🇺🇦 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday that he was “ready” to resign as leader if it meant it brought peace to his country, suggesting he could swap it for NATO membership.

Asked at a press conference if he was ready to quit if it ensures peace for Ukraine, Zelensky said: “If [it guarantees] peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to resign, I am ready. I can exchange it for NATO.”

The Ukrainian president previously said his country’s army will need to double in size if NATO denies it membership to the alliance. Earlier this month, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that Kyiv joining NATO was unrealistic.

Zelensky’s comments follow an escalating spat between Zelensky and Donald Trump after the US president falsely accused Ukraine of starting the conflict. Trump later admitted “Russia attacked” but blamed predecessor Joe Biden and Zelensky for not stopping the fighting sooner.

When Zelensky hit back – accusing the US president of being in a “disinformation space” – Trump called Zelensky a “dictator,” straining ties at a pivotal moment in the conflict. US and Russian officials met in Saudi Arabia this week for “exploratory” talks about how to end the war but left Kyiv to watch from afar, sparking panic from European allies.

Overnight, Russia launched a record 267 drones at Ukraine, killing at least one person, in an unprecedented attack on the eve of the third anniversary of Russia’s war in the country, Ukrainian authorities said Sunday.

“Every day, our people are resisting aerial terror,” Zelensky said Sunday, adding that the overnight attack was “the largest attack since Iranian drones started hitting Ukrainian cities and villages.”

“We need to do our best to bring a lasting and just peace to Ukraine. This is possible in the unity of all partners – we need the strength of all of Europe, the strength of America, the strength of everyone who wants a lasting peace,” Zelensky said on X.

Awo had nothing to do with the coup (and the coup was not an Igbo coup, it was a socialist coup carried out by leftists in the Army).

Achebe's book 'Man of the people' did not predict that Awolowo would carry out the coup.

Infact this is the exact quote from the book
.

The coupists were certainly symphatetic to Awo's socialist leanings and may have eyed him as the leader of a future government , but at the end had they succeded it would have been a troika of Ifeajuana and two others, and many more executions , including of Igbo politicans would have happened.

Nzeogwu alluded to what was to have happened in his last media interview where he observed that the people asked to handle the coup in the East had messed up. Had they done what they were supposed to do, many would have died there too.
That January 15, 1966 coup was originally supposed to be a nationalistic coup but it was hijacked by some Igbos especially from the East of River Niger who Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu accused of tribalism in his interview before he passed on and these "school boy" mentality coup plotters proceded to execute the civilian and military leaders of other regions in the North, West, and Midwest WITHOUT killing any of their own. This is the reason why the irresponsible largely Igbo-led coup has been termed right from the late 1960s as an Igbo coup till date!

If majority of the coup plotters were Ibos and the victims of the coup non Ibos with an Ibo dictatorship that emerged from the coup and Ibos across Nigeria celebrating the coup as Ibo triumph over Nigeria , why are we debating the fact that the coup of Jan 15 was or is not an Ibo coup ?

Even Chinue Achebe in his usual snake lying ways admitted in his book "There was a country" that Ibos celebrated the coup as an Ibo triumph but refused to admit that the events of Jan 15 being an Ibo coup and cause of the pogroms.

Ask Chinue Achebe wherever he is now, if Ibos goading their northern hosts with such insensitive and provocative display did not do so because of the fallout of having an Ibo dictatorship following the Ibo bloody coup of Jan 15.

