Vendor127001: Title: Controversy Erupts Over Expired Condoms Rebranded and Sold in Nigeria
In a shocking turn of events, reports have surfaced about expired condoms, originally donated by USAID, being rebranded and sold in Nigeria with new expiration dates. This revelation has sparked outrage and concern among health advocates, consumers, and government officials.
In many parts of Nigeria, access to contraceptives can be limited, and the reliance on donations from international organizations like USAID is often crucial. However, the discovery that some of these condoms have been expired raises serious questions about safety and ethics. Health experts warn that using expired condoms can lead to a higher risk of breakage and failure, undermining their primary purpose of preventing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
Imagine trusting a product meant to protect you, only to find out it was past its prime. Many young couples and individuals rely on these products for safe intimacy, and the thought of using something that might not work as intended is terrifying. "It's a betrayal," said one health worker, who wished to remain anonymous. "People are risking their health and lives because someone decided to cut corners."
The rebranding process reportedly involved simply slapping new labels on boxes, making it seem as if the products were fresh and safe. This deceitful practice not only puts consumers at risk but also undermines public health efforts in a country where misinformation about sexual health is already prevalent.
Government officials and health organizations are now scrambling to address the fallout. “We are investigating the situation to ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said a representative from Nigeria's Ministry of Health. “The safety of our citizens is our top priority, and we will not tolerate any compromises in that regard.”
For many, this scandal goes beyond just expired products; it highlights a larger issue of trust in public health initiatives. It’s disheartening for those who depend on these resources to find that their safety may have been compromised for profit. Consumers are now left feeling vulnerable and betrayed, questioning where they can find reliable and safe products.
As the story unfolds, one thing is clear: the importance of transparency and integrity in health initiatives has never been more crucial. Public health is a shared responsibility, and everyone deserves access to safe and effective resources. It’s time to ensure that the focus remains on protecting the health and well-being of all Nigerians, rather than prioritizing profits over safety.
As discussions continue, many hope this incident will serve as a wake-up call to strengthen regulations and ensure that no one else has to face the risk of using expired products that were meant to protect them.
ednut1: Too many Indians were brought in as students outpacing jobs and housing. The whole thing con cast😩
True that... The Canadian dream was oversold to the young Indians, who then parted with their hard-earned money without doing enough due diligence thereby swelling the bank accounts of the Indian travel agents.
I will never understand why some would not want to hear views from others, be it tribe, country or even continent. I just don't get it at all.
They just want a forum with one voice to repeat what others have said whether or not it is right or true.
I have asked them to set up there own forum or they should ask Seun to give them their own "Islam only type" section where they can go and gorge themselves.
Just a total nonsense if you ask me.
@aswani,
Greetings to you. I've just logged back in after several hours and saw your brilliant post above. Indeed, the overbearing attitude from these insidious people is a "total nonsense" and will NOT be tolerated. Real South Africans, Kenyans, Americans, British, Cameroonians, Ghanaians, Japanese, etc, have contributed a great deal to the contents on this Website over the decades tbh, and NOBODY can intimidate SA folks out of here otherwise we will ensure they get banned.
Despite the fact that some unexposed SA citizens talk in trashy generalizations about Nigerians (because of the relentless criminal activities of a few known Nigerians in SA, without realizing that Nigeria has 250 distinct ethnic groups and over 250 distinct languages), there are great folks among SA citizens and I personally have them as friends. One of my MOST impactful associates ever is actually a South African, and back in the day (1960s through to the early 1980s during apartheid), several exiled South African citizens such as the former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki lived and schooled (Uni) in Nigeria on scholarship, so, who in that generation of SA folks would ever hate Nigeria?
I originally joined NL in 2005 with an older account (before registering this current one in 2008) and I can tell you that we had far more active folks from several countries and Diasporan Nigerians using this same NL discussion forum back in the late 2000s. Convos here were very civilized and insightful too. With the advent of that toxic secessionist group in the early 2010s, things never became the same on many online platforms with the level of deliberate circulation (by those insidious things) of disinformation, toxic hate speech, and intolerance.
Christlike01: I don't know about 'some kinky parents creating names for their kids,' but Adeshina is certainly a Yoruba name. Adding a 'T' between 'Adeshina' doesn't really alter its meaning or sound; it's still A-de-shi-na! It's a Yoruba name.
This name spelling combination issue has been cleared for decades now and even repeated as as of last year.
In the body of works I've read for years, credible Yoruba linguists have CLEARLY stated that in convention Yoruba spelling, the letter "H" does NOT exist in names such as 'Sade or Folasade in full. This is why 'Sola, 'Sina, 'Seyi, 'Segun, 'Sade, Osogbo, etc, do NOT have letters "H" in them. The act of adding "H" during the British colonial times was a linguistic misnomer. Till date, Sade, the FIRST EVER Nigerian-born 1986 Grammy Award winner, Helen Folasade Adu (born of a Yoruba-Nigerian Professor of Economics father and a White English mother in 1959) still uses the stage name SADE as an international singer and song writer.
