it is impossible to strangle someone to death in their sleep. its either there is some missing evidence or something else is wrong with this story. no matter what kind of deep sleeper you are, the body must wake you up if you are being strangled. |
milehigh06: Ghana,Nigeria,Senegal,IVC have all performed relatively in World cups......you seem not to get the point of beig respected.its because other players were so quick to jump at ridiculous offers that made africa or Nigeria in particular a laughing stock.Back when our players had pride in themselves, you had kanu walking into ajax, you had okocha walking into eintract frankfurt, you had finidi walking into real betis, you had muitu walking into rayo valecano, you had ikpeba walking into lokeren, you had keshi walking into anderlecht which was one of the best teams in the world then, uche okechukwu walked into brondby, and i cant remember these players going for trials.my point is if you do not take pride in what you do as a person,no one else willperformed well relative to who? relative to european countries? hell no. relative to south american countries? hell no. relative to asian and north american countries? maybe. so for now africa as a whole must accept that we are still inferior to europe and south america. superior football quality is just one of the reasons why playing in europe is so highly desirable. you have forgotten that the main reason african players jump at the opportunity to play in europe is simply for financial gains. also pride must be earned. thirdly pride must be put in its proper place which is behind other more practical condsiderations. for someone who's profession is football, you need to do what you can do to get to the top. showing pride won't make you a better player but playing for arsenal certainly will. showing pride won't put food on your table for years after your career. playing for arsenal will! i'm sure godfrey myt still get another european club anyway but ur arguments are invalid. its very simple. you thin arsenal invited him for trials merely to embarrass him? don't you realize it is even more expensive for arsenal to first invite him for trials before signing him? as an invited player all his expense would be covered by the club probably with an allowance during his stay. do you think if they felt it was not necessary to have him on trial they would go through all that trouble? Godfrey should not be embarrassed, it is the Nigerian premier league that should be embarrassed |
still this same argument? its really funny how most of you are here saying african should be respected... why should africa be respected? have we produced any exploits on the world stage? what has african football as a whole done to deserve any respect its really funny cuz if this guy was ur brother or family member you would be begging him to go for the trial. anyway Godfrey Ogboabona is his own man. every man knows what he wants in life so as far as i'm concerned the only right thing he should have done is the one that gives him maximum personal satisfaction. |
Godfrey didn't go for trials in Arsenal. He was invited for trials as early as February. The british journalist who wrote this in April assumed that he turned up for the trials. He didn't go then - the NPFL was on. It was assumed that he would go at the Nigerian end-of-season. He has however turned the table on Wenger by slamming him rather than going for trials. Finally, I appreciate the mature way you handled my last write-up. I was indeed upset and had unleashed quite a volley. You've once again earned my respect!
the respect is mutual. well whatever the case may be i wish Godfrey the best in his career. he is indeed a good player i just hope he makes wise decisions. |
35Use ← → keys to Who is Arsenal and Newcastle target Oboabona?Transfer target: Clubs are forming a queue to sign Godfrey Oboabona (Picture: Getty) He’s said to be subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Arsenal and Newcastle, and is regarded as one of the best players in Africa, but who exactly is Godfrey Oboabona? What do we know about him? Oboabona is a 23-year-old, 6’2 central defender who can also play in midfield (and has even been used as an emergency striker). He currently plays for Nigerian club Sunshine Stars in his home land, and has 18 caps for the national team. Bit of a Jack of all trades, master of none then? Not at all. Oboabona has proved himself in African football as a reliable player in whatever position, using his pace, power and strength to good effect. And it’s his solid work ethic and ability to adapt to any situation that has seen him stand out – no wonder clubs all over Europe want to sign him. Who exactly wants him? Well, according to reports in Nigeria, Newcastle are leading the chase and hope to wrap up a deal at the end of the season. But Arsenal had him on trial in March and are known to be huge admirers. They hold the advantage of being Oboabona’s boy hood club, but doubts over whether he would get a work permit mean the deal is complicated. How much would he cost? It’s thought that his club the Sunshine Stars would part with Oboabona for around £1million – a snip considering his quality and potential to improve. With a little bit of negotiating, Premier League sides may even be able to bring that down further. the bolded tell the whole story |
