dederocs: All of you peddling rumours about allegations on Mr president, stop peddling fake news, Tinubu was known to come up through working with Mobil, people saw how he came up.
All the drug allegations and nonsense must be put to rest, a US judge has spoken. We must support our president to do the right thing not malign and criticize unnecessarily.
Let's talk about the price of fuel, depreciation of naira, let's talk about what the senate and house of representatives are doing in those chambers...are they there representating Nigerians or representing their pockets?
Let's talk about issues and public offices, public expenditure and accountability, and not personality.
LegendHero: Gazette and busybody. Why report the true news.
They should let all this headlesss mobss trend this more so we can all focus on this and they forget to do the neccessary planning for 2027 election.
I am sure by 2026, Asiwaju himself will prop up one person to reopen the case and let his enemies focus on that while he continue to win election.
They’ve been doing this same rubbish since 1999.
There is NO drug case against Bola Tinubu and he has NEVER had any criminal record in the United States yet these highly uninformed ipob troll farms and sick posters keep spinning this FAKE and highly defamatory story around in their sick heads for years now despite being corrected multiple times.
Attached right BELOW is the 2003 official letter from Michael H. Bonner, the then Legal Attache of United States Embassy in Lagos debunking the FAKE allegations that Tinubu is wanted for drug crimes in the United States. The FBI National Crime Information Center [NCIC] doesn't contain Bola Ahmed Tinubu's name in it till date and NCIC is the official central database that contains the names of all convicted people in the United States.
Chucks13: Go and defeat him Mr Atiku if you can I think you people think only Fulani must rule Nigeria ba? Sorry gone are those days of threatening other region with "born to rule anthem".

OlujobaSamuel: The dude no sabi jare Make I add to your list, Agege, Addo road for Ajah, Ketu(Mile 12 axis)
This is stunning. Those areas need to be lighted up ASAP with powerful floodlights at night to ensure the safety of people and residents of Lagos State.
However, over the years, the past Lagos State Governors have expended billions on security vehicles and equipment through the LSSTF and that MUST be commended.
These routes and places in Lagos State have to be lighted up with powerful street lights ASAP to prevents potential attacks on residents and visitors alike.
It's good the airport has a facilities management team in place to prevent the deterioration of the facilities there.
However, the name of the airport MUST be officially shortened to "Ekiti State International Cargo Airport" since passengers will ALSO fly in and out of the airport alongside the export of cargo. The Agro-Allied in the long name MUST be removed because it's too long for proper branding.
iykbethany: As an entrepreneur, I’ve always looked for ways to invest in the agricultural sector because agriculture offers more than just business opportunities. It's a way to create jobs, generate wealth, and contribute to food security.
I ventured into agriculture many years ago to create jobs, create wealth and food security so iykbethany farms is a project that is very important to me, but the journey hasn't been easy at all. There have been trials and errors along the way and I have been documenting everything so others can learn from the process, my mistakes and struggles.
I already have other farms for banana, plantains, oil palm and pineapples but one other venture that really caught my eye was greenhouse farming due to its immense potential to improve crop yields and maximize the use of limited land.
The Decision to Venture into Greenhouse Farming The idea to invest in greenhouse farming came from my observation of Nigeria's agricultural sector. Agriculture remains a critical part of our economy, yet many farmers still rely on traditional open-field farming, which is vulnerable to weather fluctuations, pest infestations, and inconsistent crop yields. With greenhouse farming, I saw an opportunity to leverage controlled environments to optimize crop growth, especially for high-value crops like habanero peppers.
Initial Setup and Consultation The first year I ventured into agriculture, I went into Plantain and cassava farming without consulting any professional so the project failed woefully. So these days I do a lot of research and I consult widely. Since greenhouse farming was a new venture for me, I knew that consulting an expert was critical to ensuring the project's success. So I turned to a greenhouse expert I met on Nairaland. After several discussions, I hired him to oversee the construction of the greenhouses and other necessary infrastructure on the farm.
The project plan included: Setting up two greenhouses: One dedicated to habanero peppers (Habanero F1) and the other for bell peppers (Hercules F1 red and Abbey F1 yellow).
