Hello, please how did u pay for the application fee, the payment method is using a credit card but I have none just our usual debit card.

Unless you have a dollar card. Alternatively, you can use barter by flutterwave or have someone you trust to pay for you with their dollar card.

I noticed that everyone that got there ppr today submitted IELTS ( according to there time-line). Looks like ielts is a plus.

That is merely a guess. No one knows because of the way IRCC operates. I may say that 80 percent of the approvals a few months ago did not write IELTS. It's just been different this time, at least in my opinion.

My People,

I just received my notes now, to know the stage of my application

But my main concern is under Length of study which should be 2 I saw ''4''

I had to check the IMM forms I submitted to be double sure it was not my mistake. The form has;
Duration of expected study From 2022-05-03 To 2024-04-30

On the first page I saw Stay/Program From 2022-05-03 To 2024-04-30

What should I do in this regard? Raise a webform to correct them or mind my business and keep praying. lipsrsealed

Nothing to be fussed about as your LOA will suffice, I made same mistake too when selecting my program of study. But quickly raise a Webform & Email Asap to Nairobi, Abuja, Lagos for the correction.

Best wishes.

Thank you for the response.
Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm actually asking about the previous jobs I've had. In the new portal, there's a section that asked to list all jobs in the last 10 years. I'm now asking that the job I had between 2016 - 2018, can a reference letter only suffice as evidence? There was no official letter issued or payslip.

A reference letter can suffice for your previous jobs, and you can also show a pictures of you at the previous jobs if you have one.

Not the booking reference.
It’s the flight entering Canada.

Once you select the Airline, you will see that the flight name will be filled, all you need insert is just the number of the plane entering Canada

The Airline Booking Ref is what me I filled as my flight number coz it contain both departure & the flight number entering Canada.

Good day guys, I had to settle to write this because I started my journey here and will finally end it here as well. I recently received my passport request on 21/04/2022.

This journey has started since 2019. My first ever application I used an agent to which was recommended to me by a family friend. My mother was the one in direct contact with the agent all i did was drop documents and go for biometrics. I wasn't really ecstatic about leaving Nigeria then. It wasn't in my plans at all. my application was already 6 months old. Luckily, I withdrew the application as I needed my passport for certain things which I'll not go into the Intricacies. I didn't even bother if my application was going fine or not I just desperately needed my passport at that point not caring what was done or if my application was submitted correctly. Sha I withdrew.

Fast forward to 2020. A friend of mine sparked my interest in traveling to Canada. Especially with the way the country don be. Mhen, then I remembered I had applied for this before. I asked for her advice and she directed me to Nairaland instantly I started reading the thread sometimes I could go as far as 2016 to see what was discussed and how things has changed found that Frankrobbn1, Lekiboboe, Justmellow, Fgmp12, shupy, dommakavelli, just wise where top contributors. So I took my time and read their timelines. Every answers they gave/answered.

However, due to what I already learnt here I knew I had to get in contact with the agent of 2019 again to tell me what he filled in my IMM forms. I also planned to order my gcms files to see myself but I needed the details from the last application and hear what he has to say. I was in shock to what was submitted. The fallacies in my application and knew instantly that I was in deep shit. I can't drastically change any information as that will be considered misrepresentation. IRCC no send if na agent apply for you. So one way or another I maneuvered. I was able to dilute some information. While some i just left it like that. There was no way I could change them.

With what I already knew I applied on July 23 2021. I was then refused November 29 2021. I was devastated. Upon everything whey I don Sabi. Haba na. I ordered my notes the same day I got refused.

I took my time got closer to God, bought some course from Mark holte. Paid for study permit webinars organized by immigration lawyers. Looked for other resources to gather information, felt nairaland wasn't enough. I would always direct message immigration lawyers on twitter i.e Andrew kolton, Raj sharma, Mikal, Mario Bellissimo. I got some information about the Intricacies, learnt alot about chinook e.t.c
Information choke sha.

With that in mind. I addressed my refusal reasons as accentuated by my GCMS notes. Which were sources of funds in 3 words. Packaged my application and applied on the 11th April of 2022. I received my passport request on 21st of April 2022.

Docs submitted in no particular order
1.) Evidence of post secondary education
2.) LOE (1 Page)
3.) SOP (4 Pages)
4.) NIN Slip(Me and my sponsor)
5.) Birth certificate
6.) IELTS
7.) 12 months bank statements for sponsor
8.) My bank statement (4 months)
9.) Business Invoices and receipts
10.) Tuition payment receipts
11.) Recommendation letters
12.) Financial statements of business
13.) Family pictures
14.) Business related pictures
15.) CAC registration docs
16.) Tenancy agreement and evidence of it's proceeds
17.) Sponsorship letter
18.) Bank reference Letter.

It'll end in praise for each and every one of us.

Great new!!! Congratulations.
More to come for all everyone waiting.

If you are using the NewPortal, make use of the consent form section to upload other docs.. Pls ensure all your docs are legible don’t over compressed most especially your POF.

