Omoejigbahe: The argument is lame, can the governors entire salary n entitlements pay for workers salary and consequential adjustments? Even pension payments will ballon. The governors can only pay if they become innovative and create wealth, not relying on Federal allocation. Just one of your National reps alone makes approximately $170,000 a year. How many $1200 salaries(at say $100 a month salary) do you think that can pay? ▶ Any amount less than $64.5 or Naira 94,893.69 is extreme poverty and should not even be considered of worth. ▶ Any amount less than $68 or Naira 102000, which is the former minimum wage adjusted for the approximate 340% depreciation of Naira since February 2023, is pretty much not a raise but adjustment to match the old minimum wage. I suspect the recent increase of 300% for the Judiciary was such an adjustment made against the Naira depreciation level. So this Naira 120,000 or $68 point needs to be where Labor begins its negotiating for a raise. ▶ At the federal level though, anything less than N250,000 should be rejected by federal workers. Given the padding senior workers at the federal level freely give themselves, I see no reason why some of that extra padding should not work it's way down and across the board to other Federal workers. What is a poverty line? A poverty line, also called a poverty threshold, is a set amount of income below which it becomes difficult, if not impossible, for people to afford essentials like food and shelter. Each country determines its poverty line by calculating the cost of meeting minimum needs. Households with incomes below this line are considered to be living in poverty. The international poverty line serves as a standard for measuring extreme global poverty and was recently adjusted to $2.15 a day to reflect the rising cost of necessities and adjust for inflation. Since 1990, it has increased from $1 to $2.15, reflecting the rising cost of living. https://www.worldvision.org/sponsorship-news-stories/global-poverty-facts |

Israelhamas: ■ Alright then. Good clarification. Now, you're sounding less confused. Seems maybe you're not totally a clown after all. Exactly the way you said is the way it is and the way it should be. But then, why are you still getting some things wrong again? Yes, men made religions but Christ came to abolish religions and show us life, the way and truth. Somehow, people still ended up again creating many religion from this. Notwithstanding, Jesus Christ sent His disciples to teach the world what they need to do - Believe only in Him Jesus Christ (Salvation by faith) and then continue to follow His words/commandments. That is what matters and that is what God is looking out for. Look, this is actually very simple! Jesus Christ gave His followers permission to teach only His Truth — His teachings and commandments— using His name. 15 “If you love me, you will do what I command. 16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper[a] to be with you forever. 17 The Helper is the Spirit of truth. The people of the world cannot accept him, because they don’t see him or know him. But you know him. He lives with you, and he will be in you. [b]18 “I will not leave you all alone like orphans. I will come back to you. 19 In a very short time the people in the world will not see me anymore. But you will see me. You will live because I live. 20 On that day you will know that I am in the Father. You will know that you are in me and I am in you. 21 Those who really love me are the ones who not only know my commands but also obey them. My Father will love such people, and I will love them. I will make myself known to them.” 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “Lord, how will you make yourself known to us, but not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered, “All who love me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them. My Father and I will come to them and live with them. 24 But anyone who does not love me does not obey my teaching. This teaching that you hear is not really mine. It is from my Father who sent me. - John 14 vs 15 - 24 So, any teaching that is beyond what you referred earlier to as the red letters, the very words of Jesus Christ, are not of Jesus Christ, and should not be taught using the Name of Jesus Christ. It is that simple! The doctrines and traditions of your religion of Christianity which is modelled after the religion that Jesus Christ condemned during His own time have absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ. All 47,0000 different denominations are all lies sold told to you lot by those whom Jesus Christ condemned as thieves who come only to steal, to kill, and to destroy using HIs name and that of His Fathers. |

ijustdey: “Incidentally, you even asked of minimum wage. What we have been calling for is a living wage for Nigerians and for Nigerian workers. “And we believe that the question you also asked concerning the issues of corruption, the issues of the zeal to work for the state will depend on some of these things. “Pay Nigerians a living wage, corruption will be reduced. Pay Nigerians a living wage, you will ignite the spirit to work for the nation. “But pay minimum wage, I don’t think it will solve the problem. So the position of governors that they are not going to pay more than 70,000 or so a month to Nigerians, it will not help this country, it will not solve our problem, let us be realistic. “Let us look at a living wage that is affordable by the government and if the Executive arm is sincere, see it with Labour. Talk to Nigerians, we will all see what is practicable. Nigerians are angry because they feel that there is so much waste. “I have even seen some publishing humongous figures as salaries of members of parliament and all that. Those are things that will make any Nigerian angry. And then when you talk about N70,000, how can you survive? “I think our laws recognize that a Nigerian should have one or two wives minimum, one wife and four children. You have one wife, you have four children. Will 70,000 take care of the welfare of four children, take care of your rent, transport, and all that? How much is a bag of rice? I completely disagree. Wages, for any job done, should be to the individual and for work done. It should not be based on household size. The idea of a living wage is unsustainable and should be scrapped beginning with those in government who are responsible for the bulk of the corruption in the system we have even today. That the Nigerian law recognizes a person's right to have a wife and four kids is not enough of a reason why the man should then be paid for having the wife and four kids. The argument alone is preposterous abeg and the law ridiculous. The constitution should instead recognize the individual and their right to choose whatever burden, be it family or no family, or even pets, eg. dogs, they would prefer for themselves. And no, employees should not have to pay for whatever burdens a person chooses abeg! |