Constructing a water tank stand: This would support two large water tanks that were crucial for the irrigation system. However, it wasn’t long before we encountered a significant setback.
Unfortunately, the tank stand collapsed on the very day we filled the tanks with water. It turned out that the contractor used inferior materials, specifically low-quality metal, for the structure. As a result, the tank stand could not support the weight of the filled tanks, leading to its collapse.
Damage and Financial Losses When the tank stand collapsed, the two water tanks were severely damaged, leaving them unusable. This resulted in unexpected financial losses, as I had to buy two new water tanks.
Moreover, the entire tank stand had to be reconstructed from scratch but this time I used manual labour and I decided to use blocks and cement.
The total damage and reconstruction costs included: The cost of buying two new water tanks. The expense of reconstructing the tank stand with stronger, more reliable materials—this time, I opted for a tank stand made from concrete blocks and cement instead of metal.
Lessons Learned from the Setback While the setback with the water tank stand was a major hurdle, it also taught me several valuable lessons about managing a greenhouse farming project. As an entrepreneur, it’s essential to not only focus on the potential profits but also to be mindful of the process, quality of materials, and the people involved in the project. Also, I have found out that water tank stands made of block and cement are stronger than those made of metals. And it is cheaper as well.
After completing the greenhouse construction, I decided to hire a farm manager/agronomist to help oversee the operations. I will never repeat the mistakes I made years ago when I planted cassava and other crops without proper supervision. So I found someone from UNIPORT who had the knowledge and skills I was looking for. Since he’s still a student at Uniport, he requested free furnished accommodation on the farm, along with cooking utensils, to make it convenient for him to manage the farm while continuing his studies.
This is a pilot project so I am still learning and documenting the whole process.
Phase 1: Seed Germination and Nursery - Raised 1,000 seeds each of red and yellow bell peppers and habanero peppers- Germination occurred after 7 days- Nursery duration: 28 days before transplanting
Phase 2: Farm Preparation - Cleared the farm - Created ridges - Installed irrigation system - Opened holes for planting - Applied manure and NPK 15.15.15 fertilizers
Phase 3: Transplanting and Greenhouse Setup - Transplanted seedlings into two greenhouses: - Habanero F1 - Bell Pepper (Hercules F1 red and Abbey F1 yellow) - Set up: - Binding wire (upper and lower lines) - Staking rope
Conclusion Greenhouses are a valuable tool for improving agricultural productivity in Nigeria, especially for crops like habanero peppers and bell peppers. By providing a controlled environment, greenhouses help farmers overcome the challenges of traditional farming, such as unpredictable weather and pests. The structured approach to farming, from seed germination to transplanting and feeding, ensures high yields and quality produce.
Most Nigerians do not know that the reason foodstuffs are expensive is because of insecurity in the North. Northern Nigeria is our food basket but sadly bandits and terrorists are attacking farmers on a daily basis. In some Northern states, farmers cannot access their farms without paying hefty ramson to bandits and there is no guarantee you will come back alive even after paying the ransom. If the government can tackle insecurity, food prices will drop dramatically.

maureensylvia: What You Need to Know About Tonnage Business in Agrobusiness and How to Make Cool Cash in 2025
When I first stepped into the tonnage business in agrobusiness, I didn’t fully grasp how powerful it could be. I thought it was just about selling bigger bags of grains, but I quickly learned that it’s much more than that.
Let me share with you how the tonnage business works, how it can make you cool cash, and the mistakes I made so you don’t have to repeat them.
Long post Alert🚨🚨🚨
What Is Tonnage Business?
In tonnage business, you’re buying and selling agricultural products like rice, beans, millet, sesame seeds or soya in bulk—measured in tons. A ton equals 1,000 kilograms, which means you’re moving large quantities at a time.
At first, the profit per kilogram might seem small—just 3 naira or 5 naira per kg—but when you’re selling tons, those small profits add up fast. For example, selling 10 tons (10,000 kg) at 5 naira profit per kg gives you 50,000 naira profit.
How It Works
1. Sourcing Quality Goods: One thing I’ve learned is that quality matters. Buyers will reject dirty grains, so spending money on cleaning and sorting pays off in the long run.
