Is it as reliable as the traditional AK? Perfectdanny: The Ak Alpha is a modern assault rifle produced by Kalashnikov Israel and Kalashnikov USA. It was first debuted in 2016 at a weapons show. It has been recently sighted with members of the Nigerian military.
It uses Ak 47 mags and shoots the 7.62 rounds.

Edward @DonKlericuzio 6m6 minutes ago More Nigerians in currently in serious contact with #ISWAP in Rann NE Nigeria. Battle began an hour ago BabaOwen: Former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida yesterday urged the military to evolve a new strategy to confront the terrorists.
Babangida, in his message on the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, said the military was currently faced with “horrific challenges” in the crucial counter-insurgency war and activities of other blood-thirsty armed groups.
“Every year, our valiant Armed Forces majestically roll out their drums to honour our slain fallen heroes, with streams of organised fascinating events coming to a climax on 15th January.
“As we prepare to celebrate this year’s Remembrance Day, we should not be oblivious of the fact that our military is presently faced with horrific challenges in the crucial counter-insurgency war, and activities of other blood-thirsty armed groups.
“Hence, it is high time we seek to consolidate our gains and also fortify our combat strength. This is necessary as our Army is undeniably a professional military establishment that has over the years achieved remarkable successes in protecting our nation’s territorial integrity.
“Indeed, it is pertinent for the top echelons of our military to speedily evolve new combat strategy to bravely confront the callous terrorists who have continued to hold many parts of the North East, and in extension, Nigeria in ransom,” he said.
He urged the military to remain apolitical in the 2019 general elections.
“In recent times, elections have tested our unity as a people, while also posing threats to our socio-cultural diversity and challenging our common destiny. Nevertheless, I have a strong conviction that our Armed Forces will remain apolitical prior, during, and after the general elections, while focusing only on discharging their constitutional responsibility of safeguarding the country either from the aggression of internal rebels in the guise of Boko Haram insurgents or from external retrogressive forces,” he stated.
Babangida paid special tribute to some gallant troops incapacitated while at the theatre of war in the restive parts of the country and saluted “the uncommon bravery of our lion-hearted fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in their quest to defend our fatherland”.
He commended the Armed Forces for their resilience over the years in maintaining peace in Nigeria, the United Nations Missions, African Union and regional interventions.

Might Backfire BabaOwen: Authorities at the headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole, a military counterinsurgency outfit in North-east Nigeria, Thursday, threatened to treat civilians who hide useful information about Boko Haram as terrorists.
According to a statement signed by the spokesman of counterinsurgency operation, Onyema Nwachukwu, the military “would not be kind” to those who were aware of clandestine movements of Boko Haram into communities around Maiduguri and fail to report such to the relevant security authorities.
Mr Nwachukwu, an army colonel, said the military has credible information that Boko Haram are moving into communities to “indoctrinate, recruit fresh members and asking others to vacate their homes”.
“There is credible information and evidence that in a bid to further intensify their psychological war and instil fear on the citizens, some elements of Boko Haram terrorists have infiltrated some villages in the fringes of Maiduguri city,” said Mr Nwachukwu, a deputy director, army public relations.
“They (Boko Haram) have clandestinely been going about threatening innocent residents, warning them to vacate their homes.
“So far, out of fear, several inhabitants have moved out of their ancestral homes. Consequently, we wish to inform all well meaning citizens, especially within Maiduguri metropolis and its environs to promptly report the presence of suspicious persons or avail the security agencies of information about such persons.
“Failure to report will be viewed seriously as it is tantamount to collaboration with the Boko Haram terrorists. Such compromising persons when found will be treated like the terrorists.
“Members of the public are enjoined to please cooperate and support ongoing operations to weed out the infiltrating terrorists and their sympathisers.”
Yesterday, the military had, in the wake of fresh attacks in communities around Maiduguri, shut down the Maiduguri-Kano highway from Maiduguri up to Potiskum for about seven hours, as troops led by special forces conducted a search in communities along the 235km road where Boko Haram had been carrying out attacks.