“Igbo in the North were widely taunting their hosts on the loss of their leaders. Celestine Ukwu, a popular Igbo musician, released songs titled Ewu Ne Ba Akwa (Goats Are Crying) and others celebrating “Igbo power”, the “January Victory.” Posters, stickers, postcards, cartoons displaying the murdered Sardauna begging Major Nzeogwu at the gates of heaven or Balewa burning outright in pits of hell or Nzeogwu standing St. George-like on Sardauna, the defeated dragon, began to show up across Northern towns and cities. These provocations were so pervasive that they warranted the promulgation of Decree 44 of 1966 banning them”. Even Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe noted these atrocities in his The Origins of the Civil War: “Some Ibo elements, who were domiciled in Northern Nigeria taunted northerners by defaming their leaders through means of records or songs or pictures. They also published pamphlets and postcards, which displayed a peculiar representation of certain northerners, living or dead, in a manner likely to provoke disaffection.” These images and songs eventually led to the so-called pogroms/ethnic-cleansing/genocide, not the coup”

PoliticsRe: IBB Confirmed 1966 Coup Was Igbo-led – Fani-kayode by Konquest: 1:27am On Feb 25, 2025

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, said there is nowhere in former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida’s book, A Journey in Service, where he stated that the coup of January 15, 1966, was not an Igbo coup.

Fani-Kayode insisted that those claiming it was not an Igbo coup are wrong, stating that they are either misguided and misinformed or mischievous.

The ex-Minister stated in a post on his X handle that IBB was charitable to the Igbos in his book. He, however, noted that this does not give anyone the license to misinterpret Babangida’s words and conclusions or use them in an attempt to revise history.

He wrote:

"It was heinously callous for Nzeogwu to have murdered Sir Ahmadu Bello and his wife, Hafsatu, because not only were they eminently adored by many but also because they were said not to have put up a fight. From that moment the putsch was infiltrated by "outsiders" to its supposed original intention and it took on an unmistakable ethnic coloration compounded by the fact that there were no related coup activities in the Eastern Region"- President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, 'A Journey In Service: An Autobiography', February 2025.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there is NOWHERE in IBB’s book where he said that the coup of January 15, 1966, was NOT an Igbo coup.

In fact, he alluded to the contrary above, when he said the coup had taken on an ‘unmistakable ethnic coloration.

That is what he wrote, and that is the reality. The coup was an ethnic one, and that ethnicity was Igbo!

Those who have misinterpreted his words and claimed that he wrote the coup was not an Igbo coup are either misguided and misinformed or being mischievous.

They have a poor understanding of the English language and, in most cases, have not even read the book. Instead, they rely on erroneous social media quotes and well-crafted disinformation.

I suggest that they procure a copy of the book, read it from cover to cover, and stop attempting to revise history by misinterpreting the words of the esteemed author.

IBB, in his characteristic manner, was charitable to the Igbos in his book, but that does not give anyone the license to misinterpret his words and conclusions or use them in an attempt to revise history.

The facts are clear, and they are as follows: 99% of the officers who planned and executed the Jan. 15, 1966, coup and were involved in the mutiny were Igbo, and 99% of those murdered by them were non-Igbo military officers and political leaders, in some cases including their wives.

We owe it to the memory of those who were so callously slaughtered not to sugarcoat the bitter truth, not to revise history, and not to tell lies.

The coup was UNMISTAKABLY an Igbo one, and IBB made this very clear when he wrote about its ‘ethnic coloration.

I urge all those who have a poor understanding of the English language and cannot read more than three lines of any book or essay to stop using his words to establish their revisionist and patently dishonest narrative and their futile attempt to perpetuate an age-old lie.

The truth is that the Jan. 15, 1966, coup WAS an Igbo one, and I am glad to say that IBB has confirmed it.

This is a FACT, and as our journalist friends will tell you, facts are sacred, and opinion is cheap.

Dangote should have partnered with Toyota, I don’t see Peugeot making headway among Nigerian consumers except they are using Nigeria as an assembly base for exports.
True that.

Right from the 1970s through to the 1980s, and beyond, I recall that earlier models of Toyota, Datsun, and Honda Civic cars, etc, started eating into the market share of Peugeot despite the FACT that these Japanese brands had NO assembly plants in Nigeria. My father's immediate older brother imported a lot of Toyota vehicles from Japan to Lagos back in the early 1980s (during the democracy years and they sold out). With Ibrahim Babangida's infamous SAP in 1989, things just pretty started going south for Peugeot until now when Dangote revived it by construction a new assembly plant in Kaduna.

