Foreign Affairs › I Don't Mourn Prophet T.b Joshua by KEVIND(op): 5:27pm On Jul 09, 2021
We live in a generation of hypocrites, a generation of vipers, a generation that tears down it's own General,
Snr prophet T.B Joshua was called to glory and even Isreal the country of JESUS sent delegate down to Nigeria to honour and condole with the church and family, It was only my father in the Lord Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin and his convenant brothers Dr Chris Okafor and Bro Joshua Iginla Ministries that went there in person to console the family, I was even there with them.

But I looked round, and not even a condolence message from our Big Daddy G.Os in Nigeria that their messages are always about holyness and forgiveness, Oh what is his offence that you can't forgive him even in Death?
I taught it was social media there don't want to post as its not part of their doctrine maybe, I stayed glued to my Television today to watch closely how our big Daddies will come to encourage his wife and children and the church but I found Non.

Oh I don't mourn for T.B joshua but I mourn for Nigeria that had a General that was not valued and respected..
I mourn for Our Holier than thou G.Os that preaches the bible and don't practice it,
I mourn for our Nigeria G.Os that receive questions whether he will go to heaven or not but are custodian of heavy lies on the pulpit that even children cannot try, even their children is emulating their demonic fraternity lifestyle of preachers.

I mourn for a Nation that threw stones at a man for feeding the poor even with his last card,
I mourn for Our Daddy G.Os that uses the church money to Build Universities and schools that their poor or average members children cannot attend,
I mourn for Dr Chris Okotie that failed as a politician, Husband , married to 4 wives and as a pastor that still called him lucifer even In death, you too cannot escape death,
Yes, He has transited to glory and we honour him even in death, his corps is still healing the sick...
But it is Appointed unto man that every soul shall taste Death..
Everybody will die one day and what goes around comes around..
What will happen on the last day will shock everybody!

Politics › Unknown Gunmen attack military base in Delta state, Soldiers killed. by KEVIND(op):
SOLDIERS of the military Joint Task Force, JTF, have locked down Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, in the last five days, following an attack and killing of soldiers by suspected hoodlums at a military base in Obodo community, Warri South, a neighbouring local government area of the state.

The blockade by soldiers, which has made it impossible for people to come in or go out of the area since last week, has led to the food crisis in the affected communities with over 200,000 residents trapped.

The people in an SOS through the President of Egbema Leaders of Thought, Elder Edmund Tiemo, to the Chief of Army Staff, and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, among others, yesterday, said: “We wish to draw the attention of the civilised world to the fact that Egbema people in Delta State are currently facing starvation.

“It is comparable only to what is happening in the Tigray region, where Ethiopian soldiers refused to allow UN peacekeepers and food to get to the civil population.

“While they denied our people food and medical attention, the army moved food to soldiers who guide critical oil facilities in our land.

“They have food, light and medical attention in their facilities in our territory, yet, as if it is not enough punishment that we lack these essential commodities.

“Our appeal, therefore, is to the authorities to open the Egbema Kingdom for life to return while the investigation, arrest and prosecution of the hoodlums can continue.

“Neither the people of Egbema Kingdom nor the people of Warri North agreed to the commission of the crime for which we have been punished.

“In other climes, where crime is committed, security men take time to investigate and bring the culprits to justice with the collaboration of the locals.

“We have been and are being punished for a crime that was committed outside our local government area.

“The background to this crisis is the alleged attacked on a military base station at Obodo in Warri South Local Government Area, where soldiers were allegedly killed by hoodlums.

“Although no official statement on the attack has been issued by the JTF, the soldiers had told passengers on the Benin River and Gelegele axis of the attack, thus justifying the blockade of Egbema since July 2, 2021, when the incident reportedly occurred.

“Before this incident, on June 28, 2021, few kilometres from the scene as the Egbema peacekeepers came under attack by unidentified gunmen, leading to loss of several lives. Thus, the military operatives who were attacked are victims just like the Ijaw in the area were also victims of criminal attacks.

“Therefore, it will be wrong for people who have suffered the same magnitude of losses to be subjected to this horror.

“The fundamental rights of the people to move as entrenched in Section 41(1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended have been clearly violated in the guise of chasing after hoodlums.

“Why on earth should the innocent populace suffer because of the crime of an unidentified few? We cannot agree less with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe when he asserted that the Nigerian government of President Buhari operates two sets of laws.

“In the North where criminals kidnap, terrorise and kill both soldiers even school children, none of the communities is unduly punished for the crime of the few.

“President Obasanjo introduced it in Odi in Bayelsa State and now it has been taken to a higher level, whereby a whole kingdom of not less than 200,000 people is under siege for over five days consecutively without movement of people and food items.”

Politics › Buhari Has Mismanaged Nigeria- Colonel Dangiwa Umar Speaks On Nnamdi Kanu Arrest by KEVIND(op): 6:41pm On Jul 07, 2021
By Muhammad Sabiu-Kaduna

Former military governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (retd), has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has exhibited poor skills in managing the diversity in the country.

