I came cross 1cor 11::5 which left me short of words this morning and juxterposing it with the old testament leaves my short of words on the fact most pentecostal church including mine. It's there another angle to this? This happens to be another one of the claims in Paul's letters that directly contravenes Jesus Christ who instead said in His Gospel that all men and women are equal and that He alone is Head/Master over those who belong to Him - Matthew 23 vs 8 - 10. 1 Follow my example, just as I follow the example of Christ. Being Under Authority 2 I praise you because you remember me in all things. You follow closely the teachings I gave you. 3 But I want you to understand this: The head of every man is Christ. And the head of a woman is the man.[a] And the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man who prophesies or prays with his head covered brings shame to his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies should have her head covered. If her head is not covered, she brings shame to her head. Then she is the same as a woman who has her head shaved. 6 If a woman does not cover her head, it is the same as cutting off all her hair. But it is shameful for a woman to cut off her hair or to shave her head. So she should cover her head. 7 But a man should not cover his head, because he is made like God and is God’s glory. But woman is man’s glory. 8 Man did not come from woman. Woman came from man. 9 And man was not made for woman. Woman was made for man. 10 So that is why a woman should have her head covered with something that shows she is under authority. Also, she should do this because of the angels. 11 But in the Lord the woman needs the man, and the man needs the woman. 12 This is true because woman came from man, but also man is born from woman. Really, everything comes from God. 13 Decide this for yourselves: Is it right for a woman to pray to God without something on her head? 14 Even nature itself teaches you that wearing long hair is shameful for a man. 15 But wearing long hair is a woman’s honor. Long hair is given to the woman to cover her head. 16 Some people may still want to argue about this. But we and the churches of God don’t accept what those people are doing. - 1 Corinthians 11 vs 1 - 16 Counter to that laid down in the Gospels by the one whom Paul claims here is the authority over him, Paul seems to declare that he, Paul, opposes the ideas set down by Jesus Christ in regards to ● Jesus Christ's ruling that He alone is the only authority over even the women in His flock ● Jesus Christ's ruling that all men and women are governed by the same rules in the Kingdom of God. 8 “But you must not be called ‘Teacher.’ You are all equal as brothers and sisters. You have only one Teacher. 9 And don’t call anyone on earth ‘Father.’ You have one Father. He is in heaven. 10 And you should not be called ‘Master.’ You have only one Master, the Messiah. 11 Whoever serves you like a servant is the greatest among you. 12 People who think they are better than others will be made humble. But people who humble themselves will be made great. - Matthew 23 vs 8 - 12 ● Jesus Christ's ruling that marriages are of the world of men and not of the Kingdom of God 34 Jesus said to the Sadducees, “On earth, people marry each other. 35 Some people will be worthy to be raised from death and live again after this life. In that life they will not marry. [b]36 In that life people are like angels and cannot die. They are children of God, because they have been raised from death. - Luke 20 vs 34 - 35 ● Jesus Christ's ruling that honor comes to both men and women in His flock only through their continuous submission and obedience to His teachings and commandments. 23 Jesus answered, “All who love me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them. My Father and I will come to them and live with them. 24 But anyone who does not love me does not obey my teaching. This teaching that you hear is not mine. It is from my Father who sent me. - John 14 vs 23 - 24 Whoever wrote this portion of the letter — Paul is assumed the writer of course—, did not agree with much of what Jesus Christ taught in His Gospel regarding these things. To add to it, the writer even went as far as to add his own rules to suggest that he has authority given him to add or change God's very own Law as he sees fit. |

