BusinessRe: Running A Transportation Within Lagos by koning: 11:58am On Oct 14, 2014
chuks04, if you drive the bus yourself in Lagos, you will never lose. It's very lucrative when you are the owner driver. I own a couple of buses in Lag. I received info that one of my drivers was boasting that he was making N10,000 for himself after given me the daily delivery of N6,000. It's a bigger bus (18 seater). This is because he was overworking the bus. This info got me so pissed off that i'm seriously considering driving that bus myself.
The beauty of driving the bus yourself is that you will decide when and how long you will work. Most owner drivers work only in the mornings and evenings. They take conservatively between 8 to 10k home daily.

Start small. Buy a fairly used bus, fix it very well and you are in biz. It's easy to deal with the Agberos if you are friendly. Make them your friend. I'm sure you can do that as an Igbo boy.
BusinessRe: Inspiring Story Of Hardworking Abuja Girl Who Turned Millionaire Overnight (pix) by koning: 10:19pm On Oct 07, 2014
Very impressive. I would advice Anna to forget about that Microbiology course and use the money to expand her business into a full fledged bakery.

She could also invest on other biz. She has enough education already.

Are you in Lagos ?. Drop your contacts. Phone no. or e-mail address. I don't do Whatsapp or bbm. I may have a bus for you.
FamilyRe: Is Marriage A Measure Of Success In Life? by koning: 12:55pm On Oct 01, 2014
dasparrow: Unfortunately, marriage does NOT make a person responsible. That is a myth and a lie that Nigerians continue to tell themselves. In fact, in Nigeria, marriage is a joke. A big joke!!! Everyday, Nigerian married men are busy sexually harassing single females be it at the office, in the university or wherever. Infidelity in Nigerian marriages is seen as no big deal. The average Nigerian married man does not stick to his marital vows and sleeps around like a male dog on heat.

Just because someone decided to sign the dotted line and invite some friends and family members to eat rice, wedding cake and drink mineral does not mean the person is responsible. There are many Nigerian married men who are NOT providers. They sit at home with their big stomachs looking like they are 9 months pregnant while the wife is out there trying to hustle and provide for the family.

There are many Nigerian married men who have infected their naive and gullible wives with sexually transmitted diseases of all sorts including HIV/AIDS all because they sleep around with university girls and ashawos. They are many married men in Nigeria that are paedophiles that prey on unsuspecting young children and teenagers. Lastly, there are many Nigerian married men who don't even live with their wives and kids under the same roof (The Oyakhilomes anyone?). Husband lives in one country, wife in another. Husband lives in one state and wife in another giving the man the license to cheat and many married Nigerian men love it that way.

So please stop with the Nigerian hypocrisy. I have absolutely no respect for adulterers who marry due to societal pressures yet continue to live a lifestyle meant for bachelors and spinsters.

@Post

How can marriage be considered a measure of success? If marriage were to be measured as a form of success, then why is Nigeria still a developing country considering all the married folks that live within her boundaries? The whites are advancing in technology, science and medicine while the average Nigerian Negro sits there marrying, birthing too many kids like rats that they cannot adequately provide for and then cheating on their spouses with reckless abandonment while deceiving himself (not me) that he is responsible. What a joke!

Abeg next!
Did you actually understand what the Op posted before posting this your fake intellectual expose. When someone asks if you are married, he is not expecting you to give him minute by minute account of your married life. What goes on in married people's home is not the issue. But the institution itself.
One could have beaten his wife into a coma the night before. But when an organization or an individual pops the question: Are you married? He will simply answer YES. That all that is needed to give that impression of success. Especially when the person appears in corporate attire.
CareerRe: Successful Nigerians Who Never Went To A University by koning: 12:44pm On Oct 01, 2014
A university education guarantees you nothing. A secondary school cert is however very neccessary. Basic schooling in needed. After that you can choose to become a Jay jay Okocha, Innocent Chukwuma, Don Jazzy or Dangote.

Once you can read and write, you can educate yourself on any field. On the job training is much more important.
FamilyRe: Is Marriage A Measure Of Success In Life? by koning: 12:39pm On Oct 01, 2014
AfricanApple: normally no

with Nigerian mentality yes
Nothing to do with "Nigerian mentality" . What the Op said is applicable to almost everywhere in the world. Including the US, UK and Europe. The whole of Asia and South America.

Try getting a visitors Visa in any embassy in Nigeria as a single man or woman. It's 10x more difficult.
Being married gives you an edge every where in the world. Being married with children tripples your credibilty.

You die hard feminists should stop blaming Nigeria for all your short commings.
TravelRe: On Nigerians And The 'must Travel Mentality' by koning: 7:45pm On Sep 28, 2014
majekdom2: oh , so what is the black American president doing that is so different ?There are blacks in America not because they migrated like many want to now, some were taken as slaves . How well would it had been if the Asians start shouting Asian American president.... But they don't need that to make their continent a better place. They choose to help themselves . Hardly , would you hear an Asian man living abroad condemn his country.

