I feel sorry for men doing DNA tests in Nigeria. Who knows how many homes bogus results have ruined? Nigerian labs can't even get genotype correctly.

If you want to do DNA tests, they should get someone to take the sample abroad and run it on their behalf.

It's expensive, but not that complicated. At BSc level we were already using Polymerase Chain Reaction to amplify genes.

This is the first step in DNA sampling. You take the Father's gene and Sons gene. Then increase their quantity using the reaction I mentioned above, then extract genetic information with a different machine.

The problem lies not in the availability of the equipment itself, but in the person operating the machines. Not to say that the equipment couldn't be faulty, but given it's naija, the cases of false negative are more likely to occur than false positive.



If the person contaminates the sample, which happens very easily--- even sweat droplets in the aircould mess things up..