unitypeace: ■ This verse has been misinterpreted to mean that any woman who bears a child is automatically saved by........Find answers. www.beforegodanswer.com This is another one of Paul's many opinions that directly contradicts the Truth of Jesus Christ. Below is what is supposedly written in Paul's letter to Timothy during the last days of God's final judgment against the Nation of Israel(and Judah) in the Land of Canaan. 8 I want the men everywhere to pray. Men who lift their hands in prayer must be devoted to God and pleasing to him. They must be men who keep themselves from getting angry and having arguments. 9 And I want the women to make themselves attractive in the right way. Their clothes should be sensible and appropriate. They should not draw attention to themselves with fancy hairstyles or gold jewelry or pearls or expensive clothes. 10 But they should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. That is more appropriate for women who say they are devoted to God. 11 A woman should learn while listening quietly and being completely willing to obey. 12 I don’t allow a woman to teach a man or tell him what to do. She must listen quietly, 13 because Adam was made first. Eve was made later. 14 Also, Adam was not the one who was tricked. It was the woman who was tricked and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved in their work of having children. They will be saved if they continue to live in faith, love, and holiness with sensible behavior. - 1 Timothy 2 vs 8 - 15 And this is what Jesus Christ said of women in Jerusalem during in the same period. 27 A large crowd followed Jesus. Some of the women were sad and crying. They felt sorry for him. 28 But Jesus turned and said to the women, “Women of Jerusalem, don’t cry for me. Cry for yourselves and for your children too. 29 The time is coming when people will say, ‘The women who cannot have babies are the ones God has blessed. It’s really a blessing that they have no children to care for.’ 30 Then the people will say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ They will say to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ 31 If this can happen to someone who is good, what will happen to those who are guilty?” - Luke 23 vs 27 - 31 As you can see, clearly, something amiss as far as some of the claims contained in the letters attributed to the person of Paul. |

politicoNG: Citing Yul’s filing, May’s lawyer detailed how the actor denied his marriage to Judy. He said Yul wrote, “That since the news of the birth of Star in June 2021, Gistlover, as a negative blog that thrives in fake and manipulated information for financial gains, has been negatively exploiting every movie or skit featuring me and Judy and generating social media traffic for financial gains.” He said May’s initial petition highlighted an alleged traditional marriage ceremony between Yul and Judy on April 24, 2022, in Anambra State, as reported by Gistlover. In response, Yul categorically denied the claim, attributing it to Gistlover blog’s promotion of false information for financial benefit. Yul and Judy deny the traditional marriage ceremony mentioned in May’s petition, insisting that it was a fabricated story fuelled by the blog’s penchant for fake news. However, May’s lawyer noted that what was described as a skit-making relationship has produced two children and is about to get the third one. So, Judy is a baby mama, and May's husband is busy committing adultery in his marriage to her after all? That makes it even easier for May's lawyer then. |

▶ Zephaniah's warning and message were directed at the people of Judah, particularly those in Jerusalem who were to shepherd His people. The warning highlights not just what would happen to them in the case that God judged them but also what God's plan is after that. 1. Jerusalem, your people fought against God. They hurt other people, and you have been stained with sin. 2 They didn’t listen to me or accept my teachings. Jerusalem didn’t trust the Lord. Jerusalem didn’t go to her God. 3 Jerusalem’s leaders are like roaring lions. Her judges are like hungry wolves that come in the evening to attack the sheep—and in the morning nothing is left. 4 Her prophets are always making secret plans to get more and more. Her priests have treated holy things as if they were not holy. They have done bad things to God’s teachings. 5 But the Lord is still in that city, and he continues to be good. He does not do anything wrong. He continues to help his people. Morning after morning he makes good decisions for them. Not a day passes without his justice. He never gives a decision that is crooked or is something to be ashamed of. 6 The Lord says, “I have destroyed whole nations and their defense towers. I destroyed their streets and now no one goes there anymore. Their cities are empty—no one lives there anymore. 7 I tell you this so that you will learn a lesson. I want you to fear and respect me. If you do this, your home will not be destroyed, and I will not have to punish you the way I planned.” But those evil people only wanted to do more of the same evil things they had already done! 8 The Lord said, “So just wait! Wait for me to stand and judge you. I have the right to bring people from many nations and use them to punish you. I will use them to show my anger against you. I will use them to show how upset I am—and the whole country will be destroyed. 9 Then I will change people from other nations so that they can speak the language clearly and call out the name of the Lord. They will all worship me together, shoulder to shoulder, as one people. 10 People will come all the way from the other side of the river in Ethiopia. My scattered people will come to me. My worshipers will come and bring their gifts to me. 11 “Then, Jerusalem, you will no longer be ashamed of the wrong things your people do against me. That is because I will remove all the bad people from Jerusalem. I will take away all the proud people. There will not be any of them on my holy mountain. 12 I will let only meek and humble people stay in my city, and they will trust the Lord’s name. 13 The survivors of Israel will not do bad things or tell lies. They will not try to trick people with lies. They will be like sheep that eat and lie down in peace—and no one will bother them.” - Zephaniah 3 vs 1 - 13 As God proclaimed even from the time of Isaiah, after the judgment, He will gather back His Scattered people, all of them sons and daughters of Israel back to His Jerusalem - Isaiah 66 vs 18 - 21 - and at that time, not only will Jerusalem be holy again but the people will no longer do evil against their God. |

