PoliticsRe: Ekiti To Upgrade State’s Tourism Destinations To World-Class Standards by Konquest: 2:23am On Apr 22, 2025
AngelGabbyShara:
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has restated the commitment of his administration to transforming the state’s tourism destinations into world-class attractions

Governor Oyebanji stated this on Monday during the 7th edition of Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari which took place at Sagbonke Mountain (Aka. Mountain of Cloud), in Efon Alaaye Ekiti.

Describing tourism as a vital sector of the economy, the Governor said if properly harnessed they could significantly enhance the state’s revenue base, adding that his administration remains committed to prioritizing the renovation and modernization of the sites to attract both local and international visitors.

Expressing his amazement at the breath-taking natural beauty of the Sagbonke mountain, Governor Oyebanji described the location as a hidden treasure with immense potential to attract global attention.

He directed the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, Investment and Cooperatives; Commissioner Arts and Culture as well as the Director-General , Bureau of Tourism Development to develop a comprehensive investment plan for the mountain.

While expressing optimism that Ekiti would soon take its pride of place among Nigeria’s leading tourist destinations, the Governor urged Stakeholders, including investors and cultural custodians to collaborate with his government to achieve the vision of making Ekiti a global tourism hotspot.

"I thank God for all the endowment he has blessed us with. The last speaker said this place was discovered four years ago and I keep asking myself what have we been doing with our endowment. God has given us what can fetch us money. I was talking to the Commissioner for Investment that how do we turn these assets around, this is a massive asset for Ekiti State, and Efon people are noted for self-development, and I am throwing this challenge back to you, this asset should not be wasted, Let us sit down and collaborate with government and find a way of developing this place.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director General, Bureau of Tourism Development, Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre commended the Governor for his passion, commitment, and visionary efforts in transforming the state’s tourism landscape into world-class tourist destinations and his strategic approach to harnessing the state’s unique attraction for economic growth.

Describing the state’s rich cultural heritage, natural wonders, and serene environment as unparalleled assets, the DG expressed optimism that with the Governor’s ongoing initiatives, Ekiti State would soon become a must-visit destination for travelers around the world

Also at the event were, the lawmaker, representing Efon Alaaye, Hon Olowookere Bosede, Commissioner for Trade, Mrs Tayo Adeola, Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Prof Ojo Bakare, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, among others.

@GoSeeIkogosi (on IG) was voted in two straight years in a row (2023 and 2024) as the BEST holiday resort for tourists in the whole of Nigeria.

That's Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort and Conference Center located in Ekiti West LGA which is absolutely impressive.
This is one of the main reasons why the new Ekiti State International Cargo Airport in Ado Ekiti makes a whole lot of sense as it's been constructed to also handle air passenger traffic and tourists, investors, business folks, and thousands of folks of Ekiti State descent living and working in the Diaspora (North America, Europe, Southern Africa, etc] can then fly right into Ekiti State from the Lagos Airports or from elsewhere.
BusinessRe: He Told Me He Sent Me ₦2.1 Million, But This Is How I Knew The Receipt Was Fake! by Konquest: 9:45pm On Apr 20, 2025
maureensylvia:
Sometime earlier this month, around past 7am, just as I was heading out to drop my kids at school, I got a call.

The person claimed someone referred him to me. He said his boss, a senator, urgently needed bags of rice for a birthday giveaway to prisoners and motherless babies. Sounds noble, right?

I gave him the price.

By 8:10am, he requested my account details.

Barely 10 minutes later, he forwarded a transaction receipt of N2.1 million and began calling repeatedly, urging me to send the goods immediately.

He said, “We trusted you enough to pay before seeing you. Please trust us back and send the rice now. We need it urgently.”

But something didn’t sit right with me.

Thankfully, I zoomed in on the receipt and noticed a tiny detail that didn’t match up.

I'll share the major difference here

I forwarded the receipt to my account officer, and guess what?

It was a fake alert.

I quietly thanked God and smiled. Because if I had moved by emotions, pressure, or excitement, I would have lost both goods and capital.

In business, emotion is expensive. Wisdom and structure will save you from tears.
The scammer is an amateur in the game. This is a very old format of scamming unsuspecting people that's been around for years. Due diligence is key when engaging in all business transactions. Keep your eyes on the fine details. Period.
CrimeRe: 77-Year-Old Nigerian Uber Driver, Olatunji Bolaji, Shot Dead In US by Konquest:
teekrackz:
A 77-year-old Nigerian Uber driver, Olatunji W. Bolaji, was killed in a shooting outside a hookah lounge in Philadelphia, United States.

Bolaji, who lived in Norristown, Pennsylvania, was on duty around 2 a.m. on Wednesday when he picked up a passenger, a 22-year-old man, outside the Byblos Hookah Bar near Rittenhouse Square in Centre City, CBS reports on Friday.

