zelgiusdigby: LOL! I saw it man, the NY times are a joke these days but still, how daft do you have to be to write something like that and post a bold headline like that on it? i guess they got what they wanted, the clicks. I don't really have anything against steph, i will give him his props but when people start putting out dumb sh-t like this you best believe we will have something to say about this. I think the issue is that some people cannot differentiate between the best player in an era and one whose play/style changed the game. MJ was better than Magic but in terms of on court dynamic Magic was the one who brought in the dynamic that a 6ft 9 player can play PG. Same thing with this last decade LBJ is hands down the best player of the decade but Steph changed the game drastically in the same decade, changing what used to be considered a bad shot into a good one. |

A40: Luka Doncic for MVP.
The Suns really passed on Luka and picked DeAndre Ayton. I still find it so hard to believe any GM would sabotage themselves that badly unless they thought he could be the next Olajuwon.
And for Melo men he's injected some life into the Blazers. Still long ways to go but it makes you wonder how different his last few years could have been if he agreed to join Portland some years back when they wanted him The Suns GM played it safe. All the talk about the media guys in the USA who admitted to have never seen luka play was that you can't teach 7ft. Also the idea that they had seen the next big thing from Europe becoming bust in the NBA. What they forgot to say is that no teenager had ever come into the NBA with the kind of resume luka already had |

He tweeted his conscience with no regard to how that affects others in the league. Every action someone in the NBA takes as far as this issue affects everyone else so as long its not a consensus agreement or at least a plurality, then its selfish. He wants to lose his job then maybe he should resign and move to hong kong and join the protests. Plus if he was so willing to lose his job why did he apologize afterwards? seems he didnt fully understand the ramifications of his actions and hence was ignorant of the issue. MIT or not, you can be a graduate and be uneducated or ignorant of an issue. You should know that better than anyone else.
You said he didnt speak up when it counted? so it only counts when its hong kong? LOL! Miss me with that rubbish.
You're buying to this narrative as well? how gullible can a person be. He lost the popular vote by a few points and still has people willing to do anything for him. He has at least half the country behind his back and the way things look with dweebs the democrats are putting forward he'll probably get re-elected again. The same media that told you he wasnt going to win is telling you no one likes him. Donald trump is the true face of America, not the picture they're trying to paint. Hes polarizing, but he has his fans most of whom hate lebron and that does something to your brand. To say that his tense relationship with the right doesnt affect his brand and business is extremely ignorant.
Good! Then why does the geordie shore get pissed when we say that hes not and try to paint him as that? Playing to the gallery like i said draws attention to issues and gets more people behind it.
He didnt criticize him for his views about hong kong, he criticized him for his timing and the fact that he ruined other NBA players trips potentially putting them in danger. And he was right!
You think its easy for mentally impaired people to get jobs? LMAO Like i said, it needs special attention and systematic change, its not for want of trying on their part.
What proof did jordan have that he didnt have an ailment to imply that he was homeless cause he was lazy? like i said, he may or may not be but the least you can do is not jump to conclusions. It was an insensitive assumption.
Like i said, a mentally ill person cant just walk into a job center and get a job, they need special attention.
This is the quote, its not a matter of a hypothetical.

Roland17: You make a terrific point about Russel. Russel Wilson’s successful career which culminated in winning a SuperBowl opened doors for black QB’s in the modern era. His role in this narrative is under rated and rarely spoken about in my opinion. He changed the perspective about color and that position. The QB used to be exclusively for Whites even when they were horrible. Today we have C. Newton, D. Watson, P. Mahomes, D. Prescott, J. Winston, J. Brissett, L. Jackson, K. Murray and they are all starting QB’s in the NFL. This is unprecedented and atoms can be traced to the success of Wilson. There is a black QB whose bust is in Canton Ohio and his name is Warren Moon, he more than anyone paved the way for black qb's in the league. The unique thing about Russell Wilson is that he made it possible for college qb's under 6ft to dream of not just playing in the NFL but also of getting drafted in the 1st round. Every analyst or scout who believed in Russell Wilson before his draft said if he was 6ft 2 he would be a first round pick. His GM who drafted him even said on his own personal board Russell had the same grade with Andrew luck. Guys like Mayfield and Murray owe their number one selection to the fact that Wilson has been a top 5 qb for the better part of a decade now. Just hope he gets one more Superbowl win. |