▶ This prophesy spoken by Micah reiterates the earlier prophecy spoken by Isaiah of the very same Last Days of God's judgment against the Nation of Israel(and Judah) in the Land of Canaan. 1. In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s Temple will be on the highest of all mountains. It will be raised higher than the hills. There will be a steady stream of people going there. 2 People from many nations will go there and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way of living, and we will follow him.” His teaching, the Lord’s message, will begin in Jerusalem on Mount Zion and will go out to all the world. 3 Then God will act as a judge to end arguments between people in many places. He will decide what is right for great nations far and near. They will stop using their weapons for war. They will hammer their swords into plows and use their spears to make tools for harvesting. All fighting between nations will end. They will never again train for war. 4 They will sit under their own grapevine and fig tree. No one will make them afraid. That is because the Lord All-Powerful said it would happen like that. 5 All the people from other nations follow their gods, but we will follow the Lord our God forever and ever! - Micah 4 vs 1 - 5 This judgment came upon the people of Judah and spread through to all the nations in the land of Canaan at the time, as well as the occupying forces - the nations were destroyed. History tells us that one of the last of the nations that occupied the region at the time of to fall was the Roman Empire. It too fell nonetheless, as prophesied. |

▶ God's message in Isaiah 2 concerns the Family of Jacob, particularly towards the Nation of Judah which is known as Zion and the city of Jerusalem was located in at the time. 1 Isaiah son of Amoz received this message about Judah and Jerusalem. 2 In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s Temple will be the highest of all mountains. It will be raised higher than the hills. There will be a steady stream of people from all nations going there. 3 People from many places will go there and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way of living, and we will follow him.” His teaching, the Lord’s message, will begin in Jerusalem on Mount Zion and will go out to all the world. 4 Then God will act as judge to end arguments between nations. He will decide what is right for people from many lands. They will stop using their weapons for war. They will hammer their swords into plows and use their spears to make tools for harvesting. All fighting between nations will end. They will never again train for war. 5 Family of Jacob, let us follow the Lord. 6 Family of Jacob, you have abandoned your people. This is clear because they have been filled with bad influences from the East,[a] and now your people try to tell the future like the Philistines. They have completely accepted those strange ideas. 7 Jacob’s land has been filled with silver and gold from other places. There are many treasures there. His land has been filled with horses and many chariots. 8 His land is full of gods that the people bow down to worship. They made those idols themselves. 9 The people have become worse and worse. They have become very low, and you leaders did nothing to lift them up! - Isaiah 2 vs 1 - 9 The above prophecy was brought to a close about 1900 years ago. Jerusalem which was previously destroyed when the Nation of Judah was taken into captivity about 500 years before, was rebuilt and people from all over the nations, including those scattered out after the Nation of Israel was destroyed by the Assyrians, went back to worship in Jerusalem again. During that time, Jesus Christ, God's Message arrived in the country and was spread across the Nations. In that very same generation, just as Jesus Christ said, God judged the people of Israel(including Judah) and all the nations that surrounded them according to His decree in the Law of Moses - Deuteronomy 28 vs 15 - 57 and Leviticus 26 vs 12 - 45. Many nations were destroyed and left incapable of warring or making weapons of war since then — they ceased to exist, thanks to God's judgment against them and their soldiers turned to slaves and farmers. |