Police said shortly after Bolaji picked up the young man, another vehicle pulled up behind his SUV, and two men got out.

One of them opened fire, shooting both Bolaji and the passenger.

Despite being shot in the head, Bolaji managed to drive a short distance before crashing into a pole at 17th and Chestnut Streets.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, who sustained gunshot wounds to the arm, leg, and stomach, was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.

Police say the shooting was captured on surveillance cameras, and the attackers were in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee believed to have Massachusetts number plates.

Authorities are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators believe there may have been a physical altercation between the passenger and the suspects before the shooting.

I hope the United States criminal justice system will catch up with the idiots who shot this hardworking 77-year-old "blood" in Philly who despite his age, was only looking to make more income for his daily survival (without getting involved in any shady activities).

My respects and deep condolence to his entire fam.

Back when shagari was a young man , most Nigerians did not go to university

Indeed most people did not go to university back when shagari was young. University was a privilege, and was very expensive.

( Some stats for you..less than 7 % of Americans went to university or college by 1961, In the UK it was 2%)

For a man of his generation, Shagari was well educated. (Balewa had a similar grade 2 cert and spoke English in received pronouncation and was quite educated and could even hold an intelligent discussion with jfk and give a brilliant address to the UN and he never had a bsc.). Especially when very few Nigerians could even afford secondary education.

In 1991, the university educated kinnock of the labour party UK lost to John Major of the conservatives. John Major never went to university or even did a levels, he left school after form 4 to work for the newspapers, so I guess UK chose an illiterate too, especially since Shagari had relatively higher qualifications.

Lord Callaghan was prime minister in the late 70s. He took never went to university either. He left school at 17 and became a clerk...
Succinctly stated.

Tafawa Balewa and Alhaji Shehu Shagari, GCFR, were indeed well-spoken with great diction back in the day. I recall that the only perceived weakness that Shagari had was that he was a bit laid back and seen to be easily teleguided by other powerful hawks in government such as Umaru Dikko who called the shots and more.

On the other end of the spectrum, Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, was a brilliant UK-educated lawyer who graduated from the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science as a lawyer
and he performed brilliantly in terms of massive infrastructure, a television station, industrial estates including Ikeja and Olusegun industrial estates, free education and more with his team in the Old Western Region which then included 95 percent of the landmass of todays Lagos State, Edo State, and Delta State in the 1950s as the Premier.

However it's important for folks aspiring to political and leadership roles in the New Economy age we live in to engage continuous education so as NOT to get fossilized thinking because life is a continuous educational journey while also surrounding themselves with brilliant teams of advisers and mentors.

On the other hand, they MUST be open to new ideas and innovations in order to thrive and deliver on sustainable results for the good of all.

PoliticsRe: IMF: Nigeria Will Navigate Global Shocks Due To Tinubu’s Reforms by Konquest: 1:16pm On Apr 20, 2025
femisplash:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says Nigeria will navigate global shocks due to the reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu.

Axel Schimmelpfennig, IMF mission chief for Nigeria, spoke during a visit to Lagos and Abuja from April 2 to 15, where he led a delegation to hold discussions for the 2025 Article IV Consultations with Nigeria.

The team met with Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy; Abubakar Kyari, minister of agriculture and food security; Yemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); ministry of environment and other stakeholders in the private sector, academia, labour unions, and civil society.

In a statement by the IMF, Schimmelpfennig said authorities had taken “important steps” to stabilise the economy, enhance resilience, and support growth.

The steps, he noted, include ending the CBN’s financing of the fiscal deficit, removing costly petrol subsidy, and improving the functioning of the foreign exchange market.

“The Nigerian authorities have taken important steps to stabilise the economy, enhance resilience, and support growth,” Schimmelpfennig said.

“The financing of the fiscal deficit by the central bank has ceased, costly fuel subsidies were removed, and the functioning of the foreign exchange market has improved. Gains have yet to benefit all Nigerians as poverty and food insecurity remain high.

”The outlook is marked by significant uncertainty. Elevated global risk sentiment and lower oil prices impact the Nigerian economy.

“The reforms since 2023 have put the Nigerian economy in a better position to navigate this external environment. Looking ahead, macroeconomic policies need to further strengthen buffers and resilience, while creating enabling conditions for private sector-led growth.

“The authorities communicated to the mission that they will implement the 2025 budget in a manner that is responsive to the decline in international oil prices.”

TIGHT MONETARY POLICY REQUIRED TO CURB INFLATION’

The IMF official also recommended a neutral fiscal stance to support monetary policy in bringing down inflation.

He added that fiscal savings from petrol subsidy reforms should be channelled into the national budget to protect critical investments.

Schimmelpfennig further advised that the CBN maintain a tight monetary policy stance to curb inflation.

“In particular, adjustments should protect critical, growth-enhancing investment, while accelerating and broadening the delivery of cash transfers under the World Bank-supported program to provide relief to those experiencing food insecurity,” he said.

