emmy4Gold: Good Afternoon my people. Please I need help on what to do. I applied for study permit on the 16th of April 2021 with a passport that would expire on the 1st of September 2021. At the moment, l am yet to receive my renewed passport. I will like to know if this would affect the VO in reaching a conclusion on my application. Also, is it possible IRCC send me PPR when I have not send my renewed passport to them. I will appreciate your timely response. Gurus in the house kindly advice me on this It won't affect your application. However, you need to urgently start the your passport renewal process to enable you submit the new passport should you get approved. All the best. |

afrobrown2000: @Lianna2020...when you say 50/50..... i just found out this from a masters student at UNI of BC who is a friend.. she is a Mastercard scholarship student (1st class). During her application for student visa Mastercard gave them a dedicated Immigration assistant to help them have a smooth application and transition.
The immigration Assistant told/advised her to apply for SP and avoid applying for SOWP for her husband. she should just apply for the visiting visa for the husband. That this increases his chances of getting approval via Visiting visa than SOWP. Which they did and they both where issued the visa.
The immigration assistant advised them once the husband gets into the country he can apply for SOWP easily by driving or getting to the immigration border and get his SOWP (that it is his entitlement to get SOWP once he is present in the country) issued same day (esp in BC dont know if there is a restriction in other Province) this was before Covid, during Covid you apply for it online it takes less than 2 months max. This worked for them
This makes sense to me. She said some of her colleagues that applied for SOWP and where unlucky are still finding it difficult to get their spouse SOWP or Visa approved.
For those of us that are well experience and those that are already in Canada what are your views?.... I would like us to explore this pathway Actually no two applications are the same. I was advised not to even apply together with my spouse and kids and some said I should just apply for visit for my spouse. At the end, I weighed my options and I didn't want the delay that comes with trying to bring my family to join me after landing in Canada. I ended up applying for SOWP for my spouse and visit for the kids. And to God's glory we were all approved. The good side of this approach is that, it's a lot easier if you are going for a PhD program that is fully or partially funded. In my case, I was partially funded and I have some funds to show too. You must also be able to logically convince the VO as to why you must go with the entire family vis-a-vis your home ties. So you must strategically weigh your options and your circumstances before making that decision. Best of luck everyone. |

Veryyyyyy long post alert!!! PPR for my entire family . Our God is faithful. In 2018 after a family trip to Dubai, we concluded exploring Canada or Australia. After several attempts at the EE, we decided to go through the study permit route. With my MSC, I decided to look for a PhD admission in 2018. (This was a rigorous process) I finally got an admission in December 2020. Application submitted Jan 15th 2021 Biometric done Jan 19th updated same day. NSE request Feb 2nd, for MBS and IELTS. Responded same day and acknowledged Feb 5th. I only submitted my IELTS and LOE for the MBS Upfront medical updated Feb 11. Spouse eligibility and one of the kids started Feb 11. Longest waittttttt of my life. My eligibility started April 12. Requested for 1st note, no so much information. 2nd note, status came back as recommend interview. 3rd note, received May 26th, status came back as review required. In between, there were ghost updates. Last ghost update was on 12th July. PPR 22nd July. Documents submitted. For me: All the Immigration documents WES document My certificates (ND, HND, BSC, MsC, CIPM, ICAN) Email exchanges between I and my supervisor. CV ( I have been working in a corporate environment all my life, so you dont have to be in academics to convince the VO for your PhD) Property valuation for my landed properties. (Not professional valuation, just got a letter from the property company) Pay slips for the last 3months. Promotion letter Police report Vehicle document Marriage certificate My complementary card Work ID card Pension statement. NYSC certificate Passport pages for travel history. (SA, Kenya and UAE) I never travel well well. Lol Family pictures LOE POF Partial funding of 14k CAD per annum Stanbic mutual funds statement. N5.8mio Bank statements $4k and N1.2mio Fixed deposit: 11mio For my wife: Her work related do documents (ID, trainings, promotion letters etc) Her stanbic pension statements LoE Her certificates For the kids: Vaccination cards Birth certificates School pictures Reports cards Guys, I won't say my application was perfect, but his grace was sufficient. And at 38yrs, age shouldn't be a barrier! I'm sure someone is inspired. I'm still speechless!!! |

Intrepid01: Honestly your case with that guy is just dicey, I meanso difficult to judge. I remember you said you won't still pay him even if he doesn't charge back. I mean look at the date he charged back and the date he made payment for you, that's like a month after. He should have long been paid for the service he rendered. Fine,I remember you asked him to provide a valid identity. But I think the lesson here for all is that we should agree on terms and conditions before initiating business transaction with people we don't know. Both of you would take part of the blame.
Pls don't think that anybody that doesn't support you is a friend to the guy or a partner in crime. I don't know him from anywhere My thought too |