Tecnom3: ■ In 1 Cor, when Paul is laying out the the tradition of the resurrection to his readers, he lays out a tradition with his own testimony at the end. 1Cr 15:3-8 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. . There is an obvious problem with the claim that Paul said in that passage of him supposedly being the last that Jesus Christ appeared to be. 3 I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important truths: that Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say; 4 that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say; 5 and that he appeared to Peter and then to the twelve apostles. 6 After that Christ appeared to more than 500 other believers at the same time. Most of them are still living today, but some have died. 7 Then he appeared to James and later to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, he appeared to me. I was different, like a baby born before the normal time. - 1 Corinthians 15 vs 3 - 8 Jesus Christ in His Gospel proclaimed that all the people in the the land at the time would see Him coming in the glory in that same generation that his disciples lived in. The passage below is one of 3 found in the Gospels which illustrates what the people of the time must have seen(by way of dreams or visions, thanks to the spirit of God poured out on those in the land at that time- Joel 2 vs 28 - 31). 26 “Someone might tell you, ‘The Messiah is there in the desert!’ But don’t go into the desert to look for him. Someone else might say, ‘There is the Messiah in that room!’ But don’t believe it. 27 When the Son of Man comes, everyone will see him. It will be like lightning flashing in the sky that can be seen everywhere. 28 It’s like looking for a dead body: You will find it where the vultures are gathering above. 29 “Right after the trouble of those days, this will happen: ‘The sun will become dark, and the moon will not give light. The stars will fall from the sky, and everything in the sky will be changed.’ 30 “Then there will be something in the sky that shows the Son of Man is coming. All the people of the world will cry. Everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds in the sky. He will come with power and great glory. 31 He will use a loud trumpet to send his angels all around the earth. They will gather his chosen people from every part of the earth. - Matthew 24 vs 26 - 31 He revealed that the coming of His Kingdom— the nationwide/Israel-wide ushering in of the New Covenant— would happen before the end of the Last Days of God's judgment against the Nation of Israel(and Judah). So, when Paul suggests that Jesus Christ was revealed to only a select few, he is seriously mistaken. |

Themed “Building a Model Christian Home”, the 2024 Mothering Sunday service, which held at the Anglican Church of Redemption, Awka, Anambra State, was heralded by a one-day interactive seminar, where the women were enlightened on Tips for Healthy Relationship Between Wife, Husband and Mother-in-Law. Truly, Christianity for the majority followers is a life lived in bondage. These women are under some impression that their mothering day celebrations have something to do with od of Israel and His Son, Jesus Christ, in ignorance. And this is what Jesus Christ said of women in Jerusalem during in the same period. 27 A large crowd followed Jesus. Some of the women were sad and crying. They felt sorry for him. 28 But Jesus turned and said to the women, “Women of Jerusalem, don’t cry for me. maureensylvia: ■ There's definitely a difference between submitting to God's will and abandoning the ability to reason or think critically. The Bible encourages us to use our minds to understand God's Word (2 Timothy 2:7) and to test all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21). So while we should submit to God's authority, we should also use our minds to understand and apply His Word. ■ I believe that the Holy Spirit helps us to interpret and understand Scripture, but He doesn't do this in a way that bypasses our ability to think critically. The Holy Spirit works with our minds to help us understand God's Word. So I'm not suggesting that we should abandon our reasoning or our ability to use logic. Rather, I'm suggesting that the Holy Spirit works with our reasoning and logic to help us understand ■ I think it's important to distinguish between what God has directly revealed in Scripture, and what people have interpreted from Scripture over the years. As you mentioned, God is the ultimate authority, and His Word is what we should base our beliefs on. So let's look at what Scripture actually says about faith, trust, hope, and mystery. I’ll recap my previous quote, in Hebrews 11:1, we're told that "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." So faith is about trusting in things we can't see or know for certain. 1. So do you then agree that your initial claim which is that Scripture is somehow meant to be "interpreted" through what you claim is the lens of faith and is not always logical is not based on Scripture but an idea foreign to Scripture? 2. Can you please provide Scriptural evidence for where the God of Israel or His Son, Jesus Christ, stated that the Holy Spirit would help us to interpret Scripture? (Scripture is already presented to us in human language and ready to be understood as is written, so I am lost as to why further interpretation is necessary.) I ask because that is another claim I have yet to come upon in Scripture, and I have searched. Jesus Christ instead said that the Holy Spirit — the Spirit of Truth— would reveal that which is hidden, but Jesus Christ never said that the Holy Spirit would help us interpret Scripture. So, please help me out with Scriptural backing for this other Christian ritual you hold to. 3. I wholly agree that all should be judged by the standard that is the Word of God. But I fail to understand why you repeatedly quote from the letter to the Hebrews, an opinion piece — the writer did not in any way assert that this opinion of his comes from the mouth of God so why insist that we accept it as though it is of God.
To understand faith, hope, mystery, and trust it is vital, as you said, to go back to God, who again, is the author and finisher of our faith. I like God's explanation of faith which He gave to Isaac while explaining how He justified Abraham. As we all know, Abraham was justified by faith, and the components of Abraham's faith are made bare in Genesis 26 by God Himself. 2 The Lord spoke to Isaac and said, “Don’t go down to Egypt. Live in the land that I commanded you to live in. 3 Stay in this land, and I will be with you. I will bless you. I will give you and your family all these lands. I will do what I promised to Abraham your father. 4 I will make your family as many as the stars of heaven, and I will give all these lands to your family. Through your descendants[a] every nation on earth will be blessed. 5 I will do this because your father Abraham obeyed my words and did what I said. He obeyed my commands, my laws, and my rules.” - Genesis 26 vs 2 - 5 Right there we see what Abraham's faith was all about— made up of. Abraham not only trusted God — He abandoned the idols of His fathers for a God He did not know— but He also obeyed God's every teaching and commandment given Him by this God— Abraham's faith — and for this he, Abraham, was justified. (God didn't suggest that Abraham obeyed Him one time; no, Abraham lived his life in continuous obedience to Gods commandments and statutes and it was for this that he, Abraham, was then justified by God.) If you ask me, this is the best explanation in all of that book of what faith is about. It sheds a whole different light on the opinion expressed in Hebrews 11 vs 1 - 2 by the writer of the letter to the Hebrews. God's very own explanation beats, hands down, all the numerous interpretations that flow regularly from churchian pulpits every week, including the mouths of those from other religions. Why? Because God's explanation makes absolute Scriptural sense. It explains why God's mandate of obedience to His teachings and commandments.
Can you see how very different what God says is from what men and their many interpretations assert? |

