Marjoribanks: Bassey needs someone as calm as Tosin Adarabioyo in defense to bring the best out of him. Unfortunately, we don't have that! Ajayi is too slow for African football!
I would go with Awaziem and Bassey. Of course, they would make mistakes just like the young Omeruo and Obaboona at AFCON 2013 but with time the would become a phenomenal partnership. Not lacking in intelligence, pace and brawl. Omeruo and Oboboana did not make any mistake during Afcon 2013,they are ready and reason why Nigeria won the cup.I just hope Bassey and any partner are ready, not a tournament for mistakes or else we are out. |

Dessers is one of Rangers worst player Akor hasn't scored in almost 2 months Orban has no league goals in 3 months Akpom unfamiliar with African football Moffi has not been impressive in the SE jersey. He always look out of place on the field!
Paserio made the right choice in attack. Asper Nwakali, I agree with you! Sir,Peseiro just picked players he knew very well...pls what is Sadiq doing in the team if we want to base it on form.Yes on Iheanacho I agreed with you but if he is not fit better to take another player |

I want Aina to play the LB position While bright Osayi in RB
But Na Jp anything can happen we might just see 4-4-2 Osayi and Aina starting will assist our midfield and gives us real build up from the back. |

komekn: I would disagree.
I will be very BRUTAL, he plays like an aboki, no football ⚽ intelligence and very limited technical ability.
Plenty of running and stamina but almost no end product. Aina is not a LB but has far more football intelligence technical ability and end 🔚 PRODUCT. In this regard Aina is better, don't know much about Bruno apart from doesn't seem to be getting much game time and is not first choice.
Why is he selected for the SE 🤔 I don't see reason why Osayi and Aina should not start as RB and LB cuz the natural left footers Zaidu and Bruno are not better.....a real tactician would have included Ebuehi and drop one of Zaidu and Bruno cuz Ebuehi can also do it as RB and LB, |

MetalJigsaw: The number 19 jersey was a very insignificant number in the history of Nigeria Super Eagles until a certain unknown young man came out of nowhere and in a very short time, wrote his name in the history books forever..
His name, SUNDAY MBA
Before the 2013 AFCON, only a few knew the name Sunday Mba, and even those who did never cared much about him as he was a local league player picked to compete against an array of European stars in the Super Eagles of Nigeria team
Unlike the case today, late Stephen Keshi was bold enough to pick 6 home-based players as part of his 23-man squad for AFCON2013. Many believed the local league players would end up as bench warmers, but at the end of the tournament, the name the whole world was singing was Sunday Mba; the Warri Wolves player.
As many expected, Mba and other home-based players were benched in the first 2 group games. Only Oboabona got to play in defense. However, on the last group game which was a must-win game against Ethiopia, Stephen Keshi did the unthinkable; he dropped Nosa Igiebor of Real Betis and started Sunday Mba.
Mba didn't get to score against Ethiopia, but he did enough to convince the coach that he deserved to start in the Quarter final against almighty Ivory Coast.
With the likes of Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Gervinho, Kalou, Zokora, Eboue and even Kolo Toure in the Ivorian side, nobody gave the Super Eagles a chance. There were even rumours that Nigerian officials had already booked return flight tickets for the players before the game.
In the 43rd minute, Emenike pulled a shocker and with a smashing bullet freekick, he put Nigeria ahead. 7 minutes later, Tiote equalized with a header. The whole world expected the next goal to come from the Ivorians, and Drogba precisely. But destiny had something else planned out.
That was when the Sunday Mba clock ticked....
He picked the ball from the center of the field, pushed it forward, beat one, dribbled two, and from the edge of the box, unleashed a rocket that flew into the back of the net. That goal announced the local player to the international media. Mba would go ahead to score the lone goal in the final which would hand Nigeria her 3rd AFCON title.
📌FROM GRASS TO GRASS: The AFCON heroics made Mba one of the most sort after player by many European teams. Unbelievably, Mba ended up signing for a third tier club in France; CA Bastia. HOW?
Due to greed and politics, everyone wanted to have a share of Mba's cake. His club, Warri Wolves and his former team Enugu Rangers got into a war of ownership of the player and this lasted for over 7 months.
All the European teams that wanted Mba got tired of waiting for the issue to be resolved and pulled out of the race. The only team left was the third tier club.
With the 2014 FIFA World Cup approaching, Mba needed to start playing regularly so as to be picked for the world cup. He was forced to sign for CA Bastia and that was the beginning of his end...
Mba's stats for Nigeria are... 📌Debut: 2012 📌Appearances: 22 📌Goals: 7 📌Assists: 0 📌Trophies: 1 (AFCON 2013) 📌Duration with Super: 2 years (2012/2013)
Sadly, today, Mba is just 33 years old, but has been without a club since 2017. He literally retired from active football at the age of 27.
You can watch the best of Sunday MBA in my next post.. Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers killed Mba career due to greed. |