A40: Well clearly he doesn't seem capable of that. For him to not know that engaging random strangers on Twitter and responding to every negative critique of him is a slippery slope that leads to nowhere.
He's not the only player that gets torched on SM but nobody reacts and responds to every Jimmy from Instagram like he does, I mean a whole KD creating burner accounts FFS, Like nigga you're Kevin Durant. You have your own shoe!! He needs to be made to realize his worth and just understand he is past the level of proving anything to anybody but himself My opinion is that every human on earth is unique. As long as he is not committing a crime he can do whatever he likes. I am personally tired of the medicine pushing a narrative that a human should conform to a standard, The fact is he does not have to behave the way we think he should. There are billionaires who lavish their wealth, they are those who are philanthropic with it and their are others who live conservative life styles it's all on the person. One angle most people are not looking at is the possibility of the individual who KD is chatting with getting positive feelings from KD replying them. Finally in the eternal words of J K Rowling 'to each man his own'. |

alezzy13: Apples and oranges, sir. Yes It was just a piece of paper, but due process was followed. That we later regretted the action was of no consequence, hence the ICJ threw out our case.
1.In the case of PID, it's a clear case of fraud. 2.Deal worth almost a sixth of our budget did not pass thru FEC at that time, AS THE LAW PROVIDES. 3.Country's Second in command evidently did not know about it 4.Papers were allegedly smuggled to Saudi for a frail Yardua to sign. Allegations even abound that his signature was forged. 5.DUE PROCESS WAS NOT FOLLOWED.
Does it not seem just a tiny suspicious that PID would have loved PMB to quickly approve the 850m FOR DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING?? I was pointing out the fact to someone who said that just because a bunch of papers was signed does not mean anything. As for the highly suspicious way the contract was done, it only shows how bad successive governments has been in Nigeria. One signed it, another settled it (IMHO to appease some camp/cabal),and the current government failed to take concrete steps as at when due to ensure that it never got to the level of getting to court. The current situation is as a direct result of previous administrations screwing up monumentally and the current one's failure and lack of proactive actions. This government should know that governance is a continuum and it is the responsibility of any incoming government to try as much as they possibly can to undo whatever rubbish done by their predecessor. That is why it should never take any serious government 6 months to get a cabinet. PS: I seriously hope for the sake of Nigerians we get out of this mess without paying a dime, but i am of the opinion that we probably have missed the window to do that. |

wirinet: In all these grammar, I did not see what was sold or what was bought? No government will give away millions or dollars just because a piece of paper was signed. If so then government officials can just sell the country with a piece of paper and arbitration panel I London or Japan will just ratify it. If this was done with a reasonable country, it will be seen as a declaration of war. The Bakassi peninsula was given to Cameroon because a "bunch of papers were signed". We have successively always voted in governments who are reactive rather than proactive. This government for some reason just added the 'blame it on the previous administration' to that regular playbook. What scares me is that the way things work in Nigeria successive governments will continue to use this passing the blame tactics and the citizenry will continue to bicker amongst ourselves based on some sentimental, tribal or religious attachment. I fear for our future. |

Nostradamus: Guys,some questions;
1)what makes Victor oladipo a good player?
2)does Victor oladipo deserve a max-contract?
3)is Vic oladipo a better player than Ben Simmons?
4)is oldipo one of the best 10 guards in the league?
I need fast answers please Oladipo plays Elite D, can create for himself and others and last but definitely not the list can hit clutch shots. He is more like a near max player, but for the pacers they might have to pay the full max since they are not really a choice destinations for FA. Right now especially in playoff situations oladipo gets off the board first if I am picking players. But if I'm betting on upside then Ben is definitely the choice. Top 10 2 guards yes. But not top 10 guards |