PoliticsRe: Brazilian Firm Plans $2.5bn Livestock Investment In Ogun (Pics) by Konquest: 11:01pm On Feb 24, 2025
chopnaira:
Ogun State is set to benefit from a $2.5bn investment in livestock production in Nigeria by JBS of Brazil.

The controlling shareholder of the company, Wesley Batista, gave this indication when officials of his firm, led by the controlling shareholder of EMN, Mr John Coumantaros, visited the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Sunday.

Coumantaros disclosed that the investment would be in improving the production of beef, pork, chicken in Nigeria.

He said: “We have been talking and learning about Nigeria. We had the privilege to meet the Nigerian delegation in Brazil when President Bola Tinubu visited our country. We see Nigeria as the hub of Africa with a very large population.

“Though it is our first time in Nigeria, we feel that we have a lot of similarities between Brazil and Nigeria. We have a very good impression so far about Nigeria and Nigerians.

“We are serious about coming to Nigeria to invest in beef, pork, chicken, among others. We see growth prospects in Nigeria and what Nigerian leaders are doing in encouraging investors to come and make significant investments here. We can bring our knowledge and expertise to bear in Nigeria’s economy,” Coumantaros said.

According to the Controlling Shareholder, the company, across several countries of the world, processes 80,000 heads of cattle, 15 million chickens, about 25,000 heads of lamb per day.

He added that the company also produces packaged products like sausages and bacon.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission, Aisha Rimi, on her part, said the meeting is a follow-up to the technical team sent by the company to assess the potentials of the State for investment, adding that the company is ready to invest $2.5bn in the next five years in livestock, and Ogun State would be one of the States to benefit.

Responding, Governor Abiodun said the state, with more than 16,000 square kilometers, offers an ideal location for investments as it provides unique connections to the 17 southern states as well as the northern parts of the country.

“We have provided, in terms of infrastructure, 1,000 kilometers of highways and the best-constructed airport in Nigeria, specially dedicated to agro imports and exports.

“We are number one in non-oil, as two-thirds of the state sits on limestone. Our state is the third-largest producer of cement in Africa, trailing behind Morocco, which is second, and Egypt, which is first.

“The State also has gold, silica, bitumen, and others which are too numerous to mention. We have more gas reticulation than any other state.
There are two major gas pipelines that crisscross our state,” he stated.

Governor Abiodun noted that Ogun is going into power generation and distribution, assuring that industries and companies that operate in the State would have access to the cheapest power supply in the country.

On the acquisition of land, the governor said it has been made seamless as land title documents would be made ready within 30 days, assuring that his administration has invested significantly in security to guarantee the safety of lives and properties of those who live and work in the state.

AgricultureRe: Farmers Lament Drop In Food Prices Amid FG’s Moves To Reduce Inflation by Konquest: 10:26pm On Feb 24, 2025
TimeManager:
market in Dukku LGA of Gombe State, attributed the fall in the price of food items to gradual return of farming activities in areas affected by insurgency, leading to increase in the food production volume in the country.

“Just three weeks ago, a 100kg bag of cowpea was sold at N100,00 – N102,000, but now it goes for N85,000 – 95,000. Maize was sold this week at between N47,000 and N48,000 as against N52,000 – N55,000 some weeks ago.

“This decline in the prices, as I understand, may not be unconnected to the fact that some farmers are gradually returning to their farms in places like Zamfara and Sokoto, where farmlands were inaccessible due to insurgency.”

‘It’s discouraging,’ farmers lament

Meanwhile, some farmers have raised concerns that this trend could lead to losses and even discourage people from farming.

Speaking to our reporter, Shittu Alhassan Shu’aibu, a farmer in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State, urged government to come to the rescue of farmers by subsidising major farm inputs such as fertilizers and chemicals, warning that farmers might be forced out of production if prices of produce continue to decline while price of farm inputs remain high.