“A tight monetary policy stance is required to firmly guide inflation down.”

Schimmelpfennig said the monetary policy committee’s data-dependent approach has served Nigeria well and will help navigate elevated macroeconomic uncertainty.

https://www.thecable.ng/imf-nigeria-will-navigate-global-shocks-due-to-tinubus-reforms/
The subsidy removal and restoration of refineries operations were definitely necessary because Nigeria was living in a fool's paradise and spending the money it didn't have on useless subsidies, BUT ultimately, it's MOST important to focus more on gas exploitation and export to earn FX revenues since Nigeria is more of a huge gas nation more than it is a crude oil nation.

The cheaper CNG should also be the fulcrum for crashing the cost of transportation and commodities haulage from the farm gates to the end buyers so as to drive down hyperinflation and minimize the punishing pain a significant number of folks over there in Nigeria are facing in terms of the high cost of food, medications, transportation, etc.

If the people too are wise enough, they would immediately begin to learn more about financial literacy strategies to prevent any cyclical local and global economic recessions that will definitely come in the future and affect their lives. There have been 2 past economic recessions in Nigeria and also global economic recessions in 2008 and the Covid-19 global economic disaster, yet a vast number of people NEVER planned their personal finances to mitigate the effects of future economic downturns. ONLY those who are prepared financially in terms of financial education will always survive and NOT blame the political establishment, wealthy folks, and others for their own highly unwise mistakes of not planning ahead against future economic shocks. Period.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNybZdhZFaQ

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed's "illogical logic" was all over the place in his recent interview with a television channel. He peddled arguments that were flawed, devoid of reason and empty.

He must have as well dropped from space, going by what he spewed out during the interview.

Listening to Yusuf Datti Baba- Ahmed spurn his postulations about the political future of Nigeria and that of the incumbent President is like listening to the new year predictions of charlatan ‘prophets’ which never come through. Yusuf Baba Ahmed and his co-traveller Peter Obi are indeed a “double whammy“ in the Nigerian political space.

If listening to a Peter Obi interview was a punishment, listening to Baba-Ahmed, his defunct running mate, is a torment. His political logic is not fit for even a first-year political science class, and even then, they will query his postulations. He chose to base his political calculations on President Bola Tinubu not winning a second term given his antecedents and because Nigerians will decide at the polls among other things. He conveniently avoided the substance of performance and capacity.

Unfortunately, he chose to walk into a lane he was unfamiliar with and chose to confront a politician he is no match for. If theories could fly, Yusuf Baba Ahmed and all the other Presidential Wannabes (PW) could have become President since. But Politics is not for theorists or the faint hearted nor the parochial.

Politics is for those with a solid track record of performance, the courageous, far-sighted and gifted. Qualities he clearly lacks.

Another thing Baba Ahmed lacks is the capacity for honesty, because that is the only way to describe his claim that President Tinubu is not fulfilling his campaign promises. The positive impacts of the tough choices the President Tinubu has made in the interest of the country are already being felt, and the economic indices are there to prove this. Even the IMF recently acknowledged - "Tinubu's Reforms have put the economy in a better position to navigate this external environment.." Schimmelpfennig.

In 2027, Baba Ahmed and the other PWs will need all the marines available to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who in about two years has demonstrated his capacity to govern and to re-engineer Nigeria in a way hitherto unknown. Tinubu will win comfortably in 2027, no matter the volume of armchair theories and political conspiracies. His performance will clear the path.

So, instead of running the circuit of television networks to peddle his poorly thought-out conjectures, Baba Ahmed should seriously consider how to rehabilitate his failed political career, an intervention he urgently needs. And if Datti Baba-Ahmed is smart he will simply keep quiet and leave politics for those equipped for that complicated art.

Nigeria is a joke, the politicians only care about personal ego gratification and looting, they use the rest of the time in office playing politics and positioning their party to win next election.

Nigerians are in soup, this money politics system will destroy Nigeria if not changed.
The capital punishment has to take MAXIMUM effect in all cases of deliberate murder to send a strong message. The criminal justice system over there in Nigeria is annoyingly slow tbh. Why the court case involving that highly notorious armed robber and kidnapper from Anambra State called Chukwudume Onwuamadike (nicknamed Evans) and his gang hasn't been concluded after over 7 years despite overwhelming evidence absolutely beats my imagination!

This same criminal called Chukwudume robbed, kidnapped and killed innocent people in Lagos State, Edo State, Anambra State, and other parts of the South East where he was initially based and got involved in violent armed robberies from his early 20s before including kidnapping of people for huge ransom.

I read online in 2025 that the same criminal kidnapper (who pretended to be a legitimate person while hiding within the elite Magodo Estate where senior retired and serving Lagos State officials, wealthy elite lawyers and business folks have landed property and live) is now asking for clemency through his so-called lawyer. Where is the justice for his victims here? I hope the courts follow through on this case, and that of the Reverend King who was also sentenced to death by the court but that hasn't been carried out yet.