In a statement entitled “Nigeria: Nation Challenged” and made available to the Tribune Online on Wednesday, Dangiwa said that “it is my long held belief that this country is more beneficial to all the federating units if only because it provides a security umbrella to all its units.”

On the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Dangiwa said: “The recent re-arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was greeted with a loud sigh of relief and celebration in some sections of the country.

“It also elicited congratulatory messages to the Federal Government which appears overwhelmed by the intractable security challenges and in dire need of any redeeming act.

“This is clearly an exaggeration of the security threat Nnamdi Kanu and indeed IPOB pose to our nation’s security and unity.

“It is quite strange and disturbing that the Federal Government is according undue attention to the threats of separatist movements in contrast to the more daunting ones posed by bandits, kidnappers and insurgents in the North-West, some parts of North-Central and North-East.

“Activities of those criminals have resulted in the evacuation of over 20 per cent of the villages in North-West and North-East. Hundreds are being murdered and maimed every week.

“Many more are kidnapped for ransom. Millions have been rendered internally displaced, facing disease and starvation.

“Over 1,000 school children were abducted in the past eight months with over 300 still in the hands of the bandits and kidnappers demanding humongous ransom payments. Rape of women and young girls has become a daily occurrence.

“Most economic activities, particularly farming, which is the mainstay of the people in these areas, are now all but impossible.

“Government’s earlier claim of having technically defeated the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East has turned out to be empty propaganda. Contrary to this claim, the enemy has morphed into a more determined and deadly force, threatening to overrun the whole of the North-East.

“For the average Northerner living in these zones, who is barely aware of the activities of separatists, banditry, kidnappings and insurgency are of greater threat and concern to him.

“The arrest of Nnamdi Kanu is of no serious consequence, since it does nothing to ameliorate his harsh and brutal condition.

“In recognising or reasserting the right of every citizen or group to express their desire for self-determination, one does not support or condone the use of violence for such purpose. IPOB and its leader may well be responsible for some of the violence, including the murder of security personnel, arson and destruction of public and private properties for which they should be held to account.

“We must however be honest enough to identify the cause of the current growing restiveness in the South-East. By all means, government needs to deploy non-violent means in addressing the problem. It is self-evident that justice, fairness and equity are the best means of building a united and virile nation, particularly one as diverse and fragile as Nigeria.

“lt is my long held belief that this country is more beneficial to all the federating units if only because it provides a security umbrella to all its units. None of them will fare better in a balkanised Nigeria due to their similar diversities.

“The recognition of Nigeria as the giant of Africa is not on account of its huge oil wealth, but its size, diversity as well as other potential. These notwithstanding, the nation can only remain united and prosperous when all its citizens and the component parts feel a true sense of belonging.

“Without it, the nation’s unity will be in serious jeopardy similar to what Nigeria is currently experiencing.

“Truth be told, the Buhari’s government has so far exhibited poor skills in its management of our diversity. Yet it has the benefit of great examples by past administrations and statesmen which should guide it.

After our bitter Civil War, the then Head of the Federal Military Government, General Yakubu Gowon, declared a no victor, no vanquished reconciliation and reintegration policy.

“Its implementation may not have been perfect but it produced a guiding vision which served as a template for the reintegration of the nation.

“In 1978, eight years after the Civil War, the NPN presidential candidate, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, a former Commissioner for Finance in the Gowon government, picked his running mate, Dr Alex Ekwueme, from the South-East.

“They won the 1979 presidential election and enjoyed an enviable brotherly relationship as president and vice president. They won a second term in 1983. President Shagari’s government pardoned the former Biafra secessionist leader, Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, which permitted him to return from exile in 1982. He went on to contest a senatorial seat under the NPN.

“These are in sharp contrast to the declaration of President Buhari after his election in 2015 in which he promised not to treat, on equal terms, those who gave him only five per cent of their votes with those who gave him over 97 per cent of theirs.

“This may account for his government’s refusal to appoint an Igbo as head of any of the security services. A review of this ill-advised policy will go a long way to neutralise the growing influence of IPOB among Ndigbo, both at home and in diaspora.

“The Federal Government must go beyond the arrest of Kanu and pay greater attention to the more serious security challenges threatening to cripple the country completely.

“The apparent failure of our security forces to deal decisively as the president so often commands them to do, with these security threats is obviously due to the acute shortage of manpower and equipment.

“These deficiencies have resulted in the thin spread of our forces and lack of timely rotation in areas of conflict. Government must massively increase security manpower and equipment. As we have seen, mere change of service chiefs would appear far from being the solution.”

Politics › Thank You For Shielding Me, Joshua’s Widow, Evelyn Tells TB Joshua by KEVIND(op): 9:09am On Jul 07, 2021
The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), yesterday, held a service of tributes in honour of its founder, Prophet T.B. Joshua, who died on June 5.

The event held at SCOAN premises, Ikotun, Lagos State was one of Joshua’s burial activities.

