Egbon all those players you mention dem no be butty o, they endured harder times and things for this country, remember their fortunes and livelihood were more tied to the national team than this generation that won't be bothered much if they don't play for the country. That allowee dem na the koko o, it's much later players like Oliseh and co after many years in Europe that made them more comfortable. A generation that cut their tracksuit trousers into shorts to play. Those men different o.
Pls go and read about Stephen Keshi….Keshi single-handedly sacked very strong Alex Akinyemi as Sports minister….cutting tracksuits was to safe the country from CAF hammer, not that they are lily livery.

they thought they were dealing with the typical suffering and smiling Nigerians, dem no know say na Europeans dem dey deal with chai. I bet you the Eagles of old would have gone ahead to play this match. Na dem go encourage nff dem to go ahead. omo e good to get better captain wey sabi. Ekong is too much, I bet you no north African team will try this again even with local club sides. Everybody don wise up now.

If they wanted revenge actually, there are smarter ways to go about it and even your guest won't know but they met a different breed of Nigerians who understand best practices, shame dey catch me for Libya sef grin
Thank God the boys are coming back home safely…..Ekong did yeoman job and kudos to him for leading the team very well but my man Goke7,are you saying Christian Chuckwu,Stephen Keshi and Sunday Oliseh of old eagles would have played the match and even beg NFF? capital NO…..Keshi especially always supports his colleagues in any situation and Nigeria appreciated him more for that….In this situation,I don’t see any captains that would tell his colleagues to go ahead with the game

In the 1st leg match against Lybia, Chukwueze would have had an assist if the Linesman was not incompetent...

Chukwueze was in the AM position when he made that assist to Lookman.

S.E defense needs to move the ball to the Iwobi in central midlfield then Iwobi moves it to either of Simon, Chukwueze and Ejuke.

no player offers more than the other player..

Kog45, people are complaining of lack of team work between Lookman and Boniface.. its either bench Boniface and let Lookman be the main striker or bench Lookman and Let Boniface be the main striker since if Lookman plays as an AM behind Boniface there will be no teamwork
If Osimhen is not available just give us another traditional number 9 which is our trademark right from Thompson Usiyen,Rashidi Yekini,Yakubu Aiyegbeni,Obafemi Martins,Emma Emenike,Odion Ighalo to Victor Osimhen……Boniface cannot do it……if Awoniyi is off form then invite in form traditional number 9

Lookman cannot do it as main striker

In one of my posts I said there is need for Egu to sit Boniface and Lookman down.My comment was as a result iof Boniface response to a question and his answered showed that he was not happy with the reporter mentioning Lookman.

S.E as a team has better strikers than any club Ejuke has ever played for.. Ejuke will thrive in the current S.E.

Move iwobi to CM.
Let Lookman play SS/AM behind Boniface.
Put Simon on LW
Put Ejuke on RW.

Or even though it won't be wise... bench Lookman and let Chukwueze play SS/AM

Chukwueze is more creative than iwobi for the S.E.

havinng Simon, Chukwueze, Ejuke and Iwobi on the pitch can favor the S.E
Bench Lookman and let Chuckwueze play SS/AM?

Chuckwueze is more creative than Iwobi?

Longevity Troost

To Imagine that Local coach almost bundled him off with silliest remarks/analysis of abilities, is one for big vex.

Now he's the heart of this team. Respect and Regard, while doing primary duty without his long lost partner in crime, Leon Balogun of the Oyinbo Wall.

And here he is, still playing so well at this level, a fans favorite.

Local coaches need to upgrade their Analysis caps tbvh. Especially for FBs.

I pray he wraps it up with that AFCON in the bag.
Respect to Troost Ekong for proving many of us wrong at latter stages of his career.

Yes local coach(Sunday Oliseh) didn’t rated him but you forgot that Stephen Keshi gave him his cap and Samson Siasia picked him as starter in Olympics bronze winning team,so local coaches gave him that needed opportunity and trust.

Initially Ekong was poor in some areas that limited his abilities as a defender but he later grew in confidence, his performance in Afcon 2024 was a masterclass and crowned it as best player.

I remembered Finidi had 6 foreign borns as starters….Osayi,Moffi,Semi,Calvin,Lookman and Iwobi so what are you really saying regarding relationships between local coaches and FB.

bros i can mention loads of game so many tacticians has handled in which their opponents played like Libya and with all his tactical acumen he still ended up winning 1-0 in dying minutes
the game we witnessed today would also be the same result any world class tactician will face if handling super eagles….oga all the libyan players literally camped in their half till that goal brought them out…even with their 10man mass immobile defense, we still split opened their defense and lost so many chances
1. chukwueze facing the keeper but fluffing his chance
2. Lookman disallowd goal and so many other darting runs into their box-18.
You cant win all matches with 4-0 scoreline, most especially against a team that remained immobile at the defense….Benin tried to come out at us in the previous game and collected 3-0.
games like this you should be giving kudos to the coach for finding a way to unlock their defense and finding back of the net
we have seen world class teams dominate from beginning to the end but end up drawing or winning with a slim marging
In 2014 world cup between Argentina and Iran…the Iranians literally locked up everywhere and built a castle at their defense, but it took the world class tweaking of their tactical and brilliance of Leo Messi to score a dye min 1-0 win.
THE SUPER EAGLES DID NOT STRUGGLE WITHOUT OSIMHEN, even lookman at some large portion was lost in the game…if osimhen were to be in this game, highest he will bring his ginger and fearful presence, but oga, na 1-0 we go still win if we will win…we did not struggle we dominated from start to finish
Thank you

We scoring in the close of 80 mins by sub player doesn't obliterate the fact that the super eagles need a sound tactician

Look through the team whenever oshimen is not playing the super eagles struggles

Imagine a match with no oshimen and lookman the team will struggle more

We are looking at the need for AE to change tactics instead of bringing in crosses into the opponent 18 yard box in situations where they parked the Box why not encourage your players to shot from outside the 18yard box.

