beauty in the sense of the physical? I didn't really associate that with being strong. there are many women who may be physically un attractive that may be very strong so I didn't see beauty as a strength in the context that i was thinking and writing in.

it doesn't mean that i don't think that women are not beautiful

Yeah I once had that same story sent to me. Beautiful story and very true and real.

It's amazing how we still survive out here. It's really challenging to find a brother who is at least committed to the process of building a relationship, not to mention being married and it's even harder for me because I practice Islam so I would have to have a Muslim man. I'm sure when the time comes, it will happen.

This is preparation grounds so thanks for all of the input, it's very helpful. I come back to read it allot, I take the things that I can apply to my life and it really helps me stay focused, really it does.
Again thanks everyone.

No it's not really about gender, yet I have to say that the time has been over due for the balance.

Men have always been in high leadership positions throughout the world. The current conditions of the world calls out for consideration, compassion, inclusiveness, nurturing and more. All logic and no emotion has lead us to much destruction. I'm not saying a male can not accomplish these things, I'm saying that it's more commonly found in women as our primary way of thinking and making decisions.

The world needs this balance. Liberia has set an example for the world.
Now we have always been a people of great Kings and Queens with great dynasties, so this is not new, it's just been a while.

Now the whole world will be watching this woman under a microscope being very critical.

I know you probably think he loves you and only hits you out of anger and he doesn't really mean it.
He's probably very nice to you when he's not beating you. Maybe you think he is the best man you have ever met and that you can not get or deserve better. People tend to treat us how we treat ourselves. If you desire better then you will get it.

Yes we can get upset or angry at the people we love. Some people even hurt each other with words and may slap each other. None of this is cool but it happens. Love also keeps us from hurting each other too. When Abuse becomes a pattern it only gets worse, it never changes. Don't be fooled, he may not do it for a while but please believe that he will do it again. You might even be tempted to kill him or something because you are fed up. He's not worth it, besides real men respect and do not hit women.

There has been great advise given here by great people.  Examine your self esteem and know that you are somebody and that someone loves you for who you are. Everyday is another opportunity to do better.  winkYOU CAN DO IT.

If you don't stand for nothing then you will fall for anything sister.

Unless protection is used then it is to be expected that it could or would happen at some point right?

Good idea IAH,

I don't have the courage to verbally ask a man out. It seems odd, maybe just because of the standards set by society about what men and women do. I have made it known to men before through my eyes or body language, sometimes knowing it and other times not knowing it.

I don't see anything wrong with. Hey if you want something you have to go after it sometimes. It will not always come to you right?
Islam for Muslims / Re: God and Allah: Are they the same? by Kenya(f): 9:35am On Dec 24, 2005
Amin Sister,

We must know that Allah hears and sees all no matter what language or culture.

As human beings we are so limited in our understanding of God.

There is only ONE God and that's the point. Where most people differ at is having the right understanding of what that one God is. Not the fact that there is only One God.

Prophet Abrahim (PBUH) gave us such a beautiful example of this.
He searched for Allah every where. He took the sun, moon, sky, idols and more to be God. He realized that everything that he took to be God was created by a greater source. He rejected his fathers belief of the idols being God.
He came to the understanding that God was one, the one who created everything and everyone. The one who depends on nothing but the one who everything depends on.

Good to see your post sister, I always enjoy your post. smiley

Islam for Muslims / Re: Do you have any Question about Islam? by Kenya(f): 7:04am On Dec 18, 2005
Thank you both, you shedded light for me.

I have another question.

I have been confronted by another Muslim about my posts. He says that I cater to  Christains. I'm trying t o look at his point but it has been hard.
I could have done this but I don't think so. There a a few forums on this site where I have had dialog with Christains and I may have been what I considered to be respectful to their beliefs, yet still upholding my beliefs as a Muslim and sticking to the truth.

I try not to be confrontational with people if I can help it. I have chosen to be respectful because I think it is the right thing to do.  I try to explain my points to anyone who asks. As a person I am not against anyone and I am open to any truth so long as it is in line with Al-Islam.
This is the position that I have taken with others who are not Muslim and because of this I have been called a Miss do good and a pleaser for the Christains.
I don't see myself this way. The Muslim brother says that I should be fiery and hard with the Christains, I don't see a need. They are free to believe whatever they want. I don't believe that I should openly attack other because they are of a different faith. I believe that I should bare wittiness to the truth and apply knowledge, wisdom and understanding to the era's that are needed in the most respectful way. If the Christains get in the way of me worshipping Allah then that's when I will be fiery, surely.