Therefore, that forged name combination "ADETSHINA" with the letter "T" is NOT a recognized Yoruba spelling combination (even in Itsekiriland which was alluded to by some foolish bigots to deceive others online in order to divert attention from the very CLEAR case of criminal forgery and identity theft in South Africa). This is why it (the forged name with letter T) immediately raised eyebrows among the millions of folks who are conversant with the Yoruba language and culture worldwide.
NOBODY uses that forged name spelling combination with the letters "T and H" among the over 70 million folks of Yoruba descent in Nigeria or among the large Yoruba Diaspora in major population centers of West African countries, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, etc. ADESINA is the standard OR conventional spelling. For instance Dr. Akinwunmi ADESINA is the President of the African Development Bank (ADB) headquartered in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.
“I believe I am innocent and will be acquitted. My release would not undermine public peace.”
These were the words of Anabela Rungo, mother of beauty queen and model Chidimma Adetshina, while applying for bail on Friday in the Cape Town magistrate's court.
Rungo is facing charges related to flouting the Immigration Act and Identification Act.
The court heard testimony by an immigration officer who said she had failed to respond to correspondence in September 2024 warning her ID number was being withdrawn and offering an opportunity to object.
Rungo was arrested on February 15 in Summer Greens, Cape Town, where she was living despite her ID being revoked. She was found to have committed identity fraud to obtain citizenship.
Immigration officer Adrian Jackson told the court Rungo was arrested for contravening immigration laws and the Identification Act.
Jackson said she had falsely applied for an ID document under the name Sara Moyo.
Jackson said she could not be traced so letters confirming her ID would be withdrawn were sent to her via WhatsApp.
Magistrate Sadiqah Guendouz heard that Rungo had applied for residency in South Africa in 2016 but was rejected for not meeting the financial requirements. She appealed, presenting a bank statement which home affairs said was fraudulent. They rejected the appeal.
Defence attorney Ben Mathewson presented an affidavit during the bail application saying it was in the interests of justice for his client to be released.
Rungo, it read, lived with her husband Michael and looked after Chidimma’s young son while her daughter travelled. It said her grandson was not doing well while she was in custody.
The court heard Rungo required medication for health issues and feared she would collapse in the unsanitary conditions at Pollsmoor prison.
Rungo said she only had a Mozambican passport. “I should be released on bail as I am being charged with an offence for which I have not committed,” read the affidavit.
The court heard she had no previous convictions, outstanding warrants or pending applications and was able to pay bail of R3,000.
Rungo said there was no warrant issued for her arrest and she intended pleading not guilty as she had no knowledge of being an undesirable or prohibited person.
“I believe I am innocent and will be acquitted. My release would not undermine public peace.”
Mathewson added that the available evidence, at this stage, favoured his client's release.
The case was postponed to February 26. Rungo remains in custody.
Anabela Rungo of Mozambique... The alleged biological mother.
The wheels of justice grind slowly but surely. South Africa has the absolute right to put anyone who has flouted the immigration rules through identity theft and fraud to justice.
The 2 surviving male South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) officials (out of the 3 identified, only 2 are alive) who sold fake identities to non-South Africans which where then used to procure illegal SA citizenships back in the early 2000s MUST also face justice. If it wasn't for those corrupt South Africans, these immigration frauds wouldn't have happened in the first place.
As of August 2024, when this girl called Chidinma and her parents were stripped of the illegal South African citizenship they had acquired, new fraud-proof SA identities were introduced thereby exposing over 700,000 cases of illegal identities by people from different nationalities in SA. NO country on earth would accept such level of fraud. Period.
GistMedia0: Two seemingly innocent-looking ladies were caught on CCTV stealing a dentist's phone from a hospital counter while pretending to wait for an appointment.
The incident occurred as the dentist was busy attending to other patients in the inner office. Seizing the opportunity, the duo approached the reception counter, where the phone was left among other items. Their actions appeared premeditated, as one acted as a lookout while the other discreetly took the phone.
Unbeknownst to them, a CCTV camera positioned directly in front of them captured their faces clearly. As soon as they secured the stolen device, they quickly exited the building, appearing satisfied with their crime.
Authorities are now reviewing the footage and working to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Seun Okinbaloye's interview yesterday on Channels Television livestream with the former DSS Director, Mohammed Ngoshe, addressing the fake news matter, suggesting that the press was too quick to label the DSS presence at the Assembly as an “invasion.”
Seun's eulogy (on live television) of all the active and gallant men and women of the DSS for their services was and still is highly commendable.
Elharun12: An Open Letter to General Ibrahim Babangida: Abacha’s Legacy Shines Where Yours Faltered
February 21, 2025
Dear General Babangida,
Your memoir, *A Journey in Service*, launched yesterday, February 20, 2025, in Abuja, has stirred the pot once more. Through your book reviewer, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, you admitted that Chief MKO Abiola won the June 12, 1993, election, a truth long known to Nigerians. Yet, you’ve shifted the blame to General Sani Abacha, claiming he was your “biggest headache” and the mastermind behind the annulment. You wrote, “Without question, one of my biggest headaches at this time was Sani Abacha. I knew that Abacha was ambivalent about a return to civil rule,” and alleged he led forces that annulled the election without your authority while you were in Katsina. This narrative, casting Abacha as the villain and yourself as a sidelined bystander, is a convenient rewrite of history. The facts tell a different story: your eight years in power gutted Nigeria, while Abacha, for all his complexities, rebuilt it into a stronger, prouder nation. Let’s set the record straight.
