naturally i detest givin money to girls and i dont understand why this has come to be accepted as the norm in our society today. exactly what is it about men that means we must provide for you women? i mean back in the good old cave man days men were the designated providers because survival was of the fittest and clearly men had the upper hand in that regard but times have changed. survival is now of the smartest and we all believe both genders are equal in this regard, no? so since the playing field has leveled, gentlemen and ladies i ask; why are men still expected to be the providers all the time? food for thought. it is sad that most people are in relationships for the wrong reasons; looking for the right things in the wrong places. a relationship is not supposed to be about sex and material gains...it is supposed to be about love and building a future together which would lead to sex and material gains. because of the way we have all been indoctrinated from an early age, i find myself finding it difficult to accept certain kinds of gifts from women particularly cash. but the more i think about it i find that it is utterly ridiculous. the very notion that this sentiment stems from is based on the assumption that men always have more to give than women do and in some cases because we have a tendency to date downwards this might be the case though as time progresses the disparity may be evened out. e.g a guy who just completed NYSC and got a job would likely be dating a girl in her second/third year in uni. at this stage of life it is completely conceivable that the guy would have more money than the girl and thus a preponderance on material affection from the guy might be expected. this should be within reasonable limits though and that implies that unless you are the one who offered to put her through school you should not be paying her school fees or other related expenses. unless of course she really needs your help and you can afford it this area should not be your concern at all. material care should really only be in the area of wants and not needs at this stage of the game cuz the girl is still the primary responsibility of her guardians. if you as a boyfriend start taken up such then you are not showing care but you are being used as a means to an end which is wrong. it is however perfectly acceptable to buy nice things (not necessarily expensive) every once in a while just to show that you care. no one should need to tell you this cuz caring for someone would lead to a natural urge to do such things. this also works both ways. i staunchly believe only in sex after marriage. i believe a relationship at this point should be about getting to know each other. whats the point of having sex and fulfilling other needs when you're not married? why not just get married since thats the exact same thing you'll be doing in the marriage? |
merciie: Guys! The key word here is "MANLY"not selfish...childish. |
Acidosis: Shut up.... plswhat kind or rubbish is this? .the drs did not refue to treat injured policement .the drs did not refuse to accept the bodies of the killed policemen .the hospitals only offence was that the bodies of the slain would be kept on the floor of the morgue until such a time as space was available. for this, a whole dr was SHOT!! how can one expect Drs to save lives when their own lives are threatened by some of those whom they will be asked To save? its not even like the drs are being threatened by armed robbers but rather they are being threatened by police men who should be there to protect the citizenry. and again what was the offense of the Drs? that the morgue was full. should the bodies of other peoples loved ones have been thrown into the streets in order to accord honor to the dead? see if you do not understand something let me clarify for you, the call to be an officer of the law is one which demands sacrifice. most of these police men who are paid lower than corpers are police men simply because they could not find anything better to do with their lives. of course corpers should be paid more than the rank and file. they paid hard earned money to go thru school and end up being forced into serving this so called country, at times callously and carelessly sent into harms way without any form of protection. these ones are indeed greater servants to Nigeria than most of our police. someone even calls them soldiers but no these men are no soldiers! read the story, it took the intervention of real soldiers to restore order to the hospital. imagine going on a rampage in hospital where many sick people are just because there is no space to shelve a pile of lifeless meat and bones? this is Nigeria where countless civilians have been slain for no justifiable reason by the very same police! no one wishes ill on the police because they do have a difficult job but they, by this action have displayed a complete, utter disregard for the very same law and lives they are supposed to protect. an officer of the law is endowed with a sacred trust the moment the state places a badge and a lethal weapon in his arms. you are give the power to over-power unarmed civilians because it is expected that you have attained a state of discipline uncommon to the common man and will therefore not be a menace to society. these irresponsible policemen have displayed their incompetence by suffering a shameful defeat at the hands of poorly armed villagers. it beats my imagination that it is possible that an entire convoy of a hundred plus policemen could be ambushed and massacred so easily. what training have they recieved? where is the professionalism? what distinguishes a nigerian policeman other than his black uniform and kalashnikov rifle? all life is sacred. if there is no space for your dead comrades then it is unfortunate. even if the Drs committed a crime had they no right to a fair hearing? |
ogugua88: "How many Nigerians can do this?" What kind of discombobulated question is that? Because a white woman tattooed her arm, does that make her a bigger fan than anyone else? She got a tattoo on her arm. Good for her, but why should that pressurize or be used against Nigerians (who have been there from the beginning for those twins)? Wow wow wow!askin how many nigerians can do this doesnt mean the poster thinks its a good thing it simply means she thnks its an unusual thing which indeed it is. as to why folks who may have dissed the chic if she was black are acting cool now its cuz it simply isnt "our" problem. do you get concerned when ur neighbour's kid is acting a fool? no, you enjoy the show but if it were your own family member you would be upset. i would think 15 times before marrying a girl with someone elses name tattooed on her not whether she is black or white. |
khiaa: Who cares, is it suppose to be something special because some white chick tattooed her body with a Nigerian mans name. Wow, some of you people and your worship of white skin is amazing.i doubt its worship of white skin, its the fact that p. square are popular enough for a white girl to tatto herself for him. they re black nigerians...put everything in perspective. |
uche2297: ...Is there nobody in the Niger Delta who is fit to Import Cement...Produce Spaghetti, Salt and juice...Import Rice...or a Niger Delta lady that can own Oil bloc....after how many years? there are plenty wealthy igbos so clearly this is not true. why cant yall keep a simple topic free of nonsense tribalism? that pic up there has a hausa man, a yourba woman, and a couple of igbo boys. something for everyone abi? at topic. the hunted has become the hunter... P.Square taking pics with the real bosses. levels dey |
a doctor friend once told me "Eagle, all coochies are the same, whether fat or slim or tall or short" Babe, you can shakara for a guy who doesn't know his worth. I have left so many babes (and some have also left me).... I don't tolerate selfishness in babe or guy.
