Fhemmmy: Nigeria will be better but we all have to be ready to make it be like this . . . Keep enjoying your stay and hopefully one day, we all will take all we learn from here there and we pray that the people there will welcome the change with open armsBig one......all I can say is Amen! |
Sleek5: @ChriGo: i have not been denied or approved, have not heard anything yet from CDHC, i submitted last month only. i am just asking the house to help me review my initial post and to tell me if i stand a successful chance or not. thanks.Check your post....you said "2012".....hope it wasnt a mistake? |
Fhemmmy: I said more than that when i left Nija oh, but it will get to a point where you will just wanna go homeI agree with you. ...even though I have only done one month....I know home go still be home! I enjoy myself here...things are better but I wish home was like this or will be like this.....I miss naija! |
Fhemmmy: Canada is really growing and we need you too to come and join us . . . Add yourself to this number to make Canada bigger but better too at same time.Nice one Oga Fhemmy! |
darefestus: Yeah, Me.Bros....please add a couple of other decent schools in addition ooo....cos I dey fear dat school these days...looks like oyinbo sef dey do 419..I applied there two years sgo and was told they had backlog...same story tjey like 4 of my friends last year and this year after collecting plenty application fee from people and same backlog story. And infact one had over 4 point and na story. ...another friend that got his admission and deferred till 2013 got there and said he is the only Naija in class.....na pub health ooo(MSc) wey plenty Nigerians don apply for....at least this year I knew about 3 that applied for Fall and wasnt picked....whereas chinko plenty for him class. ...I aint saying you shouldnt be positive ooo but be wise to apply to other schools! Another friend picked last year was best grad in Ife with 4.8(I believe say that one them no get choice ) |
frederal: And if u need their funding, like "Dommakaveli", its 75 % passmark. And if u think Eminem raps fast, wait till you come here, cos you gonna see some faster ones( lecturer included)...u may wonder if its realy English or they're speaaking in tonguesAs I much as I agree with you on the need to be prepared. ..dont let us over stress this thing to scare people....As much as Naija unis arent practical oriented. ...they fortify your retentive ability....I dont know the school you finished from but I wont classify Ife as rubbish....Its a great school that has built me....functioning with little resources....Look at how much funding these guys here recieve from Agencies? And check out their endowment fund?compare to one of my profs in Ife receiving 10000 naira per session for research?Me honestly speaking, dont believe these guys are more intelligent than my lecturers back home. ...they are just trying! The challenge most people I believe will have when they come is adjusting back to academic life....cos we don comot from school long ago except for the extremely unserious one.... Cos come to think of it.....the studying condition is too conducive for an average serious Nigerian not to do well....And I have been following my pals here and in U.S...na As all through. ..most of them. ..in fact clearing awards...I look at my environment now compared to back in Ife....And I trying to psyche myself up that its tough here but my mind keeps telling me to face the truth..."this is small potatoes compared to naija" There is light, there's 24 hr internet access, there's assurance of 3 square meal....infact in my case i have an "office" furnished with study corner, system and lounge(filled with stuff to eat in school) and all i need do is study!I dont see it as tough....i see it as switching back to school mode for those that went to decent schools back home and were serious! My advice:switch back to reading mode...be more practical and thinking oriented....never think these guys are more intelligent than us(what I found out?,they can talk in class but depth no too dey for a couple of them ),be grateful to God for your naija experience!Cos when I speak in class. ..dem sef dey listen! Lastly,Believe and never fear that you are coming here to be the best.....not to just study!target the skies maybe you will fall on tree top.....Trust in God....and work.....Success is inevitable! |
Samgreguc: thanks for this advice.. I wish to grad wit ntn less than 4.5All the best |
I finished with 4.22, I'm guessing that's a plus for me! Good one, never one who took cGPA serious tho!
good one....all the best |
Mexx baba, Cognosy is a tough one oo, prolly because our lecturers in that dept are not friendly. Pharmchem by far, then Clinical pharmacy, I'll see how pharmacology look like when I start. About that, do you have any info for people who want to fly out of this countries to UK, US, Canada and the likes.. How is it like? We wish you all the very best..
