Adaeze003:The way he has gone about it is what matters. They can be bethrothed without any sexual activity until she comes of age. Since the girls authority figures are involved, she should be safe. Its even safer for her to date a mature and responsible man than her mate who would probably use her to conduct emotional and sexual experiments. |
rottennaija:I hope you people know that intelligence community refers to the state and military agencies such as the dss, nia, dma and etc? Nigerians abusing the Queens English since 1900 |
Gaborone:Most of you don't seem to understand that while funds recovery is an important part of the anti-corruption drive, the main focus is to ensure that all arms of government function efficiently and to forestall the culture of corruption that has eaten so deep into Nigeria. Your bosses analogy is a grossly inadequate comparison. PMB has not shut up shop, he has appointed ministers to handle economic policy as should be done. As for firms that are winding up due to "unfavorable business environment" it seems ridiculous to me, to blame that on PMB. Why? because no serious firm winds up their business within 6 months of experiencing an "unfavorable business environment". In a country like Nigeria where you know for certain that we are bound to bounce back? I am not too conversant with the economic policies of the past administration so i won't comment much further than this, but you will need to drop more solid figure than your bosses analogy, to convince me. Show for example, hw PMB's policiy have directly or indirectly created a business environment that is unfavorable for any one industry, and then provide stats to show how many foregin firms in that industry are packing up to go home. I would love to see such an analysis. |
All i can see here is that Ice Prince did not buy gala for his barber before getting his hair shaped ![]() |
edward1984:Smarty pants, who says those are npf officers? They are probably members of the Bonny youth that were mentioned as being part of the capture. |
Let's assume this is a real story; most of the comments on this are incredibly childish and assinine. This lady asked for help, why turn this place into a playground for your filthy thoughts? Look OP, this is your husband we are talking about here! If he is angry with you, what else should you do but have a talk with him? You need nairaland to tell you what to say to your husband?? Come off it plz. |
Not only does the seller completely retain ownership of his goat, he does not have to pay a dime in compensation for the money eaten by said goat. I believe the man with the money is guilty of contributory/participatory negligence for allowing the goat to eat his money, which could have been easily prevented had he been more careful, knowing full well that it is the nature of goats to eat such things as paper and other assorted objects. Furthermore, the buyer approached the seller, and by so doing deliberately and consciously, put himself and his belongs at exposure to the misbehavior of the goat, which misbehavior is actually the nature of the creature and was to be expected. It must be noted that unruly behavior on the part of the goat was duly mitigated against by the seller, who ostensibly must have contained his goat, since it is apparent from the narration that the goat was 1. taken to the market and since goats do not communicate in human languges, it must be assumed that some means of constraint was employed; 2. still constrained by such or other means upon arrival at the market as it had not strayed from it's owner as is in the nature of goats to do. Furthermore, in accordance with the Law of Nigeria which states that the national currency is the property of the federal government and is not to be destroyed, the buyer is liable to face prosecution for failing to adequately discharge his duty of care. |
DONSMITH123:I'm at a loss for how the bolded could be accepted as fact... 1. The implication is that there were witnesses of the beating as someone must have been there to count the "uncountable" blows; so why could they not intervene until she died? 2. Then the article goes on to imply that there were actually no witnesses to the beating, with the statement: "luckily a neighbour saw him" which implies that up until that point, there was no witness to the crime 3. How can one man carry a dead pregnant woman? from inside the house (presumably) all the way to the car all by himself? it's possible but extremely unlikely SMH for reporters. |
An important lesson for everyone i think. I am not a job seeker, and my job doesn't require any interaction with the market but whenever i pick up a call from an unknown number i always answer, "Hello, good morning/afternoon/evening. This is David". Some of my friends think i am being pretentious but the truth is you may not know who is calling and you have only one chance to make a good first impression, so use it well. |
I had a similar idea and i'm glad others are thinking along these lines. I think in a nutshell, such a plan should focus on making watching local league games something nice to do. As in, you could get up and go watch a game not because you're a fan of any of the involved clubs, but because going to see the game would be an exciting experience. That means: 1. World class stadiums 2. Comprehensive security 3. Discounted season tickets to encourage hardcore fans One way to boost attendance is to make it attractive for people to take their family and friends to see "the game". The other problem is that the football is not of a very high standard. We can solve that by: 1. Paying competitive salaries to attract and retain top talent (managers and players) 2. Upgrading the tv experience. No more sub-standard commentary for example Eventually once the system starts generating real revenue, it can become self sufficient and then be privatized. |