In your book, you claim ignorance of the annulment, stating that the press secretary to your second-in-command, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, announced it without your permission. You wrote, “To suddenly have an announcement made without my authority was, to put it mildly, alarming. I remember saying: ‘These nefarious “inside” forces opposed to the elections have outflanked me!’ I would later find out that the ‘forces’ led by General Sani Abacha annulled the elections.” This is a flimsy dodge. You were the Commander-in-Chief, sir, not a bystander. The June 12 election, which you now concede was “credible, free, and fair,” was annulled under your watch on June 24, 1993, via a national broadcast you authorized. If Abacha outmaneuvered you, why appoint him Chief of Defence Staff? Why leave him as the Interim National Government’s (ING) military linchpin when you “stepped aside”? Your claim that he became a “dominant force in a factionalised military” only underscores your failure to command loyalty or control your own regime.
You paint Abacha as a schemer, alleging he “attempted to violently remove me from power through a coup” by spreading a narrative that I was “the problem.” Yet, history shows he saved you during the 1990 Orkar coup, rallying loyal troops when your life hung in the balance. You’ve admitted this before, praising him on your 74th birthday in 2015 for coming to your aid. Where’s the loyalty Abacha showed you? We might never hear his side of the story, but history never lies; it records his actions, not your recastings. Now, you label him a headache to absolve yourself. The contradiction is glaring: if Abacha was so untrustworthy, why entrust him with Nigeria’s defense? Your memoir’s finger-pointing reeks of hindsight crafted to dodge accountability.
Let’s talk about your legacy. June 12 wasn’t Abacha’s doing; it was yours. You annulled Nigeria’s fairest election, sparking unrest and shattering democratic hopes. Your Interim Government under Ernest Shonekan was a puppet show, collapsing in three months because you designed it to fail. Economically, your IMF-backed Structural Adjustment Program tanked the naira from 0.89 to 17 per dollar by 1993, unleashed inflation, and impoverished millions, while you siphoned off $12 billion, dwarfing any “Abacha loot.” Politically, you banned real parties, executed rivals like Mamman Vatsa on shaky grounds, and stoked religious strife with the OIC move. Nigeria bled under your watch; Abacha merely inherited the wreckage.
Abacha took power in 1993 not to ruin Nigeria, but to steady it. Economically, he grew reserves from $494 million to $9.6 billion and cut debt from $36 billion to $27 billion, all with oil at $15 a barrel. Inflation fell from 54% to 8.5%. He built roads in Lagos, Kano, and beyond, delivering what you only promised. You call him “ambivalent” about civilian rule, yet he began a transition framework in 1995, cut short by his death in 1998, paving the way for 1999’s democracy. Your memoir begrudges his resolve; I see a leader who acted where you wavered.
You scorn his defiance, but Abacha’s stand against globalists was Nigeria’s gain. After the 1995 Saro-Wiwa execution, a domestic call you’d have ducked, sanctions hit. He didn’t bend. He allied with Libya’s Gaddafi, hosting him in Kano in 1997 to cheers of thousands, and led ECOWAS to stabilize West Africa. You courted the West; Abacha defied them, preserving our sovereignty.
Your book admits regret, saying, “June 12 happened under my watch; mistakes, oversights, and missteps happened in quick succession,” and “If I have to do it all over again, I’d do it differently.” Too late, sir. You claim Abacha “wanted that job at all cost,” a line from a 2018 interview you now amplify. Yet, if he was your headache, you empowered him. History favors Abacha not for flawlessness; his rule was tough, but for results: stability, growth, and pride. You left Nigeria broken; he left it standing tall. Your memoir can’t rewrite that.
Sincerely, HALIMS GIZA
Whether Ibrahim Babangida's 1990 Gulf War oil windfall loot dwarf's Sani Abacha's loot running into over 4 billion USD and still being repatriated from foreign offshore bank accounts is besides the point because this just emphasizes that both former military dictators are thieves! This is why military goverments MUST never be tolerated because they get usually far corrupt than the politicians worldwide and the offer NO accountability
That criminal called Sani Abacha stole over a whopping 4 billion USD of Nigeria's money through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) right into foreign offshore bank accounts in Europe, Asia, and the tax havens of the Caribbean Islands. The writer of this article ABOVE shouldn't try to rewrite the history of the bad legacies of stealing and repressions under Sani Abacha's military dictatorship aided by Major Hamza Al-Mustapha using that rogue military killer squad called "Strike Force" which carriec out the ruthless political assassinations of several pro-democracy activists such as Alhaja Kudirat Abiola in June 1996, Chief Alfred Rewane, vicious gun attacks on Chief Abraham Adesanya and Alex Ibru, the 1996 car bombing of Dr. Sola Omosola who was the Chief Security Officer of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, the bombing of the journalist Bagauda Kaltho in the premises of Hamdala Hotel, Kaduna, the jailing and brutalization of lawyers, students, journalists, etc, from all parts of Nigeria who fought really hard for the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999 after the infamous and criminal annulment of the globally verified and credible June June 12,1993 elections. Those of us who were alive at that time in Nigeria and the Nigerian Diaspora know what happened politically back then. Period.