In a tribute, Joshua’s widow, Evelyn, said that her 31 years of marriage to the late cleric was not without trials.

She said that her husband taught her to understand that trials strengthened children of God.

“For gold to become gold, it must pass through fire,” she said. Evelyn said that her husband was dedicated to his ministry.

“You grew the church from an eight-member assembly sitting on a mat, to the ‘level we are today’. You grew me to be the woman I am today.

“I stand here today to say thank you for choosing me, caring for me and nurturing me. Thank you for being a good father to the children, thank you for shielding me from those who were bent on soiling our lives; you were undeterred,” Evelyn said.

She said that her husband spent his life on things that would outlive him.

Evelyn said her husband’s death was peaceful, but regretted that he would no longer be seen on earth.

“It is, however, comforting that you have gone home after service; sleep on my beloved. Sleep on my God’s general.”

Joshua’s first daughter, Mrs Sarah Joshua-Moshi, said that her father taught her everything she knew about the Word of God. She said that her father created time to care for her and her siblings. He told me that the work of God is beautiful. Indeed you lived a life of sacrifice till your last moment on earth. I will truly miss your conversations with me. I will truly miss your wisdom.”

Sarah added that her father dedicated his life to humanitarian service. The prophet’s second and third daughters, Promise and Hart, also poured encomiums on him, describing him as a great man and loving father.

His son-in-law, Mr Brian Moshi, said that he lived an exemplary life of service to God and humanity. Moshi said that his father-in-law could do many things at the same time.

“You were a great teacher, yet a good student, a lion, yet a lamb. I have doubted so many times if you were human; you never waited for tomorrow to accomplish what could be done today,” Moshi said.

He described the late prophet as a trail blazer. The event was anchored by two comedians, Gbenga Adeyinka and K. C. Brown.

Politics › Mele Kyari Wants 2.5 Percent For Oil Communities In PIB by KEVIND(op): 6:48am On Jul 06, 2021
Mele Kyari: pushes for 2.5 percent to oil communities in PIB

Mele Kolo Kyari, the NNPC boss may have incurred the wrath of oil communities by asking the National Assembly to peg at 2.5 percent oil profit payable to host communities, according to the Petroleum Industry Bill.

While the House of Representatives in the version of the bill passed provides 5 percent to the communities, the Senate put it at 3 percent.

Both chambers are scheduled to meet this week to harmonise the two bills before it is passed for President Buhari’s signature.

But Kyari at a forum in Abuja on Monday, urged the National Assembly to lower the share of oil producing communities to 2.5 percent.

“It was a very, very considered proposal from the executive that we should make it 2.5%,” Kyari told an oil summit in Abuja, adding that it makes business sense and would be “sufficient to deliver value to these communities”.

He warned that too large a stake would drive big oil companies out of Nigeria, leaving a gap that local producers would struggle to fill.

“We are at the verge of losing them. That is the truth,” he said of the oil majors.

Senator Sabi Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of the Senate president, said the two chambers would agree on a finalised package before recess this month.

“It is not possible for us to abandon this before we go on vacation,” Abdullahi said.

But Kyari spoke on a day that the umbrella political group for the oil producing region of Niger Delta, PANDEF, demanded 10 percent.

Chief Edwin Clark, leader of the group, whose speech was delivered in Abuja, described the PIB, satanic, unjust and embarrassing to Niger Delta.

He said it has dashed the hope of the people of the Niger Delta region.

Clark said the provision that allocated a huge 30% of profits for further frontier oil exploration in the north was a source of concern.

He said it is an absurd provision especially in a fast changing world as investment shifts away from fossil fuel.

Clark declared that the region has had enough of the post-colonial oppression and will be resisting it.

He said the bill does not reflect the long clamour by the people of the region for equity, fairness and justice.

He warned that Niger Delta will take their destinies in their hands and deny International Oil Companies (IOCs) entry into the region should the National Assembly fail to reverse the passed bill.

“Given the depth of ingratitude expressed and delivered after decades of exploitation and neglect of the region, the entire people of the Niger Delta region, for and on behalf of the host communities, vehemently reject the following aspects of the bill: the 3% and 5% of Operating Expenditure granted to the Host Communities; the fraudulent and provocative 30% provision for the Frontier Exploration Fund.

“And now demand: the PIB must be reversed, reviewed and amended to ensure that the Oil-Bearing Communities must now receive not less than 10% of Operating Cost.

“If this is not done, the Niger Delta people may be forced to take their destiny into their own hands and all IOCs may find themselves denied access to their oil activities in such communities.”

Governors of Southern states at a Forum in Lagos on Monday supported 5 percent share for oil communities.

“The Forum rejects the proposed 3% and support the 5% share of the oil revenue to the host community as recommended by the House of Representatives;

“The forum also rejects the proposed 30% share of profit for the exploration of oil and gas in the basins”, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of oil producing Ondo state said.

Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer has boasted that by the time he and Nnamdi Kanu finish with the Kenyan Government at the International Court of Justice, Kenya won't remain the same.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor made this known during an interview with Arise TV, where he expressed anger over the fact that the Kenyan Government took part in his client's arrest.