2. Finding Buyers: You need to know your market. For local sales, target big wholesalers, food companies, and supermarkets. If you’re thinking about export, there are foreign buyers who want Nigerian products like rice, soya beans, sesame seeds, and soya meal. Buyers are looking for trusted sellers but you need to make a move.
3. Weighing and Selling: Weighing is key in this business. Buyers pay per kilogram or ton, so I always use a weigh bridge to double-check the weight. I’ve made mistakes in the past with inaccurate measurements, but now I ensure everything is spot on.
4. Delivery and Logistics: If you’re selling locally, arrange for trucks to move the goods. If you’re exporting, you’ll need to handle packaging, documentation, and shipping. It may seem a bit complicated, but the profits make it all worth it.
Why It’s Profitable
Even small profits can add up to big money in tonnage business:
A 3 naira profit per kg adds up quickly. For example, a 20-ton (20,000 kg) sale at 5 naira profit per kg equals 100,000 naira profit.
High demand for food means there’s always someone looking to buy.
When you export, you earn in dollars, which adds value with the exchange rate.
atheistandproud: Smartphones have become more expensive lately, but the need for solid performance and great features hasn’t changed. If you’re shopping for a new phone and your budget is around ₦400,000, this list will help you find the best phones under ₦400000 in Nigeria right now.
These phones are all brand new, and while some may cut corners to stay within budget, others offer some good value. Here’s our breakdown of the top 10 options available in 2025
iLegendd: The Hausas should try as much as possible to dissociate themselves from the Fulanis, but no, they're always claiming "We are one."
Almost everyone globally hates the Fulanis because of their evil and hunger to conquer and zero value for humans, but cows. Yet, zero invention to save life. You can never hear a Fulani invented this and that.
These people aren't as social as the Hausas. You hardly see them except in the bush, when they want to commit a crime and run back to the bush and during election. The ones you see easily are their wicked and power-hungry manipulative politicians.
So, the Hausas should start creating videos, teaching how to differentiate a Fulani from an Hausa man or woman. If you don't do these things, people will mistake you for Fulanis and you'll pay the price of a crime you didn't commit.
The Fulanis are owing every nation reprisal attack of atrocities they've been committing for decades without repercussion.
So, the Hausas, be wise and differentiate yourself.
Also, I pity the Igbos. Always claiming the South South to be yours, but the SS said no, we're different, yet Igbos refused to listen.
Now the SS is kpaing people, who do you think will pay the price? You, the Igbos since you keep claiming SS is yours. You've made Northerners to see you as one.
Now they've looked for trouble and you'll end up paying the price because you're the ones that travel the most to the North for business. It's too late to denounce what you've been claiming to own as yours.
Igbos and Hausas just have the same mindset. Always clingy and trying to be emotionally attached to their violent neighbours and these neighbours will always put them in trouble.
femisplash: Enough talk about China-US trade tangles, maybe not enough talk but a shift away from that to China- Nigeria/Africa's more significant emerging opportunities. China is not only turning to Nigeria or Africa in trade market, she is also set to deliver $51billion investment, aid, and loans over the next two years beginning as recently as 2024. Particularly that African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCTA) opens up the possibility of cross-border value chains developing in Africa.
Most of the goods that China imports from Africa are natural resources , in return, Chinese companies export a wide range of goods to Africa, including manufacturing products, Agricultural, industrial machinery , vehicles, etc. A 2019 statistics, for example, shows Chinese contractors accounted for about 60% of the total value of construction work in Africa, this is bonkers! - in a good way, I mean.
So, here's the deal, a desperate Xi Jinping looking to diversify his country's market and dependency on the US market, seeing Nigeria being the biggest market for its products in Africa, will strike a deal on Nigeria's own terms. I expect the minister of trade and investment push a near perfect deal on the table of Mr President. This is where we're back to the China-Nigeria currency swap. Renewal of Naira/Yuan deal from $2billion to as low as $10billion as kick off. As well as more emphasis on capital goods coming in to stimulate local industrialization. That should be the sweet juice we should squeeze out of the deal. A desperate Xi Jinping would not hesitate accelerating its approval in 1week while FG puts on a big smile.
femisplash: Product manufacturers in China have turned their attention to Nigeria and other emerging markets following the imposition of trade tariffs on their products by the US President, Donald Trump.
