The Chineese Z-8L is not a bad option and it's quite affordable.

Thank God for their lives. Well trained and sound pilots to have considered others before ejecting

bidexiii:
NAF ALPHA JET PILOTS DISPLAY COURAGE AND PROFESSIONALISM DURING POST-INSPECTION TEST FLIGHT EMERGENCY

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commends the exceptional bravery and professionalism of its Alpha Jet pilots who safely ejected following an in-flight emergency during a post-inspection functional check flight on 6 December 2025, at Nigerian Air Force Base Kainji. Shortly after take-off, the aircraft developed an emergency, prompting the pilots to act swiftly and with remarkable composure. They expertly manoeuvred the aircraft away from populated areas before executing a safe ejection. The crew is currently undergoing routine medical evaluation.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has praised the pilots for their courage, discipline and sound judgement, which prevented loss of life. He has also directed the immediate constitution of a Board of Inquiry to investigate the incident. The NAF further acknowledges the prompt, coordinated and highly professional response of its personnel, including Search and Rescue teams, Fire and Crash Response units, and medical practitioners, who swiftly secured the area and ensured the safety and wellbeing of the aircrew. Their dedication, teamwork and sacrifice reflect the unwavering commitment to service that the NAF is known for.

This incident also underscores the inherent risks associated with aviation operations, particularly in military environments where airpower projection demands increased flying activities, complex missions and sustained readiness. It serves as a reminder of the courage and devotion to duty exhibited daily by NAF personnel who willingly operate in high-risk conditions to secure the nation. These men and women, through their relentless sacrifice and professionalism, deserve the utmost honour and respect.

The Nigerian Air Force reassures the public of its steadfast adherence to stringent safety standards and operational excellence. The NAF remains committed to safeguarding its personnel while protecting the lives and property of citizens in line with its constitutional mandate.

Please answer this question....Can this happen in the USA, or UK, or even South Africa or ALgeria?
Ghostagain:
Ministers are appointed, governors are voted in. So it is not the same thing.

Show me the position of the minister in the military chain of command.

If you want to have a military, you should learn how it works. Being a minister doesn't mean you can give orders to soldiers and officers. You need to follow the chain of command.

Disrespecting a soldier or an officer is not permitted even for the president.

You don't understand the military and you don't understand democracy. In a democracy, ministers and presidents work for the people, they are not above the people, they are under the people, so they are not entitled to "who are you" attacks, nor to calling an officer "a fool".
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kenpaul0: 1:03pm On Nov 14, 2025
Are the military honorable? A lot of them maltreat civiliand...where is the honor in that? Please spare us the honor talk
Ghostagain:
I AM NOT A FOOL

Look, I used to live in the barracks, all the blabla you just said is inconsequential. What matters is that in every barrack what the military personnel saw was a corrupt political class disrespecting the military. Each Nigerian soldier, retired or actif is fuming right now.

This reminds me of the prelude to the Gideon Orka coup. Soldiers value honour in a way most civilians in Nigeria might not understand. These are people who basically die for their honour and their oath.

Fct minister, whom has never been shot at in his life, needs to show more respect for people who put themselves in the line of fire between civilians and terrorists. When was the last time the fct minister or president or any politician for that matter went into the trenches and fought against boko haram ?

If I were to be that young officer, I would have ordered the minister's entourage to not get up to 1 metre near me and my men would have stood in fighting position aiming their guns at the Entourage. If the minister insults me, I have my men arrest him. (I'ld lose my job, but he would lose his tooth).

This is coming from me, a guy who likes Wike.

But the Roovial looks sharp...I was hoping this would become the chopper for Africa

Exnavyboy62:
Not like the SANDF will pick on my opinion and act on it, but f it anyways, I get that South Africa have laws that makes it prioritize locally made weapons over foreign made. But maybe this time around the SANDF should consider buying from outside. Denel Rooivalk and Atlas Oryx are outdated. It would take decades of R&grin, prototype testing and full scale production to come up with new platforms. The T-129 Atak and KUH-1 Surion seem like they will be good replacements.

Chief, has Beeg opened another blog

Odunayaw:
I am aware of reality so my point about strategic importance isn't about Frigs and subs. They are nice to haves but are secondary based on our place in the world.

What I'm pointing is the paradigm shift of NN gradually inland. This preoccupation with land warfare. There is so much to do in the Gulf of guinea for it to be dipping its feet in faraway Benue.

NA has two divisions designated amphibious. Ideally that should be 20k forces. In my discussion with Beeg he simply could not offer a rebuttal to my position on them.

