Politics / Shocker: Aregbesola's Oponimo.com Website Has Finally Changed Hands! [photos] by Kenai: 2:56pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
When the Osun State government launched the much-touted Opon Imo initiative on national television (to the praise and admiration of many staunch APC supporters), they equally launched and advertised an official reference website to support the program and tackle all the frequently asked questions regarding the Opon Imo tablets. ijebabe: ekoilee: It's even listed as their official site on their Twitter handle: But to my utter shock and disbelief, I visited the website just recently and found this! Opon Imo website has changed to chinko! But the fact that even the Opon Imo handlers haven't found this out is an indication that they've probably abandoned the program a long time ago. Jesus Christ! The man really pulled a fast one on these people I must say, though... Politics / Re: Opon Imo Launched By Osun Today by Kenai: 9:14pm On Jun 04, 2015 |
A few observations can be made from this thread: The people who opposed this program pointed to its unsustainability as a major factor. Spending billions acquiring tablets for SS students (a recurrent fluctuating numerical statistic) instead of building and equipping computerized libraries (a fixed statistic) that would educate generations to come, was heavily derided and adjudged the height of fiscal recklessness. The fact that Osun state was a largely agrarian unit even made matters worse. However, the supporters of the program never gave a clear reason for supporting it. They also never spared a second to think about the possible repercussions. It was all about shaming the "bad belle people". Zero intellectual might and very little forethought. ... .. . .. ... ...Are we about to get into the same problem on the national level? Does this ring a bell with a certain N5000 allowance program some people are blindly defending with their lives even without sparing a second to think about the utter absurdity of the program as well as its inevitable consequences? cc: peppyluv02, ozoigbondu, obayaya, Shine1177, BlackPikiN, BraniacX, onyi4edu, onyengbu, ceo4eva , agabaI23, anonimi, Tonylyte, tomakint, Ishilove, NDPVF. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Oh, so now he even acknowledges the existence of SURE-P funds? Wasn't he the same desperado who said the SURE-P fund was nothing but a big scam in 2012? Many of his tweets echoed that thought: But as long as it was against GEJ, any lie was welcome. I keep saying it that El-Rufai is a very dangerous creature capable of inciting the ignorant into violence using nothing but lies if things don't go his way. Could you believe that this short devil said this on March 10th... Only to still turn around and say this THE FOLLOWING DAY... What a pity! This is the animal some people would come out tomorrow and say they look up to. Now I see. It was NEVER about honesty or sincerity. It was just about giving the dog a bad name to hang it. Anything was okay. Any lie was alright, as long as it favored his political ambition. Anybody risking their life over these lying, deceitful politicians is a FOOL, and I say it with all honesty. 74 Likes 5 Shares |

Madam Due Process was really blown open in that interview. Let's not even sugarcoat it. Watch the interview and see for yourself: [flash=640,480] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAY04VWpWfE[/flash] Clearly, Dr. Oby's understanding of a politician is a "member of a political party", but Mehdi was quick to point out to her that holding 2 ministerial positions, acting as adviser to the president and serving as World Bank Vice President already made her a politician. Her shameless defence of Obasanjo's administration also exposed her as a hypocrite. 7:43 Mehdi: Sure you would agree that the root causes of Boko Haram aren't just the radical Islamist ideology but also political grievances and marginalisation. And don't you think members of the political elite like yourself should also take responsibility for neglecting them? Oby: I have been very vocal about the failure of the political elite class which I am a part of. I mean, I'm not going to pretend like a belong to a lonely class... Mehdi: Well, with respect to other instances where you have said you were not a politician, I'm glad you're finally accepting that today. Oby: But no, I am not a politician. Mehdi: Really? Then what are you? Oby, I do not belong to a political party... Mehdi: But you were a government minister? Oby: Well, that's where you're wrong... Mehdi: So you weren't a government minister? Oby: Well, we do not practice the West's minister type of government. We practice presidential system... Mehdi: Ministers are not politicians? Oby: I became a politician without having to carry Party cards and dance in the village. Mehdi.. Your definition of a politician is a person who does not belong to a party? If you were the Minister of education, If you were the minister of solid minerals, if you were the vice president of world bank, If you were an adviser to African presidents, you're not a politician? Oby: well... Mehdi: That's a very narrow definition. Oby: Well... ehm... well... it depends on how brrrrrrroadly... 57 Likes 7 Shares |