Trump, on April 2, slapped a 46% tariff on Vietnam and a 17% levy on the Philippines before paring those back to 10% for the next three months as he begins bilateral negotiations on trade with about 75 different countries.
Manufacturers say that after Washington raised tariffs on Chinese goods by 145%, U.S. orders for products have vanished.
“It’s a matter of life and death because 60-70% of our business is with American clients,” marketing manager of Conmo Electronic Co, Candice Li SAID in a survey obtained by Channels Television on Tuesday, adding,g “Goods cannot be exported and money cannot be collected. This is very severe.”
Most exporters Reuters spoke with said U.S. orders have either been delayed or stopped coming – a bad sign for the world’s second-largest economy, whose growth last year relied heavily on running a trillion-dollar trade surplus.
Kobe Huang, sales representative at Shenzhen Landun Environmental Technology, which makes water filters and smart toilets, says that for now, European sales are up, but the U.S. market is “frozen.”
U.S. customers and distributors haven’t cancelled orders, he said. “They have asked us to hold on. We are holding on.”
No other country comes close to matching China’s sales of more than $400 billion in goods to the U.S. each year.
And while Trump’s tariffs on the rest of the world are much lower, they are likely to curb global demand in coming months – and implicitly, the appetite for Chinese goods in other countries.
Despite the tariffs on China, exports from China to other countries, including to Nigeria, have surged. A poll by AFP said China is expected to post first-quarter growth of around five percent on Wednesday, buoyed by exports.
Analysts polled by AFP forecast the world’s number two economy to have grown 5.1 percent from January to March.
Figures released Monday showed Beijing’s exports soared more than 12 percent on-year in March, smashing expectations, with analysts attributing it to a “frontloading” of orders ahead of Trump’s so-called “Liberation Day” tariffs on April 2.
Many exporters said they have been either diversifying their production bases outside China, or the markets they sell to, away from the United States.
Henry Han, sales manager at Apexto Electronics Co, which makes SSD and micro SD flash drives, says the U.S. market only accounts for 10% of direct sales, down from 30% before the pandemic. Many of their customers now take shipments of components for final assembly in a third country to avoid the tariffs.
Sales manager David Du, from speaker maker Zealot, said an order from Skechers for 30,000 speakers to be distributed to their U.S. stores was put on hold after Trump’s tariffs. But he said he can rely on other markets.
Zealot got a big and unexpected break in 2015, when an all-in-one speaker, power bank and emergency flashlight became a hit in Nigeria. He added that its market in Nigeria is now twice as big as the U.S., accounting for 40% of total sales and taking in 45 containers monthly.
“We are as big as JBL” in Nigeria, Du said, referring to the Californian audio equipment brand.

China’s exports to Nigeria are diverse and significant, with a focus on manufactured goods, particularly electrical and electronic equipment, machinery, and vehicles. In 2023, these top exports included electrical and electronic equipment ($2.88B), machinery, nuclear reactors, and boilers ($2.13B), and vehicles (other than railway or tramway) ($1.34B).
The bilateral trade between Nigeria and China reached an all-time high of $15.1 billion (about N25.7 trillion) between January and September 2024, with China’s imports from Nigeria increasing by 36.1 per cent year-on-year.

LocalFARMERS: I bought this Masa for 300 naira in Kaduna. Masa is a popular Northern Nigerian Street food. Masa is made from 100% Rice. Vegitables Soup or Groundnut Soup is used to eat Masa.
Some Suya sellers also add Masa to their Customers on demand. There are two types of Masa. The one that Sugar is added and the one without Sugar.
mrrandomguy: All the alternatives you listed are also rising in prices, although not rising as fast as beans.
I have made the following observations: 1. We are currently in the planting season for beans, hence the scarcity.
2. Price will not come down. Let them set the minimum wage to 250k, it will become worthless in the next 3 years.
3. Insecurity is making it harder for people to farm. Boko-haram, Bandits and IPOB are wreaking havocs all over the country. See as thousands of Southeasterners are fleeing to Lagos and other Southwest states in this video.