Speaking on the incident, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor reiterated his allegations that Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenya and had been tortured there before being taken to Nigeria.

He had previously alleged that Nnamdi Kanu was sedated by the Kenyan authorities and was subjected to several forms of torture before he was handed over to Nigerian authorities.

When reminded that the Kenyan Government had denied that Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in their country, barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor said that he was happy that they were denying it.

He revealed further that his client, Nnamdi Kanu was actually arrested in Kenya on trumped-up charges and was thereafter tortured by the security operatives.

Exclusive Interview With Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor on Arise News Morning Show Today

His statement stems from the fact that Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor and his client had sued the Kenyan Government in the International Court of Justice.

There is a collaboration between the federal government and Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja to deny Biafra separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu a fair trial, his lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has alleged.

Mr Ejiofor stated this on Monday when he featured on an ARISE News programme, The Morning Show.

He noted that the mere fact that Kanu was allowed to address the court in his absence shows that the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) will not get a fair trial.

According to Mr Ejiofor, his client was abducted in Kenya and subjected to inhuman treatment and torture. He told ARISE news that Mr Kanu was handed over to the Nigerian government in an unconscious state.

Ijaw Leaders Meet British Govt, Seeks Support To Leave Nigeria

The leadership of Ijaw nation has met with the British government seeking support to leave Nigeria and end the suffering of the people.

A delegation of the Ijaw leadership led by the President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof Benjamin Okaba made this known during a meeting with representatives of the British High Commission led by Mr John Kekeh, at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Okaba who presented a seven-page address on behalf of the Ijaw nation to the British High Commission delegation lamented that the British government abandoned the Ijaw people after deceiving them to join Nigeria with the assurance that they would be well taken care of.

The Ijaws in their summation said the people are no longer at ease with the contraption called Nigeria.

“Again in the light of truth, good conscience, fairness, equity and justice would the British people and her government be perpetually silent and feign ignorance to the excruciating plight of the Ijaw people.

“Furthermore, perhaps the once colonial masters would with all intent and purpose act to rescue the ugly situation- may we ask if not now then when?

“We are indeed eager and anxious to know: is your intervention coming when we are completely ripped off our God given Oil and Gas natural resources and abandoned to our fate in a wallowing and criminally degraded environment without remediation.

“In all honesty, would that not be a crime against humanity where the British government would be seen as accomplices,” he said.

Okaba while reiterating that the Ijaw people would leave Nigeria peacefully and legally called on the British government to come and undo what they did decades ago by forcing them into Nigeria.

“The visitation is about us telling them that you (British) brought us into Nigeria and they should play their role to take us out of this country. The British have the moral duty to take us out. We were deceived to join Nigeria; they abandoned us and deceived us. Let them do the needful. As Ijaw people we are tired of this country. We have suffered in this country; we have carried the burden of this nation on our shoulders for too long. We have placed minimum conditions. The first condition is the restoration of true federalism. Number two, we have to be placed not as balkanised people. We cannot be scattered into different states and make us minorities and slaves. We cannot be slaves in a place where our resources are used to sustain the people. It is unacceptable. So Ijaw people are saying to the Federal Government that if this minimum requirement is not met, we are no longer committed to the Nigerian project. And that if we are leaving as Ijaw republic, we shall do it peacefully and legally. This is the message we are sending to the British High Commission and to the British Government to come and undo what they did.”

Kekeh in his response promised to deliver the message back to the leadership of the British High Commission

Politics › Bloomberg :Nnamdi Kanu was Illegally Repatriated - U.S Lobbyists by KEVIND(op):
Nigeria Secessionist Leader Illegally Repatriated, Lobbyists Say
By William Clowes

IPOB leader fled Nigeria in 2017 while on trial for treason
Government says it has followed judicial, legal processes

Nigeria’s government illegally detained and repatriated Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of a separatist movement active in the country’s southeastern region, according to his U.S. lobbyists.

BW Global Group LLC said it’s confident that Kanu, who heads the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, was captured in another county “via an unlawful rendition by the Nigerian security forces.” Kanu hired the firm in March to advocate for his secessionist group within the U.S. Department of State and Congress.

Kanu, who fled Nigeria in 2017 while on trial for treason, resurfaced in the country on June 27 and appeared before a federal court in the capital, Abuja, two days later where his court case was adjourned for a month.

The IPOB leader was “intercepted through the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian intelligence and security services,” Attorney General Abubakar Malami said on June 29 without providing any further information about how or where he was seized.

BW Global, which didn’t specify where they understand Nigerian forces caught Kanu, said his unlawful rendition “would violate international law.” A complaint about the treatment of Kanu, a dual Nigerian-British citizen, has been made to the U.K. High Commission in Abuja, the Washington-based company said by email on Thursday.

The High Commission said Kanu wasn’t arrested in or extradited from the U.K. and it was seeking clarification about the circumstances of his detention from the Nigerian government. The U.K. would expect any trial or legal proceedings to follow due process, it said.