“Honestly, the downward trend in the food prices is discouraging, particularly for farmers who had purchased farm inputs at higher costs. It is even more daunting for irrigation farmers, considering the additional cost they incur in buying fuel, pumping devices and other inputs. This, as I see it, will discourage starters, who perhaps were forced to start farming because of the harsh economic situation in the country.

“If the government wants to introduce a policy that will crash price of food items, it is better to start by subsidising farm inputs so as to at least reduce the production costs incurred by the farmers. As it is now, the price of farm inputs hasn’t reduced but that of the produce has drastically dropped. How much did farmers buy a bag of fertilizer last production season? So, I think a lot needs to be done before adopting certain policies like importation of food items. Importation can be justified when there is scarcity, but right now I think we have enough.”

But Salahuddeen Abubakar, a farmer in Jigawa, held a contrary view, insisting that it was premature to assume that prices would not shoot up again.

“I think it is too early to conclude that the prices will not surge again. It is not yet June, July or August, which is the peak period when prices of food items typically skyrocket due to limited supply.

“Even farmers who sold their produce immediately after harvest when the price was lower than it is now could have made some profits. Those who will be negatively affected, I think, are hoarders and people who want to make excessive profits.

“The major concern is that the price of farm inputs is decreasing but only slightly, and this may discourage farmers if the trend persists.” he added.

Importation of grains ill-timed –AFAN

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has said the recent importation of grains into the country is ill-timed, noting that it will negatively impact local farmers who have already produced grains.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa service, the National Publicity Secretary of AFAN, Mohammed Magaji, said the ideal time to import grains into the country should be when farmers had exhausted their supplies.

“The ideal time to import grains should be when farmers have sold out their stock and the price is high, especially around July, August and September, during which even the farmer himself is looking for grains to buy at cheaper prices,” he said.

Mohammed also lamented that despite significant drop in food prices, the cost of essential farm inputs like fertilizers, seeds and chemicals continues to rise, warning that this will discourage farmers.

Islie:
Atedo Peterside, founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Anap Foundation, says the Nigerian elite may “normalise” deceit if they have their way.

Speaking on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels TV, Peterside said the Nigerian elite need to speak the truth always and not treat serious matters
with levity.

Peterside was reacting to the recently released autobiography titled, ‘A Journey In Service’ by Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).

The book chronicled the events before and after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

In the memoir, Babangida, among several revelations, said he was in Katsina when the annulment of the election, won by MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was announced by the press secretary of his second-in-command without his knowledge or permission.

He said he later discovered that the forces against the June 12 election were led by Sani Abacha, his chief of defence staff who later became military head of state.

Peterside said Nigeria needs the emergence of elders who will speak the truth and show the younger generation the right path.

“I’m not here to indict anybody but I think if we are not careful, the Nigerian elite would normalise deceit or fraud and things like that. They would normalise all sorts of things. That is why some people have pointed out that enough is enough. Let’s draw the line somewhere. There are some issues you cannot joke with,” Peterside said.

“The other thing I want to explain is that, very recently, we lost two very respected elder statesmen. People who showed examples in terms of standing for the truth repeatedly.

“When you hear something from Chief Ayo Adebanjo, you can take it to the bank. When you hear something from chief Edwin Clark, you can take it to the bank. Two of them passed on very recently. I served at the national conference with both of them. We were together in Abuja in 2014. We were delegates.

“So, we have to be careful because elder statemen like that who helped to set the right values for some of our young stars in terms of standing for something. Always telling the truth and so on.

“We have to make sure that a different group of elders also appear to fill that vacuum — stand for the truth. Tell the same story the same way. Tell the whole truth that would set them free. Because at the end of the day, it is a struggle for the soul of the nation.