The cost of preparing a pot of jollof rice for a family of five in Nigeria has surged to an average of N25,486 as of March 2025, up from N21,300 in September 2024 — a nearly 20% increase in just six months.
This spike was highlighted in a new report by SBM Intelligence titled “Staple Under Stress,” part of the group’s quarterly Jollof Index, which tracks the cost of making the popular West African dish as a proxy for monitoring food price trends nationwide.
The report attributes the steep rise to the skyrocketing prices of key ingredients such as rice, pepper, onions, beef, and especially turkey— now one of the most expensive components of the meal.
“Turkey now sells for between N8,000 and N10,500 per kilogram, a staggering increase from N1,500 to N1,700 per kilogram in 2016,” the report noted.
SBM Intelligence pointed to a combination of factors fueling the price hike: growing insecurity in agricultural regions, high transportation costs, and rising energy expenses. These have all contributed to supply chain disruptions and made it harder for food to move from farms to markets.
The report, which examined market data across 13 locations in Nigeria between the last quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, found that while some areas experienced brief price stability at the end of 2024, food costs began to climb again early this year.
Fuel and electricity costs have also worsened the situation. “Petrol prices remain high, and electricity tariffs for B and A consumers have increased, compounding financial pressure on Nigerian households,” the report stated.
It also highlighted the devastating effect of violence in key farming areas. “Insecurity remains a pressing issue, with incidents such as the killing of farmers in Benue, Borno, and Plateau States disrupting agricultural output and reducing the availability of food,” the report added.
The 19.7% increase in the national average cost of jollof rice underscores the growing burden of food inflation in Nigeria, impacting not only household budgets but also nutrition and access to staple meals.
Jollof rice isn't a meal that is eaten regularly but on special occasions for those on the lower income ladder. In any event, cost-cutting measures can still be used to cook cheaper and tasty Jollof rice that is way below this so-called "Jollof rice Index cost."
Alternative food types and meal plans exist (that are even way healthier than this "white rice" which is used to make Jollof rice) with LOW Glycemic Index levels of less than 55.
Rice is generally a very HIGH Glycemic Index level food of over 70 level which shoots up the blood glucose rapidly and contributes to the high rates of Type 2 diabetes which have left people blind, with kidney failures, high blood pressure, and nerve damage leading to leg amputations. Period.
PressMyButton: During an interview on Noble Nigeria hosted by Noble Eyisi, Sowore explained his principled stance on not aligning with political godfathers in order to win power.
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore has said he refuses to compromise his values for political gain, warning that Nigeria has become “a burial ground for good- intentioned people” where evil is more likely to thrive than virtue.
During an interview on Noble Nigeria hosted by Noble Eyisi, Sowore explained his principled stance on not aligning with political godfathers in order to win power.
‘Peter Obi Was Packaged by the Elite’.
On the subject of Peter Obi, Sowore was unflinching. He described the former Anambra State governor as a “packaged” candidate promoted by the elite to hijack the energy of the #EndSARS movement.
“After #EndSARS, the youth were ripe for power. But the elites knew they had to insert someone they could talk to,” Sowore claimed. “So they gave them Obi, and it was all packaging.”
According to Sowore, Obi is not the revolutionary some people think he is. Sowore also accused Obi’s supporters of waging an aggressive information campaign and using social media to silence dissenting voices.
“Obi was portrayed as the face of the youth struggle, but it was a tyranny of the minority,” he said.
“Even Wole Soyinka told me he almost fell for it up to a point. He said I was almost endorsing this guy. And then he woke up one day and his name was all over, and he said he was asking, what did I do wrong? What did I do wrong? It turns out they just picked on him for no reason.
And even though he didn't participate in the election, he became the most ridiculed person after the election. That was what got him upset. And he said, ‘Oh, if this is my last assignment on earth, I'm going to let people know who you people are."
Recounting his own encounters with Obi, Sowore shared personal stories of what he described as hypocrisy and stagecraft.