Kanu has been denied access to legal representation and is currently in the custody of Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services, his lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor said by phone on Friday.

The arrest warrant for Kanu was “lawfully and judiciously procured” from the court after he breached its bail conditions “with impunity,” Umar Gwandu, the attorney general’s spokesman, said by text message. He declined to respond to questions about the circumstances of the IPOB leader’s return to Nigeria. Kanu has been represented by a lawyer throughout the judicial process, Gwandu said.

Nigeria’s government declared IPOB a terrorist group in 2017 and has blamed recent attacks targeting security agents in southeastern Nigeria on the group’s armed wing. Malami has accused Kanu of inciting deadly violence against personnel of the Nigerian state while based abroad.

Politics › Southern Governors To Meet In Lagos On Monday by KEVIND(op): 9:12pm On Jul 02, 2021
Southern governors will on Monday converge in Lagos for a meeting, following the recent one held last May 11, 2021, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, which focus was on recent happenings in the polity and security concerns in the country and particularly in their domain.

Tribune Online gathered that the planned meeting, which is to be hosted by the Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will take place at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, with all the 17 governors in the region expected to attend.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that the parley would discuss issues relating to Insecurity, True Federalism, Open Grazing, State Police, restructuring, food security, among others.

Besides, it was learnt that the meeting is expected to discuss the gains of the last meeting and the next move to make.

It would be recalled that the governors, at the last meeting which was hosted by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and attended by 15 of the 17 Southern governors, arrived at a 12-point resolution which included the banning of Open Grazing of cattle in all the states.

They also agreed that the progress of the nation required that urgent and bold steps be taken to restructure the Nigerian Federation leading to the evolution of State Police, even as they called for the review of revenue allocation formula in favour of the sub-national governments as well as the creation of other institutions which legitimately advance commitment to the practice of true federalism.

Politics › Why Niger Delta Militants ‘kept Cool’ Since 2016 — Niger Delta Avengers by KEVIND(op): 2:18pm On Jul 02, 2021
The Niger Delta Avengers has explained reasons behind its recent threat to embark on bombing of oil installations if the Federal Government fails to meet its demands for restructuring of the country.

The group issued the threat on Sunday, June 27, and gave the government 90 days ultimatum.

But the presidency immediately replied the group, saying the threat was unnecessary as the FG was already working to address their concerns.

But in an exclusive interview with THE WHISTLER at their base on a creek, leader of the Avengers, Brigadier Tu-Uge Princewill, said the group and others had remained “cool” since the wave of bombings it instigated in 2016 in order to give the FG time to address Niger Delta problems.

Princewill, the first female commander of the group, said they had also used the period to build formidable “armies.”

She stated: “Since 2016 we kept our cool and concentrated on strengthening our armies. We decided to see if the so-called Federal Government will do the right things and act without being pushed nor reminded.

“It pains me heavily that the Buhari led administration is just bent on causing chaos rather than resolving and proffering solutions to the request and ills of the Niger Delta Region.”

Princewill commended ljaw leaders and other Niger Delta groups for their patience and effort, but warned that it was ready to fight for its demands.

“We gave an ultimatum and Buhari is taking us for granted. He feels what we warned against are mere threats. But he will understand at the expiration of the deadline if our demands are not me,” she stated, adding that Nigeria would see what it had never seen before.

But she would not be dragged into making comments on the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

She dismissed the question saying “We are Niger Delta Avengers not IPOB.”

Politics › Annkio Briggs: Danger Looms If Nigeria Fails To Restructure by KEVIND(op): 7:12am On Jun 29, 2021
Annkio Briggs is an environmental and Niger Delta activist. In this interview monitored on African Independent Television (AIT), she speaks on President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent interviews, rising secessionist agitations in the country, South-South and South-East relationship, restructuring, among others

What is your reaction to President Buhari’s comment on South-East and south-South in his recent interviews?

Just before the Democracy Day, the President made two statements which are really amazing when you realize that this is our president who does not speak to Nigerians.

So, to make those statements back to back, three days in a row, it means that the president wanted to say something to the South-South and to the South-East.

Almost everything he said, I view them and understood them to be threats and not really talking to the people of South-South or the people of the South-East, who are really people from the old Eastern region that the Nigerian government engaged in a war almost six decades ago.

Everything for me was a threat. There was nothing said to indicate that the President understood or wanted to understand what the people of the South-South and South-East have been saying. And even the whole southern region, which include Yoruba people as well and by a large extension the Middle Belt people.

We do remember the president saying that he belongs to everybody and does not belong to anyone in particular from his first term in office and this is happening now where references are made for a particular part of the country being a dot in a circle, how do you review that from a man who said he belongs to everyone?

I have always spoken from a platform of being aware of how we got independence and when our national anthem was something of brotherhood, though tongue and tribe may differ but in brotherhood, we stand. That is the Nigeria I’m speaking from.