anyaekekehinde: i'm only going to give you one mention so please make the best use of it. below is the full text of the excerpt that was posted on here:The Nigeria army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman in a statement late Thursday night said soldiers missing after a Boko Haram attacks in Gudumbali and Kareto in Borno State have rejoined their units. Earlier on Thursday, media reports said some 105 soldiers went missing in action after they engaged Boko Haram terrorists. Usman's statement described the incident as a slight setback for the Nigerian troops operating in the Northern Borno State towns of Gudumbali and Kareto, saying, the situation was being stabilized. He added that "The troops have re-joined their units for further action." He said: "earlier media reports were exaggerated. The CO (Commanding Officer) is currently with his soldiers." 1. the men went out on a mission....the re-joined their units upon their return form the mission 2. my mistake, i misread re-join as return but it does not matter because the two words are actually perfect synonyms in this context...but i don't expect you to understand that 3. your second point is just frustrating....so you really couldn't see that the portion of the excerpt where the soldiers were descried as missing (which was merely a qualifier) was part of the narrative written by the journalist and not a direct quote from the said army spokesman What is wrong with your head? |
ify2016:you people that like to play with words as if you don't know what you're doing. He never said they have been "found" which if he had, would have implied that they were indeed missing. but you already knew that, which is why you chose to use that word to implicitly pass on the message to more gullible readers. What the report indeed, did say was that the allegedly missing soldiers have returned to their units and base. RETURNED and FOUND are not synonyms! |
Djicemob:na wa o.......no really..... its quite obvious that an incident occurred that delayed the return of the troops but nowhere near the magnitude the media reports claimed. As the report here states, the army spokesman said the earlier media reports were exaggerated which is clearly the case. it's like most y=of you would have been overjoyed to hear "105 troop members alleged missing, confirmed dead", jsut so you could have some ammo to pursue your agenda. smh |
i thought the initial reports said it was 3 "hefty" men. What is hefty about the 3 of these boys combined?? I mean, right from the time the news broke, i found it rather hard to believe that three guys of whatever size could subdue and entire hostel full of males and females...weapons or not, all it takes is for one sharp guy to jump one of them and the battle is over. Are Nigerian youths cowards? |
FullDepth1:I think the report meant to say "wary" not "weary", in which case Mr Branson cannot be faulted IMO. |
AdeLaNa1:The two chances are simialr but note xactly identical. Martial had the ball and was in a dynamic position i.e he was moving with the ball...rooney on the other hand has run into position and had to stop because Mata held on to the ball for a second too long. critically, you have ot understand that when Ronneys topped, he lost momentum which meant he had to generate power to actually kick the ball instead of just tapping it in which takes an extra half second and can also make it harder to aim. If you've played at any half-decent level you should grasp this. also look at that gif and you see the defender coming in from the right of martial? should mata have delayed thepass there like he did to rooney it would likely have led to that guy making a block. I actually think after the second time that mata turned with the ball, he should have taken the shot himself instead of copping out with a late pass to rooney and then putting his hands on his head as if he didnt know that he was partly responsible. |
TATROVERT:Culprits ma |
Lingard in particular was impressive and i've always suspected that deploying him on the left might yield higher dividends; however i still think Ashley Young is most suited to that role as he can do what Lingard did (dribbling through) but with more maturity and consistency. If only Memphis could be the one sent to right back which apparently is the in thing ot do with misfiring wingers at old trafford these days. and I must add that although Captain Mike got the credit for the block and rightly so, Ashley Youngs awareness and urgency to get into position to interfer, before he slipped, was extremly laudable. I love that chap! |
elampiro:The simple truth is that, it was not an easy chance and MAta actually delayed on the ball which gave the defender time to swoop in and interfere. But a turly top player would be expected to finish that 8/10 times. We can cut the guy some slack but let's accept the fact that Wayne Rooney peaked at the age of 18, and is most liekly finished as a top footballer. |