Civil servants irritate me because of what they do to people like me when we go to thr offices and will not give bribe for services. The same civil servants put this country in a mess by conducting fraudulent elections over yrs. They can go on thr strike I don't care. I will react if they shut banks and cut off grid forceful. They are just 1.2 million and don't represent the larger Nigerians. I don't benefit anything from them.Infact they benefit from me because I pay heavily from my investment in withholding tax and other taxes. ■ Why haven't the nlc gone on strike because of insecurity in the country, death roads in nigeria, poor medical structures and other things that affect most nigeria. So once they are paid well the government is good to go mostly in state level. That is why we have many useless governors. They know once they pay salaries in thr state they are good to go or reelected. Look at how the one in edo has rushed to pay 70k because election is near. You don't fall in my league. I am a core entrepreneur. You should be going to investment thread to learn how to create wealth and stop trying to waste your youth by tryiing to live on salaries ...hahaha .Done with you....cheers The problem with your tirade is this... the ones who shut down your banks and cut off grid were not the Civil servants but the government entities whom you placed in power to make sure those continue to operate for your benefit. So what you are doing is literally taking out your angst against people who don't owe you anything. 2. The people of Nigeria, not the NLC or any other Labor groups, are responsible for going on strike because of insecurity in the country, death on roads in Nigeria, and so on. Again, please start engaging your medulla oblongata abeg and at least learn to apportion blame correctly in these things. These people are simply agitating for better pay from their employers for their pockets as they rightly should. If you decide you are tired of insecurity and deaths on the road and would like to ask them to join you in agitating against that, then let's cross that bridge at that point. |

Israelhamas: ■You can also shove your confused religious stand into the mouth of wherever it fits into. Perhaps, when you are no longer confused about the faith and god you follow, you would start sounding less of a confused person to those reading your posts. How can I have religion when all I have is Jesus Christ whose Words are against Religion from its beginning? Your religion alone boasts of over 47,000 different interpretations which you lot term denominations of the one Truth of God, yet you think you have something that is of Jesus Christ, the one and only Truth of God? 😁😁😁😁😁 You speak of a faith and a god but both clearly are against that established and declared by Jesus Christ Himself and hence His Father, God of Israel. So, of what value are these things you speak of when they directly contravene the Word of the God whom you claim you stand for?😁😁😁😁😁 |

smileyoo: Both the FG and the state governments are highly insensitive to the plights of poor Nigerian workers, because #62k and 60k as national minimum wage makes no sense at all. Ajero's NLC is just too dull , why calling off the strikes when you are not sure of the sincerity and commitment of the government , during the negotiations ? indeed special breeds of heartless humans are presently ruling Nigerians. That was a terrible mistake by the NLC. |

Streetinvestor2: Thr is no difference between elected officials and corrupt civil servants in nigeria. The remaining hard working Nigerians are suffering because of this two groups in nigeria. And those who shut down the grid commited act of terrorism to the nigeria nation.Go create employment. You have brain inside your head.Nobody has ever become rich from salaries. Or you just like collecting bribe and cutting corners in those offices...hahaha .It is never too late to learn a skill if your discipline in school has nothing to offer in nigeria context If you truly believe what you said in your first line then what are you still going on about? Allow the corrupt civil servants to exercise their rights by law in Nigeria where you have your corrupt elected officials sitting comfortably and giving themselves raises anyhow then. Or do you fancy yourself a better person here trying to impede on the rights of workers to agitate for better pay? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 |

Israelhamas: ■ Seems you're making a whole lot of sense here. Only the red letter verses of the four Gospels should have been in the NT. We throw out the remaining 23 books out of the NT. And we trim down the remaining 4 Gospels to only the red letter parts. All the billions of Christian contents all over life throughout the ages are invalid, words of men, not from Jesus. Jesus told to teach and obey only that which he taught. I see. You're a genius. I really wish I had the time to school this clown. Responded like a true adherent of the religion of Christianity. 😁😁😁😁😁😁 Jesus Christ condemned religion beginning with the very religious leaders of His own time, along with their many religious contents— doctrines and traditions of men— which Jesus Christ pointed out were all nothing but lies designed to deceive and delude many away from the very Truth of God - Matthew 15 vs 1 - 14 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13. Yes, Jesus Christ condemned the religion of Judaism, the very same religion that Christianity is famously modeled after. So, no wonder you insist that your religion(its many doctrines and traditions) must remain shoved into the mouth of Jesus Christ same as the Pharisees before you also shoved their ideas into the mouth of God. |