I respected your reply to my earlier post and only decided not to get into a personal e-debate with U. I didn't do so because your positions or deductions from my post, which U quoted, was right, but because your comments were very knowledgeable even though hugely deviant from my position. Now let me reply you: Amir Zaki indeed was the Egyptian player. I think you really need to read Zaki's story in England. Zaki was LOANED by Wigan from Zamalek. He was highest goal scorer in England within his first 6 matches with 5 goals. He consistently stood on the goalscorers chart throughout the 2008/2009 season he was with Wigan. Even while there, he didn't kowtow for his English managers. He was constantly being fined and all that but he didn't budge. He did his business, completed his season and EVEN REJECTED signing for Portsmouth, who wanted him badly because Algerians and Israelis were in the Portsmouth team and Management! What more can you ask from a player who knows what he wants and stands by it? He returned to Egypt, played happily for Zamalek for another season before being loaned into England again by Hull City for 5 months during which he declared that he would return to Egypt at the end of his loan deal "if no decent club came for him" and he did return to Egypt indeed! Look man, not every one is a social climber or an "oyinbo-yansh-licker" because of pounds or dollars. Leave Godfrey alone! Didn't you play football in secondary school yourself? Why didn't you play for the super eagles Godfrey was discovered at the dusty pitches of the secondary schools in Ondo town by the Ondo State run OSFODEC as recently as 2004. Why didn't U do something with all the football you played as a kid Sitting down there and making noise over Oboabona's career!I was skeptical about Godfrey, not because I doubted his ability, having watched his meteoric rise to the Super Eagles from St James' Secondary School Team in Ondo town or because I had not watching him play well in the Super eagles defence during the qualifiers. However, I felt Keshi would prefer the foreign-based crop of Yobo, Omeruo and Efe Ambrose. Who could imagine that Efe would be discharged to Right/Wing Back back a 'previously-untested-at-a-major-tournament' Godfrey would be made to marshal the centre of the defence with captain Yobo? Yobo made so many mistakes in the opening game and Godfrey kept covering him up. Unfortunately for all of us, after doing well for 93 minutes, just as he did against Jordi Alba, a slight loss in concentration gifted the Burkinababes their equaliser in that opening match. In subsequent games however, he upped his ante and remained ever constant like the Northern star. Even the Mba we all make noise about today was only lucky to have been played against Ethiopia because the favoured Fegor Ogude was ineligible (2 yellows) and Nosa Igiebor was injured. Otherwise, many wouldn't have seen Mba's abilities. That explained my skepticism before the tournament, not because I doubted his ability. For all we care, how much of Juwon Osaniwa does the average Nigerian know? Or Egwueke How many can deny that they didn't castigate Keshi and write the Eagles off when he went to S/Africa 2013 with 17 new player and ignored the 'Big boys'?Please, for God's sake, Godfrey knows what he wants. Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure, Cristiano Ronaldo all knew what they wanted. How can an established national team player go for trials The trials has so large publicity all over the internet. The media has been awash with the news since March 2013, yet you proudly write as though it isn't true when you should indeed be ashamed that you are so much behind information that you didn't know! All you need is Google! Google Oboabona transfer or Oboabona Arsenal trial! All major European teams are falling over for him. Sunshine is holding out for $1M -$2M for him. Face the issues. Stop chasing shadows and behaving like you know all and making the world laugh at your folly. Finally, I hope you would swallow your gargantuan pride and click open this link, a briton wrote it as far back as April! 2013 metro.co.uk/2013/04/25/who-is-arsenal-and-newcastle-transfer-target-godfrey-oboabona-3666460/
oga sah relax naw.... firstly i didnt really play much football till i was 16 and if i might say so myself i was pretty good at some point. i was also defender as well. if not for health problems i had i might have made a career out of it. im still a pretty decent player.secondly Zaki was kicked out because he kept misbehaving..... besides Zaki was a well known player (in profesisonal circles) before coming to england but on to the real matter at hand, sir did you actually read the link you posted?? that article actually states that Ogboagbona was on trial at arsenal in march!!! in other words he actually did go for the trials!!! in other words i was ryt when i said this news is false. |
everyone deserves a second chance but be careful... she is still a human being brother so if you can help her out of this negative lifestyle God would bless you. as for marriage, guy thats a matter of her personality and character and you can't exactly judge her whole character from her "profession" but the one thing that hardly ever fails in bringing out a person's true colors is time...only time will tell they say, so give her time and watch. even the best actor gets tired of pretending to be a person they are not after enough time. |