How Sergeant Rogers Admitted Killing Kudirat Abiola
Testimony of Sergeant Barnabas Jabila Mshiela aka "Sergeant Rogers" a member of the killer squad trained and maintained by Major Hamza Al Mustapha the former Chief Security Officer of late Nigerian dictator, Sanni Abacha testifying on how the former CSO ordered him and others to assassinate Kudirat Abiola.
PressMyButton: It is the 10th wonder of the world that ipob are licking the butts of the evil genius, I never believed a day like this will ever come but it is interesting that we are alive to witness this. IBB has even made his remaining days on earth more distasteful, he thought that if he could buy over some section of the country by making them feel good about the atrocities they committed against other regions, he would have dribbled his way through among Nigerians but he would even be regretting more now as his last days draws nearer.
On Election Annulment; he says he wasn't aware when Abacha announced the annulment
On why he did not fire Abacha; he says if he did, it might cause chaos or civil war
On the death of Dele Giwa; he says it was the media trying to blackmail his Government
On the murder of Vatsa; he said it was the military panel that recommended his death penalty and there was nothing he could have done
On the coup; he says "Those who argued that the original intention of the coup plotters was anything but ethnic refer to the fact that the initial purpose of the plotters was to release Chief Obafemi Awolowo from prison."
Like the Maradona that he is, he says "those who argued", he didn't say it was a fact, he didn't say it was his own opinion but he says "those". But ipob are jumping around quoting IBB ignorantly. This is why people called him the Maradona, very deceptive individual.
That assumption that Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo GCFR SAN was going to be released from prison by the highly irresponsible January 1966 "school boy" coup plotters and then installed as Nigeria's new political leader is historically false, totally idiotic and an afterthought! Awolowo would have CLEARLY rejected the offer. Period.
After, the January 1966 coup plotters (led by Ifeajuna and others) had brutally killed a lot of regional politicians such as Sir. Ahmadu Bello, Sir. Tafawa Balewa, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh of Itsekiriland, and several senior and junior military officers from the Northern Region and Western Region, WITHOUT assassinating any officer OR politician from the Eastern Region, there is absolutely NO WAY Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, (A London School of Economics and Political Science law graduate, who was framed up by the Balewa/Zik political alliance and wrongly jailed alongside Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Pa Anthony Enahoro and other great leaders of the Action Group) would have allowed himself to be released from prison and then installed as Nigeria's new leader after the killings of those men and women because the Northern Region would have launched reprisal attacks and killed Awolowo as well thinking him to be part of the coup plotters.
Besides, when Aguiyi Ironsi illegally got into power thereby further entrenching the belief in the psyche of other Nigerians that the coup of January 1966 was an Igbo coup that was hijacked by the Igbos to dominate other Nigerians, WHY didn't he release Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, Pa Anthony Enahoro and other innocent leaders in jail until General Yakubu Gowon's administration did it?
The Edo State-born, former Newswatch and New York Times investigative journalist, Dele Giwa's death via the FIRST EVER of its kind parcel bomb assassination in 1986 in his off Allen Avenue residence in Ikeja, Lagos was clearly a state-sponsored military intelligence kind of operation by the dictatorship to silence him from his investigative journalism which was spot on unlike the toxic nonsense and guessworks you have from younger wannabes like Hundeyin and others that lack bite and credibility.
Lexusgs430: I agree to all, but the gym aspect...... 😁😂👍
@Lexusgs430
Yes... I know. Gyming (whether light or heavy) takes some time and commitment for some folks. But from age 45 and above, regular "resistance exercises" are key to keeping the body's "stem cells" in shape to slow the ageing process.
As a veteran of the history of the 30-months Nigerian Civil War, I've read a lot of books and war materials written by combatants from both sides since the early 1980s with a lot of those books in my home library.
The Ogbunigwes were crude weapons (made only for local use without any commercial sales value according to one of the RAP researchers and inventors by the name Dr. Edward Kaine who was a former director of PRODA).
Ogbunigwes were NOT entirely perfect beyond the hype and they devastating even killed a significant number of the rebels (or secessionists) who were detailed to operate and fire them at the Federal troops. The crude Ogbunigwes sometimes exploded and killed the operators, so, RAP had to look at ways of trying to correct the errors right to the point when the Nigerian Civil War ended in January 1970.
Lexusgs430: So I am older than this man...... No wonder people say, I look younger than 50 +..... 🤣😂🤔
Indeed, it's all about good genetics and living with "inner peace" despite the outer chaos. People say I look "younger" than my real age as well.
When you keep fit in your gym and have regular cashflow to smoothen things out to have the best things in life that money can buy, life falls into place easy peasy. There's a popular maxim that "50 is the youth of old age" though. #Gen X.

Dr. Abdulhakeem Oyeniyi Bello (Asiwaju), the Chairman/CEO of one of the leading real estate firms in the city Realscope Holdings Ltd marked his 50th birthday.