What is mbs? And how is it preferable to a normal statement of account printed in hard copy or sent through email

MBs is myBankStatement and is preferable in such that, instead of you submitting bulk copies of SOA, MBS is just a one copy that contain Ticket number and password for IRCC to access those date. So it’s preferable as it also give you enough space to upload other POF docs.

Good evening everyone

Please is it true that IRCC do not recognise first bank MBS?

IRCC recognize all MBS irrespective of your Bank. So you are good to go with First Bank MBS.

Am increasing the transfer limit tomorrow at the bank, maybe to like 3m/4m in a day, i hope it will be effective from that day?

Then, is it safe and advisable to take naira to Canada and find someone with much CAD and exchange with? Is it safe?

I know someone in Canada that i might ask to help....

Will mtn network work there ooO or na WIFI?

Just source for $ even if it small amount then you can alternatively use the financeApp once you get here. Recharge like 5k call card on your mtn card before coming. My airtel works pretty fine with Telus/Bell service provider.

abeg give us firsthand info

I mean how do u source for FX with the naira in ur bank acc

I already deposited some fund$ to my dollar acct before leaving.

Alternatively, when you arrive you can download a financeApp eg (LemonadefinanceApp), where you will fund your Naira wallet via bank transfer through your Nigeria bank account then covert the NGN to CAD wallet still in the app and transfer to your Canadian account via interac e transfer.

Also, I heard there is a Nigerian group where people exchange naira to cad but at your own risk.

But can anyone help me with the lowest required money to hold since PTA is out of it.

Regards.

There’s no minimal amt, you can travel cashless so far your POF is available @POE, but it advisable to hold something as you might needed cash when you arrived. Me I only travel with $1000.

1. PLS is it possible to carry Naira to Canada and change it to Canadian dollars at the airport upon arrival or at their banks?

2. How can one gets foreign currency to spend in Canada in the absence of PTA?

3. Does our Mastercard ATM work in Canada currently and what is the daily limit?

Thanks

1. Yes you can, but the naira as to be in your naira bank account not in cash. Once you arrived you can use lemonadeApp where you change your Naira to CAD, and then transfer through interac- etransfer to your Canadian account.

2. No idea, either you apply for PTA or source $ from Aboki’s which is black market rate.

3. Abeg forget about that naira master-card, monthly limit is 20$.

For cheap flight, use flight scanner, YVR(Vancouver Intl Airport) that is what you are to choose as your final destination either your transiting through another airport.

For the Airbnb, Once you see an apartment you like message your host and ask him/her the walking distance from the apartment to UCW.

I went straight to Agric to declare my foodstuffs. Eventually my 2 check-in luggage weigh 45KG and 38KG respectively. OMO!!! I pack plenty foodstuffs no mind me, over 30yrs tastebud can’t change just of sudden, I need to still keep substitute with 9ja food so as to keep my sanity….na there we start ooo coz I was told I will have to pay 320$ close to 200k for excess luggage, I wan cry so my family said maybe they should reduce some foodstuffs, I said return KINNI, I rather reduce all my cloth instead but food ooo Lailai..So we started shuffle, those luggage guys render helped to (If you coming with foodstuffs no go do fine man/woman go buy those fine Big luggage find better GhanaMustGo or BigSack to pack your foodstuffs, though you can use those fine luggage for your clothes and others.. So after shuffle, I only have 1 excess 23KG check-in luggage. So I paid 117k for the excess.

Air France only asked for my passport, LOA, ArriveCan, LOI, they didn’t even asked for the Covid test self..so they check me in and I was given my boarding pass. Landed in Vancouver, I quickly went to ease myself first lol before we disembark from the aircraft, I waka no be small, the shoe Ghengen whey I wear con dey pain me for leg join. So we proceeded to the self declaration machine. Print my declaration form, and next to the immigration, I join the line, my heart started beating faster, I said to myself Guy calm down, you don enter nah.. I was only asked my purpose of visit, and this immigration officer started asking me about Shea butter (ORI) coz it on my Agric declaration from 9ja, OMO I con forget how to explain ORI, nah him even answer the question, he said moisturizer I quickly said yes, and I said it was extracted from plant not animal product, him con smile join, So he mark my declaration form and said I should proceed to another office to get my study permit. Hi guys! Guess who's in Canada!! grin

LANDING GIST!!!! BRACE YOURSELF tongue

So my trip was Lagos - Vancouver via Ethiopian Airline by 1:40pm wasn't a smooth one, but I thank God..

Arrived the airport very early, but the queue at the airport no be here! Airport was crowded, scattered, nothing was orderly at the Airport. After waiting for almost 1hour on the queue, one devilish immigration officer eventually told me to join a wrong line, and I lost my spot, and had to go back to the queue again! I almost comot my boxer swear for this guy! angry

He just kept apologising, that's what calmed me down sha.
Got to Ethiopian Airline/Naija Immigration checks, was sha asked for my Passport, Acceptance Letter, Arrive Can, Vaccination Card, Covid-19 TEST PCR (which I eventually did, cause I just didn't want any issue and problems.) they told a Chinese lady there to go get a Covid-19 Test and I'm sure she missed the flight, and that was all.