OFunke24: ■ If I as a woman marries a man that is the same age as the firstborn son of the family, do I still need to listen to the firstborn when he tells me to serve food and wash his plates etc during the holidays when we come together as a family if my husband is not around? Would it not be putting my husband down in his absence if I obey to do those things? ■ I am not so great with social settings especially one to do with power struggles. I grew up doing a lot of things in the house before my older ones stepped up to do anything at all and I find it difficult to see them as my seniors. So, do you do this for the firstborn because you wish to or because you are slave to him or something? 2. Liberate yourself before you start considering marriage to anyone or else you may end up even more miserable than you are right now if you don't. Spend a couple of weeks at your local library reading books on healthy ways to socialize and engage others in relationships. You are never too old to learn new things and ways of doing things. |

achorladey: ■ Now you decide to mix up the main point of the thread by bringing BLIND. You know what blind means and even when we deal with blindness since you decided to go in that direction, there are varying degrees of blindness too. Close minded not willing to consider different ideas or opinions Blind made or done without sight of certain objects or knowledge of certain facts that could serve for guidance or cause bias. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." You cannot take the position to know enough what are the grey areas of Jesus mercies between black sinners and white righteous Right here you are doing exactly what I said Christians are notorious for! You reject that which of Jesus Christ Himself declared as rule over those who are of the Kingdom of God — He never said there was any varying deny of blindness or closemindedness to be had — to instead assert your own opinion/will above His. Voila! He said there are no varying degrees of blindness just as there are no varying degrees of Holiness — you either are or you are not, simple! But no, you would rather have it your way and cook up various unscriptural excuses too. Amazing! Before you bounce to respond, recall my original statement. Kobojunkie: Christians notoriously lack what you call an openmind towards Scripture. Rather, what those you describe tend to develop is a compartmentalized interpretation/approach to dissecting the content of Scripture different from regular reasoning. This has always been about their view of Scriptural content. |