He must be VERY brilliant to be able to speak 7 different languages. I like folks with those kinds of cognitive skills... That caught my eyes.
Congratulations to him on hitting the big 50! More years and successes down the road. #GenX
zero8zero: Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida’s attempt to rewrite history regarding the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election has sparked widespread reactions, with Dr. Joe Odumakin, President of the Centre for Change, strongly condemning the move.
Speaking in response to Babangida’s remarks at the launch of his autobiography, Odumakin accused the former leader of engaging in
“Maradona-style double-speak” by admitting responsibility for annulling the election while simultaneously blaming the late General Sani Abacha, his then Chief of Army Staff, for the decision.
“It is ridiculous that Babangida, as Commander-in-Chief, would accuse a deceased man of such a grave offence, knowing fully well that Abacha can no longer defend himself,” Odumakin said.
She questioned Babangida’s claims, pointing out that he had the authority to remove Abacha if the latter had indeed acted against the people’s mandate given to Chief Moshood Abiola.
Odumakin also recalled the repeated delays in Babangida’s transition to civilian rule, noting that he postponed the handover to a democratically elected government in 1990 and 1992 before finally annulling the 1993 election.
“Will he also blame Abacha for those postponements? What about the banning, unbanning, and re-banning of political associations and individuals? Was Abacha responsible for that too?” she asked.
She called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive steps to correct the historical injustice.
“For now, President Tinubu should posthumously recognize Abiola as a past President of Nigeria and grant his family all the rights and entitlements due to deceased presidents.
The Issele-Ukwu, Delta State-born Joe Okei-Odumakin's historical assertions here are very accurate. I can confirm everything she said I'm the article as someone who was alive during that period.
From reading this thread, I can CLEARLY see that the greatest challenge to the sustainability of truth in any society is coming from a section of the younger generation (who are ALSO CLEARLY online trolls and ethnic bigots) who were NOT alive at the time these geopolitical events took place during the deadly pro-democracy struggles that all sections of Nigeria (with the full support of foreign governments such as the USA, UK, Canada, etc) fought for back in the early 1990s, OR these younger ones were still SUCKING their mothers' breast milks so they absolutely have NO knowledge of the deadly events, murders, maimings, etc, that Nigerians went through for the restoration of full democracy in 1999 which Ibrahim Babangida had CRIMINALLY denied them on 2 different occasions before the June 12,1993 elections annulment making it the THIRD (3rd) time and some highly irresponsible young trolls and posters here are defending this man!
I recall watching the founder of a multimillion USD top Lagos real estate developer called Veritasi by the name 'Nola who is in his early 30s and a brilliant indigene of Epe in Lagos State. 'Nola bluntly and succinctly told the YouTuber 'Tayo Aina in that 2023 video interview that the younger generation of Nigerians are clearly the most dangerous to the Nigerian society based on some bad character traits he had observed in a lot of youths. He said that comment based off of his observations of the youths as a streetwise young serial entrepreneur himself before giving that damning evidence.
So, an Igbo woman is no longer Igbo because she married a Yoruba man?. Ipob, you see una life
Joe Okei-Odumakin is an indigene of Issele-Ukwu in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State and she is related to the Issele-Ukwu Royal family lineage. She speaks fluent Yoruba because she lived partly in Ilorin with her family and got married to her husband in the course of their pro-democracy activisms.
I've known Joe Okei-Odumakin since the early 1990s as an activist and she granted interviews stating this fact of her origins and how the military and police beat and brutalized her on several occasions during the pro-democracy struggles of 1993 and beyond, before being jailed in the Babangida and especially the criminal military dictatorship of Sani Abacha (who had people assassinated and stole over 4 billion USD of Nigeria's money through the Central Bank of Nigeria into offshore accounts).
Hope this helps the younger readers who don't know these FACTS of history.
As someone who was alive in those years, IBB's so-called book was riddled with outright inconsistencies like Joe Okei-Odumakin said and it's irresponsible for some younger posters [who were NOT born in the 1990s OR we're still sucking breast milk here with confirmation bias to be countering the TRUTH in Joe Okei-Odumakin's comments.
Ibrahim Babangida was known to be very cunning, ruthless and ALSO a smooth talker who reneged on promises while he was the military dictator and it was under his watch that the iconic Edo-born Newswatch Magazine co-founder and ex-New York Times investigative journalist, 'Dele Giwa was killed in 1986 in the FIRST EVER parcel bombing of an individual in his off Allen Avenue residence in Ikeja, Lagos. I won't forget that day in 1986 because it sent shockwaves around Nigeria and within the Nigerian Diaspora. This bombing, was definitely a military intelligence operation and IBBs military goverment knew about it to silence Dele Giwa and they killed further investigations into the case. Dele Giwa was badly mangled but was still alive and he cried out in Yoruba saying over again: "won ti pami." He gave up in a nearby hospital in Lagos.
IBB is now wheelchair-bound and he is reaping what he has sown. We all live in a world of cause and effect. Whatever you throw into the "ethers" will bounce right back at you. Period.
greypencils: This post is a response to another thread where a certain lawyer was recorded assaulting his wife & traumatizing his kids in the process. I do believe it is possible to live in marital bliss without domestic violence from either spouse. I am married so this is me speaking from experience. This is free advice, its implementation is up to you.
