Why is it so difficult to come together and decide who want to be part of Nigeria and who want out. Even Scotland still want to renegotiate their ties with United Kingdom.
This contraption called Nigeria only benefit the born to rule region. Marriage isn't by force!
This people don't have crude oil but they dominate the oil sector,They don't have any Port located in their region but they're the one who determine who get what in Nigeria Port Authority.

Total Resource control by states will solve 80% of all this quagmire in Nigeria.
Politics › Give Us State Police, Resource Control Now, El-rufai Tells FG by KEVIND(op): 1:55am On Feb 20, 2021
According to him, that is why the Federal Government’s power is being challenged in a “frighteningly sustained manner” by a phalanx of armed non-state actors.

He said, “I would recommend the following immediate decisions and actions by the federal and state governments, with the support of our civil society and all well-meaning Nigerians. The first is to implement the three key devolution proposals that I mentioned: Give us state police now; vest all minerals in the states now; and decentralise our judiciary now – not later.

“There are certain things governors cannot do. Some of them we have alluded to by saying we don’t control security agencies. So, you are chief security officer, but you can call the CP (commissioner of police) and if the IG (Inspector General) says, ‘Don’t talk to him,’ that is it.

“In five and a half years, as governor of Kaduna State, I have had eight commissioners of police. They are just posted; they spend seven or eight months (each) on average. Do the mathematics. Eight CPs that have virtually no say in their posting, and so on. How can you have security management if you change the frontline chief of security every eight months on average?”

The governor noted that only the National Assembly could make state police a reality.

El-Rufai added, “There is nothing the governors can do. And these senators and House of Representatives members were elected from states. Many of them got elected with our help and support, but when they go to Abuja, they can grow large heads and will not cut their hair for two years, and they start thinking something else. I had one like that; I got him out.

“We want states to have more responsibilities so that we can be held more accountable. The reason I said we need state police, a decentralised judiciary and the vesting of mines, minerals and oils in states now is because if we don’t do it this year, next year, everything will be politicised.”

In response, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya, who was also a speaker on the occasion, said, “Governor El-Rufai has said, ‘Let us all work together.’ We are very ready to do that.”

‘We don’t have enough soldiers, military equipment’

Speaking on the causes for failure in effective policing, El-Rufai stated that the national level security response to the challenges has been uncoordinated and ineffective in wiping out the threats.

He said, “None of the military services nor other security agencies has been suitably expanded in numbers and equipment for over a decade since the insurgency in the North-East pushed things to a new law.

“This country does not have enough soldiers, uniformed police, or secret police to project state power across its vast swaths, particularly the forests. The limited number of boots on the ground are not well-equipped and are significantly lacking in the technology that can make their limited numbers matter a lot less.

“We should provide immediate and enhanced funding to acquire advanced equipment, armaments and ordinances for the armed forces, police, security agencies and paramilitary agencies by drawing down from the pool of various rainy day federation funds like the Excess Crude Account, Natural Resources Account, Stabilisation Account, and so on, so that our security services will have the material to face the criminals that menace us. “

The governor added that restructuring required an immediate national consensus to collect more taxes at federal and state levels for the governments to be viable.

“This also means we must stop pretending that the regulated rates of lending, interest rates, exchange rates, prices of petrol and electricity, as well as the salaries in the public sector are realistic, sustainable and will lead us to the Promised Land. These are decisions for the here and now,” he said.

Foreign Affairs › Tim Boyd: Texas Mayor Resigns Over Power Failure And Facebook Post (Photo) by KEVIND(op): 7:02am On Feb 19, 2021
Texas mayor resigns after telling residents desperate for power and heat "only the strong will survive"

A Texas mayor resigned after seemingly telling residents to fend for themselves in a Facebook post amid a deadly and record-breaking winter storm that left much of the state without power Tuesday.

As then-mayor of Colorado City, Tim Boyd wrote an insensitive message for people desperate for heat, water and power, saying "only the strong will survive and the weak will [perish.]"

"No one owes you [or] your family anything; nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this!" he said. "Sink or swim it's your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I'm sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout."

Boyd told people without water to "think outside the box to survive" and called people waiting in the cold because they have no power "lazy" – even as authorities were telling people to stay home to avoid icy roads.

"Bottom line quit crying and looking for a handout!!" he said, before finishing off his message in capital letters,"DONT [be] PART OF PROBLEM, BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION!!"

The post was deleted, but circulated widely on social media. Boyd received intense backlash for his remarks and later announced he quit his office in another Facebook message.
"I would never want to hurt the elderly or anyone that is in true need of help to be left to fend for themselves," Boyd wrote. "I was only making the statement that those folks that are too lazy to get up and fend for themselves but are capable should not be dealt a handout. I apologize for the wording and some of the phrases that were used!"

Boyd said his wife was "fired" after his comments and that he wasn't speaking as an official of Colorado City or the county where it sits, Mitchell County. He added that he had not signed up to run again for mayor earlier this month.

The official Colorado City website listed Boyd as mayor as of Wednesday morning. CBS News reached out for more information, but did not immediately hear back.

At least 17 people are dead and almost 3 million homes and businesses are still without power in Texas on Wednesday morning after this week's major winter storm. Some of the coldest temperatures in decades hit the Lone Star State, resulting in water restrictions because of burst pipes and a lack of electricity at treatment plants. While water and power are being restored, the weather prompted many residents to step up for each other.