Foreign Affairs / PHOTO: SA Lists States That Helped Their Apartheid Fight - Nigeria Not Listed! by Kenai: 2:28pm On Apr 29, 2015 |
The final nail on the coffin of Nigeria's Sense of entitlement? Twitter user @Mokhathi recently paid a visit to his native Freedom Park in South Africa, a park/museum created in honor of the Black Liberation struggle and the eventual abolishment of Apartheid. And inside the museum rests a board/Plaque recognizing and appreciating the various countries that came to their aid in numerous fields during those trying times. But what I found most interesting is the fact that Nigeria wasn't for once mentioned on that list. Take a look and examine the list yourselves: When you juxtapose this with the numerous stories we've heard about how Nigerian leaders spent billions helping South Africa as well as arm-twisting the Brits by indigenizing their companies, it's even more weird. Even Ghana, Tanzania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Lesotho were recognized, but not the self-proclaimed Giant of Africa with its "Big Daddy" complex. Isn't it funny that, during the decade Nigerian military officers were spending those billions of dollars "helping" far away South Africa, Bayelsa wasn't even on the national grid? Isn't it funny that, during the decade our "leaders" were spending those billions, numerous towns and villages in the Niger Delta had its locals drinking, washing, bathing, swimmig, DEFECATING, cooking and EATING from the same water source? Isn't it funny that the same country "spending billions" to "liberate" another couldn't even boast of reliable electricity or a functional steel mill to aid its industrial sector? This is when you begin to ask if the so-called 'Black Emancipation' spree, embarked on by our leaders at that period, was really an honest fight for justice or one big, overbloated ego trip meant to serve their interests and line their pockets. From the oil boom of the 70's which only translated to flashy, nonsensical Jamborees like FESTAC77 and ECOMOG noise, were the 70's and 80's really about exemplary Leadership or just self-serving idiocy? As a final shot, I'd advise my fellow Nigerians (especially our leaders) to shun this "pan African" foolishines and FOCUS on just serving the people who elected them, not some strangers hundreds of miles away! Pan-Africanism is a FARCE. Has always been so; will always be so. PS: E really pain this my guy! 24 Likes 3 Shares |

Politics / Starving Rivers Pensioners Cry Out To Amaechi To Pay Their 3 Month Arrears by Kenai: 5:58pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
Pensioners in Rivers State have appealed to the State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to pay them their three months pension arrears before the end of April, 2015. The pensioners, who spoke on Sunday under the auspices of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Rivers State Chapter, lamented that the state government had not paid them (pensioners) since January this year. A statement by the State NUP Chairman, Mr. Edward Festus-Abibo, and Secretary, Mr. Joseph Agbo, disclosed that members of the union had been suffering untold hardship as a result of the unpaid arrears. It explained that such ugly situation had not happened in the past, even as he wondered why politicians and other workers had received their pay to date, except the pensioners in the state. The pensioners said, “We regret to inform you that senior citizens of this state have not been paid their monthly pension allowance since January, 2015 to date (three months). “We are suffering untold hardship under the midst of plenty. This kind of ugly situation has never occurred in the history of Rivers State. It is unbelievable that Rivers State Government owes pensioners when politicians and other workers have been paid up to March 2015. “What evil have we committed that warrant this type of punishment? ]Before we were paid December, 2014, we protested twice and lost two of our members during the protest. “What an ugly situation! Presently, some of our members had been sent to their grave because