1. The first thing is to change that mindset of beating a woman to control her. If you are resolved in your heart that there is no other way, there is NOTHING I can say to convince you. Have that mindset and make that resolve not to hit your wife irrespective of the provocation
2. Realize that you as the man of the house, You are in full control of your home. No be your surname she dey bear? She is your 'property' to love and to cherish and to discipline if need be. The issue now is how to discipline your wife without hitting her.
These are some ways. A. Be a good person. Love your wife, don't tell her, show her. Spend time with her. Provide what you can and help around the house. You can't command authority or respect from your wife when you are night crawling, going round the clubs with girls instead of spending time with her and your children. You can't come home drunk at 3.00am smelling of another woman's perfume and expect her to stay silent as the loyal submissive wife you expect her to be. You can't expect her to respect you WHEN YOU ARE BEING IRRESPONSIBLE. It is irresponsibility to club SERIALLY leaving your wife and children entering your house at odd hours of the night. No woman with self respect will stand for that. You are a married man with a family. If you know you can't leave the night life alone, marry a dunce who will take all your excesses without question. Unfortunately for you, they don't exist, they demand accountability, be accountable. That is the meaning of being responsible.
B. Read A again & practice it.
C. Once A & B is established, your wife knows you are a rare breed and she will do EVERYTHING you ask her to do. I PROMISE YOU. Those times when she is being very quarrelsome, remind her of your GOOD nature, remind her that girls are out there to grab you if she ever let's you go with her bad behavior.
D. If she is still being quarrelsome, leave the house. WHAT I DO is to tell my wife I LOVE HER but I CANT STAY IN THE SAME HOUSE WITH HER WITH THAT ATTITUDE. I say that every time before I walk out even with me brimming with anger. I always come back late at night to meet a sober wife.
E. I haven't tried this before because I haven't had to. Refuse her food. Simple. She will feel some other woman is feeding you. This makes her feel she is about to lose you. She will align and behave better.
F. If that doesn't work, move out of the house for a few days. Take only a few things. Let her know you are leaving not because you have another woman you want to sleep with. Rather you are leaving because of her quarrelsome attitude. She will come around begging you.
If None of the above breaks her, move out permanently. She is not supposed to be your wife. STAY SEPARATED. You may remarry if you so wish.
If the house she is staying is yours, sell it while she is still there. Na your house. Just make sure your children are either in boarding school, with you or away at a relatives place when the new owners want to take possession of the house. She will either sort herself or come running to you.
If you are not willing to sell your house, pretend it has been sold and arrange for someone to play the part of buyer/new owner. And if you don't own a house, Move out, get another flat for yourself. There are ways to live your life quietly without stress, talking too much or flexing muscle. Doing this is the real flex.
Bump.
Those are impressive perspectives right above.
Most times, when a woman is being irrational, she's trying to tell you something and feels you're not listening to her. Because men and women have different neurological brain wirings and monthly hormonal cycles, these masculine-feminine clashes usually exist based on communication differences. Learning more about "emotional intelligence" and having an intentional knowledge of the different "love languages" would greatly help folks to understand their partners better.
ONLY folks (men) who pay attention to little details, who have a higher state of understanding and maturity would immediately grab the thrust of the OP's brutally honest post here.
QueenRebecca: I like everything you said here and I would like to use it to counter people offline.
I'll be glad if you can provide concrete evidence to support these claims.
@QueenRebecca... How's it going?
Sure, I like the fact that you asked and want to know more. I'll give you some credible sources such as the "World Economic Forum" to show where these radical Islamic Jihadist terror groups get their sources of fundings from such: as armed robberies, drug trafficking, credit card scams and other online frauds, kidnappings, illegal mining, Zakat donations, state sponsorships from countries such as Iran, illegal crude oil sales, etc. These FACTS have been in the public domain for decades and can be found online, so they are NOT mere speculations. Watch the 3 attached videos and read more right BELOW:
Al Qaeda has (had) five principal sources of funding:
1. The personal wealth of Osama bin Laden, 2. other wealthy individuals, principally located in the Persian Gulf area, 3. front companies operated for profit, 4. illegal activities, such as money-laundering or smuggling, and finally, 5. charities, where inadvertent or intentional diversion of funds finances terror, not benevolent activities.
InfoGuru118: Former military head of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has officially acknowledged that the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola won the historic June 12, 1993, presidential election, News360 Nigeria reports.
Babangida’s revelation was contained in his autobiography, A Journey in Service, launched in Abuja on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Through the book reviewer, former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Babangida admitted that Abiola, who contested under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), secured both the majority of votes and the required geographical spread to be declared president.
“There was no doubt in my mind; MKO Abiola won the election. He satisfied all the requirements,” Babangida stated in the book.