Papi85: many players couldn’t cut it in the youth team of big clubs but later became world class players later on in their career
A good and recent example is Rice who was released by Chelsea, joined Westham and today is one of the best CDM’s in the world playing for Arsenal
Making it from the youth team of a big team to their first team doesn’t mean that others who weren’t good enough to make the cut won’t progress in their careers later on
Olise had a slow start as a youth player but today among the best RWs in the EPL
You hv your reason for preferring Saka while I hv mine for choosing Olise Yes I know you preferred Olise and I rate Olise highly too. I got your point of view but your analytical thinking on (IF)Saka in Crystal Palace showed total disrespect to a 22 years old with 32 caps and 11 goals. |

Papi85: Oga Olise is better abeg, very similar to Mahrez. Saka is too direct and boring to watch
Carry Saka go Palace if dem no convert am to LB mk I knw wetin cause am🤣🤣🤣🤣
You will see the best of Olise if he joins a big team. That boy is good
Saka is just left footed Jack Grealish 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Olise was a youth player at Chelsea,Man city and Arsena but could not cut it. Saka from Arsenal youth team straight to main team and made England national team as a regular,at 22 he already had 32 caps with 11 goals....Olise at 22 yet to be capped either by England or France....the two nations don't joke with talent. Saka is too big for Crystal Palace, maybe in his 30s he will play for Palace as a pensioner. Lets see Olise in big team first then we compare but for now Saka is far ahead in all ramifications. |

Saka wey be definition of total football...if one no sabi the game one will not rate Saka.He does it with ease,32 caps,11goals at 22 years of age....yes Olise is good but guess what Saka understand the game just like Alaba, only third eyes will understand. |

ChrisKels: That is where you guys get it wrong. To them, it is not about the playing time, it is rather about the badge and the honour that comes with the tag "a 3lion player or an ex of it". They don't care if what they get is just a minute in a friendly match.
They are so passionate about the badge, so you guys should rest because Tammy and Tomori are already satisfied with the little opportunities they have gotten. They would rather those few minutes with england in the euro league than world cup appearances with an African team.
North Africans find it a bit easier to get their boys from Europe because of their Arabic/Islamic belief. 5 stars.👍 |

Napoleon55: With the absence of Ndidi, our chances just got dropped significantly.
Ndidi's absence will be felt,it also comes with it an opportunity for us to find out suitable back ups for Ndidi for our WC qualifying games.
This whole AFON would serve us well as a preparatory exercise for future matches given PJ's lacking in charisma and what it takes to win the trophy itself.
However all hope cannot be lost when it comes to Nigerian spirit in occasion like this. SE has proven everyone wrong before, let's just hope this time is one of them.
Personally, if I'm being realistic, is 50-50 chance for us. If Onyedika and Onyeka cannot do the job in Afcon then we are overrated as a team. |

Tinneh: If ndidi is out and this coach insists on his ancient 4-4-2 formation, then we are headed for doom because there's no way we won't be overun in midfield. This is me being realistic here A second round exit at best Oga Zambia lost a whole squad to plane crash with exceptional of Kalusha Bwalya and made it to Afcon final. Keshi took out Ogude and Igiebor, brought in Onazi and Mba and we had a team to beat in 2013 Afcon. Truly missing Ndidi or Iheanacho would affect the team but a good tactical coach should have his way. |

That's why I will prefer he travel to Europe to at least understudy one or two elite managers prior he is allowed to manage the super eagles Aliou Cisse say hi...pls enough of this understudy elite managers in Europe before one can takes eagles job. Aliou Cisse won Afcon and has been Senegal coach since 2015.Ringobert Song took Cameroon to last world cup and Walid Regragui took Morocco to WC semi final.