Whenever someone is quick to say others are dunce that fellow is usually an empty barrel!!!! I quote you "Eeben cannot stop ISWAP/Boko Haram. He himself is above 60 and has been realistic and honest about what his PMC does. He is not as duncey has some of you posting without thinking. He has mostly suggested TRAINING contracts with MOD. Since then our Army, Navy and Air force personnel have gotten cheaper more effective training from US, UK, Germany, Russia and Pakistan."...If the training was that effective do you think that we would be in this situation ? Go back and do some research on what Eeben did and stop showing your ignorance to the public...Our call for Eeeben is not for him to come and fight....When u do your research and get properly educated on what Eeben did u can then come back for further discussion...until then go and get filled up SternProphet: This is stupid suggestion. Eeben cannot stop Boko Haram and he himself has said so. You need to think hard about issues before making childish suggestions. First of all, there are solutions that are worse than the problem - nobody can pay someone to sleep with his wife for instance. You can, i suppose from this stupid idea you are espousing. Some of upu guys have been brought up with trader mentality, you think money buys everything. That is dumb and believe me it's a serious limitation on your life.
Eeben cannot stop ISWAP/Boko Haram. He himself is above 60 and has been realistic and honest about what his PMC does. He is not as duncey has some of you posting without thinking. He has mostly suggested TRAINING contracts with MOD. Since then our Army, Navy and Air force personnel have gotten cheaper more effective training from US, UK, Germany, Russia and Pakistan. There is nothing Eeben Barlow will bring. What we need is discipline and professionalism in the field at FOBs. We need skilled majors, colonels and Brigadiers who are aware of their environment and can call on resources when they know ISWAP is planning something. Boko Haram/ISWAP motivation is ideological, religious, tenacious. Only Nigerians will fight them, expel them from Nigeria and do so for the 50 years or more that we require to prevent them coming up again.
By then, Eeben Barlow would have died and his company maybe liquidated then. It is a threat that will last decades. In case you are so ignorant that You think it will end with weapins and tactics alone. IT WON'T. ISIS is not dead. They moved from Syria to Afghanistan and Libya and they are coming south to Nigeria.
You don't fight a battle or two battles and say you have lost the war and start begging some old S.African to help you OR you win some battles and relax like the stupid Buratai and his team did. |

Your man said there was nothing like subsidy...yet today he is paying more than what GEJ paid...That is first class hypocrisy...He should apologise to GEJ iblawi: This is the most uneducated stuff I will read in recent times. When an educated person is comparing BTW 2 thing he should give figure from both sides and nort from one side.
Subsidies on fuel brings more stability to economy at this fragile moment. It was a necessary move in other to have control of other sectors. Instability in oil price affect every sector from transport to agriculture, mining, etc. Stability in price of petrol affect every Nigerian so please don't compare it with subsidies on rice.
Olam rice milling plant was the biggest in Africa and the only major investment in rice production in Nigeria under GEJ. Today, several hundreds of smaller milling plant have been set up under buhari not to talk of the bigger plants. Success of any economy is not dependent on large companies but the small and medium industrial players. Buhari was able to achieve this and the current rice output from our farms speaks volumes. To make this easier for you to comprehend, just minus the capacity of the OLAM plant from the total figure available currently or use last year's figures.
You claim 2018 was the worst year for herder and farmer clash? Why provide only recent figure? Where is 2000-2014 figures? You won't provide them because they weren't available. All this report started coming out because buhari was not bribing media houses and religious organisation like GEJ/PDP govt. This shows how open the current president is. Just tell me there were no clashes under Jonathan? Or simply tell us the figures in the past 2 months if you feel nothing was done about it.
I will cover my head in shame if I were you. A govt. Without any completed project borrow as much as 11trillion while a govt with several completed projects with others at various level of completion borrowed just 13 trillion. Do you think you should even be comparing them? Can you mention any completed infrastructure project under Jonathan? Everything they borrowed were looted and money from everything they privatised were equally looted.
On the issue of employment under Jonathan, please tell us if people actually have jobs? Everyone set up companies to collect govt contracts that govt already overemployed people to do. Please tell us what value they added to the economy of this country? Everything built on false crumbles too fast and that was the exact thing that happened. Under buhari millions of farmer have jobs and revenue from solid minerals sector have increased by 500%. These are real jobs the people can sustain not employment that add no value to the country /economy as a whole.
Discussion on economy is not for shallow thinkers. Please stay away from it. |

