I only worry about the transportation cost. I think that the Government should once again allow Cement importation. Ibeto would sell for N1,500 if allowed to import. Builders would team up to buy a ship load. Anything to force down the price in Nigeria.

Cement is the cheapest building material all over the world. In Nigeria the manufacturers enjoy a monopoly. This must stop.

As far as I'm concerned selling Cement for N2,400 in Nigeria is 'against the law'. It should be illegal. We are being robbed with everyone using the scarcity of Dollar as an excuse.

If I can get smuggled Cement for N1,500 anywhere, I will not hesitate to buy it. Dangote Cement is corruption personified.

I have been curious about this question. Maybe someone here can provide an answer. IS THERE ANY WAY TO SMUGGLE CHEAP CEMENT FROM COTONOU?. CAN ONE BUY CEMENT FROM NEIGBOURING COUNTRIES, or smuggled cement from Badagry.

Do they even manufacture Cement there or is it the same Dangote over there ?.

You should have let it slide. There was no need to correct him. I'm not even sure the guy that posted the comment is Igbo. He must have heard Dr. Omalu somewhere talking about growing up at Enugu, hence his comment. Like Omalu, Chimamanda Adiche always talks about growing up in Nsukka and Enugu. To most non Igbo listners, that's where she comes from. The place where you were born or raised has the most influence on who you become, not where your ancestors come from. Most people don't really care about that anyway.

You are very correct here. I have noticed that Yoruba's never talk about state of origin. Good or bad news, it's the entire tribe that takes the credit. Igbos on the other hand always want to claim the good news for their various states of origin even when the person involved does not know his or her home town(Igbos born and raised in Lagos and outside the country)

I don't think it is cheaper than the normal sand-cement block we are used to. You will have to use 3x the quantity of blocks for a wall partition. I will however use it for my internal partitions on the upper floor so as to create more space.
