I am waiting to see a thread that will unite all the "mechanic" on this forum. Some months ago it was baba40 and Gazzuzz, then Anty Radautoworks came to offer free service now it is the reverse. This is actually what makes car talk interesting, always looking forward to one fight or the other.

Only two engineers have seen it so far..
The first guy was the one that rescued me at Highway brakedown.
Initially he wanted to a quick fix by changing the top cylinder gasket and so but later called back to inform me about the fried ring pairs so I went with my mech and towed it back home over a 100km journey.
Upon close examination by my mech he concluded the pistons, block, cylinders and connecting rods were okay except for the rings, no cracks or whatsoever.
I will agree with you that the engine must have seen terrible things for the rings to have mellted but he insisted on premium rings instead of engine.
I could afford a new engine too but I felt theres no harm in trying..
So i'm buying the rings today and lubricants tomorrow..
I will keep you posted as we proceed.

Guys do not take this information with a pinch of salt. The members of the Governing Councils are mostly state level politicians and the principal officers are technocrats who might be classmates and colleagues to people you know. With the constitution of the Governing Councils and appointment of Principal Officers, all the new Polytechnics and FCEs will now fully take off hence the massive need for both academic and non-academic staff. I'll try and get a link to the full list of those appointed and paste here so we all can push our buttons. Good luck to us.

I've spoken to four other mechanics including Gazzuz, all of em recommended a new engine..
.. and I'm sure your guy will say same too but I've trusted my mech overtime cos we work for the same transport company.
He told me of such problems he had solved without changing the engines and the cars are still running after 5 years, I know of one Camry 2010 he ringed for a colleague too.

However, he urged me to get the ultra premium ring pairs, cos most part dealers sell fakes that would fail after two months, so I'm giving it a last try and I hope it wont end our relationship cos I really love the car.

Hello Uncle, last week my mechanic removed the thermostat from my Accord 2007, this week the car overheated and the rings melted.
upon examination by two different mechanics, they recommend I change the engine but my main mechanic insisted I buy the authentic rings, top gasket, gum and connecting rod bearings.

The previous guys said it's a bad idea to ring Hondas and toyotas but my mech said he has ringed all of em in the past and even after 5 years those cars were still running.
Any headway pls?!

My pugeot Boxer 2005 dose not start untill it is primed with fuel, any time it gose off it has to be primed before it comes up.

What could be the problem, any one with similar experience? It's a deasle engine.

Hi,

I was hoping to update everyone with some heartwarming news but sadly the good news would have to be for a later date.

I was forced to cancel my appointment with the nairalander who graciously accepted to check the health of the vehicle because I am currently stranded, somewhere in the East because the vehicle was not roadworthy after all.

In case you are wondering, I got to my destination in the East quite alright but the events of the following day proved that our safe arrival was only by the grace of God.

The first thing that greeted us the next day was the exhaust smoke at start-up.

Then the following error codes: P0430, P2251, P1717, P0134 and P2647.

and the last was a terrible noise coming from the back axle of the vehicle. A quick check by one of the technicians here showed that the rear differential was completely bursted. A bit upset about this for obvious reasons.

Anyways, I already purchased another and would have it fixed tomorrow so I can get back to Lagos on Friday.

I am still hopeful all will be well at the end.