of lack of medical care and starvation.” It noted that pensioners in the state were currently owed six per cent increment since October 1, 2003 and 15 per cent increment since 2007, adding that such increases had been computed and sent to the governor for approval and release of fund for the past two years. The statement added, “Recently, pension increase of 33 percent has been approved with effect from 1st July, 2010 and the State Government had not implemented it. “We therefore, call on the state government to pay our monthly pension allowances for the months of January, February and March 2015 and other outstanding increases on pensions from 2003 to date before the end of this month (April).” http://www.punchng.com/news/rivers-pensioners-ask-amaechi-to-pay-three-month-arrears/ Lalasticlala, Ishilove, Obinoscopy "DAURA ONE CHANCE, DAURA ONE CHANCE, OFU ONYE! Before Fashola can run his mouth against those who have been at the vanguard of the battle for federalism in Nigeria before he was born, we ask him to publicly declare his assets today against the Mercedez Benz 200 flat boot and Sagem handset which he brought to Alausa when Tinubu appointed him as Chief of staff in 2002. Hahahahaaa! Oh ma days! Fashola has yet to respond to the scandal of the metal scraps he went to pick from Canada which he is passing off to Lagosians as I have said this before and I will say it again - Fashola can only be exalted by the ignorant and uninformed. Fashola is and has always been a mediocre bum gassed up by the syncophantic Lagos media hype, an unwarranted self-importance and a vainglorious sanctimony of unprecedented proportions. Swell! Here our saviour comes again, dear Fashola, with his 3,500 cameramen as they commission his latest revolutionary project - A water tap! Fashola commissions his latest 1billion-naira-per-kilometre road - Eko oni baje ooo! Fashola and his 3,500 cameramen have turned on the streetlights - Eko oni baje ooo! Fashola earmarks 4 billion naira for Christmas lights along our express road - Eko oni baje ooo! But when the yearly rainy season comes in and turns the city into a modern-day Atlantis, watch his hungry internet dogs frantically search for someone else to blame. That's when you suddenly remember Lagos is "below sea level". That's when you suddenly start reading stories about how evil the locals are for "blocking the drainage canals with their filth" like the Lagos State Sanitation Department doesn't exist for a reason. The Lekki Free Trade Zone is designed, constructed and commissioned on Twitter. The 4th Mainland Bridge is linking Lagosians to California on the pages of Osun Defender. Even the Lekki International Airport has planes landing and taking off to the Bermuda triangle, but this same turncoat has the nerve to point at others. Under his watch, LASU tuition was jacked up to 250,000 with no infrastructural development to match the unjust hike. Thousands had to drop out under this man. But funny enough, this price hike still didn't stop his LASU from losing its NUC accreditation in various departments, including but not limited to Biology and Chemistry. But nobody talks about this. He lambasts the president at every chance he gets, but on his failed lightrail project, he had to import 30 year old rusty decommissioned trains to fool his gullible praise-singers. As soon as his project failed, in his typical cowardly fashion, he had to turn around and blame the federal government for not bailing him out of his self-inflicted shame. This clown talks about corruption; but tell him to sign the Freedom of Information bill and watch him sweat. Only the ignorant exalt him. Lalasticlala, Ishilove, Obinoscopy... 135 Likes 20 Shares |

Why are these people like this? Why do they thrive in so much deceit and hypocrisy? Why do they constantly play to the gallery? Deceit is something they so much have in common. If it's not Aregbesola lying to his starving civil servants that Jonathan was withholding their salaries because Osun is an opposition state (even though Aregbe has enough money to spray at Lagosians during their Buhari march), it's Rochas Okorocha lying on TV that his administration pays Youth Corpers 10,000 even when ALL Corpers in Imo can attest to the fact that they don't receive a DIME from this con artist. The facts are right there: - In 2007, APC (then AC) fielded Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate - A muslim Fulani man who had just decamped from PDP after serving as Vice President for 8 years under an extremely corrupt administration which he had also played a key role in. - In 2011, APC (then ACN) fielded Nuhu Ribadu as its presidential candidate - A muslim Fulani man with no prior record of administrative experience except working as an attack dog for Obasanjo, hounding his political enemies. In 2015, APC is fielding Muhammadu Buhari - A 73 year old muslim Fulani man whose Secondary School Certificate is still in doubt. A former dictator whose idea of stabilizing prices was deploying soldiers to horse-whip traders and artisans at markets. If a completely useless picture of Fashola in a raincoat, or Rochas dancing Shoki, could get featured on the frontpage, then it would completely defile logic if this informative thread does not. 57 Likes 3 Shares |