How many of the AES Contries pay up their share for joint security in ECOWAS...even from the days of ECOMOG. The Lion share is usually borne by Nigeria. If i was President of Nigeria i would not talk to any of them...i will just work on securing my borders and making my military very adept at taking out our enemies
Faithful007:
I don't think you realize that the major complaint against ECOWAS by the AES countries was because of the failure of ECOWAS to tackle terrorism. ECOWAS budgeted billions to raise a joint initiative to counter insurgency. That did not happen.

ECOWAS was never established as a military alliance of any sort, under some funding and pressure from western interests, she took on the role of peacekeeping and democracy enforcement. However, insurgency is a recent thing, and for now ECOWAS has not come up with any solution yet.

My own is that i think we should stop all this big brother nonsense. No more free meals while we the citizens suffer. If ECOWAS collapses all wel and good...we simply close our bothers and start giving everyone the Trump treatment...we should start thinking Nigeria first....

What he should be concentrating on us begging Togo, Benin and Ghana not to join AES.

Ghana and Benin and Togo are competing for who will lock down the access to the seaport for the 3 AES countries with consequent billions of dollars in taxes.

Was it a Hellfire missile that was used for this strike?

bidexiii:
ARMY CHIEF VISITS TUDUN BIRI, COMMISERATES, TENDERS APOLOGY, PLEDGES SUCCOUR TO DRONE STRIKE VICTIMS, COMMUNITY

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has paid a condolence visit to Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Army Chief arrived the community in the early hours of Tuesday 5 December 2023, accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, where he met with the Dangaladima Zazau, the District Head of Rigasa, Architect Aminu Idris, other leaders and members of the community.

The COAS in an emotion laden speech expressed regrets on the unfortunate mishap, describing it as a very disheartening occurrence.

Speaking further, Gen Lagbaja noted that in the recent past, the general area of Tudun Biri and adjoining villages were infested with armed bandits, who terrorised the communities, until troops of the Nigerian Army started conducting operations to sanitize the area and make it habitable. He pointed out, that the troops were carrying out aeriel patrols when they observed a group of people and wrongly analyzed and misinterpreted their pattern of activities to be similar to that of the bandits, before the drone strike.

The COAS stated that he was in Tudun Biri to personally witness the site of the mishap and to convey sincere regrets and unreserved apologies on behalf of the Nigerian Army to the District Head and people of the community, as well as the Government and entire people of Kaduna State. He disclosed that he has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident to ascertain and identify areas of deficiency that led to the inadvertent disaster, adding that the findings and overarching outcome of the investigation will guide the NA in meticulously and professionally seeking and applying lasting solutions to identified lapses and deficiencies in both the human and Artificial Intelligence variables that will forestall future recurrence.

The District Head of Rigasa, Architect Aminu Idris in his remarks said despite the enormity of the incident, the Nigerian Army showed integrity in accepting responsibility for the drone strike and urged its leadership to intervene in bringing succour to hospitalized victims and the community for their losses. He maintained that the community is a mixed community of both Muslims and Christians and that the victims are of both faith, contrary to earlier insinuation that the community is solely Muslim.

General Lagbaja also commiserated with the Chairman Jamaa' atu Nasru Islam, Kaduna State Prof
Shafiu Abdullahi and other clerics.
The Chief of Army Staff equally visited affected victims at the Barua Dikko Teaching Hospital Anguwan Rimi, Kaduna, where he expressed concern for the speedy recuperation of the hospitalized persons and made an immediate donation of several provisions for their upkeep.

There is no need to further engage him. Your facts are crystal clear for anyone to see. @ Odunayaw has said it all!!

Faithful007:
Yeah. That is to show you how impossible it will be for you to disprove what you're laughing at. I honestly don't want you to detract from the discourse cos I'm pissed and now I want to attack your person and expose your sheer emptiness. If you need more scientific evidence I will bring more.

Someone who doesn't even know the difference between the Syrian army, Iranian proxies and Hezbollah. Someone who doesn't know that majority of Lebanese don't even like Hezbollah, wants to argue with me. You laughed at my statement, show me what's funny about it then?

Thanks for being civil. The "hate" between Nigeria and SA is holding back the partnership which these two countries need to forge to bring Africa to limelight. If you turn the African map to the side it looks like a gun with Nigeria being the trigger and SA the muzzle. These two countries need to work together in every area from Telecoms to Banking to Military. We should have all types of pact...economic, industrial etc. Now back to the matter at hand...rather than "waste" money buying from the Ruskies or the Yankees(and their younger siblings) we should assist Denel to open another production unit in Nigeria...have a TOT which will help speed up our growing aviation industry. This would be a win win for both Countries and foster closer ties. The helo is a capable one and can be further improved upon...Nigeria is fighting a war and this helo can be used and based on combat information new additions can be made which would definetely help further design of this helo......It is an African thing and we should be proud of it. My 20 cents......If i was President that is the route i would take.