PRESS RELEASE

‎MURDER: NPF COMPLETES EXTRADITION OF BENJAMIN BEST NNAYEREUGO ALIAS "KILLABOI" TO FACE CHARGES

‎As IGP Appreciates AGF, INTERPOL, Assures of Diligent Prosecution

‎The Nigeria Police Force has successfully completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, male, widely known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria. The fugitive, who had been on the run for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, was returned to the country in the early hours of today, Saturday, 19th April 2025, through the coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters Abuja and the Qatari Judicial Authorities.‎

‎The extradition followed a petition from the family of the deceased, submitted through their legal representatives dated 29th September 2024. The matter was assigned to INTERPOL NCB Abuja for investigation. Investigations revealed that the suspect, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence located at No. 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on 13th July 2023. After committing the crime, he fled Nigeria and later released an online video purporting to confess to the act, a deceptive strategy to derail investigative efforts.

‎Following his declaration as wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on 13th October 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension. He was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 20th October 2023 under the false identity “KANU PRINCETON SAMUEL,” but escaped custody during a prison break on 26th November 2023 in Feeetown.

‎Further intelligence gathering revealed that the suspect continued to evade law enforcement, traversing multiple regions including West Africa, East Asia and the Middle East, under forged identities before eventually relocating to Doha, Qatar on 24th January, 2025. Operating under the alias “TOURE ABDOULAYE” with a fraudulent Guinean passport, he secured illegal employment and concealed his identity.

‎Through robust international cooperation and the use of advanced biometrics, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Doha, confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025. An official extradition request, processed via the Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, was subsequently approved by the Qatari judicial authorities, resulting in his repatriation to Nigeria.

‎The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, while recognising the strength in the synergy amongst nations to curb trans-border crimes, commended the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and extended sincere appreciation to the Honorable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their invaluable collaboration in securing the fugitive’s return.

‎The Inspector-General of Police further assured the general public of the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to ensuring that the suspect faces diligent prosecution, as part of the NPF’s dedication to justice and the safety of all Nigerians.

It's indeed strange that the now President Bola Tinubu was instrumental in successively supporting 3 people of minority Fulani ethnic origin to contest for the Presidency in the past, yet some of the same Fulanis including Atiku Abubakar (who he supported), Nasir El-Rufai,
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed (who is of Fulah paternal origin from Mauritania) are relentlessly plotting his massive downfall. The Fulanis are NOT more than 24 million in population in all the West African countries they claim to be citizens of [The indigenous Hausas of Nigeria and Niger Republic, and the indigenous Yorubas of Nigeria, Benin Republic, and Togo are over 80 million in population each for instance yet this minority ethnic group uses subterfuge to politically oppress larger Nigerian ethnic groups through allowing banditry by their Nomadic Fulani cousins migrating from West African countries] and the Fulanis are a minority ethnic group in many of these West African countries who are originally of paternal Berber Umayyad North African origin who fled back to North Africa, invaded West Africa and then destroyed the existing indigenous empire they met in West Africa, after the Spanish and Portuguese armies had heavily defeated and expelled them from the rest of Spain in the year 1492 (the Berber Umayyads Islamic dynasty of Morocco had earlier invaded, and colonized Spain which they named Al-Andalus for over 700 years till 1492). The DNA testing results of all the male and female Fulanis that I have seen over the years also prove this FACT about the Fulani origin being from North African Berber paternal origin. If Bola Tinubu and Nigerians are very wise, urgently dismantling the minority Fulani (Fulah) political stranglehold and hegemony on Nigeria must be activated now through the political restructuring of Nigeria to totally eliminate the illegal invasion of Nigeria by foreign killer Fulani herders and bandits from the countries of the West African Sahel region, while combining political and social restructuring with good governance in Nigeria. That's how the current President in Nigeria can win the hearts of the people. Period.

BusinessRe: How CBEX Promoters Used EFCC, CAC Certificates To Deceive 600,000 Investors by Konquest:
adenigga:
More details have emerged on how promoters of the fraudulent Ponzi scheme, Crypto Bridge Exchange, aka CBEX, convinced hundreds of thousands of investors to put money into the trading platform.

CBEX, a digital investment platform, offered investors 100 per cent profit after 30 days of purported AI trading.

No fewer than 600,000 Nigerians reportedly invested in the scheme and lost N1.3tn after it collapsed on Monday.

Findings by Saturday PUNCH revealed that the promoters of the platform operated under a company registered as ST Technologies International Limited.

ST Technologies was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission on September 25, 2024, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering on January 16, 2025.

Copies of the certificates were obtained by our correspondents.

One of the documents was titled, ‘Certificate of Increase in Issued Share Capital of ST Technologies International Limited Company Registration No. 7955973.’

