That is much more important than anything else. The law and knowledge of the legal outcomes as well as material conditions and potential benefits are what shape human behavior. Women realize that they can maltreat their husbands, lie about abuse at their hands of their husbands, lie about the paternity of their children and they will suffer zero ramifications. Worse still, they will be rewarded with the family house, a portion of the man's income and even his pension. Why men still get married in the western world is beyond me.