“When IBB annulled that election on June 12. That was the first time we had mobile phones. I voted on my street in Victoria Island. We saw the results coming from all over the country except Taraba state. I was in my 30s. I knew what happened. I was among the people that came out after the annulment to say we can’t do this.

“Interestingly, one of the articles I wrote then. I have never heard anybody use that expression. I sat in my house and wrote it because there was no internet. I called it the ghost of June 12. What I was writing then was that June 12 would be like a ghost and it would haunt some people forever.”

Peterside added that the book launch “was the ghost of June 12 haunting some people and it is still haunting them, unfortunately”.

Atedo largely spoke succinctly there. On the other hand, based off of what Atedo said, 1993 was indeed the year mobile phones first made landfall in Nigeria... The big mobile phones of the "090" era.

It's highly irresponsible that some young people of Igbo origin in 2025 would go about rewriting the established historical FACTS that we already know right from the 1960s and even we conclusively thrashed this out in 2012 on this same Website with several CLEAR references when Achebe wrote that his infamous last book.

This is the major reason why the January 15,1966 coup was rightly termed an Ibo (Igbo Coup) because even though they recruited a few gullible people like Ademoyega who were NOT Igbo and a large number of the non-Igbo officers such as John Atom Kpera a Tiv man who rose to become a General in the military did NOT know that they were being illegally used during the 1966 coup until after the coup had ended. John Atom Kpera who is from Benue State CLEARLY stated this FACT in several interviews in the past. He said most of the officers in his military unit were Igbo-speaking and ONLY 4 of them were non-Igbos, and they non-Igbos were NEVER told that a coup was taking place despite being drafted out on operation.

Fourth, General John Atom Kpera (rtd) was a junior officer of the rank of 2nd Lieutenant from today's Benue State who was INNOCENTLY dragged into the senseless January 1966 coup plot BUT he and other non-Igbo officers didn't know it was a deadly coup that was ongoing. Majority of the officers in his Squadron were Igbos. He later got to know after that he was used in a coup and this is why he rose to the rank of a Nigerian Army General because the Army was satisfied that indeed he didn't know but only innocently joined the coup plotters thinking it was a normal military routine they were going for. He granted an interview on this issue in the media as well.

BELOW is the EXCERPT of the 2017 interview publication about the Nigerian Civil War veteran General John Atom Kpera. He is still alive in Benue State.

“That is why I said I participated in it blindfolded. I wasn’t the ONLY one; ALL our officers, probably ONLY the Igbo officers knew that it was a coup. In that squadron, we were four that were non-Igbo, every other person was an officer of Igbo extraction. That was how it went.”

So, due to the FACT that the notorious January 15 1966 coup was hijacked by some tribalistic elements among the Igbo officers, it was indeed an "Igbo-dominated coup" OR an "Igbo Coup." This is why 6 months later, the mostly Northern Region officers took a massive revenge against the Igbo officers including Aguiyi Ironsi who irresponsibly shielded them from a quick trial. If he had organized their trial, events would definitely have taken a different turn.
PoliticsRe: 1966 Coup Wasn't An Igbo Coup; IBB Isn't The First To Say So - David Hundeyin by Konquest:
January 1966 Coup.

First off, the reason why that coup of January 15, 1966 has been called an "Igbo Coup" right from the 1960s is simply because those irresponsible young men in their 20s who opened direct gun fire and brutally killed Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Tafawa Balewa, Aare Ona Kakanfo Ladoke Akintola, Chief Okotie-Eboh and several other Northern and Western senior military and civilian officials Without killing ANY Igbo leader were Igbo-speaking military junior officers! As of 1965, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Timothy Onwuatuegwu, Chris Anuforo, Don Okafor, Humphrey Chukwuka and Adewale Ademoyega were already preparing for the coup which was led by Emmanuel Ifeajuna.

The RECAP of the other core plotters includes:

1. Kaduna Nzeogwu
2. Don Okafor
3. Timothy Onwutuegwu
4. Chris Anuforo
5. Adewale Ademoyega
6. Humphrey Chukwuka
7. Nwaobosi
8. Ben Gbulie
9. Orji.