Politics › Re: Why Northerners Are Urging Their People Not To Avenge Ibadan Attacks by KEVIND:
hotwax:
Many opinions have pointed out that Northern leaders are being diplomatic and civil for asking Northerners not to attack Yorubas. Atleast if you are aged over 15years. You would have learnt over the years that North is the hot bed of sectarian violence. Religion and ethnic cleansing is a commonplace in the north. Any cough in Yorubaland always lead to full blown massacre in the North.

But what changed this time around?

The number 1 reason is, Yorubas are getting tired of Nigeria and are becoming violent. Yorubas are getting tired of being accommodating, they have lost a lot (Lives and Properties) to being friendly host to other tribes. The level of fulani-hausa resentment is growing in Yoruba land. An average Yoruba man (Leave out the political class and their beneficiaries) want yorubas to leave Nigeria and start "Yoruba Nation".

In the past 10years, Odua nation was a poor selling brand among yorubas. But like Biafra people, Odua nation is getting popular among Yorubas both at home and in Diaspora. Many notable yoruba leaders are now publicly supporting Odua country. And this is becoming a shock to Northern leaders.

Northern leaders know that the unity of this country is at the most fragile point. Any attempt to avenge will cause more ripple effect and lead to full scale war. Some of us are aware of Yoruba secessionists who are preparing for militancy (Not Sunday Igboho gang). These set of people will take advantage of the situation and set the country on fire. Northerners know how brutal Yorubas can be. Ibadan attack was just a random burning of properties. But Ile-Ife was a massacre. Ile-Ife/Modakeke people have no joy when it comes to killing. These are just examples of what Yorubas are capable of.

Its a common knowledge even to the presidency that our law enforcement and military are overstretched or incapable. They are only trained to protect fulani interest and shoot at unarmed civilians. They have proven over and over that they cannot withstand an armed group e.g. Boko haram, Bandits, ESN, Sunday Igboho. Remember Yoruba-hausa clash in mile 12? When the police came to join hausas to shoot Yorubas. But the endsars protest that saw many police killed, many police stations burnt have shown Nigerian Nigerian police what bloody Yoruba civilian are capable of.

Fagba in Agege is also another example of what Yoruba tout are capable of. Next ethnic clash will be gory as Northern reliance on armed force for support will fail.

In addition, a civil war will end fulanization agenda. And fulanis are wise not to invest in any venture that can lead to them loosing power.

Nigeria unity is really very fragile now. God help us.
Good points you enumerated.
Another reason is that the Monolithic North no longer exist. The Nupes, Kanuris, Bachamas, Bakulung, Biroms, Chamba, Tivs, Idomas etc will no longer support the Hausa/Fulani to fight the South unlike before. This is their greatest fear & one of the reasons they didn't retaliate.

Politics › Gombe, Benue, Adamawa, Zamfara Ready To Receive Returning Herdsmen by KEVIND(op): 7:37am On Feb 14, 2021
The state governments in Gombe, Benue, Adamawa and Zamfara have signalled their preparedness to receive herdsmen relocating to the North.

The Northerner Elders Forum had, in a statement issued on Friday by its Director, Publicity and Advocacy, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, called on northern governors “to prepare to receive law-abiding Fulani herders who may be compelled to relocate to the North.”

In a response, the Director General, Press Affairs, Gombe State Government House, Ismaila Misilli, said the state was ready to accommodate its citizens upon their decision to return home.

Misilli said, “Anybody that is from our state and has gone anywhere to look for greener pasture and now, for his own reason, decides to come back home, we must receive him. He is our person, son or daughter, probably. You must receive them.”

Similarly, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Friday, said the state was ready to accommodate any of the fleeing Fulani herdsmen from the southern part of the country on the condition that returning herdsmen who decide to stay in Benue State must obey the law of the state.

Ortom was responding to the appeal by the Northern Elders Forum to northern governors to prepare to receive law-abiding herders who may be compelled to relocate to the North as a result of tension in the South.

The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, noted that the state had no problem with anyone who engaged in legitimate business and adhered to the law of the state.

He said, “As long as they (Fulani herdsmen) are ready to ranch their cattle and obey the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of the state, Benue State will have no problem with them.”

Recall that the state enacted the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Law in 2017.

Also, the Adamawa State government said it was willing to resettle herders returning from the South.

The Director General, Media and Communications, Adamawa State Government House, Solomon Kumangar, on Friday, said the state, which is one of the participating states under the National Livestock Transformation Plan, would be able to accommodate the Fulani herders within a specified time, if that was the decision of the Northern Governors Forum.

Kumangar said, “Adamawa has already keyed into the National livestock Transformation Plan. Recall it was launched in the state in 2019 by the Vice President at Gongoshi reserve. This is also to settle farmers and herders within a specified period.

“If it is the decision of the northern governors to absorb herders who are returning from the southern part, the Adamawa State Government will act in accordance with that decision.”

Similarly, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State expressed readiness to welcome the Fulani herders.

Matawalle, who spoke through his media aide, Zailani Bappa, condemned any form of discrimination against a people for crimes committed by a few, saying, “This is a complete injustice.”

He maintained that not all Fulanis were criminals, adding that, in every tribe, there were good and bad eggs.

The governor said, “My administration wants to assure Nigerians that Zamfara State will never undermine the Constitution of Nigeria by denying any Nigerian or group of Nigerians free access to the state and free association with its citizens.