“When we were running for election, I noticed something about him. If Peter wants to take a private jet, he will go and enter through commercial place and greet everybody. You think? And then they will bring a vehicle and put him to go to the private jet area,” he said.
He narrated how Obi would then switch to the VIP lounge for a private jet. “I was actually expecting that he was driving Innoson motors,” he said.
“Peter Obi had nothing less than 10 big Toyota SUVs waiting for him. And I was telling myself, why do you have to lie? So why do you have to cover up for this? Nobody's going to be upset with you that you are a presidential candidate if you have a convoy.
“But look at this trajectory, and that packaging is his style. And if you want to get away with finding out, then he'll send his people after you.” “I knew him and he knew that I knew him. But there were guys who were against him in those days who didn't have the courage to come out again, because they were afraid of the backlash, and they did a fantastic job of scaring everybody,” he said.
Sowore narrated how Obi once publicly praised him for helping him become governor, but later allowed his associates to smear him and novelist Okey Ndibe with false accusations.
“They printed posters in Anambra calling us gay partners,” he recalled. “That’s when I knew he endorses those rabid online attacks.”
“Information Warfare Worse Than Military Rule”
Sowore warned that the political atmosphere in Nigeria had become dangerously intolerant, comparing the media manipulation around Obi’s rise to tactics seen during the civil war and military rule.
“But there were guys who were against him (Obi) in those days who didn't have the courage to come out again, because they were afraid of the backlash, and they did a fantastic job of scaring everybody,” he said.
Omoyele Sowore who CLEARLY stated in a video I saw online recently that he is an Ijaw, though his Kiribo community in Ese-Odo LGA is in Ondo State (which they partly share with the Ilaje-Yorubas and Kiribo is a Yoruba-speaking community bearing Yoruba names with a mix of Ijaw culture) is partly correct but Omoyele himself has his own demons because for the last 5 years now, his Sahara Reporters online publication has totally lost focus and regularly publishes sensationalism and outright FALSEHOODS and inconsistencies in so-called investigative reports and you have to do constant fact-checks just like that criminal enterprise called Gazette also does by manipulating the the emotions of the larger part of the gullible masses.
This attitude of misinformation isn't the trait of Omoyele Sowore we used to know from his late 1980s to 1990s student union days in UNILAG and for his near-accurate reports in Sahara Reporters which was considered a credible medium of investigative reports back from the very early 2000s.
bixton: The governors themselves will also not give the president the real details.
There are always discrepancies from them and the State Security Advicers.
The people who has the real stories are the chiefs if they are not compromised already and the indigenes in these community that are directly affected by this insurgency.
@bixton
I largely agree with your brilliant summations there.
Especially in the predominantly Hausa Northern States such as Zamfara, Katsina, etc, being governed by minority ethnic Fulani Governors.
This is exactly how when Nasir El-Rufai was the Kaduna State Governor in 2016, he gave millions of Nigerian money as so-called compensations to the foreign migrant Fulani herdsmen and bandits from Cameroon, Niger Republic and other Sahelian countries in West Africa who had killed large numbers of innocent indigenous people in Southern Kaduna instead of having them prosecuted by getting them arrested and brought to justice in Nigeria by using the Interpol, and Nasir had the audacity to say all that on a Channels Television interview on February 9, 2017 which is still on YouTube and I posted that same video here on NL in early 2025. The videos are posted here again right BELOW.
The Governors and community Chiefs of Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, Niger and other States of Nigeria from Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Kwara, Kogi, Enugu, etc, can easily say EXACTLY what the foreign minority Fulanis are doing through the take over of parts of their ancestral lands.
People have to STOP being politically correct and call out the real ethnicity of the bandits doing this for decades now (from the days of Obasanjo's PDP, to Yar' Adua to Goodluck Jonathan, to Muhammadu Buhari, and still happening now) while preventing legitimate farmers from going to their farms and causing food inflation and scarcity. It's annoying and shameful that the situation started getting very bad relentlessly under Goodluck Jonathan's Presidency and finally grew WORSE under Muhammadu Buhari (who is a Fulani man with a father from Niger Republic and a Kanuri mother from Borno State). Tinubu has to urgently assist the States with Nigerian Air Force jet fighters, surveillance and attack drones to end the yearly invasions by the foreign Fulanis NOW!
