I pray Ezenwa gets injured in our game against England, then we can see Uzoho in the World Cup, since that is what will convince some people.

Is it not luck that pushed Ezenwa to number one? If we will only give players a chance when misfortune falls on some others, then let misfortune fall on who it needs to fall on to help the team progress.

Kini? undecided
Kai safari,no need for that prayer. In the next 5 months a lot to would be exposed and we will know who is who regards goalkeepers.

I watched Algeria match again yesterday and I will not deceive you Ezenwa needs to work hard to be number one.

Lol at all those 4 goals comparisons. You can also add Courtois in a recent EPL game.

Sir, all games are not the same.

Now, almost everyone has been saying the defence let Ajiboye down. What if I say Ajiboye failed to organize his defense?

Seems Ajiboye was more interested in making saves than organizing his defense to prevent opposing strikers from having point blank shots. Same thing happened against Sudan. Ajiboye was static, rooted to his goal line for most of the game. And the CBs defended too deep.

Goalkeepers frown and bark at the defenders when ever they are exposed to make point blank saves. It is the duty of the goalie to organize the defence so as to prevent that from happening. Keepers make saves when they have no choice
Sir organise what defence, the same defence that Started crumbling from quarter final, thank to Ezenwa against Angola and Ajiboye against Sudan.

Sir what make Morocco match different from our match against Ghana during WAFU or our friendly against Ghana in London.

Are you now saying Ajiboye did not organized the defence and Ezenwa organized his defence against Ghana and still conceded four goals and Enyeama too organized his defence very well and conceded four goals

Sir Ajiboye rooted on the line, may be we watched different match and this is the first time am hearing this,Ajiboye that suffered for whole 90 minutes non stop.

Sir not compulsory for Ajiboye to be at The WC cos his chances of making it is very slim but i don't think Ezenwa is better than him with what i saw from both keepers,my opinion.

So how do you know he is up to the task when he has not played a high pressure and high stake game? This is why Rohr now rates Ezenwa highly, the points he scored in the high pressure and high stakes games of the WC qualifiers.

Ajiboye after the Sudan game(CHAN) was hailed all over the country. But when he came under pressure against Morocco, he reminded us he is an NPFL goalkeeper.

The big name keepers you have also mentioned at 19 were not on the same pedestal Uzoho is today. They were already ahead.

Thank God you keep remembering that he is a kid.
Sir on Ajiboye against Morocco i beg to differ, are you saying Ezenwa would stop those goals cos i remember the same Ezenwa bow to pressure against Ghana and conceded 4 goals.

Mind you i rate Ezenwa ahead just cos of his experience in eagles, apart from that Ajiboye is better, pls go and watch those saves against Sudan,it takes extremely talented keeper to make those saves.

Pls go and watch Morocco match again, sorry i remember you said you can't watch it again, despite conceding four goals,Ajiboye made saves after saves.

I thought Enyeama conceded four goals against Ghana in Fulham London friendly with very lesser shots at goal compare to 26 shots at goal Ajiboye had against Morocco.

You no longer compare him with the likes of Courtois, casillas and De Gea. It is now about 19 years old African keepers. OK. No wahala.

Pepe was willing to give him a chance. Everything is still "if".

Your last sentence is exactly what he is going to face at the WC . Because the pressure and stakes will be very high from start to finish. Friendlies even are not going to give you such high pressures and stakes. It really takes a matured and experienced goalie or an exceptionally talented active goalie in a top league, to cope when the pressures and stakes are high. Which is why I am saying Rohr should have a rethink about Dele Aiyenugba.
On goalkeeping Rohr mentioned Ezenwa, Uzoho, Akpeyi,Ajiboye and Alampasu in his interview meaning he is willing to pick from these pool of five.

Based on each performance in eagles" s colour

Ezenwa still have it not cos is damn solid but based on his WC qualifiers appearance which showed confidence but not really tested until Algeria match which showed some flaws in his game though relative improved during CHAN especially against Angola but can we say that's enough for WC.

Uzoho had 45 minutes against Argentina and looked calmed especially with his age i thumb him up but that's not enough to rate him cos not really tested, butt hope to see him in friendlies to ascertain his readiness, with his age and exposure can we really trust him

Akpeyi is the most experience lad among the available keepers but his confidence always failed him and always suspect especially in eagles "s colour which put question mark on his ability to be in goalposts at WC.