It read, “The Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission hereby certifies that pursuant to the resolution and notice of increase in share capital dated 4th December 2024, and presented for filing on 5th December 2024, in respect of the above-named company, the increase in share capital from N1,000,000 to N201,000,000—by the creation of 200,000,000 ordinary shares of N1 each and preference shares of N0 each—has been registered with the commission. Given under my hand at Abuja this 17th day of December 2024.”

Similarly, the EFCC’s certificate of January 16, 2025, stated, “ST Technologies International Limited has been duly registered in accordance with the provisions of Section 17(2)(a) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022, and any other applicable law or regulation.”

Some of the victims, who spoke to Saturday PUNCH, said the registration certificates gave them confidence that the scheme was authentic.

“They were also doing charity, hospital outreach, paying hospital bills… it was a coordinated approach,” an investor who asked not to be identified said.

A check on the CAC’s website confirmed that the company remained active, though Saturday PUNCH could not access the names of its board of directors.

Open-source intelligence platforms such as NgCheck, B2BHint, and Finelib did not display the company’s address, board members, and other critical information.

A video clip from a Nigerian television station, ITV, identified one Adefowora Abiodun as the leader of ST Technologies International Limited, while another official, Oluwanisola Adefowora, was introduced as the company’s representative in Nigeria.

In the footage, the duo encouraged Nigerians to invest in the scheme and invite others to join, claiming it would help improve their standard of living.

“With the help of ST, you will not lose money. All you need to do is just to follow the order. They give advice; go in that direction. They are a group of analysts based in the United Kingdom,” Adefowora said.

The video was recorded on February 10, 2025 during the inauguration of the firm’s Abuja office attended by a crowd.

CBEX marketing strategies

Sources who spoke to Saturday PUNCH said promoters of the trading platform recruited some influencers and radio presenters as brand ambassadors.

The team also established offices in some major parts of the country, including Abuja, Lagos, and Ibadan, and embarked on marketing via radio and social media platforms.

Some of the radio stations that aired the Ponzi scheme programme included Orisun FM, Ile-Ife, Osun State, and three other radio stations in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Nigerian investors also embarked on marketing in schools and churches and held giveaways.

These marketing strategies enabled the trading platform representatives to convince even the poor and illiterate individuals to invest in the scheme.

In a five-minute programme promoting CBEX on Orisun FM, one of the officials claimed that the platform could lift many Nigerians out of poverty.

“This scheme is for everyone. Even those selling herbal mixtures, those selling on the roadside, and the petty traders can invest with us. Those selling pepper and those selling vegetables in the market can also join us,” he said.

“We want everyone to join us because our intention is to make life easier for Nigerian people. We want to take them from suffering and hardships,” another stated on the programme.

Acting on the backlash from netizens, the OSBC management issued a statement, saying the presenter of the programme had been sanctioned.

Top Nigerians lose money

On Friday, a video clip of popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, aka Taye Currency, lamenting his hard luck with CBEX went viral.

In the clip, Adebisi said he lost N10m to the platform and heaped curses on his associates who introduced him to it.

The Fuji star said, “On April 1, Sodiq came to my house and said Lateef, the brand manager, had collected some money and also introduced Alaba and Small London had also collected their money, and Brother Muca

“Alaba used N1.2m he stole from the stage to invest in CBEX. Brother Muca also put in his work fee of N500,000. Sodiq used the money he was saving in the band, N850,000. Lateef invested N1.4 million.”

'I lost N10m investment in CBEX,' Fuji musician Taye Currency laments
The singer revealed that it was the success of his associates in the scheme that made him invest in it as well.

“Lateef said he used N200,000 to collect N600,000, and I got motivated. I withdrew the money I had saved with insurance, see my life in the open. I invested N10m in CBEX on April 1, but everything vanished,” he stated.

But aside from Taye Currency, Saturday PUNCH gathered that several other celebrities invested in the scheme but could not come open with their losses.

A source claimed he introduced a Divisional Police Officer to the scheme, adding that the senior police officer had been inconsolable since the collapse of the platform.

We sold property, took loans for CBEX – Victims

CBEX accepted only dollar-denominated transactions and provided referral bonuses to encourage user growth.

Saturday PUNCH gathered from some investors that the minimum trading amount was $100, which matured for cash-out with profit after 30 days.

A victim said after he opened an account with CBEX, he was asked to copy and paste the account ID and that of the person who introduced him to the Ponzi scheme into the ST Customer Support and ST Signal support groups on Telegram.

According to him, he was asked to link his CBEX account with Bybit under the pretext of preventing hackers from clearing his asset.

“I invested $312 on April 3, and as of April 15, I already had $623 in my wallet. They were giving us bonuses and the money kept increasing. I still don’t believe my money is gone,” he stated.