Two, looking at what the President said ‘I belong to no one, I belong to everybody,’ which was also something that he picked up from another president, but he debunked that immediately he was sworn in, which was one of the phrases in his ceremonial speech.

And he travelled to America and when he was asked what he intended to do about the agitation of the Niger Delta people if you could recall that the president immediately made it very clear that there were people he regarded as 97 per cent Nigerians and people he regarded as five per cent.

Now, 97 plus five is actually 102 and so maybe the other extra were people that were going to come into Nigeria.

What kind of interpretation do you make of that comment; ‘Dot in a Circle’?

Well, unfortunately, or maybe historically as someone who witnessed the war and I’m a victim and some of my family members were victims of the civil war. I recall the civil war, I understand the civil war, I know what led to the civil war.

The President in that interview was peaking as a warlord. He was speaking as a general at war with a country.

That was the way he spoke. He referred to the Igbo people because I don’t know how many people from my community or state, who have businesses in Kano, Kaduna or Lagos. He was referring specifically to the Igbo people and reminding them that they have a lot of property and investments outside the area he has described as dot.

The whole of Igbo nation is not Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). IPOB is a movement headed by a group of people. IPOB is not an identity of nationality. The President made a claim which made me to react.

The President made a claim and said that he heard and pointed to his ears and said ‘nobody told me, I heard that leaders, elders and youths of South-South have promised that this time…’

What is this time? It means he is anticipating a war. He said this time there will be no access to the ocean. What does he mean?

The war was not about access to the ocean and it was not fought in the ocean. The war was fought on land that is today South-East and South-South. And the majority of the damage was done to the people and land of these areas.

We were formerly of the Eastern Region and I want to make this clear. My people of the Niger Delta Region, particularly the Ijaws, did not wage war against the Igbos, it was the Federal Government that waged war against Ndigbo.

How do you define the president’s state of mind right now because as we used to say that it was the presidency, not the president, but now, we have heard from the President and his body language and state of mind looks like a man who knows what he is talking about?

I totally agree with you. From the moment he gave that first interview, I said, now we have a president who wants to tell Nigerians something.

The Nigerians he is speaking to are the Nigerians who are being attacked and killed. He is speaking to Nigerians that he believes are conquered people. Now, you asked me of my take.

This is my take: I’m old enough to be responsible and to have the responsibility to speak the truth both to myself and to anybody who cares to listen. I hate to speak about anybody’s body language but the President’s so-called body language is one of war, is one of disdain and disregard.

It is an oppressive position to take against the people of South-East and South- South, and actually jamming the heads of the most critical people today in Nigeria, the South-South and the South-East.

You talked about restructuring, but it is very obvious from the body language of Mr. President that he will not consider that. What do you think is the danger ahead?

The danger is so blatantly clear and I’m surprised that we are even discussing it because for the past six years, this government came into power, telling Nigerians who voted for them, I didn’t vote for them that they understood what restructuring is.

And they campaigned on restructuring but some of us know having listened to the President in the past before he became president that he doesn’t believe in restructuring. He said that he will not even look at the 2014 National Conference and he was not going to do anything about it.

Politics › World Bank Says Nigerian Businesses Lose N11trn Annually To Poor Electricity Sup by KEVIND(op): 5:17pm On Jun 28, 2021
The World Bank has said that the epileptic power supply in the country costs businesses $29b, more than 11 trillion naira, in annual losses. The World Bank made these remarks in the Power Sector Recovery Programme fact sheet which presented by Ashish Khanna, the Bank’s Practice Manager, West and Central Africa Energy, during a virtual dialogue.

The World Bank also observed that Nigeria had the largest number of people without access to electricity in the world, as every one in 10 people without access to electricity now reside in Nigeria.

“Businesses in Nigeria lose about $29bn annually because of unreliable electricity. Nigerian utilities get paid for only a half of electricity they receive.

“For every N10 worth of electricity received by Discos (distribution companies), about N2.60 is lost in poor distribution infrastructure and through power theft and another N3.40 is not being paid for by customers.

“Six in 10 of registered customers are not metered, and their electricity bills are not transparent and clear. This contributes to resistance to pay electricity bills,” read the report.

The PSRP document observed that only 51 per cent of Nigeria’s installed capacity was available for generation, as an average Nigerian consumed four times less energy than his counterpart in a typical lower middle-income country .

The report said that every Nigerian paid less for electricity than what it costs to supply electricity to them and that successive administrations had adopted a policy of subsidizing the power sector.

“But richer families use more electricity; so a big chunk of government support ends up going to those who do not really need help with paying bills,” it stated.

The World Bank described the PSRP as a comprehensive response to Nigeria’s power challenges with the aim of reinvigorating the country’s economy by rebuilding a functioning and fair power sector.

The report said that between June 2020 and February 2021, the World Bank Board approved $1.25bn financing to support the government in its efforts to reset the power sector.

The Buhari Administration had earlier blamed the problems in the power sector on the sale of power generation and distribution companies to incompetent investors

Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, had said that the Administration had spent N1.7trn to subsidize electricity tariff after the previous administration sold and handed over to the investors.