The others guys were simply junior officers from other non-Igbo ethnic groups who took orders from their seniors without knowing what the event was all about.

Second, in an interview which Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu (who is from Okpanam, near Asaba in Delta State) granted in 1966, he accused the other coup plotters who were majorly Igbos East of River Niger of TRIBALISM because the ORIGINAL plan of the coup plotters was to eliminate some of the political leaders in all the regions of Nigeria but the Igbo officers allegedly tipped Michael Okpara off and he escaped. Nnamdi Azikiwe himself NO doubt knew about the coup plot because he failed to return from his supposed medical trip abroad despite the fact that a Commonwealth Heads of State Summit was taking place on Lagos Island and it was totally strange that Azikiwe failed to arrive from abroad despite the fact that his aides had returned to Nigeria. Ifeajuna who was the leader of that coup is a direct relative of Azikiwe. Azikiwe political party's Alliance with the Northern Nigeria party (NPC) had been floundering or experiencing problems so, it wasn't surprising that a plot was going on underground in form of a coup.

Third, General John Atom Kpera (rtd) was a junior officer of the rank of 2nd Lieutenant from today's Benue State who was INNOCENTLY dragged alongside others into the senseless January 1966 coup plot BUT he and other non-Igbo officers didn't know it was a deadly coup that was ongoing. Majority of the officers in his Squadron were Igbos. He later got to know later that he was illegally used in a coup and this is why he rose to the rank of a Nigerian Army General because the Army was satisfied that indeed he didn't know but only innocently joined the coup plotters thinking it was a normal military routine they were going for. Those are VERY commendable moves made by the security agencies and NAFDAC to take down the criminal FAKE drugs cartels (They are largely from the East of Nigeria with Anambra and Aba as the epicenters of the notorious criminal gangs who are behind the distribution of these FAKE and BANNED drugs all over Nigeria and parts of West Africa based on arrests made in those countries, thereby leading to dangerous cases of drug abuse and high rates of kidney failures).

ONLY legitimate pharmaceutical companies certified by NAFDAC must be allowed to operate and vicious capital punishments including the forfeiture to the Federal Government in Nigeria of all their illegally acquired property in major cities in Nigeria must be visited on these criminals for societal sanity to be restored.

Photo 3) Filmed secretly, Vinod Sharma said Aveo's cocktail drug was "very harmful", adding "this is business".
The international collaboration to take these rogues such as the Mumbai-based AVEO down involving India is commendable. Crime anywhere must be seen as a crime against humanity and very stiff punishments must be enforced to the level of capital punishments

With India now officially the most populated country in the world since 2023, ahead of China which is now the second most populated worldwide, India has to really come down hard on these kinds of vices in order to stay globally competitive with top quality manufacturing of pharmaceutical and consumer products. Period.

These drug cartels with links largely to the East of Nigeria (Anambra State to be specific based on NDLEA and crime data for over 35 years now where over 90 percent of arrested drug traffickers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport are Igbos with Anambra indigenes leading the pack) are getting very daring. They recruited one Canadian girl who flew in from Canada into the international airport in Lagos State last year and another Namibian girl last year flew from Brazil into South Africa with drugs to reduce suspicions that she was recruited by this same criminal hard drugs cartel but she was arrested by vigilant South African security agents.

There's a viral video of a Thailand senior police detective interrogating one of the young Igbo drug traffickers in Thailand and he bluntly accused the Igbos of being responsible for the hard drugs distribution by Nigerians in his country of Thailand. He accused Igbos of being the biggest CURSE of Nigeria and Africa because the intelligence agencies in many Asian countries already have the crime data and ethnic profiles of all arrested drug barons and traffickers.

