Christianity Etc › Re: Faith Vs. Work: Where Is The God Factor In Our Success? by Kobojunkie: 11:33pm On Jan 23, 2025*. Modified: 12:52am On Jan 24, 2025 |
derico: Happy Sunday folks. As Christians, especially in Nigeria, many of us share the belief that God is the one who knows how things will come together. We trust that He works in ways beyond our understanding, aligning things for our good. But here’s the struggle: when we plan our lives, especially as businesspeople or individuals striving for personal growth, we often find ourselves relying on our own effort and strategies. You know how they say you can't feature in the future you did not picture. We resume the year with new year goals and resolutions. Take me, for example. I’ve been trying to plan my finances and set a goal of earning ₦1 million monthly. When I sit down to strategize, it’s all physical processes—step-by-step actions within my ability. Then I work hard, follow my plan, and sometimes, I hit the target. But as I sit and plan this time, I'm asking myself: where is the God factor in all this? How do I leave room for a miracle, or will it be all just my effort? The conflict lies here: If I plan every detail and grind through my work- doing only the things I can do, isn’t that purely my doing? ➜ And if I picture what I want, pray about it, and leave the “how-to” entirely to God, won’t I feel stuck, waiting for something divine to happen?—Coz the 1m is not enough...but from the things I know to do, and can be present in mind and body to do, I can hit that amount. However just a moment ago, I came to realize something deeper. Life is too complex for us to assume that success is simply the result of one plus one equals two. Yes, I worked hard. Yes, I planned well. But look around—plenty of people work just as hard (or harder) and don’t see the same results. Why? Because there are countless factors outside our control. The God factor is in those unseen variables: ➜ The ability to even sit down, think clearly, and strategize. The health to execute your plans when others are held back by illness. Favor in the networks and connections that ensure your effort doesn’t go to waste. Lesser emergencies—problems that don’t overwhelm your resources and derail your plans. A sense of focus and calmness that allows you to follow through when others feel scattered. ➜It’s a miracle to live a coordinated, planned life. Many don’t have that privilege. Some are praying fervently but can’t seem to focus or catch a break. For you to have that alignment—your health, your mind, your circumstances—it’s not luck. It’s grace. So, while it might feel like your success is purely the result of your hustle, the truth is that God’s hand is in every layer of it. The subtle miracles—the ones we don’t often recognize—are just as real as the dramatic, unexplainable ones. ➜What are your thoughts? Have you ever struggled with this tension between faith and effort? How do you balance planning with leaving room for the Unlimited God? 1. You already have all of the evidence to reveal that you are indeed the one in charge of your life and future since your efforts have all this while contributed the greatest to determining it as you are aware. 2. So, for all the atheists across the globe who notoriously realize more success than most of you religious folks, what you want us to believe here is that this God factor applies more in their favor than it does to you religious folks, right? 3. There is actually no evidence that religious individuals experience fewer emergencies. So, that you, in your own life have experienced fewer emergencies DOES NOT then mean all religious folks have experienced the same in their lives. Even death and emergencies show up at the steps of your GOs. 4. This claim of yours is again not based on facts but on your private delusions. 5. These assertions of yours are the typical baseless claims made by the overly religious in an attempt to justify a delusion or another born of their particular religion of choice. |

MrPresident1: ➜Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Because John was of the Old Covenant and not of the New Covenant which is Jesus Christ of Israel. John and all of the other prophets of Old were instead of a different Covenant — the Covenant of Moses of Israel — and therefore could not be and would not be judged by the same standard as those who are considered the least in the Kingdom of God of Israel — the New Covenant of Israel — would be judged. Basically, according to Jesus Christ of Israel both the greatest and the least in the Kingdom of God of Israel— the New Covenant — will be judged by the standard that He set. However, since John and others are less than the least, they are not subject to being judged by the New Covenant/The Kingdom of God of Israel. |

danvon: ➜So, Hebrews did not originate in Canaan by biblical narrative. ➜I don't have energy for pointless arguments, pick up a Bible and read. No place was it ever implied that Canaanites belong to the same group as Hebrews. Canaanites were constantly painted as evil people, which is why their land was forfeit. The record of the existence of the Canaanites goes as early as Genesis 9 - 12. They existed long before Jacob and His family came to be. 2. The one arguing pointlessly here is you though since you make claims that conflict with information contained in the Israelite Scriptures. The term Hebrew is revealed to have been in place since as early as Genesis 10 and this is about people who are connected to Jacob whose descendants are referred to as the Israelites. FYI, the first mention of the man named Jacob— the progenitor of the Israelites who was reported to have left Egypt for Canaan— is in Genesis 25. |

Again, try to make sure you read and properly digest a comment before responding next time. Kobojunkie: Where you get that statement in bold from? According to Scriptural reports, the land of Canaan which was populated by the Hebrews existed as far back as over 500 years before the migration of the children of Israel—descendants of Jacob, the wandering Aramean—to Canaan from Egypt. So, I am not certain what you mean by the statement in bold which contrasts with the records. Hebrews ARE NOT written in Israelite Scripture to have come from Egypt. 2. Your point is meaningless when you are instead informed both through scripture sources and non-scriptural sources that the people of Hebrew existed in the land of Canaan, long before the people of Israel were written to have migrated to that same land to live among them. The land in question was occupied land before the so-called Israelites showed up to join the existing Hebrew population. |

Fictional: ➜So i am going to draw a curtain on this discussion with my original answer. The devil doesn't tell lies, he tells facts. He uses your experiences, thoughts, ideas, others whom you accept to portray something that looks true and reasonable. Most Christians are too smart for lies, remember the devil quoted the Bible, do we say the Bible is lying? No. The devil doesn't just use lies he uses facts, and these days more and more people can not distinguish facts from the truth. Facts is backed up by what people accept The truth is backed up by God's words. Thank you. God words have two things in common, purpose and timing. 1. So, the Bible is the standard of Truth as far as this claim of yours. This makes it easy to maneuver. What are the passages/texts from the Bible that you believe the Devil quoted and confirms, according to you, his truthiness? According to records in Israelite Scripture, the same Devil rather misquoted Scripture as it pleased him. If the standard is Scripture and he is revealed to have instead misquoted the Prophets, doesn't this then confirm instead that the Devil did in fact tell lies? |