Ajiboye is a local lad just like Ezenwa but not really in Rohr" s plan but with his performance at CHAN he has forced his way to be considered for selection,he has the confidence and looks solid, his saves against Sudan were top notch but can he be trusted

Alampasu has not really grab the opportunity cos he was among the earlier caller during WC qualifiers but has not get the opportunity like others and his club situation is not really encouraging but for Rohr to mentioned him meaning he can pull a surprise.

If we based it on performance so far

1. Ezenwa

2.Uzoho

3.Ajiboye

4.Akpeyi

5.Alampasu

I think it is high time Rohr give us his number one and end this mystery surrounding our choice of number one.

Bro experience with no quality naa useless experience..even at echiejilile's peak, how many quality crosses did he make..he can't really pass well under pressure..taking echiejiele to the WC is just taking a liability there..I have paid special attention to him and watched his game intrinsically, he is a true liability..

And all the experience campaigners should tell us truly what echie would offer this team!!! Its so unfortunate we have no natural lb other than him..
I keep on saying it hope Rohr get it right

How many African keepers are where Uzoho is at 19?

Pepe was willing to give him a chance in the first team but he was fired and the new coach went back to the fumbling oldies. Now that coach has also been fired.

What we need to find out is whether Uzoho can cut it, when the pressure is high and the stakes are high. There
Uzoho no issue, hope to see more of him in friendlies but Maduka i reserve my comment.

finally, what is the connection between these set of keepers plying their trade in Israel, I mean Enyeama to Ejide and Dele. Not until Enyeama left for France and at some point rumors of Wenger interest in him.
Yes the connection between Enyeama,Ejide and Aiyenugba was great.

The relationship between the trio started in Nigeria,Enyeama met Aiyenugba at Enyimba and the friendship kick off. Also Enyeama met Ejide in the national team prior to 2002 WC and their friendship blossom.

I remember Enyeama met Dele at Enyimba after he left Mobil pegasus.Dele was the first choice and in goal when Enyimba played Inter Milan in a friendly in Italy.

Dele had injury and Enyeama replaced him, fortunately for Enyeama he stood in for injured Dele in a match Fanny Amu was sent to watch to discover players for national team and he was highly impressed with Enyeama.

Enyeama got the call and made 2002 WC,after WC automatically he became Enyimba first choice, displaced Dele but Enyeama didn't forget Dele when he left for Isreal.

In Isreal after a season Enyeama moved to a better club in the same league but singlehandedly recommended Dele Aiyenugba to his former club without trial. This showed a great friendship between the two.

Enyeama and Aiyenugba were instrumental to Ejide moved to Isreal from Et du sahel cos of their friendship in national team and it must be noted that the trio were together in super eagles between 2002 -2012 until Dele lost out to Agbim.

The trio were well connected and the bond was damn great even when Enyeama lost to Ejide at 2008 Afcon the atmosphere in camp didn't changed with Vincent and Dele assisting and also when Siasia dropped Enyeama for Dele Aiyenugba, nothing happened.

Hope to see such great trio in future eagles may be Uzoho, Alampasu and Maduka.

I don't agree at all. Efe has been to the world cup and he is still playing at a highly professional level, there is no way we can be sure that any of the players mentioned are better than him. He plays week in week out like they do and I have not seen anything so special for me to say they are clear cut better than Efe who has done well to prove his doubters wrong since he moved to his current club.
Efe has been to WC?yes, meaning what, criteria for invitation.I disagreed.

Efe still playing at a highly professional level? No.I only remember him at Celtic.

Efe plays week in week out?Yes but where Scottish league with Hibernia.

Efe prove doubters wrong since he moved to Hilbernia?how cos i don't see Hilbernia as a club to rate any player.

The present fullbacks don't have clear cut over Efe?how cos to me they are young and better, doing it in better leagues and their versatility in both flanks say it all.

Efe is good but for now we have better fullbacks and it would be stupid of a good coach to call Efe back with the presence of emerging talents like Ebuhei, Idowu, Aina and Shehu, pls to come and do what?

Efe was a defensive RB when he use to play that position, this limits attacking play cos you can't really use him as an outlet to open any defence up..too be honest he was just ok, nothing special the way he played it..he just helped the defense be more compact..

