I'm not discounting western influences. Afterall, it's all part of the whole human experience, we influence each other, it's what it is. They too dropped many practices after learning from other peoples experiences.

What I tried to address in my post is the fact most of these practices we are so quick to label African and barbaric are actually human practices practiced by virtually all human cultures. And Also that we are capable of reformation too. We've actually carried out many and influenced others.

What we need to be careful about is the "we were saved by them" mentality, especially when it's one sided and ignores the fact that we lost cultural leverage too. This is probably not the thread for this conversation anyway.

Not sure a pedestrian bridge will work. They are often too few and too far away for many pedestrians that it becomes impractical.

Most of these roads should not be highways/ freeways at all.

It's unfortunate that govt over the years have neglected road infrastructure. These roads in close proximity to residential areas should have street lights and walk crossings for pedestrian folks. Unfortunately due to the limited road infrastructure we have, the roads are too busy for such solutions.

A freeway to bypass these residential areas will free these smaller roads up for such solutions. (traffic lights, pedestrian crossings e.t.)

It will be better to build expressways/ freeways to drain fast moving traffic from these "Trunk B" roads so they can be more pedestrian and commuter friendly

Unfortunately Gbawe and Katsumoto = "split votes"

Not good for their fans. They should merge and form a mega-party with one candidate.

One more, there is a long-term controversy within Ifa "theology" about the role and the appropriateness of Iyanifas ( female babalawos). From my understanding, some Ifa purists (many of them diasporan) believe that women cannot become Real Babalawos, while many reformist Ifa believers in the diaspora see that as an old rule they can dispense with. Presently we have female Babalawos (Iyanifas) practicing all over the world, to me that is the power of self reformation within the religion.

For the sake of honest clarification: I'll add that the Iyanifa practice is actually supported by traditional Africa based Ifa scholars and practitioners, experts like Prof. Wande Abimbola even argued that women were never prevented from becoming Babalawos and most of the diasporan purists were influenced by christian prejudices and practices they learnt after arriving on slave ships. Which is very ironic  

There are more examples, Too tired to go further right now. Maybe people with deeper knowledge of other religions can chime in with examples from theirs. I know muslims have enough reformation epochs in their history too.

Christianity is not responsible for modernity, humanity is.