HARDDON:lool..true true...but I think when you think about it, there are always consequences for sin, even though God might forgive you. For instance, using the individuals you mentioned, 1. David: he was pursued by his own son, who defiled his bed by taking one of his wives (if i remember correctly) 2. Paul: although i can't say i know this for a fact, but i've often wondered if the hardships Paul went through were in part the consequences of his persecution of Christians. Also, Paul repented and never went back to persecuting Christians. This is an important point. 3. The prodigal son: forgiven, yes, but without any further inheritance. Also don't forget of people like Esau of whom the bible says when he repented and even sought after his inheritance with tears, it could not be found. Sin has real consequences bro. |
sihom:Your punctuation is all over the place though. In particular, you keep overusing and misusing the - (dash) and omitting commas where necessary. For example, your last statement should have read something like: "It's not like I want access to a man's bank account; I just want some things as simple as good English--it's a huge turn-on for me. The point is, I can tell you probably speak very good English, but it's not reflected (as much as you might think it is) in your writing, which has a very labored feel. I.e, you're trying too hard. |
Sorry ot interrupt yall's belle face arguments and all that but i stumbled of this vid of Chris Smalling from last seasion, for those who would like everyone to believe that the lad came good only this season. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzPyAl93AGM |
adewumiopeyemi:Hey What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. First, warn that roommate of yours, secondly send the wife an anonymous tip. thirdly be on the lookout for alternative accomodation. Look here, sister, your conscience is botherign you, what other advice are you looking for? |
I don' think all this angry talk is necessary. When the time comes, the separation of Nigeria will not be achieved by means of violence but rather through referendums and everyone will be allowed to chose their own path I suppose. The Anioma that most of you are even arguing back and forth over, has it got any strategic advantage inherently linked to it? If not why are you people busy arguing over such things when you should be out there hustling for your daily bread? It's not even as if any of you would even be found on the war front if it comes to that. The right to self-determination of Igbo people must be granted them, the Right to self-determination of the people of the Niger Delta must be granted them, and the right to self-determination of the Nigerian people must be granted them, but not by any means necessary this time around; because these rights are not worth the blood of millions of innocents as has happened in times past. |
bukatyne:Well it all depends on whether or not divorce is an option. Divorce is not an option for me, because even though divorce is permitted in the bible, it is only reluctantly permitted and in fact, I am certain that to forgive is more honorable in the sight of God. I would advise a man with a cheating wife to get to the root of the matter, with regards to why the wife is cheating, and see what steps can be taken from there, if she is repentant. If she is not repentant, then I would advise the fellow to carry his burden like that, because marriage is for life. Only in the most extreme of circumstances, where a woman is repeatedly unfaithful and unrepentant and does not love nor respect her husband, would I advise a man to divorce his wife. |
PunkyVeer:Makes sense. Well, good luck! |
PunkyVeer:hold up, i didnt say anything about his feelings....it's all about yours. Would you really be happy living that way? I sincerely doubt it but if you insist... I just want to make the point that sometimes even though a wrong deed cannot be reversed, in relationships, 2+2 could be whatever you want it to be. A man cheats on you and you can't go back in the past to change it but is packing up and calling it quits guaranteed a happier ending than sucking it up and staying put, not for his happiness but for yours? |
daretodiffer:lol...oh ok well if divorce is an option then I get where you might be coming from |
PunkyVeer:That is the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face. The fact is, you can't live with your husband, with whom you have shared so much of your life, as strangers in the same house and be happy. |
I've gone through as many pages of this thread as I can, and in all the long talk, all I can see are people taking up camps on whether the aunty was right or wrong, but no one has given an alternative solution that allows the woman to have a happy ending. Say you were with a cheating husband, who refuses to repent, and divorce is not an option, what would you do? Punkyveer and Daretodiffer plz this question is directed at you both since you are the most vocal females on this thread. I am genuinely interested in knowing what you would consider to be a satisfactory outcome under such circumstances. |
daretodiffer:But it's stated right there in the title, the same title where you picked out the words mature and learn. looks to me likr you're just spoiling for a fight? Assassinating the character of the witness is what i believe you mean to make reference to and in this case it actually qualifies as a low blow, given the extremely personal nature of the event. Lastly even if you did not know that the aunty was late, madam, you could have shown some respect for the fact that !. this lady is most probably far older than you and 2. this was a person who was clearly in pain. Instead you chose to belittle the struggle of another human being in order to prove a point. Shocking. |