All paid for and foundations set by PDP....always remember to put that Mr. ITK iblawi: Please help me tell them we can't pull down a bungalow and build a duplex overnight. The process of building anything takes time.
This is the same buhari that almost completed 4 standard gauge rail in less than 4years. (Abuja -kaduna,warri - ajaokuta, Abuja metro and Lagos - Ibadan SGR).
The same buhari have put 2 out of 4 international airports back to shape. Port-Harcourt airport received a completely new design and Abuja airport was expanded.
Several jobs were created for for farmers within their localities and for the first time people are getting richer In their localities without coming to Abuja Or Lagos.
Same buhari reduce importation of food items allowing local farmers to have better share of the market.
Same buhari reduce monthly import from over $5 billion to $1.9 billion making it easier for us to save up more foreign reserve.
Same Buhari that is bringing back inland water ways
Mining sector have have improved and revenue have increased by over 500%.
Single treasury have seriously reduced corruption in civil service and many thief's are screaming.
Withdrew several licences from corrupt individual both in oil and non oil sectors
Bags of rice might have increased but there are several advantages of having your people producing a good share of what you consume. Our textile industries died because of importation from China. Leather industries died cod of importation, same is happening to palm oil, wheat and sugar. Most we continue this way?
This list can go on but let me not disturb this thread cos this topic is not just meant for this place. Those that want to remain blind can keep closing their eyes. |

Whatever Legacy Buhari has today has a PDP foundation...PMB has failed Nigerians SternProphet: 50kg bag of IMPORTED rice subsidized by fake high oil prices was NOT food on the table. That was eating your children's future. You guys are a bunch of shallow rank amateurs. You think economics is kid stuff. They were looting your country and throwing you crumbs. "Bag of rice was 8000 Naira". They killed the entire rice population of rice farmers in Nigeria. 22million, that is the exact population of new rice farmers now. Fxxking empty middle class Nigerians living in three major cities thinking they are the real Nigerians. You people should prepare for a shocker. That China, the PDP VP was alluding to, you will learn that 15 years ago an 18 year old Chinese worker at an Addidas factory had a monthly wage not up to the price of one Addidas shoe. There is no gain without pain. Nigeria is growing up.
It's amazing g the number of Nigerian educated young people buying into PDP's sham because they don't know better. Why don't you go work abroad for a whilr and see life.
PDP legacy - Agric - ZERO Steel - ZERO Infrastructure - ZERO Education - ZERO Security - ZERO
They kept 20 million idiots in mega cities of Lagos, PHC, Abuja who call themselves middle class happy with imported rice, petrol and generators. Idiots thought they were going placed and living life. |

Let us not talk about the NASS...Let us focus on where the President has total control...The executive and everyone under him....Everything rises and falls on Leadership...that is what we must focus on....Presidents have stepped down for failures attributed to them....Here we explain everything..If there are issues with governance it is the job of the President to proffer solutions and not blame someone else....This trickles down to the Military and Police...If the C in C can explain away failures what do you expect from those under him Geronimoe: It's absolutely okay to blame the president and that's your unequivocal right but should the blame wholly be on him? We have a system that has been completely dysfunctional and is still dysfunctional. It's easy to blame the president on Badeh's death but nobody is talking about the dead driver. You see why I did say the system is dysfunctional. Maybe Nigeria will get better if we begin to have an introspection. Some people might think that Nigeria has a leadership deficit, the problem is the people, it's very hard for us to see beyond our noses without bringing inanities into matters, that's why it's easy for soldiers to kill unarmed shitte and we think its okay, that's why politicians bereft of ideologies easily cross carpet to other political parties as easy as they change their girlfriends and Nigerians think it's okay. That's why a sitting governor will be recorded collecting bribe and nothing will happen. That's why the senate can go on recess for no good reason without discussing the budget. That's why a senator can pose with his expensive cars in this country acclaimed to be the poverty capital of the world. That's why the elites and politicians can look at us in the face and tell us Bleep you lot because they know we are filled with inanities and their actions bears no consequence. |

Really? This is all u can come up with? What procurement has this Govt made compared to GEJ? In terms of tackling corruption GEJ even did better than PMB....considering that "fighitng" corruption is PMB's war cry. It would be very senseless to blame GEJ for bringing us here...when the current Government has had over 3 and half years to "fix" whatever issues u claim that we have. Instead of calling what we are going through as it is you decide to be defeatist and join the blame game. Thank God u have left the Army because it doesnt need commaders who blame rather than proffer solution bidexiii: It's was far worst during GEJ'S regime, do you know how many top exmilitary men that died during is regime.
These are the result of people like GEJ, The said Alex Badeh is the most corrupt defence chief we ever had. They brought us to where we are today.
So don't be sentimental. |