If President Bola Tinubu gives the order to assist the States to flush these criminal foreign Fulanis out of those communities and break the minority Fulani political hegemony on Nigeria in just 2 years of being in government, he will ALWAYS be remembered for long by millions. The States under a community policing structure OR State Policing structure can then proceed to raise the required funds to now buy their own surveillance drones (and a few attack drones) and more to monitor their forests against infiltrations by foreigner bandits. Surveillance drones aren't very expensive at all.
Jeje247: That is not true those areas are in kogi state but because the Igbos stay in those border towns and were living almost as indigenes, they tried to claim the oils deposit there. Infact there are other deposits far from the boundary that cannot be in dispute which are some of the oldest in Nigeria. They were drilled in the 50s and 80s.
The particular oil well you mentioned is in ibaji local government. Orient petroleum, owned by Anambra persons, commissioned a refinery in Anambra and was drilling oil from the well in Ibaji to their refinery. That is what led to the dispute cos that is stealing.
PressMyButton: Edo State Government has initiated moves to reclaim oil wells at the Orogho community in Orhionmwo Local Government Area of the state, which were allegedly ceded to Delta State.
The state Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, led a delegation to the community on Friday to seek an amicable resolution to the controversy surrounding the ceding of the oil wells being operated by Seplat Energy Plc.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the deputy governor, Mr Friday Aghedo, Idahosa met with Odionwere of the community, Pa Odiase Omorogieva, youth leaders, and community members as part of moves to peacefully resolve the issue.
He commended them for their peaceful disposition since the ceding of their “natural wealth” to another state.
He added, “My visit is to douse tension and allay the fear of losing their God-given mineral resources to another state, while the community where oil exploration and production takes place is under development.”
Idahosa promised that the present administration would explore all avenues and liaise with relevant agencies of government to ensure that the benefits from the assets in Edo State were restored to boost socio-economic development.
Idahosa, who inspected the disputed oil wells in the company of the General Manager, Government Relations, Seplat Energy, Mrs. Adiza Gambati, appealed to the people not to take the law into their hands as the matter would be given the needed attention.
The community youth leader, Charles Eghaghe, expressed satisfaction over the prompt response by the state government to find an amicable resolution to the injustice meted out to the Orogho community.
He noted that since 1993, when Shell Petroleum Development Company began operation in the disputed oil wells, royalties were paid to the Edo State Government in addition to corporate social responsibility.
He, however, noted that things changed when Seplat Energy Plc took over the operations of the oil wells.
Eghaghe appealed to the government to urgently return the disputed oil wells to the state, as most youths of Orogho who were graduates had no jobs.
seunowa: Such can never happen again. Some yorubas were deceived by the hypocrisy of Peter obi and "obidients." In 2027, Tinubu will be declared winner before the election begins. Only that you have blocked head, I have told you before that Tinubu is not who the entire Arewa can threaten. He is a master for hell -rufia and Atiku
True that to the bolded.
But it's NOT over yet because in politics, anything can still happen.
ONLY good governance through the reduction in the costs of goods and services, and most importantly, the total elimination of the insecurity situation by deploying jet fighters, surveillance and attack drones including military boots on the ground to assist the States in totally bombing out the foreign Fulani herdsmen and bandits from other West African countries who have irresponsibly invaded many Nigerian indigenous communities especially in the far Northern and Middle Belt of Nigeria and renamed those communities to Fulani names right in parts of Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Benue State, Zamfara, Katsina, etc, will endear President Bola Tinubu more to Nigerians who will then be able to go back to their farms and easily ensure his landslide victory.
Anything short of this, he WILL struggle a bit to win reelection if he decides to favor the minority Fulani political hegemony gangs (who are far less than the Hausas, the Yorubas, the Edos, and several ethnic groups in Nigeria who they have lorded it over right from British Colonial rule and military rule through subterfuge) and encouraged their foreign Fulani cousins to go on rampage killing people WITHOUT punishing them but instead Nasir El-Rufai paid these foreign Fulani bandits millions of Naira after they had killed hundred of innocent Southern Kaduna people!