How do you see this? I don't want conflick with Muslims because we are one.

I seen this movie called real love or true love.

Man I fell in love with the movie, it was the first Nigerian movie I ever seen a few months ago.

It was about this rich man who rebelled against his parents wishes to marry another wealthy woman. He didn't love her and didn't want to marry her.

He ended up falling inlove with a blind woman named Anna. It was a very nice movie.

I would love to see more, any suggestions?

As Salaamu Alaikum Family,

Oh Allah knows I am so happy in my heart to see this forum. It is much needed.
May Allah reward you all, Insha'Allah.

Great explination about the relationship between men and women in Islam.

As I read the post something stuck out in my mind and I felt compelled to post it.

This is just my understanding about Muslim men marrying Believing Women.

Of coarse this is a big deal to Muslim women because we want our men to marry us, Insha'Allah.
Firstly I understand one of the reasons Muslim men are allowed to marry non Muslim women is not because they are more fitting, but because men are more likely to influence women more than women are likely to influence men.

My understanding of it is that Muslim men are allowed to marry believing women who do not associate any partners with Allah.
Example: So if she is Christain she should not see Jesus (Isa) as a partner of Allah's or as Allah.

If a Muslim man marries a Christain women or an believing woman who associates partners with Allah then he is in era according to the beliefs of Al-Islam and for sure Allah.

I had to bring this up because it happens so much within the Muslim society.
Can you tell me what you think or beleive about this,

Thanks

Walaikum As Salaam Brother Ajisafe,

Alhumdi'Alllah always.

My apologies brother for mixing your gender up. I enjoyed your responses as well. It's always good to talk and grow with Muslims.

Yeah that goodguy wink. I gave up trying to figure him out after a few post ago.
Religion gets sticky for some people and we have difficulties being just in our views. I actually love religion it's very interesting.

Well I'm off to bed.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by Kenya(f): 3:08am On Dec 10, 2005
As I said before You can lead a man to the well but you can not force them to drink from the well.

I read the verses carfully enough to trust that they would give right guidance.

The difference in both of our understandings the verses is that I have an Islamic base that supports my common senses, which guided me through my studies. One of the great difference in our religions is one greatly guides logic (Islam) and the other greatly guides emotions (Christianity).

I have difficulty following your logic to the end of it's conclusion.

No a spirit does not have flesh and bones, yet it lives inside and outside of flesh and bones.
I would like to think that everyone knows that they have a spirit within their bodies. I'm not sure how we are able to live without a spirit which is different from the soul.  ( I hope we know that by now especially if were are talking about having wisdom)

So yes Mohammad had a spirit just as Jesus did (PBUT).

As I said before, The first verses I Corinthians 3:16,17 & 6:19,20 pointed out the fact that the holy spirit lives within the human body.
Allah said in the translation that he lives within us and that our bodies are a temple that we must respect and take care of. The spirit of Allah living within us all.

The second verses  I Corinthians 12:4,5 (my apologies for the era, but a true student would have understood the era.)
This verses pointed out that the holy spirit can be found in many people other than Jesus and other religions outside of Christianity.
In-fact it gives credit to the spirit being expressed in many ways, yet it has the same G-D Allah.

the third verses John 14:15,16,17 Jesus tells us that he will pray for us to have a comforter. Someone who will be of him as he was of Allah.
Jesus said that if we knew his works then we would know and follow the comforter. Jesus said that the comforter will reflect the same work that he represented. He didn't say that he will be a Christain in the way that you understand Christainity. (Too narrow)

Again the holy spirit is not visable, nor was it visable in Jesus but we believed that the holy spirit influenced his actions, truth and righteousness.
In fact is was his actions of the truth that he used to help us believe in him being sent from Allah.

In the same chapter in the above verses Jesus also says that many of you claim to follow me but you know me not.

So again I am un clear of the bases of your Logic if I could in fact call it Logic.
I would say the same questions that you pose about Mohammad you should pose about Jesus and if you find the answers to be fitting for Jesus then they are fitting for Mohammad (PBUH). They were both righteous human beings created by Allah.