A serving policeman in Osun State said he sold his car and invested the proceeds, amounting to N3.2m, into CBEX.

The police inspector had earlier in March invested $300 and cashed out N783,000 after six weeks.

Gripped by the turnover, he gathered more money, sold his car, and invested the proceeds in the scheme two weeks before the crash.

“It was a stupid mistake I would never make again,”
the distressed cop said.

He noted that he received bonuses in dollars for every new joiner he introduced to the platform, which made him market the scheme to many others.

“The more people I registered on CBEX, the more bonuses I got, and I wanted to continue making more money. So, I encouraged a lot of people to join. Before it crashed, nine people had joined CBEX through me. It is a shame I can’t bear now.”

Another police officer serving with the Lagos State Command disclosed that he lost N4.8m to the Ponzi scheme.

“Is it a good thing to talk about? The person who referred you to me already told you I lost N4.8m, so what else do you want to know?” said the angry policeman.

It was gathered that the police sergeant collected rent from his tenants in his house at Ikorodu and invested it in CBEX.

Also, a skit maker in Ilorin attempted suicide after it dawned on him that the platform had crashed.

According to him, he invested N23m with the hope of making N50m in six weeks.

Speaking with Saturday PUNCH through TikTok on Thursday, the skit maker said, “I was convinced by my friend who joined CBEX last year and had been cashing out big time. He had made a lot of money there. I joined the platform three weeks ago and invested N23m with the hope of getting N50m in six weeks.

“CBEX used to give us bonuses every Sunday, depending on the amount you had. There was also a bonus for bringing new members.

“But the platform crashed and I don’t know how I considered taking poison. I thank God I survived because when there is life, there is hope.

“The most painful thing is that I wanted to use about N15m out of the money to buy a car, but everything is gone now.”

Another victim, who identified himself as Shola, said he took a N500,000 loan to invest in CBEX.

“CBEX was introduced to me by my friend, and I felt I stood a chance to become a millionaire within a short period. I obtained a loan from one of the money lenders, believing that I would make enough profit to pay the debt and also continue my investment after a month. I am now in debt,” Shola stated.

“I thought it wasn’t a bad idea if I sold my car, which had already developed a mechanical fault, and invested the proceeds in CBEX. I was expecting a return of about N7m, which I planned to use to buy a new car,” another investor said.

These stories in the article are just tame excuses being pulled out of thin air. There's a popular philosophical mantra which says: "Man, know thyself."

It’s the inherent "greed and lack of due diligence" in the human animal that was at play here leading to these so-called investment loses. Greed is a global human weakness so you must learn to tame it and become aware of yourself!

It’s also obvious from reading this article that the promoters of this pyramid scheme didn't have a full grasp of what investing is all about because the percentage returns of 100% after 30 days offered is way too high! That's a recipe for a quick collapse of any investment program. This is why background checks and due diligence are very important.

Even though there are certified professional assets managers in major financial centers of the world with billions of USD of AUM, ultimately, people have to learn about the various aspects of "financial literacy" and get properly trained via credible training programs in order to be able to trade and invest for themselves and NOT depend on others with opaque backgrounds to trade and/or invest for them in these insidious ponzi or pyramid schemes that have been in existence in various forms for many decades worldwide. You CANNOT be a professional pilot, health care worker, investment banker, elite athlete, professional car or long-distance truck driver, etc, without having professional training. Period.
PoliticsRe: Nepotism Under Buhari Worse Than Tinubu’s Government  —  Shehu Sani by Konquest: 7:58am On Apr 18, 2025
iwaeda:
Amid the accusation of nepotism against President Bola Tinubu’s administration, former federal lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani said that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government committed worse nepotism.

President Tinubu’s administration has been heavily criticised lately, particularly by northern politicians, who strongly believe his appointments are largely skewed in favour of his home region, the southwest.

In a recent interview, Ali Ndume, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, accused the president of running a ‘non-inclusive’ government, saying his political appointments do not reflect the federal character principle.

However, on Thursday, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sani countered the nepotism allegation against Tinubu, arguing that the Buhari administration was worse in terms of favouritism.

It is clear the nation has a very short memory, and then we simply forget what happened the last time Buhari was in power. What was the profile of nepotism at that time? He asked.

Sani recalled that during the ex-president’s administration, about 30 federal appointments were given to people from Katsina, Buhari’s state.

“The DG of SSS, Daura was from Katsina state, the DG of NIA, Rufai was from Katsina state, the MPA, my sister Hadiza, she’s from Katsina state, Director of Federal Mortgage Bank, Katsina state, SMEDAN, Katsina state, FRCN Katsina state, NIMET Katsina state, NIMASA Katsina state, Railway Corporation, Katsina state, all those things, you don’t talk of Chairman of federal civil service about 30 (of them) We don’t have time, I can state all of them. All from Katsina state,” he said.

To further prove his point, the former lawmaker said most military and para-military appointments were skewed in favour of the northern region.