He said the expenditure is no longer sustainable especially under the prevailing economic conditions. Mr Mohammed said that the country’s revenue and foreign exchange earnings had dropped sharply by almost 60 per cent due to the downturn in the fortunes of the oil sector and that the federal government could no longer afford to subsidize the power sector.

Politics › Niger Delta Avengers Names Woman As New Leader & Field Commander by KEVIND(op): 4:04pm On Jun 28, 2021
The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has named a woman, identified as Tu-ere, aka Queen of the Creeks as its new leader and Field Commander.

The Niger Delta militant group, in a statement on Saturday said “The high command of the NDA has promoted and appointed one of our finest operatives, Field Commander Tu-ere, aka Queen of the Creeks to the rank of Brigadier-General.

“She is an experienced field agent who before now was the head of the counter intelligence unit of the NDA, using her connections with top government and security officials to deliver on her assignment.

“She was part of our Elite Strike Teams that attacked and took down the Chevron Valve platform on the 4th of May, 2016; the Shell Forcados 48-inch Export line on the 3rd of June, 2016; and the Exxon Mobil Qua Iboe 48 Crude Oil Pipeline on the 11th of July, 2016,” it said.

The group said Tu-ere was the first female to ever attain this level and that it was solely out of merit that she is placed in charge by the High Command of the NDA, to execute Operation Humble.

“As a gender-friendly organization, we are using this avenue to encourage other female operatives within the rank and file of the NDA to be inspired by the rising profile of the Queen of the Creeks and never to deter in delivering on our mission to liberate our people and God-given resources from the shackles of the oppressive Nigerian Government. We advise other female operatives to emulate her and be dedicated to our mission at all times.

“Conclusively, we wish to state unequivocally and in simple terms that we are back with Operation Humble, with the aim of humbling the economy into permanent recession and political players from the Niger Delta extraction to political retirement.

“There will be no going back until the Nigerian economy is humbled into recession never to rise again!”, the statement concluded,” the group said.

Politics › How A Soldier Ran Out Of Bullet But Escape By Hiding In The Mud- Man Narrates by KEVIND(op): 4:55pm On Jun 27, 2021
A resident of the Bungudu community in Zamfara state has shared the story of a soldier who reportedly escaped from bandits after running out of ammunition. Residents of the community had taken to the Zamfara-Sokoto highway to protest the continuous attacks on their community by gunmen.

Some residents of the Bungudu community recently blocked the Zamfara-Sokoto Highway while demanding the return of soldiers to help protect them from incessant attacks by bandits. Some of the protesters took the opportunity to share details of their ordeal with the press.

During an interview, one of the protesters revealed that he witnessed the slaughter of a soldier and the shooting of a police officer. Explaining further, the protester narrated the story of how a soldier escaped with his life during a battle against bandits

It was gathered that a soldier ran out of ammunition after the magazine of his rifle ran out of bullets. The soldier reportedly proceeded to take off his uniforms, hide his rifle and roll in the mud as camouflage. The insurgents however arrived at the scene but they did not see the soldier.

It was also learnt that the said soldier raised his hand after community residents arrived at the place where he hid. The protester claims they almost shot the soldier unknowingly until the affected soldier spoke in the English language and identified himself.

The man claims the soldier was thereafter brought out of the mud and taken back to town. The residents lamented that soldiers have been withdrawn from their community.

Politics › Buhari Reacts To Niger Delta Avengers’ Threat To Shutdown Oil Production by KEVIND(op): 3:44pm On Jun 27, 2021
DEMANDS BY NIGER DELTA AVENGERS: PRESIDENT BUHARI’S RESPONSE

The media was Sunday awash with threats and demands by a group, Niger Delta Avengers, to embark on economic sabotage through bombing of critical oil and gas installations unless certain demands, including development of the Niger Delta, and restructuring of the Federation, were met.

It is, however, curious that the threat was coming less than 48 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari met with the leadership of the Niger Delta and Ijaw National Congress (INC), at the Presidential Villa, and the germane issues had been responded to, especially call for restructuring of the Federation, and the inauguration of a Board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

For clarity and record purposes, below is full text of the speech by President Buhari on Friday, June 25, 2021, which renders any sabre-rattling rather unnecessary:

“I warmly welcome all the Elders of the Niger Delta and particularly the National Executive of the Ijaw National Congress, under the leadership of Professor Benjamin Okaba. I thank you for paying this courtesy visit not too long after your election in April, and swearing-in last May.

“I also want to congratulate you all for your election and to add that a lot of responsibility is placed on your shoulders, especially coming from the fact that the Ijaw National Congress was almost without leadership for some time.

“As the symbol of the collective voice of the Ijaw people, which is one of Nigeria’s main ethnic groups, the existence of a focused and people oriented leadership would go a long way in articulating the demands of the Ijaw people and making sure these demands are made part of the national discourse.