I also referred you to study the life of Prophet Mohammad if you doubted what Jesus said, or mis-understood. ( You did not)
I also said that the translation that you read will defiantly be important, yet the principle should be the same for those who understand.

I am Muslim yes but I strive not to be bias in my views. I am always open to the truth from every angle, because I believe that Allah is greater than a religion. Allah is greater than anything that we can imagine.

Having saying that I honestly thought this forum was about Mohammad within the bible?
I am not here to wage in a war against you if I don't have too, Although I have no problem in doing so.
I just don't see the necessity of it.

I know Christian Pastors who say that the Bible is complexed. Complexed is not a negative thing, it simply means that it takes great understanding, knowledge and wisdom to intrepid it. Wisdom alone does not do it alone.

According to my knowledge,
Wisdom shows us how to use knowledge correctly.
I don't see that I have mis-used any knowledge here.

I think we all know that the Bible is a book of stories according to Jesus disciples and those who had views and that it was strongly influenced by William Shakesphear, which makes it difficult to understand. The bible contains very little imput from Allah and Jesus. Only what people think they have said. This is speculation of the perceived truth, it doesn't make it the abosolute truth. Big difference.

Have you seen a real original Bible?  Have you read it in it's original form? If not then you are only reading a translation that is an interpretation of what is being said?

Have you read the book of Barnabas? This is an addition to the Bible that is not greatly known about but it is defiantly clear about who Jesus is.
Many of my Christian friends are beginning to read it and tell me great things about it.

If you find the Bible to be clear for you to understand and you feel comfortable that you understand it in it's proper context and beyond the words that are written then May Allah continue to bless your understanding.

To tell me to be wise and to check my references before I put them out is a correct thing to say if you have found era.

But I don't see where the era is on my behalf other than maybe posting on this forum trying to build with people who seem to want to make this  Christian verses Islam forum.

Truthfully you have not displayed a greater level of Wisdom that qualifies you to justly asses my knowledge and wisdom displayed.
You displayed ignorant arrogance with no clear logic, if anything.
You seem to be emotional rather than logical. Being logical requires a response not a reaction. To react is to be emotional.
Big difference, especially if we are speaking of having wisdom.

Your questions truthfully made me sad because I wondered what might you have been thinking, especially if you say that you believe in Jesus.
Those questions displayed dis-belief in Jesus.

Until you read about the life of Prophet Mohammah then you are not qaulified to speak on him.
Unitil you read the Qu'Arn then you are not qaulified to speak on Islam.
How can you search within the Bible for someone whom which you do not know?

This is insane because you can not find someone you do not know, and you will always be blind to him until you know him.

I will not be posting on this post anymore because I am not going to give any energy to you hitting your head against the wall.
To engage in war against you would not be just because you appear to be ignorant about your own Religion.

Being Muslim requires that I respect and have a great understanding of Christainity inorer to respect the form that Allah rvealed his knowledge in and defintly give respect to all of the Great Prophets that walked the eart.

Islam speaks of Prophets that I'm sure you have never herd of. I can find the truth of the Bible within the Qu'Arn, but only the truth.
Islam inclueds everything from the beginning of time until the end.

May Allah continue to guide, protect and bless us all.
Only Allah can give understanding.

@ Sweetnini
Why be on the post looking for Mohammad within the Bible then reject the readings?
Why even post a response, it only shows ignorance.

This is a pitty because you are my people. sad
Islam for Muslims / Re: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by Kenya(f): 8:53am On Dec 09, 2005
Firstly let me say that Allah gives understanding to whom he pleases and when he wills.

did you read the verses or study them?

The type of Translation you read is very important as well.
I have a study bible which is different from the average Bible that people read.
My Bible may be the same as the Pastors.

In addition to that as I suggested before, please read and study the life of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

The connection is there for those who truly seek. But when you seek you have to be very open and willing to accept what you find.
Again you will not find it spelled out in words because it is hidden, that's just how the bible is, the jewels of it is hidden.