On that note, I'd like to humbly join Mr. Aregbesola in pleading with Jonathan to curb the oil theft in the Niger Delta, for it has completely rendered Osun state (a state of over 4 million people) insolvent and unable to pay its workers for 5 months, even with all the 'progressive' heroics happening on the pages of Osun Defender. Politics / "Tackle Oil Theft Now!" - Aregbesola To Jonathan by Kenai: 1:07pm On Mar 15, 2015 |
The Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan not to play politics with the ailing state of Nigeria’s economy. The governor urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government to as a matter of urgency nip in the bud the issue of oil theft that has robbed the country of trillions of Naira. Mr. Aregbesola gave the charge in Atakumosa West Local government in continuation of the All Progressives Congress campaign to drum up support for all the candidates of the party in the forth-coming general elections. Mr. Aregbesola had earlier taken his campaigns to Orolu and Atakumosa East council areas of the state, telling residents that the only hope left for the masses is to see to the end of the Peoples Democratic Party rule at the Federal government level. He held that if the said stolen crude oil is being prevented and blocked by the PDP and the federal government, such proceeds amounting to trillions of Naira can be put to use in the development of rural roads all over Nigeria. The governor while addressing the people of Ilaa-jesa, Isaobi, Isotun Osu and Ifewara among other rural settlements in the Local government said the Yoruba have never benefited anything good under the administration of the PDP. According to the governor, “if the barrels of crude oil being alleged to have been stolen daily are blocked and prevented by the PDP controlled Federal government which amount to 1.7 trillion Naira, proceeds from such act could have provided about 2000 kilometers of rural roads across the country”. He admonished the people of the area to query the Federal government on why the Osogbo-Ilesa and Osu-Ife roads which began seven years ago were abandoned. He said, “Nigerians (Osunites?) have never had it this bad in terms of hunger, insecurity, corruption, unemployment among others, the worst of it being the economic recession which made a dollar to exchange for 230 naira from 120 inherited by the Jonathan led administration.” The governor also appealed to Christians to use the Lenten period to pray for the desired change the country truly deserves by voting for all the candidates of the APC in the National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections. Mr. Aregbesola at the palace of the Asotun of Isotun Oba Prof. Akinola Adeniyi Owosekun 11, alleged that, “if the wastages the Federal government is noted for are curtailed, no rural community will not benefit from the proceeds from crude oil being stolen daily. “God in his mercy granted President Goodluck Jonathan the last four years as an economic independence period when crude oil was sold at 100 dollars per barrel, but what did the country witness, abandoned projects including the Alagbado-ota bridge started by Chief Ernest Sonekan ‘s government,” the governor said. On the comments of the president during his visit to the state that the country is buoyant and that his government is fulfilling its financial obligations to the state, the governor questioned why federal government workers are being owed salaries and allowances. Mr. Aregbesola said his visit to the villages is to enable him assess and have first-hand information about the condition of the people. Mr. Aregbesola told the people that one of the things the PDP wanted to ensure by forcing a postponement of the election was to drain the people out and use the period to empower their weak candidates. “We only need our people to persevere. Our people are Omoluabi who cannot be bought with ill-gotten wealth. We have remained with the people and that is our commitment,” he said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-west/178486-tackle-oil-theft-aregbesola-tells-jonathan.html 1 Like |