Roland17: How about PG13? You just signed a 4-year contract last year with the Thunder but as soon as Kawhi came calling you requested for a trade. As if that was not enough, you made a video on Twitter to announce your plan to leave to the embarrassment of the Thunder fanbase, as if that was not enough embarrassment, you lie during your unveiling that the Thunder wanted the trade which Sam Presti has duly denied as untrue!!!
Do you even know the ironic thing about the whole thing that happened in OKC? The exemplary level of maturity Brodie exhibited throughout the show by PG13. He remained calm and quiet and the decision to trade him was mutually agreed upon by him and OKC. When it was clear he was going to the Rockets, he wrote a heartfelt message to the fans. That is what I call a class act.
Against popular opinions on this thread, I have maintained my stance about this nonsense and trust me, the owners are going to strike back somehow and it will be hard especially on the players who are not popular or not stars in the league. As a fan I don't like seeing players just demand trades while under contract. That being said if the teams who also signed same contract can do so, I see no issues with players also having that right. Blake and CP3 just got traded while under contracts and nobody blamed the teams because everyone could see they made a decision for the benefit of their franchises. So also I will not begrudge a player who makes these decisions especially with the aim to try and get into a winning situation. This upcoming season is going to be incredible anyways can't wait for it to start |

steady986: I think it'll drop more than that because of his lack of mid range and 3 ball. I say something like 20-22 ppg. It could change if he learns to shoot. Maybe in the playoffs. But in the regular season, with more of an up tempo transition game. He will score 25-26 points. Most people forget the only reason he did not average 30pts last season is because he never played garbage minutes during a blowout win and the Bucks led the NBA in blowout wins during the regular season |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 8:09pm On Jul 21, 2019 |
steady986: But my initial point wasn't that they won't fit, because I think they'll do just fine. What my argument is, is that will they let him run the offence like he did with the Bucks? In the Bucks he had the ball at least 2 out of 3 possessions on attack. That was why he was able to come up with those numbers. Do you think GS will make him the primary scorer on their team? Don't you think it will be totally different from the way they play? You are quite right, his time bringing up the ball might drop to 1 out of 3, but the greater threat of Steph and Klay will mean he will never get double teamed and based on his numbers against double teams and the fact that he will have minutes on the floor where both Steph an Klay will be sitting, I still think he averages 25-26pts a night. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 8:54am On Jul 21, 2019 |
steady986: Of course. Their primary scoring method was through Giannis, the 3 shooters just fed off him. Do you see that being the case with GS? In an alternative universe where Giannis plays for GSW, IMHO his play will complement their ball movement offence. With due respect to the shooters on the bucks team, non of them are Steph or Klay. Defences will not be able to collapse on Giannis when he brings the ball up for the simple fact that GSW shooters are always moving and cutting. When steph is running things his PnR with Giannis will be devastating especially because Giannis can not only roll to the basket he can pop and make the extra pass no matter how difficult that pass is. I believe the fit will be more of a symbiosis, one where they all fit. |

Giannis does not need a 3 pt shot IMO. Just a reliable jumper whether from 8-12ft that he can hit even at a 50 percent clip. LeNomad for example is less than 40% from the floor anywhere outside 3ft. Career. Let that sink in Speaking as a Spurs fan, Tim Duncan during the early 00's was a stone cold killer, boring but a killer. His ability to just get a bucket or a stop whenever his team needed it was just astonishing. |

SmooshCHN: And then we have one dude with max contract called Andrew Wiggins who has taken pride in his consistency. Dude has managed to remain the same since he was drafted. And then there is Giannis improving every year. A tale of two franchises, both of them bet on the upside of one of their young players and gave them a $100million max contract that they had not really earned. One of those players(Giannis)has been an all NBA caliber player and MVP of the league, while the other(Wiggins) just plateaued and became the poster boy for early bad max contracts. |