Watch Right BELOW the Viral Video [Especially from Time Stamp 5:00] of How The Senior Thailand Police Officer in the 2014 Video CLEARLY and Bluntly Calls Out the Igbos as the Biggest CURSE of Africa and Nigeria with Reference to Drug Trafficking Crimes in Thailand.

The politicians in Nigeria (including those from other countries in Africa and around the world) are the MAJOR enemies of society and indirect enablers of these hard drugs crimes which have ruined the lives of many and led to violent urban crimes and rapes because the politicians and legislators treat these criminals with levity by NOT introducing the death penalty in form of lethal injections, electric chairs, hangings and more for these crimes after intelligence agencies and the courts have worked hard and done their bit by getting these criminals arrested and tried.

Stiffer laws and capital punishments like you have in advanced and developing Asian countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, etc, have to be urgently introduced in order to stiffle the grip of these hard drugs gangs and even the counterfeiting of pharmaceutical drugs and consumer items such as wines, fruit drinks, and more. Period.
PhonesRe: Best Data Plans In Nigeria (2025): Compare Prices & Value Across Networks by Konquest: 10:58pm On Feb 23, 2025
Great100000:
Nigerian telecom users have seen data prices surge by up to 50% in 2025, forcing many to rethink their internet budgets. With MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile adjusting their prices—some increasing by as much as ₦70,000 for large data plans—finding the best deal has become crucial.

This guide compares the cheapest and best-value data plans across Nigeria’s major telecom providers, helping you find the most cost-effective option based on your budget and internet needs.

Budget Monthly Data Plans in Nigeria (Best for light users)

If you’re looking for affordable, entry-level data plans, here’s how MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile compare:

Best Budget Pick: Glo (3.9GB for ₦1,000) offers the lowest price per GB, but network quality varies. MTN and Airtel remain the most reliable in major cities.

User Insight: “I use MTN’s 75GB plan for ₦20,000. It used to be ₦16,000, but I’m stuck with them because alternatives like Glo and Airtel don’t work well in my area.” – David, a growth marketer in Lagos.

Best Data Plans for Heavy Users (Streaming, Remote Work, Business)

If you stream videos, work remotely, or run a business that relies on high-speed internet, these are the best options:

Best Heavy-User Pick: Airtel (200GB for ₦20,000) provides the cheapest per GB cost, but check for network quality in your area before committing.

User Insight: “I use MTN’s 112.5GB plan for ₦20,000. It used to be 150GB for ₦16,000 before the price hike. I tried Airtel, but it doesn’t work well in my area. MTN is the most consistent network, but their app is terrible.” – Daniel.

Best Weekly Data Plans for Short-Term Users

If you don’t need a full month of data, weekly plans offer a flexible and often cheaper alternative.

Best Weekly Pick: 9mobile (7GB + 100MB for ₦1,500) gives the best value per GB but has limited coverage in some locations.

User Insight: “I use Glo’s weekly 15GB plan for ₦2,500 because it’s better value for a heavy user like me.” – Joseph

Best Unlimited Home WiFi Plans (No Fair Use Policy)

For households or small businesses that need non-stop internet, some providers offer truly unlimited plans. But watch out for hidden fair use policies (FUPs) that can throttle speeds after a certain usage.

Best Home WiFi Pick: FibreOne (25Mbps for ₦13,807, No Fair Use Policy) offers the best speed without limits.

User Insight: “I’ve noticed that ‘unlimited’ plans often have a fair use policy, meaning after a certain limit, speeds drop drastically.” – Miriam.

For Office & Business Use

Businesses need reliable, high-capacity internet to handle daily operations, video conferencing, and cloud-based services. Here are some of the best plans for small, medium, and large businesses:

Category Best Pick
Best Budget Monthly Plan Glo 3.9GB for ₦1,000
Best Heavy-User Plan Airtel 200GB for ₦20,000
Best Weekly Plan 9mobile 7GB + 100MB for ₦1,500
Best Unlimited Home WiFi FibreOne 25Mbps for ₦13,807 (No FUP)