The fact that we won this match doesn't remove the fact that the scoreline wasn't impressive and we should have done better

So those advocating for a sound foreign tactician haven't done anything wrong
Pls just tell me how we fared against Guinea Bissau,Equatorial Guinea,Lesotho under Peseiro?cus me no dey understand all these unfair criticisms whenever we have local coaching eagles…..I remember we lost to CAR at home under Rohr

In club and national team football the goalie is almost never changed except in cases of the number 1 losing form or getting injured.

Okoye is a young man who's improving steadily I'm almost certain his time will come so long he remains on the right track.

Nwabali has been forged in the fiery oven of the AFCON and been found to be stable and worthy. Let the guy continue his good work instead of all this unnecessary distractions.
Maduka should wait for his chance again. He had it on a platter of gold before but now need to work his socks off to get it and good he is doing well with Udinese

Egbon, I understand your view but we are talking about this season. How many goals has Awoniyi scored this season? You said a “fit awoniyi”. So why is an unfit Awoniyi in the SE over the likes of dessers that have been banging goals this season?
My point is simple Joe man….Awo not starting in Forest is due to a terrible injury he suffered….unfit Awo over Dessers?Eguavoen should answer that….mind you I would rather have George or Tolu over Awo than Dessers in the list.

How did awoniyi get an invite over dessers?

Awoniyi who can’t get playing time over old man Wood in Nothingham Forest. How can a grandpa be benching you a 27 year old striker?

Chuba Akpom, Cyril Dessers and Josh Maja are doing better than Taiwo Awoniyi. Awoniyi has not had a good game for the Super Eagles before; he is not even playing for his club. Other serious countries invite players base on their current forms but this figure head coach is inviting the likes of taminu who is yet to break into a 3rd division team. SMH
Yes I agreed Awoniyi does not deserve to be on the list…..but you are too harsh on him regarding Chris Wood.Awo went out last season twice to injury and even failed to play any pre season.Chris Wood step in and is delivering.

The same Awoniyi saved Nottingham from relegation 22/23 ….easy bro….a fit Awo is better than Dessers,Akpom and Maja going by what he displayed against Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool and Man United in EPL.

Awo has not had a good game for eagles?ii remember he had a good game against Egypt in Afcon 2022.

We don’t need George Ilenikhena cus he can’t bench Osimhen and Boniface

As for Akor,Tolu,Akpom and others they re not needed too when we have experienced heads like Iheanacho and Awoniyi

Experience is key to the foundation of every national team. We ought to be clamouring for the recall of Musa,Ighalo and Efe Ambrose instead of relying on greenhorns
Oga Charles easy nau, since yesterday you just dey para and you even para to the extent you forgot it was legendary icon4s…..getting George is good but am seeing him in France national team. The moment he signed for Monaco I asked Chriskels is the boy playing for us?

Coaches normally worked with players they needed, sincerely I wasn’t expecting Iheanacho and Awoniyi to make it.

Boniface hasn’t delivered for eagles despite the ratings no goal in 8 matches .Awoniyi too hasn’t been convincing enough,2 goals in 9 matches, only Iheanacho has the good goal ratio and with absence of Osimhen, better for a coach to list Iheanacho…..just check it out listing Boniface,Akpom,Akor or Tolu, honestly it will take a very bravery coach to do that in a competitive match, yes it’s Libya.

The team list has been drawn and players are in camp, let’s see what will happens against Libya

Good point from you though regarding the call ups

Simon Mignolet was the undisputed no 1 in Liverpool for a long time and had lots of good performances , occasionally making gaffes and letting in cheap goals.

Eventually, the club concluded he just wasn't good enough, and realised they were not going to win titles with him so they got Alisson Becker.

Thereafter, Liverpool won the Champions League and the Premier League titles. No be coincidence.

Like Mignolet, like Okoye. We are not going far or winning any competition with Okoye in goal.

If you think he's the reincarnation of Buffon, that's fine. I think he's jittery, has poor judgement, error prone and not a dependable goalkeeper.

We can agree to disagree.

At the end, we all want the best for the Super Eagles and I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

The basis for national team selection is continuous consistent outstanding top 🔝 Level 🎚️ Performance, in club and league.

Okoye made one mistake and you will not let him rest, you are prejudiced.

Okoye is classed as one of the best goal 🥅 keepers in Seria A his statistics outstanding in the here and now. He has obviously improved.

Nwabili has been good no doubt in comparison to the shambolic keepers we had in the past. But right now Okoye deserves a chance and let's see how good he is.

Nonetheless, I have very serious doubts about Eguavon and his selections. He has invited a dead player in the name of KC who has been mediocre for over 4 season.

He has ignored players in form to select a player based on historical performance.

A manager who selected Nwakali is hight questionable ❓
Yes Okoye is getting good reviews in seria A but NOT BETTER than Nwabali….Nwabali came in and nailed it at once for eagles but Okoye despite the packaging failed to convince us for once in eagles.I watched Okoye last season and watching him this season he is not in anyway better than Nwabali, yes Nwabali is in South Africa league.

My happiness is that we now have improved Okoye who can step in anytime but guess what he need a game to tell us he is better in eagles color like he is doing presently withUdinese.