Again the Bible is a very complexed book (No disrespect intended).
It is not an easy book to intrepid.
Religion / Re: Jesus Prophesied and Warned: Paul is False Prophet/Messiah by Kenya(f): 8:41am On Dec 09, 2005
As Salaamu Aliakum,

Bis'Millah A Rahman A Rahim

Brother,

Please know that I am your sister for sure and I am not in opposition to you in no way, I am only seeking clarity.
I'm struggling with posting this message because many people who are not Muslim will view it.

With the highest regard, I read many of your post and Al-Halmdi Allah for your knowledge. Are you an Imam in your community?

Please do not take this to be disrespectful but as I read your post I wondered the significance of Paul being a false prophet as it relates to Al-Islam?

My thought after reading your post,

Allah has already set the standard for what is of the truth reveled within the Qu'Arn.
Allah respects the choice of man practicing what he chooses.

We should be inviting to others. Others should feel welcomed within our company,
they should not be comfortable with anything less than the truth
but they should be comfortable as human beings. This is Al-Islam.

Allah knows best.

My concern is that I kno how arrogant we Muslims can be once we are exposed to the knowledge, wisdom and understanding of Islam because it is so absolute and profound.  Many of us are not aware of our arrogance either because it is such a fine line with being confident in what you know and believe. ( I am very guilty of this at times, but we thank Allah for the opportunity to grow.)

There is no God but Allah and Allah is the all knowing and all Wise.

As Muslims we are not in competition of truth with any other religion because it is not necessary.
According to Allah he has made it clear what he has perfected and preferred.

Allah tells us as Muslims to argue in the best manner and regard.
That indicates respect for the other party.

Allah also tells us to be as soft as Milk with the believers but be as firm as a rock with the disbelievers.
For me it is clear that the disbelievers are those who do not believe in Allah, not those who do not practice Islam.

Allah speaks of the people of the book as I am sure you are aware of.

Allah tells us to fight when we are approached and only if someone is keeping us from worshiping Allah. We are to use our common sesnses firstly.
Unless an enemy establishes himself as an enemy then whom are we to fight?

My hope is for us as Muslims to establish a post that is educational about Al-Islam. One that build on the 5 pillars of Islam, 6 pillars of Iman and the life of our Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and our everyday struggles as Muslims in our communities and the world. I think this would be a more effective strategy for educating people about who we are and how we live our lives out as Muslims. What do you say?

As Salaamu Alaikum,

-Kenya

Okay I found some of it.

Firstly let's build on what the holy spirit is and where it can be found and who it can be found in.

I Corinthians 3:16,17 & 6:19,20

Next lets build on how the truth may come in different forms of goverments, administrations that's different from Christianity

I Corinthians 12:45

Okay now lets build on what to look for after Jesus (PBUH)

John 14:15,16,17

You can lead a man to the fountain but you can not force him to drink.

With that being said I am not here to impose anything upon anyone, I'm just pointing out truth and striving my hardest to translate it in it's proper context so that we all may understand.

Be well everyone

Actually Prophet Mohammad is mentioned in the Bible.

If you are looking for his name then No, you will not find him but if you are looking for the comforter who will come in Jesus name then you will find him.

My suggestion is to study Mohammed's (PBUH) life and you will see the comfort that Jesus spoke of.

I'm searching the Bible for the verses and then I will post them, I just wanted to give you some light about the question.

@ nferyn,

I do understand your point and I think it's true that the things listed are not specific to the European culture, yet it is commonly found among that culture. There are many people of the European culture who use different methods than what was listed and they are exceptional.

Now If I were to be speculating about the things that I listed within my current post then that would be wrong of me. But what I listed is not speculation, it's merely factual that can be researched.
The tern Eurocentris was used do to the fact that Caucasian people are originally descendants of Europe, Spain, and other countries close by.
It's very parallel to Black or Brown people who are all originally from Africa Known as the mother land of civilization, the place where the first human lived. Despite the fact that African's all over the world have many uniques ways of practicing our beliefs we are all still African's and our unique expressions of our culture is known as being Afro centric especially here in America. The term Afrocentric gives reference to our essence as African's.

I learned a great deal of what I said by my experience living under the influence of the Dominate culture here in America, from study of cultural practices and from my current professors who are of European descent. I take it that these Caucasian professors are well aware of their history and cultural practices.

At the end of the day as many of us have said, it's very important for us to find healthy methods and strategies for discipling our children.

Sorry Seun,
I'm back to the point.