Shehu/Ebuehi is what a real RB should be doing.
Not Efe when we have versatile fullbacks like Ebuhei,Idowu, Aina and Shehu who can do it as DM even Efe as CB is out of it with Balogun,Ekong, Awaziem, and Omeruo

Well, I haven't watched Austin play recently but if it's still the same Austin Ejide then I will vote for his recall. I had actually enquired about him a few months ago but I was informed that he and Emmanuel Daniel were currently clubless. But is currently playing active football then he deserves a look in. He's head and shoulders above what we currently parade as goalkeepers.

O pari
O pari master, pls can you pinpoint any solid performance from Austin Ejide in eagles colours.

Did you know Akpeyi always remind me of Ejide cos they almost shared the same attributes, shaking in goalposts especially in eagles jersey.

Hope you remember he is an injury prone keeper mostly with muscle tear and difficult for him to have three matches in a row though he had four at 2008 afcon

Did you know injuries contributed to his contract termination and clubless for more than two years but now in division two.

But the big question is Ejide that solid that we can close our eyes on other keepers cos in Isreali league Dele Aiyenugba is far rated than him.

I think better for Rohr to take inactive fit Enyeama over just two months active Ejide.

Uzoho takes my vote in upcoming friendlies.

From Rohr's comments, Enyeama and Alampasu are out of the world cup as a result of their inactivity.
That's my question but it seems Enyeama is not even keen cos Colins Udoh and Peterside Idah said Enyeama is not coming back sometimes ago.

My question, what does Rohr mean by INACTIVITY?is he saying a keeper in main team and not commanding starting shirt is inactive and not better than youth keeper keeping in division three or four.

I think if we want to go by activity then Akpeyi is sure banker for WC even Ezenwa is always in and out but thanks to WC qualifiers appearance,Uzoho too is very active but in youth league, Ajiboye too very active but not in Rohr's plan,Maduka active in regional league.

I just hope Rohr get it right cos with this condition of activity i expect Aiyenugba too in camp cos is the most active Nigeria keeper in Europe unless Rohr doesn't know he exists.

Is Omeruo better than Efe Ambrose I simply do not know, is Balogun and Ekong better I do not know.

What I do know that if not for work permit issues Efe would be playing in the EPL. The most expensive defender in the World a few seasons ago was playing in the Scottish premiership.

How good is Efe I do not know because we have not tested him recently. He may have improved or indeed diminished in his abilities.

I think he at least deserves to be called as well as Obagoal to ascertain thier current level of performance. Otherwise anything said is speculative and if in the negative bad belle.
Well you said 'I do not know' I think as CB some years ago Omeruo was better than Efe.

Omeruo is the least rated CB after Agbo in eagles presently but i don't see Efe Ambrose beating him to it then to talk of Balogun and Ekong.

I still rate Omeruo ahead of Ambrose.

Russia 2018 World Cup, the Nigerian Soccer Project & Goalkeeping Brouhaha.

It is exactly 112 days to the inaugural match in Russia 2018 soccer fiesta. Also, only 30 days to Super Eagles’ top grade cracker with Lewandoski’s Poland.

The global football family is in a frenzy right now awaiting the WC event billed to be a classic & its first ever in the old eastern bloc.

The Fifa world event has recorded only Eight (cool World Cup Winners from its inception in 1930.

Would there be a new WINNER in Russia? Can the African continent produce its first Winner? In football, they say, anything is possible..

Preparations are in top gear & final stages for all 32 participants jostling to present their best teams, only one Nation will be crowned King on Sunday, July 15, 2018.
Super Eagles are Nigeria’s representatives & ambassadors to the Mundial. Expectations are very high! How far can the Super Eagles go?

The football world expects another inconsistent & dismal outing from Nigeria.
Foreign media, top foreign analysts & Coaches have been saying so with skeptical glee.

They don’t expect much. It has been like that in our five (5) previous participations, so they are right to hold such awful views.
However, things can change, Nigeria fans know so well that the current team is loaded & a good contender for title at the finals.

This team has the potential to grind out positive results!

The NFF & Sports Ministry have worked very hard & are still doing so.

The Coaching crew must live up to expectations of their fans by ensuring a top class performance, & also a finish in quality & style.

One area that seems so problematic is in GOALKEEPING.

This is the crux; this will either make or mar Nigeria’s chances of achieving its WC goals.
Carl Ikweme was good until poor health condition claimed him.

This forced Manager Gernot Rohr to reconsider clubless Vincent Enyeama, insisting on including him in his final team selection. Nigerians are getting jittery, recalling history of similar past occurrences & blunders that left a sour taste in our mouths.