He described the annulment of the election as the most challenging decision of his life but expressed relief that former President Muhammadu Buhari posthumously recognized Abiola’s victory and honored him with the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) title, which is reserved for Nigerian presidents. https://news360ng.com/breaking-babangida-finally-admits-mko-abiola-won-june-12-election/
He's ONLY stating the obvious thing the whole world knew back in 1993. That needless Presidential election annulment in 1993 led to the brutal bombings and assassination of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Chief Alfred Rewane, Bagauda Kaltho a journalist, the bombing to death of the CSO of MMIA in Ikeja, and many pro-democrats by the special killer squad known as "Strike Force" (led by Major Al-Mustapha with Sergeant Rogers as members) under that criminal called Sani Abacha who stole over 4 billion USD of Nigeria's legit money into foreign offshore banking accounts.
Now IBB is wheelchair-bound and confessing. This is more the reason why all the investments worth over 1 billion USD that MKO Abiola's family lost MUST be restored to the family by the Federal Government in Nigeria. It's left for MKO Abiola's children and the children of those who lost their lives in the deadly and painful pro-democracy struggles of 1993 to 1999, to forgive him after he has made a special personal apology.
Last but not least, I must commend the former President Buhari for posthumously recognizing Chief Abiola’s victory and honoring him with the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) title, which is ONLY reserved for Nigerian presidents.
Abagworo: Truth is that no Igbo man is a billionaire. There are just so many Igbo multimillionaires in their hundreds of thousands if not millions. A millionaire is anyone worth more than 1.5 billion Naira to under 1.5 trillion Naira. Only few Igbo men are worth up to 200 billion Naira and above and that's the Tony Elumelus, Arthur Ezes, Orji Kalus, Orjiakos etc
I'm proud of being one of the multimillionaires of Igbo extraction right from my 20s
You meant to write: "NO Igbo person is a USD billionaire." It's highly irresponsible for some random bloggers and YouTubers to mislead the public by referring to unknown Igbo people with "questionable" sources of income as "billionaires" when these are just USD millionaires or multimillionaires (assuming they are legitimate and not into criminal enterprise).
Based off of the Forbes ranking of legitimate global billionaires and the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, if you're NOT rated on those two lists worldwide, then you're NOT a legit USD billionaire.
The remaining folks below that legit global ranking of USD billionaires are the USD millionaires and USD multimillionaires. Period.
Houseontherock1: Billionaires don't need to show off- the records are there! The index relies on a mixture of public and private data, like stocks, real estate, and businesses, minus debts and liabilities. They use derived/reported information that is valued with comparisons to public competitors. You can't hide billions
SmartPolician: You people must not think you are the best in everything while others are just observers. Be humble and stop boasting. Everything no be competition.
Maxymilliano: The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has said there is no evidence that the United States Agency for International Development is funding Boko Haram or any terrorist group.
Mills stated after meeting with the Nigeria Governors Forum in Abuja late Wednesday night that no nation condemns Boko Haram’s violence more strongly than the US.
He assured all that if any evidence is found, the US government will work with the Nigerian government to investigate it.
Recall that on February 13, Congressman Scott Perry accused USAID of funding terrorist groups, including Boko Haram.
Boko Haram is a terrorist group founded in 2002 by Mohammed Yusuf. The group’s objectives included promoting Sunni Islam and eliminating Shia Islam in Nigeria.
Over the years, thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives, billions of Naira worth of property has been destroyed, and many families have been displaced.
Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, made this statement during the first hearing of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency.
The session, titled “The War on Waste: Stamping Out the Scourge of Improper Payments and Fraud,” focused on alleged misappropriations of taxpayer funds.
“Who gets some of that money? Does that name ring a bell to anybody in the room? Because your money, your money, $697 million annually, plus the shipments of cash funds in Madrasas, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, ISIS Khorasan, terrorist training camps. That’s what it’s funding,” he said.
As a result, the Senate has called on the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, along with the heads of the National Intelligence Agency and the Defence Intelligence Agency, to address allegations of terrorist funding involving USAID.
In response to a question, the US Ambassador stated that the US has strict policies to prevent USAID or any other US assistance from being diverted to terrorist groups like Boko Haram.
He stated, “Let me be clear—there is no friend of Nigeria stronger in condemning Boko Haram’s violence and disregard for human life than the United States. We have designated Boko Haram as a foreign terrorist organisation since 2013, blocking the group from transferring assets to the US and allowing us to arrest and seize its members.
We cooperate in investigations with the Nigerian government. I can assure you that we have strict policies and procedures to ensure that USAID funding or any other US assistance, whether from USAID, the Department of Defence, or the State Department, is not diverted to terrorist groups like Boko Haram.
“There is absolutely no evidence of such diversion, and if we ever had evidence that any programme funding was being misused by Boko Haram, we would immediately investigate it with our Nigerian partners.
“So, when it comes to Boko Haram, the United States stands with Nigeria in wanting to rid this country of the scourge that this organisation represents.” He clarified that President Donald Trump’s administration did not cut assistance but implemented a 90-day pause to develop ways to make it more effective.
Mills explained, “No assistance has been cut yet, and no decisions have been made about the future of our assistance. In fact, US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has said that this is not about ending foreign assistance to our partners like Nigeria. It’s about making our assistance more effective and aligning it with US government policies and interests. “That’s what this 90-day pause is for. However, there are waivers for life-saving assistance, such as support for HIV patients, maternal and child nutrition, and internally displaced people. So that continues. In 90 days, we will know where we stand.”