Going through checks to board my flight, begging and taxing everywhere at Naija Immigration, I no give anyone 10kobo, cause no be their papa gimme money I use apply for Visa or pay any of my expenses, my check-in bags were searched and unfortunately, those wicked Naija Immigration seized my body lotion, body and anti persperants deodorants was 3, like 5 hair cream, everything seized was worth almost 15K. (I eventually found out, I wasn't meant to check in those kinda stuffs) Guys please learn from me. Don't check in with those sorta stuffs, they should be included inside your boxes. Begged and begged this woman, she no gree, gave me the option of taking it back to my fam outside, family wey don begin dey go house, or trashing it there( which kine mumu trash? Na them go use am, BASTARDDDSSS) I eventually found out na money she dey find, but unfortunately, I didn't have cash with me. Gave out all my naira. Dem no born me well give am $100 notes cause na only wetin I carry be that.

Eventually I was the 2nd to the last person to board on the plane. Almost missed the flight. Was running like a FOOL! Immediately I boarded, wasn't up to 8mins, we took off . ENROUTE >>>>>>>ADDIS ABABA (5hours 20mins)

Food was terrible, met Nigerians that were leaving the country. Addis Ababa Airport is really beautiful, see difference between Naija Airport and Ethiopian Airport nau. Everything orderly and arranged.
Didn't stay at the Airport for up to 40mins. Got into my next flight to Toronto, longest journey of my life (16hours 20mins)!

Guys my ass became numb! embarassed Thank God it was a night flight, I just kept sleeping and watching movies on my phone. Couldn't watch their movies cause the earphone they gave me was trashy. Almost couldn't hear anything with it. With the whole noise from the aircraft. Though they had good collections of movies.

Fast forward >>>>> We landed Toronto Airport, the airport is a beauty! Jesus! Beauty at it's peak. Everything was too organised. I kept asking God who did this to Naija? Cause it's just not fair! Was going with the crowd, omo guys follow who know Road, and keep asking questions. Everybody in Canada is always happy to help in anyway they can.

I went straight to the Immigration Officers, I was fortunate, I didn't spend up to 15mins on the queue before it got filled up and crowded.

There was this stand where one Immigration Officer was loud and asking this Naija guy plenty of questions! In my mind I was like, God please don't let me go to this same guy! Pleaseeeeeee! Naso e reach my turn for Immigration, ghen ghen! Na that same man them post me go! Quickly told my siblings on WhatsApp to pray for me to pass this Immigration checks, they told me only my mama prayers should sort that out for me. And,

Guys guess what? This Man asked me for just my PASSPORT!!! That was all! And asked me how long I'd be studying and who my sponsor was, and where my school is. I didn't spend up to 45 seconds with him. And he printed my permit. Like I was like really? How? Covid-19 Test? Introduction Letter? Acceptance Letter? Proof of Fund? ArriveCan? Tuition Receipts? Vaccination Card? Everything wey i print out? Baba ask me something at least nah... grin Nothing! Only my Passport! Is God not wonderful? Loll.. He is for sure!

Proceeded to my next flight to Vancouver (Air Canada) The queue was terribly long. Was on queue for almost 50mins. After checks, I begin run again, normal level. I was like the second to the last person to board. Immediately, we left. Another 5hours flight! God I was tired of flying! This journey ain't for the weak. I angrily forced myself to sleep. And kept seeing the series on my phone.

Finally, we arrived Vancouver! But unfortunately, my bags weren't complete. My bags were missing, they tracked it, and saw its still at Toronto, it didn't come in with the flight. Air Canada fall my hands for that one. Was disappointed. My apartment to the Airport is almost an hour drive. They offered to deliver it to me anyway, make i still dey observe them.

Guys I stepped out of the Airport in Vancouver, and the COLD that hit me, blood of Jesus Christ! I never believed it! It was just 12° ohh!! And to think Vancouver has the best weather in Canada? Haaaaa!

Na why people full here and it's extremely expensive. Guys make person no lie give you, Canada is extremely COLD!!!!!!
Thank God for my cousin who came to pick me up at the Airport.

It's 5:55am as I type this, and we're on 4°c, so prepare yourself please, and come with your winter jacket socks, head warmer and hand gloves, yes even if our own for Naija na rubbish, carry am come like that, e dey useful! Thanks to my sister and a friend in Vancouver that forced me to buy it.

So in a nutshell, I thank God for a safe trip into Canada. When I sit and reminisce on it, omo! This Canada isn't for the weak! I thank God for this platform (Nairaland), y'all are a blessing, also met good people that have turned friends through Nairaland.! A bigger chunk of thanks goes to my FAMILY. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Mehn, y'all are the real MVP!

The whole journey wouldn't have started at the first place.
Those delayed, please don't relent, please, it's definitely gonna be worth it in the end, those waiting for an update on their app, please keep praying and keep being optimistic, God would definitely perfect your application.

Guys story don finish, make i go back to sleep. I had to do this, make una no think say I don run, which I can't. grin

It has ended in praise for me. I hope it does same to each and everyone here.

Thank you. cool