“At a certain time in this country, the Controller General of Immigration, which is Babendede, is from northern Nigeria. Customs, Hamid Ali is from northern Nigeria, Civil Defense, Audi is from northern Nigeria, Chairman of Federal Road Safety Corps is from northern Nigeria. Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba is from northern Nigeria, the Chief of Nava staff.

Sani also questioned the moral stand of Tinubu’s critics, saying they kept quiet when nepotism perpetrated by Buhari favoured them.

“I will appreciate the morality of your position if I can hear your voice when you’re on man from your tribe, from your ethnic group and from your own tribal identity by perpetrating those evil attitude against it. And when you keep quiet when it favored you, and now you speak out when it doesn’t favor you,” he said.

While admitting that two wrongs do not make a right, he warned Tinubu to be careful. He said the President does not have to toe the line because his predecessor filled major positions with people from his state and region.

Asonaijaaso:
The $2.5 trillion wipeout in the S&P 500 would have ripple effects on Nigeria’s economy:

1. Oil Prices: The slowdown in global growth due to tariffs could decrease demand for oil, leading to lower oil prices — a direct blow to Nigeria’s oil-dependent economy.

2. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI): With rising global uncertainty, investors may pull back from emerging markets like Nigeria. The prospect of a US recession would deter investment in Nigeria’s non-oil sectors.

3. Inflation Pressure: The devaluation of the dollar globally and disrupted supply chains could drive inflation in Nigeria, increasing the cost of imported goods and affecting the already fragile purchasing power.

4. Remittances: A potential US recession may affect Nigerians living abroad, reducing remittances, which make up a significant portion of Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves.

5. Dollar Shortages: As the US dollar weakens or fluctuates, Nigeria, already struggling with a dollar shortage, may face more severe FX crises, worsening import costs.

The US-China tariff war would likely trigger global economic deceleration, making it harder for Nigeria to meet its growth targets and increasing the risk of an economic downturn.
True that.

Afternoon sir,

You are forgiven for the temporary blip in the quality of your post as regards errors that you stated, very understandable considering what you are rightfully raging about.

I didn't realise that the multi talented "Wounded Civilians" was of royal extraction, be that as it may, I also see the good work he puts in helping to fight off the menace of the people I term IPOBidients.

In fact, those troll farms you mention do exist, the aforementioned "Wounded civilians" has a video of an idiot Uhunmwode boy called Destiny who couldn't defend his needless incentive laden pro IPOB Anti Tinubu diatribe.

Clearly money had exchanged hands because I am familiar with Uhunmwode and some if it's people's and there is nothing that will link that LG to the Ndigbo Biafran fight. That foolish boy didn't confess on camera but I hope the police eventually extracted a full confession from him regarding the monies that exchanged hands, and from whom, to make him produce the foolish video he did.

I actually think their new tactic is to be so unbearable to others in their imbecility that they will get the secession they want. They now see walking a path of truth as a needless hindrance to their objective.

Whilst the moderation quality here is at an all time low, at exactly the point where it should be the other way round, my hope is that Seun will create a Biafran/Obidient subgroup for them to gorge themselves and let the rest of us discuss contemporary stuff in peace.

The idle IPOBidient mind truly is the playground of the devil.
@aswani

Absolutely well said. Thank you for saying it as it is about the overbearing and highly toxic attitudes of those paid secessionist trolls (who vowed and threatened in highly IRRESPONSIBLE online posts and in videos over the years that they were going to chase the Oba of Benin back to Ile Ife [where they claim his direct male ancestor (Oranmiyan) came from after annexing Benin and Edo into their delusional "biafra,"] because of the warped and FALSE claim by these creeps that the formerly named "Igodomigodo" now historically known as Benin in Edo State is part of a fictional "Iboland" which is a total fabrication of history by illiterates. This is one of the major reasons why Prince Akenzua and other folks got really pissed off and made videos warning these Ibo ipob members about direct and dire retaliatory actions from Binis and Edo folks in general.

It shouldn't be any different on NL, I don't know your reason/reasons for disabling the deactivate option but please bring it back.

Sometimes you just want a clean and permanent break from the distractions and toxicity of social media. Can I send the NL monikers to your usual email, SeunOsewa AT Gmail.com?

As a veteran member of Nairaland for 20 years now since 2005, I can CLEARLY tell you that there are many "paid ipob online troll farms" here on NL with well-known and fake NL monikers who ALSO use FB, X, YouTube, WhatsApp, etc, to deliberately spread FABRICATED lies, massive disinformation, derailing threads, and promoting toxic hate speech with the intention to destabilize Nigeria and trigger ethnic tensions and a Civil War. They are still very active on NL (even with the use of your newest policy this month to clean up this Website) throwing insulting ethnic slurs for years at Yoruba folks [Yaribanza is an ethnic slur on Yorubas meaning "Yoruba bas.tard" with "banza" meaning "bas.tard or illegitimate" in Hausa language, BUT this slur was coined and is used online by ONLY a lot of male and female ipob sympathizers here on NL, YouTube and other online platforms] and you have to immediately censor that slur word on NL. "Thief.nubu, druggie, Iragbiji druggie, Pablo, etc," are some other slur words used to insult President Tinubu and those have to be sensored as well.