In fact the indians and Chinese start planning for their return the very day they are given a work permit or Green card. They make heavy investments in the mother country.
TravelRe: On Nigerians And The 'must Travel Mentality' by koning: 7:41pm On Sep 28, 2014
maternal: Many Nigerians cannot easily migrate to the west. In most cases only the elitist can. If you consider them "many" then ok. The American who fought migration obviously has potential business deals where he'll hama. Then I'm sure he won't mind leaving after. Your security comment is comical. Go return all the girls before you worry about New York or London. The same government who lied and said they got all the girls returned originally, this is the same gov't you want me to trust their stats ? Stop it my friend.
I am dead seriuos about the security issue. The girls and Boko Haram is a one off incident. Besides, how many people died at the World Trade Center( 9/11). Not to mention the School shootings in the US and Knife stabbings in S.E. London. I'm guessing you live in Lagos, which is supposedly our most insecure city. Have you noticed how dead Lagos is after 10pm. The only places you will find people roaming around are the busy market centres like Ikeja under bridge, Ojota, Obalende etc. Most residential areas in Lagos are virtually empty after 09.30pm. Nigerians value life. There is still that sanctity for human life.
In the West someone can just waste your life for something that does not concern you. Lots of random, senseless killings. Sorry, i consider Nigeria safer. I am talking out of experience.

mployer: You guys still don't read.

I never said my cousins returned from Europe. Nawa oo.

I said they schooled in Nigeria and prefered to work in Nigeria than move to Europe. How is that a failure? Poverty mentality is eating you guys up.

They work in big organisation here and still travel to Europe on vacation yearly. My surprise is that I thought they would want to start up their career in Eu but they choose Nigeria despite being Eu citizens.

Opportunities are here but you guys are not seeing it, all you are talking about is taxi driver earning 60k per month. FYI, Lagos danfo drivers earn more than that.
Thank you for reminding them. They are not aware or refuse to accept that there are many Nigerians who can easily emigrate to the west, but chose to stay put in Nigeria. There was even an American man that fought his deportation from Nigeria in a Lagos court.

Over 90% of passengers on any flight leaving MMA to US, Uk, Europe or UAE reside permanently in that " Shithole " called Nigeria. The lamest excuse given by Diasporan Nigerians for not wanting to return to Nigeria is 'Security' . A Nigerian is more likely to be murdered in New york city and S.E London than in Lagos. Go and check the statistics. I don't mean stats obtained from prejudiced people in the US or UK.
Japan has everything that Nigeria hasn't. But more Japanese people kill themselves than Nigerians. The Netherlands has a higher suicide rate than Nigeria.
People who are not in a position to make it back to Nigeria will always use the condition of the country as an excuse. Over 150m people still live there. 40% of whom are children.
TravelRe: See Pictures Of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road Bogije Ibeju Lekki Lagos by koning: 9:10pm On Sep 17, 2014
omongbatim: Is this the Lekki we hear about or is another yet to come?
There are many different parts of Lekki. Ibeju Lekki is kilometers away. It's actually an outskirt of Lagos like Badagry. You can still get land at Ibeju Lekki for N500k a plot.

saxywale: VI, lekki and ikoyi are all overrated.
Yea... Ikoyi is a shithole. I would rather settle on the outskirts of Ikorodu or Badagry. More space and cleaner air. But you must have a ride though.
BusinessRe: Please Help: I'm Tired Of This Paid Employment by koning: 8:56pm On Sep 17, 2014
If you are interested in the Haulage and transport biz, we could go into a partnership. That way, you will not have to sink all your money into any biz at once. You will have someone to share the risk as well share ideas.
A partnership is a good way to begin. I have the trucks already. They just need some minor repairs. Signify interest and we will then exchange contacts.

CultureRe: Common Beautiful Names From The Igbo Tribe by koning: 9:12am On Sep 16, 2014
jcmaiah: My Igbo name remains the sweetest Igbo name of all time... Chihurumnanya, but since I am male I changed it to Chukwuhurumnanya. In ancient Igbos a mans name don't start with Chi, rather Chukwu. A womans name can end with both chukwu or chi but cant start with it.
Example... Chima=female, chukwuma=male.
again some names that are 99% used by female has male users too.
Example... Chioma=female, Chukwuoma=male.
Chiamaka=female, Chukwuamaka=male.
Igbo name abuses are common in abia state and part of ebonyi. In abia u see a man bearing Chinyere or Chioma.
The biggest abuse from Abia or is it Imo is NGOZI for a man. I've met a couple of them. It's weird.

GTrans: Thank you sir for your concern. honestly sir!, I never wished to drive commercial vehicles in lagos again cos I've done that before but the LASTMA and agberos are the reason I quit the work, well I upgraded to learn trailer driving though am a good trailer driver, later I was into tokumbo car fleet from tincan to any part of nigeria...
In all these sir! I don't like the driving work cos I wouldn't want to have a family tomorrow yet being a driver.
Driving your OWN vehicle is one of the most lucrative business you can think of in Lagos. Lastma will not harass you if your papers are in order and if you keep to the rules. These you can easily do if you own the bus. With that amount you have, that is your best bet. You don't even need to work long hours if you drive your own bus in Lagos.

You cannot afford a trailer. Just my suggestion though.

Since you are a proffessional driver, i can offer you a ready made commercial bus. You will have to deposit N100k. Take the bus, and make monthly payments. After a full year payment, the bus will be all yours.

You cannot lose if you drive it yourself anywhere in Lagos. Drop your contact details.

Give me an indication of how much you will collect to supervise construction of Decking on a 5 bedroom duplex at Ikorodu. Send your quotation to ikezilly@yahoo.com