You can’t blame the Gaffer, though.
The array of Nigerian shot stoppers used so far in matches have failed to match expected standards & far below what the mundial requires for serious contenders. We are not going for a jamboree.

From woeful Apkeyi, Ezenwa, Alampasu, Ajiboye, et al, none have lived up to the billing.

They have posted abysmally between the sticks for Nigeria. (Apologies).
So, there is a problem.

Young Uzohor was good against Argentina. He is very talented, but lacks experience & quality game time at his Spanish division 2 club.

Who wants to take a chance? No, not at the World Cup where you are supposed to be a Cup contender.

Our search threw us back to AUSTIN EJIDE, 33years old, Hapoel Hadera Fc, Israel.
Ejide’s football exploit is no news to Nigerians, (You can Google that).

The keeper was deputy to Vincent Enyeama from 2002 -2014.

What is primary right now is for the Super Eagles to have a quality representation in goalpost, & Austin Ejide looks that guy every inch & bit – all the way.

Ejide has all the features of a World Class GoalKeeper: he is tall, talented, strong & athletic. He has sharp reflexes & parades loads of international experience.

He is agile, has excellent grip on the ball, deals well wit crosses, difficult to beat on one-one situation, organizes his defenses very well, very confident, inspiring and commanding. He can stop penalties too.

This is the type of goalkeeper you want to have behind ur defenders.

See his current videos on YouTube channel to be convinced.

This AUSTIN is Our Man!

He is the SOLUTION to Super Eagles Goalkeeping problems.
Coach Rohr, look no further!

If he has committed any wrong doings against the NFF he should be pardoned.

Against this background, baring injury, Coach Gernot Rohr should make haste to recall Austin to his team ahead of Poland & Serb grade A friendly games for proper assessment, as a well deserved chance for the Super Eagles No.1 spot.

I think with this consideration, the other young and upcoming keepers can join to compete & increase the options for available 3 spots.

Some of the suggested names should include Uzohor, Maduka Okoye, Nwokolor, and Ezenwa.

No sentiments attached; only the best should be engaged.
Good luck!

- Kingmaker, Compltesports fan
Kai is it another Ejide or the same Austin Ejide, wahala dey o,this guy was clubless just got a club in Isreal and funny enough division two and we have another experience keeper in Dele Aiyenugba doing it for many years in Isreali top league even till dates, but nobody reckon with him.

The only advantage Ejide had over Aiyenugba is height, nothing more better to throw in Francis Uzoho than recalling Ejide cos throughout his career in eagles he wasn't convincing enough to warrant all these accolades.

I think his agent is working hard for him to be included in WC team.

Where are the other options? Trust me, if Akpeyi was doing well, the coach will not be looking for children to fill the role.

Maduka Okoye is 18 years and is playing for the B team of Fortuna Dusseldorf. That is normal for that age. If Maduka plays one or two good friendlies, he can easily be on the way to the world cup even as a number 3.

By the way Maduka kept a clean sheet last weekend.
My man am not against inclusion of Maduka and my stand on goalkeeping is simple, the best should be taken since the likes of Akpeyi are not convincing enough.

I watched Uzoho against Girona and i came out here that the guy is okay and against Argentina he looked calmed and composed, his performance gave us another option.

If you read my comment with Truidster,he said likely Uzoho, Ezenwa, Akpeyi and I said you cannot say, meaning the likes the of Maduka or Alampasu can come in and gives solid performance just like Uzoho against Argentina.

My major concerns is this, none of us here know who is Maduka until his name came up and initially i thought he was number one for Fortuna Dusseldorf but later realised keeping for team B in regional league equivalent of division 4 which is not better than NPFL.

I need to have my reservation and need to continue asking why considering division 4 keeper for Eagles.I remember may be last week you came out with his stats this season, having 15 games and had just two clean sheets,i remember you said may be the defence wasn't good enough, excuse for his performance.

Truly is 18 years old,but you keep on hammering at 18 good for his development which i agreed but forgetting that exceptional keeper at 18 are already with the main team, just check Uzoho if not for the sacked of coach that gave him first team appearance, the guy would be up there doing it in LA liga.

My major point is Maduka good enough for Super eagles if is not good enough for very average Fortuna Dusseldorf first team, the same Maduka was released by Karlsruhe and Leverkusen before he continue his development with Dusseldorf though it happens in football.