Regarding other issues discussed with the 36 state governors, the US Ambassador mentioned that he outlined the embassy’s vision for the future of the US-Nigerian relationship.
He stated, “I explained to them that we are going to focus on four key priorities in the coming years. The first is improving the business environment to increase trade and investment between the United States and Nigeria.
“Second, a renewed focus on improving transparency and accountability in Nigeria, fighting corruption, and empowering Nigerian voices advocating for more transparency. “Third, we want to be more engaged at the subnational level, at the state level, and with local governing authorities. I believe the embassy needs to engage more in this area as we develop our programs and assistance.
“Lastly, we discussed our health care programmes, which are a large part of US assistance to Nigeria. As these programmes succeed—such as reducing HIV cases and eradicating polio—we want to ensure their sustainability and transition them to the Nigerian government at the federal and state levels.”
Mills stated that the aim is to ensure the sustainability of these health programmes and transfer them to the Nigerian government for effective management, helping to create a stronger healthcare future.
That so-called "Rethuglican" Congressman Scott Perry from Pennsylvania was pulling made-up stuff out of his ass tbh. It just didn't make sense watching the full video (attached as the 3rd video right BELOW) of his wild speculations about USAID funds being used to fund various jihadist terror groups! This was clearly an attack aimed at pulling down the entire Dems political structure.
Those of us who have a deep knowledge of global security analysis know full well that the REAL sources of funding for these jihadist terror groups such as Al-Qaeda and its several affiliates such as Al-Shabab operating in Somalia, the JNIM operating in over half of Mali, Niger Republic, and Burkina Faso, etc, are from donations from radical Islamic organizations worldwide, illegal mining, kidnappings, annual donations of millions of USD from Gulf Arab countries to terror groups to prevent attacks on their oil-rich countries, and more.
There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with restructuring the USAID to cut costs for the United States but to say that the funds are used to fund terrorist organizations without proof is absolute nonsense!

Wisdomkosi: Pan Niger Delta Forum leader, Edwin Clark, is dead.
Aged 97, the former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South leader’s death was confirmed in a statement by a representative of the family, Prof. C. C. Clark, on Tuesday.
The statement read, “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday, 17th February 2025.
The last of the nonagenarian "Titans" are indeed gracefully bowing out... Chief Ayo Adebanjo and now Chief Edwin Clark.
The Godfather, Prof. Wole Soyinka's ascendancy to a "higher state of vibration" is the one I subliminally dread the most but it will come someday. We keep truckin'.
Great men leaving their footprints in the sands of time.
Rebuker: Yesterday, Sowore posted a video showing a mild drama that occurred during the Lagos State 2025 Marathon between him and Sanwo-Olu’s men. He shared the video on his X handle, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption:
"How occupying a canopy after the Lagos Marathon 10k infuriated some rogue elements who assaulted our crew members and journalists, leading to unprovoked attacks, which led to the seizure of a camera belonging to one of our journalists. They insisted on viewing and deleting all the content because it caught them live attacking our crew in Lagos."
However, Punch newspaper reported today that the Take It Back (TIB) Movement has condemned what it described as a “disgraceful attack” on its leader, Omoyele Sowore, and movement members during Saturday’s Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Director-General of TIB Global, Sowore and his team participated in the 10km race but were met with violence and harassment at the finish line in Eko Atlantic.
The statement alleged that thugs, reportedly “sponsored by the Lagos State Government,” assaulted Sowore and his team, including members of the press.
"After crossing the finish line, Sowore and his comrades returned to the tents provided for participants, where they sat to address the media, including a Daily Trust reporter who had followed them throughout the race," the statement read.
The movement claimed that some individuals approached them, insisting that the space was designated for “government dignitaries” and that they should vacate the area.
Sowore reportedly questioned this assertion, challenging why non-participants were given priority over those who had completed the race.
A team member assured the coordinators that they would only be there temporarily while waiting for other team members, after which they left.
TIB alleged that about 10 minutes later, a group of thugs launched an unprovoked attack on Sowore, his team, and members of the press.
"The media crew covering the event was not spared, as they were also harassed and assaulted," the statement alleged.
According to TIB, the attackers targeted their equipment, forcibly seizing a camera belonging to a media crew member named Happiness.
"Her camera was forcefully taken in an attempt to delete footage of the attack," the group stated, adding that as of the time of the statement, the camera had not been returned.
In response, TIB demanded immediate action from the Lagos State Government and marathon organizers.
"We demand the immediate return of the stolen camera and footage, as well as a public apology from the marathon organizers for their complicity in this politically motivated aggression," the statement read.
TIB highlighted that Sowore has participated in at least four editions of the Lagos City Marathon and described the attack as an “affront to the principles of sportsmanship.”
As of press time, neither the Lagos State Government nor the organizers of the marathon had responded to the allegations.
Sowore was attacked in Lagos by thugs alongside crew members of his media outfit while participating in the marathon.
The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is one of Nigeria’s most prestigious road races, attracting elite athletes, casual runners, and government dignitaries.