The question is very broad....info on what exactly cos those are three different countries with three different standards. However, common denominator is that Pharmacy is more rewarding here than home....you can imagine earning an average of$500 per day and average of &$150-200k per annum....you dont want to convert that to Naira right?cos if you did...u'l weep for Pharmacy in Naija |
FelcoCom: on my admision letter jamb wrote u r to study 4yrs course.....is pharm a 4 or 5yrs course.....nd after graduatin frm school...wats nextIts gonna be written as four although mine was five but I think its becos Pharmacy school doesn't reckon with Part 1 as Part of your Pharmacy knowledge acquisition process. However,I want to advise to please not listen to people and lecturers that will say its not about g.p if you have plans to further or pick up sime reputable jobs or further outside country. ...dont joke with g.p abeg! 4.0 is d minimum you can finish with to have soft landing. All the best! |
Tommybob: plss... Is it compulsory to av masters in pharm b4 u can go for pharmDMasters in Pharmacy before pharm.D?If Nigeria, definitely No. If you are asking about Canada, not sure you have to? Pharmacy school is Faculty of Pharmacy, that's how we call it in ife. |
Never knew there is a thread like this....I am a Pharmacist, grad from ife....5 yrs ago. ...now in Canada for MSc,Health sciences. You guys are doing a great job! Make una welcome me oooo ![]() |
clusterphobia: Omo!! I chop medics today!! Na my agents call tell me so. They saidmy passport neva show na dats Y I dey ask to ensure na real chopping and no be say I dey chop for dream!!Congrats |
Olugbenger: Kristana...its been a while...were have you been?Good to have O.A.U guys around...... |
Adeola. ..good job. ..got the objective. .. I wudnt want to put my name in a pub domain but can p.m or get p.m'd if need be for further gist. That's what we do on the "travel" thread. Finished from IFe,2008.did I. T twice in National Hospital Abuja.did intership in The teaching hospital ife and served in FMC abia.Worked in community Pharmacies in Abuja for months then joined GSK,left after a year and also worked with Sanofi Aventis too.Left this year and now Alberta,Faculty of Health Sciences for MSc. I am at the very early stage of conversion exams to practice in Canada. I enjoyed my time in Pharmacy school.Pharmcology was my best course in the earlies while Clinical Pharmacy was my best in 4 and 5. Thanks |
apple08: Kayconsult pls kindly explain more about this, i read this and am a bit confused. So u mean there's a difference btwn Grad cert. and PGD? I tot it was the same thing since entry requirements was 3yrs uni degree. thanksthe term PGD here in Canada talks about your college prog ,preferably considered if your g.p isn't really good,if you have cost concerns with uni or your background in undergrad isnt strong enough to proceed to uni straight. ..so you are advised sometimes to take some courses in college. In Naija,we call it PG school but I know if you finish with anything less than 2-2 in Ife you do PG before starting your masters. The college and grad school arent separated in Naija usually. IFE calls it PG college serving both purposes |
Hi guys, I am a pharmacist(pharm D) currently serving, I really need motivators because my dream is to pratise outside the country to create a better life for myself. I am in dire need of advise on how to start.
Hello Ebony, What help do you need exactly? Siga: ...Chrigogo...u never sleep...I tire too o Oga Siga ![]() |
Siga: ...Programs differ.... adaptation yato... I know what I am talking about for saying this bro.... I just dont pick sh1t up from the sky when I say something... ok... u do well... I cant fault anyone that cant do it... its not easy for alot...I agree with you sir....Totally on adaptation. ..but not necessarily on programs difference. ...cos Nobody they this Canny wey no go use internet for the course! How many minutes will it cost to open a tab for Nairaland?? While working on loads of assignments? No matter how tough your programme is? What I see is how the human mind functions....when you looking for TRV....you are active....thereafter. ...you shift! |
Siga: ...Word of advise for those of una wey still dey wait for visa.... Make una know say studying in Canada no be yams ooo... if u know u are not ready for the workload and all... stay ur a$$ back for Lagos... its alot of work and not a joke... so... be read to study wella and assignments... dont come with ur arrogance claiming dem no dey study for abroad... u go FAIL.... .....Oga Siga na true....however,me still dey now. ..I think its about being "selfless".....I believe in giving back to help those still back home. ...and I believe thats why you, solomonwis,Fhemmy,Oga GboyegaD. ...etc still dey active....I dont believe it costs much reading through the forum and helping out!it takes only few minutes. ...I still do my studies wella.....hours too.I watch soccer so I why wont I have the time to do this..... |