I want the best for Eagles and only way is to look at things critically in a balance mode not just being carried away with sentiments,so my critique of Maduka is not hate but love for eagles cos a division four keeper for Eagles then he must be extremely talented and if he comes out good, better for the team but i didn't buy idea that at least is good as number three,No o all our keepers must have potential to be in goal at WC with our mind at rest.

Rohr Says He Won't Take Enyeama To The World Cup Because Of Winston Bogarde Status
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has finally ruled out the possibility of including Lille netminder Vincent Enyeama on his 23-player roster for the 2018 World Cup.

The German pointed out that the veteran goalkeeper has been inactive for his French club since the start of this season, a similar status former Netherlands international Winston Bogarde found himself in the last two years of his career at Chelsea.

''He is not playing anywhere, so we cannot take players who are not playing,'' Rohr told reporters at the Aiteo/Nigeria Football Federation Awards on Monday.

''We are working hard to have the best of our legs taken to Russia and we don’t have the luxury of naming a player that has not been playing in recent time.

''Each time we have a problem, there is always a good answer and I hope it will be the same for the World Cup.

''We currently have so many players in camp and we want to continue monitoring them. The most important thing is for them to be in best shape for the Mundial.''

Enyeama last played for the first team of Lille on April 15, 2017, when he lasted 65th minute on the pitch against Rennes in the Ligue 1.

Pls say something on this cos it seems Rohr is right,.

If we want to go by Rohr submission only Akpeyi worth included in the team or is he telling us better to be keeping in division three and regional league than wallowing on the bench in first team.

I think is better for keeper like Alampasu to go back to fareinse youth team or else he should forget WC.

Rohr statement is cleared regards goalkeepers, just be playing week in week out cos if not why considering goalkeepers at very lower league like regional league.

The coach used a false 9 bro, no natural striker inn the team..I know he used this formation on some of his premiership games when morata got injured..

You can't change the fact that its still a totally different tactics..did u wonder why the coach used fabregas instead of bakayako that has been playing most of chelsea game..its all part of the tactics to suit what Chelsea wanted to do tonight..
No,Hazard has been used this season as false 9 with the presence of natural striker Batsuwayi on the bench even when Morata came back from injury,Conte still used Hazard as false 9,so having Morata on the bench not surprising.

And Bakayoko and Fabregas at Chelsea this season,it's either Fabregas playing and Bakayoko on the bench, vice versa,so nothing new yesterday.

Mujtahida:
Would you field Shehu in a 5-3-2 formation just because you cannot change a winning team?
My man it's simple,if Shehu Abdullahi is in starting lineup against Croatia in 4-4-2 formation and we won convincingly and against Iceland,Rohr decides to use 5-3-2,are you saying Shehu would be dropped to the bench.

It's not done that way,Shehu would only be changed if he failed to meet up during Iceland match and someone else replace him from the bench.

Pls how many players do we want to change just cos we are changing formation.

Honestly i think icon4s has settled this, pls read his comprehensive analysis again on formations during tournament and how teams reacts to meet up.

Bros, lets not turn white to black here so i will just keep quiet. his bia bia alone says alot (the thickness, shape etc).

Make i turn 'blind eye"

Taiye Taiwo things cheesy
..turn white to black?am not disputing your believe on Kayode's age but leave his wife out of it,she deserves little respect.

I think Odion Ighalo marked his first son 7th years birthday recently, pls how is Ighalo and his wife, meaning Ighalo got married at 21.

Sir don't let us go into age issue cos the perceived young U 17 of 2013 and 2015 are not that young as guys want us to believe o.

Pls let respect their age and move on cos majority of Nigerians are using court affidavits to back up their ages,so why are we always raise eyebrows when it comes to footballers.

Sir if i may ask do you have your hospital birth certificate or primary school certificate cos these are only certificates that can tell us our real age.

Sorry, your first sentence, was it before or after the Argentina friendly?
I think Argentina friendly would be our greatest undue at WC if Rohr want to base his assessment of the team on it and forgetting our WC qualifiers matches,it seems a lot have forgotten that the same Argentina needed to wait till last match before they made it.

Funny enough we talk more on Argentina friendly to rate our players, player like Shehu is now underrated to a point that 45 minutes Ebuhei is the main man now.

Goood i don't think Rohr is having it like a fan cos am seeing him considering Akpeyi again meaning he is a coach who know what is going on in the team than we fans.