The 2022 "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video right BELOW which you have to watch and download it for keeps ALSO CLEARLY exposed the FACT that ipob recruited several members who are "paid online troll farms" in Nigeria, South Africa, Europe, North America and gave them thousands of free laptops, mobile phones and free Internet data to use in spreading massive disinformation and hate speech on multiple online platforms.

Right BELOW is the MAJOR reason why Nairaland has been relentlessly assaulted with toxic hate speech cyberbullying and massive disinformation by Ibo trolls since 2013/2014.

I have come to the realization that people that doesn’t have money to join are the ones trying to discourage people that want to join.
The way Cbex works is very simple. When you join with a minimum of $100, you are entitled to 2 trading signals daily. If you didn’t miss any trading signals, you earn 100% your capital in approximately 35days. That’s, if you joined with $100, in 35days, you get $200 which you can withdraw. The withdrawal takes less than 5mins. But if you decided to withdraw your money (capital) before you compete your trading circle, you will lose about 20% of your money.

From the little I have been able to gather so far. I think CBEX trades with our money using AI which gives close to 100% accuracy. And at the end of the day, they pay you about 2% daily compound interest of your capital.
@ibabz

Your very adamant post here cracked me up. Lol. grin

This is why it's ALWAYS good to do your due diligence and listen to other folks such as the well-informed guy who started this thread when you are WARNED over these sorts of Ponzi investment schemes.

Instead of giving your money (or borrowed money with high interest rates) to others to invest on your behalf, it's better to learn how to trade and invest on your own after going for professional training from credible sources that already have testimonials from real trainees or students worldwide. Learn to be a "trading or investment God" yourself through financial literacy. To be an aircraft pilot, car driver, an accountant and auditor, healthcare professional, etc, you have to go through professional training and get mentored. It's the same with investing as well. Disregard all the false claims and noise about CBEX having started operations many years ago; it's all lies

Cbex began its operations less than 6months ago, and I believe it will crash sooner than expected (mark my words)

All new users on CBex must wait a minimum of 35 days before they can make their first withdrawal. This policy allows the platform to attract more users while utilizing their funds to pay existing members

The Cbex domain name was registered in September 2024, but they did not begin operations immediately. Contrary to some claims that they have been active since 2023 or January 2024, these statements are misleading. Such assertions are made to attract more users, allowing existing members to withdraw their funds while leaving newcomers to face the consequences.

Response To Peter Obi On His Attack Against President Tinubu and Politicisation of Recent Plateau Killings

Dear Peter Obi,

I am very curious as to why you blamed then-Governor Nasir el-Rufai for the Southern Kaduna Genocide that occurred under his watch. In your various posts on that issue, you specifically targeted the Chief Security Officer of Kaduna. I challenge you to fact-check me by persuading your past posts. Your focus was el-Rufai, not then President Buhari.

But now that there has been a skirmish in Plateau, you are blaming, attacking and criticising President Bola TInubu, instead of Governor Caleb Mutfwang. Why the disparity? Why the double standards?

Is it because Nasir el-Rufai is a Muslim and Caleb Mutfwang is a Christian? Is this part of your "religious war" against Muslims from your leaked 'Yes Daddy' audio?

Do not take out the embarrassment of being banned from Benue on President Tinubu. Nigeria has a hierarchical governance structure. The vice President is in Nigeria, and the government is functioning optimally.

Moreover, immediately after the Plateau incident, the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, was there, and the Inspector General of Police was also there yesterday.

This is a marked difference from the Buhari era

After seventy-three people were killed by herdsmen in Benue during the Yuletide of 2017, General Buhari ordered his Inspector of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to relocate to Benue to fish out the killers and end the killings.

But the killings continued. And continued. Until General Buhari himself was forced to relocate to Benue State on Monday, March 12, 2018. Only while there did he discover that his IGP had never obeyed his order.

At a meeting with some survivors, Buhari said, "I’m not aware that the I-G did not spend 24 hours in the state as directed by me; I am getting to know this in this meeting.”

When you contrast that with what has occurred under President Tinubu, you see a responsive government this time around.

Peter, enough is enough. Stop being an Agbotikuyo!

This fits your pattern, Peter. If it occurs in the North or Southwest, you will dance naked in public and cry about injustice, government negligence, and societal decay. But if it happens in Igboland, you, Bitter Obi, the man in love with black mourning clothes, will suddenly become deaf, blind, and dumb.

Or am I lying?