“I particularly note your ten point demand to the Federal Government in your inaugural speech and assure you that this administration is frontally addressing them.

“I am equally concerned about the rate of environmental degradation in the Niger Delta and as you are aware the HydroCarbon Pollution Remediation Project has started work with remediation efforts in Ogoni land and I have directed the Minister of Environment to ensure that the projects are implemented with a high percentage of local content and inclusion of the surrounding communities.

“Similarly, the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, under the same ministry of Environment is working to make sure that oil spills are reduced and new ones prevented. As you are also aware, all the responsible agencies of government have been directed to ensure that they enforce compliance by the International Oil Companies to international best practices.

“In addressing your call for immediate restructuring, the National Assembly whose responsibility it is to ensure that our constitution responds to the call for a restructured Nigeria, has already concluded regional consultations and as soon as they finalise the process, necessary action would not be delayed on my part.

“In the same vein, your call for creation of two additional states and more local government areas for the Ijaw people is a legislative matter, which should naturally be handled by the National Assembly and seeking concurrence at the state levels.

“I completely agree with your call to allocate operational licenses for marginal fields to Ijaw people. However, like you know, the process of granting licenses is guided by laid down rules and regulations, most of which even favour local content and local contractors. I see no reason why they should not be granted such licenses if they qualify.

“On the issue of fair and balanced appointments to reflect federal character principles, I re-affirm that this has always been my focus and would continue to be because I have always seen Nigeria as a country where everyone should be given equal opportunities.

“A contentious issue that has been a subject of discourse amongst the Ijaw people of recent has been the need for the Niger Delta Development Commission to live up to its billing by delivering the required succour to the people of the region. Based on the mismanagement that had previously be-devilled the NDDC, a forensic audit was set up and the result is expected by the end of July, 2021.

“I want to assure you that as soon as the forensic audit report is submitted and accepted, the NDDC Board would be inaugurated. However, I would like to implore you that the Ijaw National Congress should play a more active role in making sure that the mismanagement that occurred in the past is not repeated.

“I am particularly happy to note your call for promoting ownership of modular refineries by the Ijaw people and I will urge you to interphase with your sons who are involved in the processes of establishing these refineries, especially the Honourable Minister of State Petroleum Resources to actualize this quest.

“Like you well know, completion of the East-West Road is top on my infrastructure agenda and I will look to its speedy conclusion. Again, the occasional disturbance by youths in some communities along the route to construction work would require your close attention and guidance.

“Furthermore, we have made considerable progress with the construction of the Bonny to Port Harcourt Bridge.

“I am very happy with the recent affirmation of your belief in a United Nigeria and while I thank you for standing with me, I will also implore you to use your leverage in making sure that we keep working together to keep this country a united, indivisible entity, so that we can tackle our problems together and overcome our challenges together.

“I would like now to commend Professor Okaba for your emphasis on supporting the fight against insecurity by developing internal control mechanisms as well as working with other institutions in the country to address our current security challenges.

“While I thank you once more for this visit and I will continue to count on your support as we work towards resolving our current challenges.

“God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Politics › How Nigeria ‘Accidentally’ Discovered 206trn Cubic Feet Gas Reserve – Sylva by KEVIND(op): 11:07am On Jun 27, 2021
Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, has said that the country accidentally discovered 206 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves while in search of crude oil.
Sylva, who disclosed this in Abuja at a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) forum, said that the country could discover an additional 600 trillion cubic feet reserve to enable it achieve the desired development required of a gas nation.

“We have a lot of gas in this country. We have 206 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves.

“This number is already discovered in gas reserves and this 206 trillion cubic feet reserve was found while looking for oil, so it was accidentally discovered.

“We were actually going to look for crude oil and we found gas, and in that process of accidentally finding gas, we have found up to 206 tcf.

“So, the belief is that if we really aim to look for gas dedicatedly, we will find up to 600 trillion cubic meters of gas,” he said.

According to the minister, the country’s transition from gas to renewable fuel will be gradual when it has fully utilised the benefits associated with gas.

“We are also transiting and that is why we are talking about gas. We are seeing gas as a bridge to renewable fuels.

“We came from coal which is solid, to crude oil; now we are moving to gaseous gas and then to renewables.

“The belief in the industry is that if we have this kind of vast resource and we have not tapped it, why should we abandon it and move to renewables.

“We have not used gas to drive our cars and few people use it to cook; we have not used gas to generate electricity or used it to fire our fertiliser blending plants, then why should we abandon it and move to renewables?

“What we are saying is that the western countries are in a position to move to renewables after using coal and crude oil to stabilise the electricity in their areas and everybody there enjoys it.

“But we have a situation in Nigeria where a lot of people do not have access to electricity yet.

“So, what we are saying is that we agree to transit but let us use our gas first to develop our country and get the benefits of development, that point where everybody has electricity, then we can transit to renewable fuel,” he added.

Sylva explained that so far gas was being used as a transition fuel, as Nigeria and Africa as a continent does not contribute more than one per cent of global warming as carbon emission.