word up... prioritize looks/coochie and uv fallen for the biggest scam since Adam ate the apple. |
Emperoh: Come oh, all you guys bad mouthing the OP wetin be una own?so if he brags too much for your liking what stops you from politely going home and ending the matter there? i dont understand the way some folks reason.... why not maintain your own dignity and pride and simply go your way? if u dont like a guy why not just leave him be in peace? to pay back for bragging as if by bragging the fella did something grievously harmful to you is simply wicked and is clear evidence that the girls saying such cannot be matured, have no sense of values, little self respect, and are extremely greedy. greed in a girl is one trait almost everyone finds distasteful. personally i do not subscribe to bragging but if yu really have it then its your biz how you flaunt it. its easy to fall into the trap of flaunting wat yu have especially in the early stages when you're trying very hard to impress a chic but i've always tried hard to represent the humble truth about myself. if i brag about anything its gonna be about trivial things tht are obviously not true such as being the most handsome guy around etc. |
making sense |
ausdy: () |
mollytinrox: Jisols! Don't even let me start. Hey! I don't even know why I fall in the line of vision of braggers. These days I just tune out and find something amusing in my head to think of instead of listening.as will beggars evidently cab money is now a problem? is there a rule in life that says only guys can be rich and ladies cannot? evidently there is no such rule cuz ur fellow women here and there and rising up and doing big things. you continue to sit there and wait for a friend of a friend (how ridiculous) to give you cab money. Sad story! |
4. discussions on the art of love making? lol Lord have mercy anyhow just thought i'd point out to yall hat your oga seun is not concerned with yalls plenty grammar...as you can see the thread is on frontpage because oga wants more views and comments cause this thread is merely driving traffic. dat rule 21 of a thing is the most unreasonable rule i have ever seen. anyway me i dont see wat the fuss is all about, like the rules r gonna change anything on dis forum? why does anyone really care about any of this? for those of you in nigeria it is a shame that you can come on here to protest against some utterly irrelevant stuff when you cant protest against the corruption and ineffectiveness of the government. why cant you take to the streets (peacefully) to protest the lack of basic ammenities such as electricity? yall r comfortable with no electricity but fighting one nonsense rule on nairaland? why cant hackers torment the government into doing what we want them to? is it Seun you want to hold accountable? see oga seun knows that come what may most of yall will just continue going about yalls regular nairaland bizness so i can assure you this one is nothing more than a gimmick. nigerians try and help yourselves. im seeing red lines under some words in my post, what could it mean? i think i myt have unknowngly broken some rule, which could it be? |
JORAF: Dear Man Utd fans...Your New Coach will be David Moyes of Everton. And in case you dont know, he spent 10 good years in Evertonfc and won nothing!!!!!!!!! its official...he's gone...the great man is gone. the inevitable end of an era has occurred. will never forget Sir Alex Ferguson; THE GAFFER |
i was reading thru and going like "meh this is all obvious and recycled as ususual" but then i got caught at number 3 ...just had to smile. |
lol what is all this vanity now? na wa o! @ O.P ur girl is pretty in a very nice sort of way...kinda innocent looking. its evident she's beautiful to you and you love her so carry go bruh, nothin do you. |
Mad Cow: When the rest of the world have all upgraded to Mirages, F/A-18 Hornets, F-22 Raptors, B-2 Spirit Stealth bomber, F-117 Nighthawk, Nigeria is still flying aircrafts that are best suited for a military museum. No ejector seat on a fighter jet in 2013?! Amazing..who says there was no ejector seat? |
my take on military technology has always been that we must endeavor to develop our own. we have intelligent scientists capable of carrying out the research and development and we have the money. not only that, but we don't have to start from scratch as we have modern models to copy from and make further development on. why cant we pump money into this sector? research and development and the empowerment of the private sector is the way for Nigeria to go. what we fail to understand is that when all you do is wait for others to produce theirs and you buy form them you will forever be behind them. i for one do not buy into the myth that Nigerians cannot produce quality things... it's more like we don't want to. |
@ royal^pearl i was kinda using hyperbole there. i think what we have is more like sibling rivalry and shawty yu shaw is fyne too i must say ![]() |