lol funny article but my baby doesnt nag....well come to think about it she kinda does lol well in a very sensible way...not sure it would even count as pure nagging |
you guys are really very much out of touch with the reality of international football beyond the Super Eagles |
if Godfrey was indeed invited to tryout at arsenal believe me his club chairman would be the first to remove his cap and beg him to go. why? cuz even if arsenal should sign him for even 1.5 mil pounds thats huge income for a club in the NPL, great publicity for them and for sure they can always find another defender like him. the tap of good players never runs dry in Nigeria |
which 16 year old girl goes out with a 12 year old boy?? whats going on? |
I have read with disgust all the shameless negative comments against Godfrey that has been posted here. The truth is that our people are so hungry, barely insightful despite university education and have lost their overall sense of self-worth. How many Egyptians and Tunisians go for trials in the so-called England? Godfrey played so well for Sunshine that he is not only their captain but led them to the CAF Confederations Cup and CAF Champions League reaching the Semi Final in both respectively for two consecutive seasons. If Wenger can't watch those tapes in addition to those which Supersports can gladly provide him of the Nigerian league (which most people here barely watch on DSTV anyway, all they do is complain & lament ignorantly!), he needs to see an opthamologist. I was skeptical when Keshi took him to the Nations Cup but he shone brightly there and maintained so in the Confederations Cup. Remember that Godfrey is indeed a utility player - he began as an attacker in osfodec (Ondo state academy) and can really play all roles possibly except goalkeeping! For the Super Eagles, he has played as both Central Defender and Right Back (Nig vs Liberia). Godfrey is also good with free kicks. He scored Nigeria's equaliser in a recent away match. Mikel prevented him from showing his free kick abilities in the Confed Cup. Doubt me if you want, I guess you would also have doubted if any Kenyan could play that stunner that sank into Enyeama's net when the Harambee Stars came visiting a few months ago. Mind you, it was that player's seventh cap for Kenya! Finally, for chronique and others who think they know it all and are spewing all forms of heresies here, let me leave you with this: George 'Finito' Finidi moved from CALABAR ROVERS to Ajax which was the best team in the world, like Barcelona is today. Ajax won the Champions League with George as the Right Winger in 1995 and lost the 1996 Final. Kanu was also in that team. Kanu moved from Iwanyanwu Nationale. Let the haters make noise... I'm sure Godfrey knows what he is doing! Shamless people! A certain English club LOANED an Egyptian international player from the Egyptian league recently - a league these people would claim is far below the English PL - the guy excelled so brilliantly in England yet he refused to stay in England at the lend of his loan deal. He knew his worth. Deal with that!
its not the best to analyse things out of emotion. you are wrong on quite a few levels. 1. the egyptian league is miles above the nigerian league my broda! the money you could earn in a top egyptian club is comparable to what you would earn as a non european in a smaller english club. that was why junior agogo could leave england and go to play in egypt. and im sure the mysterious egyptian player you are referring to is amir Zaki? Zaki made a big name for himself when he played in egypt, but do you know that just last year he was invited for trials with blackpool? and he accepted. so why should someone who is just making his way up reject a trial with ARSENAL? or is it el hamady or something like that, one full back like that, yu r talkin about? lol if he "knew his worth' then why did he go on loan in the first place? such moves have nothing to do with knowing your worth thats utter nonsense. im sorry! 2. which egyptian or tunisian has played for arsenal? or chelsea? or Man Utd? or Liverpool for that matter? we are not talking about derby county here we are talking about arsenal who expect to sign world class players. 3. you yourself said that after watching him in the action for his club you still doubted him when Keshi called him up. so if you could doubt his quality for the super eagles how much more should arsenal want to see him in action on their own terms? 4. don't you think that the gulf in class of NPL and EPL is huge? i have watched NPL games my guy so don't throw that line up. playing well at that level is not enough proof that you can play well at EPL level! you were invited for a trial, all you have to do is go, prove yourself and sign your contract. what is the problem with that? even in other career fields, you might be asked to prove yourself in a trial at a job interview... its perfectly normal. who knows if all they want to see is if he can play "arsenal football"? |
My thoughts Exactly! Really, this must be a new thing. Informing the public about covert operations.
