I searched for this thread on Google using the term "the middle path sarassin" and this thread came up as the number one result.

Perhaps, the realization that I am neither here nor there made me seek out this thread again. It didn't quite fulfil my search intent, but it's a great read. Seven years later and I still struggle to grasp some of the content OP posted.

Seven years later, it feels nostalgic going through the thread again. I am grateful for where we all are now. Super grateful for my experience those days. Perhaps, someday, I will share how Nairaland (the people I met here) became my past, present and future.

This your post has been on my mind since I saw it. I've been wondering, what would I do, if I were in your shoes?

To be honest, I just shut my brain off. Because, since I cannot relate with her, I can't truly know how she's feeling. Only someone with same experience can.
And considering I've had addiction issues in the past, I know how silly it sounds when someone says "just be disciplined" or "get over it."

Sarassin doesn't really know how he changed me. One time I was meditating, and images of me having a sexual encounter with my uncle flashed in my mind. I can't say, "I was raped," because from the memories, it appeared I was already a pervert. Lol. Atleast, I understood why I was so fvcking hypersexual.

This matter is very touching to me because I have a former student who went through the same ordeal---from an uncle who was supposed to watch over her. She suffered mental breakdown for about two years. To the extent she was collapsing in school.

My mind wants to even believe we're talking of the same girl, but given the location you mentioned, she's probably not.

The black jacket must have been their graduation attire. I did some during my time. The hand sign is not a hand sign, it means 4 years. I equally did the same to symbolize that I had spent 4 years In school.

Seuns forum is a clear representation of the staring lack of creative minds in Nigeria. It gets boring after a while, reading the same thing over and over again.

Maybe it's just a particular demographic loaded here, however, it's glaring that most of us aren't widely read. So, we keep seeing the same thing over and over again. Political discourse, zero. Philosophical discourse, zero. Open minded discourse self on the number one topic, relationship, zero. Women are slots and men are scum. That's all.

We don't even discuss policies and other stuff related to society that affects all of us. Not that I attacking the Nigerian here. I'm well aware of economic situations and how it cripples the mind.

These days, I spend more time on reddit because, In as much as it has similar themes as nairaland, it's jam packed with creative and intellectual people. The discourse going on dear is mind blowing and a harsh awakening, even for me, of my willful ignorance of so many aspects of life.

One could say, many of us are on the low scale of the Marslows hierachy of needs. Well, that would be true, too. Since inflation hit, I've found it difficult to read anything that isn't "increasing my income" related.

Reddit is my go to place now self. I just realised we no like dey help ourselves for this country. I one time posted on reddit that I was frustrated and didn't know how to navigate my career path. Come and see calculated advice..😁 😁 😁..Somebody even DM me to send CV. I didn't sha. My skillet never reach that level.