"Hello,
We hope this reaches you well.
With careful writing, we wish to thank the Nation of Canada for giving us the opportunity to become students in various institutions of learning in Canada as such bringing about synergy between the two countries (Nigeria and Canada), while also putting both countries on path of growth through transfer knowledge & technical know-how.
In recent years, the economy of Canada has grown exponentially and thus competing with other great nations of the world on all positive Indices among which includes affordable and top notch educational system.
That said, we have now noticed some unexplainable delays we applicants from Nigeria are facing to acquire a study permit into Canada. Comparing our processing time with other countries, it is really disheartening that Canada study applications from Nigeria takes a minimum of 3 to 6 months and on average, while in some instances we have seen applicants get decision between 8 to 14 months.
Just recently, the NIGERIAN STUDENT EXPRESS (NSE) scheme was introduced, and this was to mirror the SDS program and act as catalyst in expediting the application process for those who meet up with the requirements. Interestingly, those who got selected for this route and met the requirements hardly get a decision within 3months of their application, as against the stipulated 20 calenders days processing time according to IRCC.
The rate at which Nigerian students defer admission is becoming alarming, for which our different institutions of higher learning attested to and even willfully propose deferment just to cushion the effect due to the delay in decision making from the immigration desk.
There is no gain saying most students have set out plans on commencement and time expected time of return to their home after study to impact lives, develop the growing society and help fight the economic challenges, but the long processing time had made a lot to alter or extend these visions and goals. It is worthy of note that time lost can never be recuperated.
Recently, we had seen our colleagues from other countries received responses and favourable decisions in 20 days or less whilst contemporaries from other countries do not get decisions in 6 months or more. The degree of disparity is shocking and unexplainable.
We believe international students are integral part of the economic & population growth plans of Canada. We therefore appeal to the immigration authorities to revisit and reconsider our processing time, to enable our future aspiration see the light of the day in a timely manner.
Thanks and God bless you" |

Legacyedition: Indian did this last year. Protested everywhere, online, vfs and embassy.
They did it and they are reaping it now.
Maybe we start our protest from Asekun. The Nigerian ambassador to Canada,
Nairobi visa office.
Ircc ottawa
Canadian Ambassador to Nigeria.
Marco Mendicino Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship .
It's getting out of hands. When those Indians were throwing tantrums last year, I was thinking they were killing their chances, never knew the oppression in this country was actually affecting my thinking and reasoning faculty.
They are reaping it now my people.
I am not good with social media, especially twitter.
Someone more knowledgeable should compose and organise how we protest this long wait. We will continue on daily basis till there's a change.
Please don't ignore . It will work.
Cc:
Mobi11 Electro Mzmisty Longjohnjoe I'm totally in support of this. I have been practically unable to make major decisions since I submitted my application since Jan. 4months are gone already. We shouldn't be at their mercy I beg! Protest shouldn't necessarily have to be physical to start with, we can start on Twitter. Thanks |

Is there anybody that pay through form A recently, if yes please how much did the bank charge you. Note that CBN only sells USD for this purpose. However, the bank purchases the USD from you and remit in the currency on your invoice. In this case CAD. I used form A in mid January, as at then USD rate from the CBN was 395.50 and CAD equivalent was 316.46. However as at yesterday CBN USD rate was 412 and dollar equivalent was 330. So I guess it's fair. Best of luck. |

Upton: Good day all.
Please I need advise on what to do.
I applied for admission with Chukwuka as my surname, Olusegun as first name and Nasir as middle name. So in my online application form, my full name is showing as Chukwuka Olusegun Nasir (surname, first name and middle name). At that moment, I didn't remember that in all my previous school documents/certificates and even National ID card and international passport, I wrote my middle name between my first name and surname, so it shows as Chukwuka Nasir Olusegun.
When the school received my supporting documents, they asked for a government issued ID because the way my name was arranged in my documents was different from how I filled it in the online application and I sent them a copy of my national ID card showing Chukwuka Nasir Olusegun explaining that in the past, I wrote my names in Surname, middle name and First name format. I haven't heard from them since and I don't know if the name concern is the reason I haven't gotten a decision yet.
I am thinking if I should just wait it out or go ahead to do a sworn one and same person affidavit and send to the school. Please I will appreciate your opinions. Shouldn't really be an issue since all the three names are on the ID. But going forward, kindly arrange your names properly as this could be taken for someone else in it's entirety. Best of luck. |