lol well been silent for about 20 pages or so and what i said back then has been confirmed now. the majority of those trading insults are people who most likely are cool folk in real life. i like the fact that our tempers are so easily aroused in defense of our national pride. that is the same sentiment that must be applied to pan africanism. like one poster already implied, the continued emphasis on culture is holding us back. if i had my way i would love to restrict culture to academics alone. see, until we stop seeing ourselves as Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Ghanaian, South African etc we simply cannot completely unite because under such conditions the lens of subjectivity is inevitable. as lovely as diversity may be, there can be no true unity in the face of diversity. the universal hatred of nigerians is something i have noticed and i've interacted with quite a few west african nationalities. Sierra leonians despise us, ghanains hate us, camerounians detest us, gambians cant stand us (running out of synonyms for hate lol), etc and with all these folk it tends to be the same argument: "nigerians feel better than everyone else, nigerians are criminals" particularly the former. now i find it strange that people see nigerians this way cuz to the best of my observation we are actually kinda humble? in spite of all the hate tho iv had a ghanaian best friend, a sierra leonian best friend and very good gambian and camerounian friends(camerounian friend was the biggest pain of the lot lol). and gats to say Semuhle baby yu r crazy hawt....almost as beautiful as my naija princess ![]() |
Ejay: The greedy beast, end of the wicked, thank God its over.loool can it have been that bad? the greedy beast and end of the wicked do sound like great nollywood names |
ok O.P continue na.... wat happened nxt. shebi yu guys have discussed again? |
the black man is unfortunately so foolish. of wat gud is it to hate another? i run out of words.... progress is still a phantasmagoric ideal when we continue to think as we do. Africa must start from scratch because it remains clear that we as a people do not know who we are. we are lost in the translation of who and what a stranger has declared we are and so we find ourselves at this point; turning and turning in the widening gyre, the falcon cannot hear the falconer because the falcon does not even know that it is a falcon. the majority of people on this forum should be educated to some degree and yet the best we seem to be able to do is to pull each other down in order to push ourselves up. what we must realize is that if we push upwards together then we all will go much higher than any one of us could ever have gone on his/her own. i know that in reality most of those trading insults and all these foul comments are actually nice people but driven to a state of temporary insanity over vices that are common to all men. in every country around the world people kill and are killed, this is not unique to any race or location, what separates a more violent group of people from a less violent group of people are the predisposing factors such as poverty and education. these are the real enemies in our midst, these are the true foes worthy of our hate. unfortunately it appears that the greatest enemy of a hungry african is another hungry african. if the youth of today are not ready to change the way we think then we are set to continue course down the road that leads to destruction which our fore fathers have set us upon. we must unite... in a continent that is in such dire shape, it is striking that the giants of africa refuse to unite. those who could make a real impact even without the aid of the west- Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and others refuse to see each other as partners for collective development but rather as threats to individual development. i am assured that most of you would rather get on with what seems to be your daily bread...wasting time "defending" your countries. i will be kind enough to excuse you now but know this: posterity will judge YOU. |
just reminded of M.I's wild wild west "Yeah, I just wanna cry, I just wanna know why my people struggle to unify wanna blame somebody middle finger in the sky, let it linger while the anger, then im feeling vaporised, I just wanna pick up a gun and start' to run where the evil ones pondered upon their cranium Put the gun against their temple, squeeze the bullet into their mental curses on my dental so vengeful, But with my pencil I stenciled the pain, try my best to show the world events full of shame, J town was peace they try to cancel the name, but even when the fire burn the stand still remains. The winds came restart our religious hurricane, when I heard I was like Oh! God not her again." |
i dont think the woman is really doing this out of wickedness...it seems to me to be more of backwardness. |
Aafulenu: dont get me wrong, am a career woman and i had housewife and a working woman as a mother at different times. trust me none is easy.hmm. ok...respect to whom respect is due. *duffs hat* |
Aafulenu: see their mouth, call housewives jobless. op let me ask u one question. can u do half of what a 'jobless woman' does? yeye unappreciative man.lol.............. lol....................... why so serious? lol |
SIlknSteel: Let me share two experiences from my friends.how can a husband do this? did she say no and he over powered her or they agreed but then he did it roughly? cuz a husband that would actually physically force himself into his wife like that is an animal who cannot possible love her. |
lol is this fact or fiction? |
SLIDE waxie: Let's reason and see if a woman is actually jobless:im not taking sides but guy ry and be objective, wat yuv posted doesnt make sense for a few reasons. 1. wat kind of food r yu cooking at 5 a.m? this is gross exaggeration 2. the guy who does the pounding hard shuld be more exhausted shldnt he? 3. the guy who works probably wakes up by 4:30/5 to beat rush hour traffic. 4. most likely in naija it is the one going to work that drops off the kids 5. cleaning house and cooking simply cannot be compared too 9-5ing(in naija 8-6). so basically this your recycled list is totally inapplicable. |
so many things i love about Nigeria that have been said by so many others. my life will be spent trying to make Nigeria a better place for the common man. |
Omen100: why adjourned the case again after the accused has pleaded guilty of the crime committed?because the magistrate was ill. |