you guys are ignorant about the terms you you discuss and yet you use them freely. the fact that a military operation is ongoing is not classified information in this case because of the sheer number of troops involved. by now every single person in that vicinity knows that a bunch of troops are in action therefore such a mission cannot be covert or clandestine. it is the mission parameters, tactics, logistics and so on that are supposed to remain covert and if you are sensible you can see that none of the really sensitive info has been disclosed. what has been disclosed is basically propaganda to give morale to the public. the army wants everyone to know that they are about to get shekau and by so doing garner more support for the mission. sometimes i wonder the way you people reason. do you think you are any smarter than our army officers? before they went into the army they were normal people just like you, then they went into the army and got trained to the same extent as you might have been in conventional career fields and then got specialized military training which you can never dream of getting and you still think you know something about military operations just because you watched Rambo from part one to four? please take a seat somewhere and alllow the professionals to do what they do best. |
wats up with the one dimensional ridiculous crappy comments? yall r a bunch of silly creeps |
heheheh who cares? im busy enjoying my fried chicken ryt now...NO TIME! |
this is ridiculously funny so i can't help laughing but its also very sad.... cest la vie |
ROSSIKE: Err... sorry, but except in your ignorant little head, Oboabona is NOT an ''unknown player'', having performed before the entire world at the African Nations Cup and Confederations Cup to GREAT credit. In the course of those tournaments, he held his own effectively against major names like Didier Drogba, Iniesta, Xavi and Suarez. These are all names that the average Arsenal defender crumbles at the sight of, so it is a GROSS INSULT to ask Godfrey Oboabana, African Champion par excellence, to come for ''trials'' at ANY club including Barcelona and Real Madrid, talk less of Arsenal. Any club that wants him - even if it is Sunderland - MUST respect him enough to acquire him outright.be a little civil, i'm not one of those posters who comes on here to trade insults and for sure on a good day you an di won't be found hanging in the same spot but since you seem like you have some decent points i will answer you. of course ogboagbona is not absolutely unknown, he is relatively unknown. the first thing you must realize is that European clubs do not take the African nations cup seriously. then consider the following: 1. did Ogboagbonna take on all those players by himself? and in fact it was Omeruo who really impressed against Drogba and Cavani stop exposing your lack of insight here. anyone who knows anything about football knows that in the Nigeria national team, Omeruo is usually the one marking the bigger more physical players. 2. didnt we still concede 6 goals in three games at the confederations cup? any defender would be thoroughly ashamed of that record especially when we were the only team tahiti could score against. 3. Ogboabona took on xavi and iniesta? how did a defender take on xavi and iniesta? he practically never even came into contact with either of those two especially xavi...be reasonable in the things you say. rather a fellow defender like himself, jordi alba, made a mockery out of him and his fellows. hope you realize that fernando torres's goal was directly ogboabona's fault? give me the stats on how many clean sheets we kept during the nations cup.... or you don't know that all these count in the assessment of a player? 4. if you know football at all, you would know that if this story was true in the first place the reason he is being invited for trials is because they need to know his ability to play at premier league level, with better players around him. if you think the standard of defending of the nigerian national team is up to scratch then you really have no clue at all of what football is all about. you think making the step up from NPL to EPL is easy?? 5. the fact is the guy is still a local player who would earn a minimum of 20 times wat he is currently earning if he should manage to make it to arsenal. did i say 20? make that 50. so if you think he can afford to sit down somewhere and demand to be bought outright ... thats all i gotta say to you.btw like i said earlier this story is not true so don't give yourself unnecesarry hypertension ok dear? ![]() |
druid06: @Onila, by fronting, you mean nagging right? ![]() |
. |
lol ok naw don't go for the trials. foolishness of th ehighest order...even freddy adu and other far bigger players go for trials and one small unknown player would be making mouth. in any case im pretty sure this info is fabricated |
Barca actually treated eto well but they are actually also a racist club. i was not even into the whole racism thing my initial intention was simply to show that the criteria you used form absolving real (i.e claiming they have had black players) was false. |
dayokanu: Every club has more players from their native country where they are located. There would be more Spanish players in a Spanish club.its all relative. we can go on and on like this but the point is that Real Madrid for a top club have not had a significant number of black players in their team particularly at the time Makelele played for them and the fact that he was not respected by them is a strong indicator of a racist outlook especially when you look at some of the players they tried to sign to replace him such as Thomas Graveson. also even if there are black players in the team the other question is how well are they treated? Makelele certainly was not treated well |
