What an edifice? For those who couldn't read through, here is the summary. G. Cappa Plc. (then Ltd), and built the structure. John Godwin, a British professor of Architecture since 1954 said that the construction of the Independence House began in 1959 but was completed in 1961. He also said that the structure was being built at the same time with Western House in Broad Street Lagos which is a steel frame building. The structure was built on Raft foundation instead of Pile foundation and hence, one of the problems. |