dayokanu: England has indigenous black people Spain does not. The only black person to play for Spain was Marco Senna who was a Brazilian till he went for pro football. So its only natural that England has more black people in their game than Spain Same with France.there are tons on black players in spain...the spanish league is an elit league and as such players from everywhere are attracted there. how can you say that real madrids compostion is dictated by their location? real have players from all over the world ranging from argentina to france... if they want to have any of the best black players they can easily afford to get them. and i hope you don't think black is synonymous with african? Man utd black players: 8 nani, ferdinand, evra, valencia, zaha, young, welbeck, anderson, juventus black players: 4 asamoah, ogbonna, pogba, boakye Bayern: 5 Alaba, Dante, Gustavo, Boateng, Alcantara, real: 2 Pepe, marcelo, varanne for one of the biggest clubs in the world they have the lowest figure so wats your point again? |
dayokanu: Riquelme played for Barcelona, Aimar played for Valencia, All these clubs at the time were better than all the 2nd rate clubs Jayjay played for.you have forgotten that Jay Jay played for Fenerbache and PSG when these were top teams in their leagues and notable in europe |
dayokanu: Jayjay is more of a circus player and entertainer . He lacks the discipline to play at a top club. Its only a club like Bolton that can allow that type of player in their fold.that is not true at all. i watched okocha play in the premier league, apart form his skills he definitely had a lot of tactical play to his game. its like Riquelme who never went higher than villareal or aimar who never went higher than valencia... its certainly not because they were not top players |
OlamideOkadigbo: Mikel can never be compared to Makelele in defensive midfield....Mikel is a good central midfielder, knows how to make passes, has sheer strength but in d Makelele role, he lacks d positional sense and tactical awareness and is sometimes found wanting in simple things like tackles. He is extremely sluggish to cover grounds as Claude did. When he looses d ball sometimes, he doesnt chase d person down like a Makelele would do. I think Mikel will be better in the deep-lying playmaker role a la Pirlo or Xavi. He interpreted that role well at the confed. cup where he had Mba and Ogude to do the running around.exactly wat i wanted to say. those who compare mikel to makelele are confused. Mikel is good at keeping possession physically which can give the illusion that he is good defensively but its a big illlusion... Mikel is xavi type player |
dayokanu: Show me 5 clubs in Europe that have equal black and white.where id i say that the number of black players should equal the number of white players? read my post i clearly said that i dont expect the numbers to be equal but at least the ratio of black to white should be decent. the ratio of black players in italy's top teams, english top teams are way more than those who have played in real over the years. even eto when he played in real was benched are you not aware of this? whites are not better at football than blacks..first off thats just an opinion and secondly its an opinion that is easy to disprove. Ronaldinho was black shey you know? brazil have won the world cup many times and have always had a very strong contingent of black players. what you don't know is that the number of black footballers in top leagues is significantly disproportionately high in comparison to the number of black people in europe. the reason why african nations have not advanced in football is not because we are not just as talented but its simply directly tied to our economic progress. another topic for another day |
dayokanu: Its simply because Jayjay wasnt good enough to play at top clubs.what qualities did Okocha lack to be able to play at top clubs?? you really believe that Geremi njitap was a better player than Okocha?? wow. you really belive Okocha's ceiling was Bolton wanderers? wow!! didier drogba was not celebrated in chelsea until he stood up for himself and asked mourinho to stop using him as a donkey for lampard and others.... in his first season they would lump the ball forward to him and he would knock it into space for the next player...there are unique circumstances for every player both black and white.... if steven gerrard had left liverpool he would undoubtedly have made much more of his career. mikel needs to leave chelsea |
dayokanu: Are you serious? Is Real madrid not in a white country? How many blacks are native to Spain sef?typical fallacy of composition. so if spain is a "white ocuntry" then all the players in the spanish league should be white? we're talking about one of the worlds best leagues which should attract the worlds best players, many of whom are black. im not saying black players should eqaual the number of white players but im saying the ratio should be reasonable maybe 1:4 not 1:23 what kind of comparison are you making when you bring up the nigerian league? if the nigerian league was one of the best on the world you can damn well be sure that enough white players would be in the league. ok look at it this way, how many non spanish white players have played for Real Madrid? way more than black? you betcha! look the spanish league has historically been a bastion of racism and you best realize that it is not only fans who are rasict but management as well. |
i've deliberately stayd away from lyrically monsters like M.i but if yall wanna persist in this foolishness then leggo again....choose a particular topic and genre and we'll compare naija and american music. callin yo hypocrite asses out |
