Krucifax: Over the past 12 months, there have been several notable aviation accidents worldwide. Here are some of the most significant incidents:
Voepass Linhas Aéreas Flight 2283 On August 9, 2024, a Voepass Linhas Aéreas ATR 72 crashed in a residential area near Vinhedo, São Paulo, Brazil, killing all 62 people on board.
Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 On December 25, 2024, an Azerbaijan Airlines Boeing 737-800 crashed while attempting an emergency landing near Aqtau International Airport in Kazakhstan, resulting in 38 fatalities among the 67 people on board.
Jeju Air Flight 2216 On December 29, 2024, a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crashed into a fence while attempting to land at Muan International Airport in South Korea, leading to 179 fatalities among the 181 people on board.
American Eagle Flight 5342 Collision On January 29, 2025, an American Eagle Embraer ERJ-145 collided mid-air with a Sikorsky UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter while approaching Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in the United States, resulting in 67 fatalities among the 67 people on both aircraft.
This list does not include other smaller less well reported crashes and incidents including the ones in Nigeria.
That Jeju Air plane crash was the most horrendous (and easily avoidable) of them all. If that fence had been removed earlier, the Boeing 737-800 plane would have had enough time to slow down based on its own propulsion after landing.
Delta Airlines needs a new management team. This is one too many near-fatal incidents affecting some of their aircraft within 6 months! This flipping over of the CRJ in the snow is like another icy Hudson River miracle.

fer.gie.001post=134182860: OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
Our attention has been drawn to the recent false rumors alleging that Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko is planning to marry Nollywood actress Chika Ike as his seventh wife and that she is pregnant for him. We categorically state that these claims are entirely baseless and a product of malicious speculation. Similarly, reports claiming he made statements about Tuface and polygamy are completely untrue. As a public figure and with his wife also being an actress, it is not unusual for bloggers seeking attention to fabricate such stories. However, Senator Nwoko is currently on a national assignment, focused on delivering on his political mandate, and has no time for distractions. This office remains available to journalists for verification of information, and we remind media practitioners of the consequences of spreading fake news. The public is advised to disregard these rumors and rely only on official statements from his office.
Signed Director of Communications Office of Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko
I stated clearly in a post just yesterday that this story from that irresponsibly run, rogue publication, so-called "Gist lover" is a PURE fabrication. That publication is extremely notorious for publishing highly misleading and defamatory stories and it's only the gullibility of a large swathe of embarrassingly ignorant and impressionable bigots and largely young readers that keeps these crappy publications going.
The Ned Nwoko I know doesn't go for young women who are less than 20 years of age as wives.
As an international lawyer, if Ned gets sufficiently provoked by this highly irresponsible, fake viral story, he will not hesitate to file defamation charges in court against those creeps like he has done in the past.
AMINDA: Yes, same one. Going by your logic, it's safe to say that Sanwo-olu and even Tinubu are irrelevant and worked against themselves by supporting Obi, since they lost Lagos in a relatively free and fair election. They only managed to win the gubernatorial through voter suppression and by invoking tribal sentiments. Buhari, Ribadu, Ganduje et al lost their states to Atiku, but out of all these people, it's only Elrufai (his most vocal Northern champion) whom you guys accuse of working against Tinubu, just to provide justification for your betrayal.
When are you guys going to admit that Tinubu was grossly unpopular in 2023 and now, even more so (he's been tested now and found lacking). He won with the least margin ever in Nigeria's political history. Despite all these, the numbers still show that the core North delivered Tinubu through the margins he got, at the time when even most Yorubas were too timid to openly support his campaign for fear of obidients (5.5m out of his 8.3m total was from the North.
Tinubu does not even have the entire Southern base in his grip and could only salvage 4 out of 6 states in the Southwest, 1 state out of 6 in the Southsouth (Rivers state under questionable circumstances) and zero state in the Southeast. It wasn’t the Northern minorities that made Tinubu president (they mostly voted Obi in protest of muslim-muslim ticket). It was the Northern majority (despite splitting their votes 3 ways between Tinubu, a very formidable Northern Atiku and to a lesser extent, Kwankwaso who still got over a million votes). Numbers don't lie.
Tinubu would have been better off consolidating on his Northern base, not thinking he could replace the Northern majority with the minorities. To totally get the votes of Northern minorities, Tinubu will have to change his muslim-muslim ticket (suicide) or get CAN and all the pastors to endorse his muslim-muslim ticket (a set trap), all while improving on the economy.
Nksleek: Two Female Job Seekers Rescued From Human Part Dealers In Port Harcourt
Two female job seekers from Delta State has been rescued from human parts dealers in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Focus Naija can report that this was disclosed by ace human right activist, Isreal Joe who assisted in the rescue of the job seekers simply identified as Blessing and Praise.
According to Isreal Joe, the two ladies were lured with a job offer to Bayelsa State before they were redirected to Port Harcourt for the job opening.
Arriving Port Harcourt, the two ladies unknowingly boarded a mini bus where two of the male occupants subdued them with guns and took them to a destination unknown to them.
Thereafter, the kidnappers contacted their family members and demanded for five million naira ransom or the young ladies would be butchered and their parts sold to raise the money.
Miraculously, the human part dealers who had already stripped and butchered another lady in front of their captives suddenly developed cold feet after stripping them for butchering as well.
They however demanded for N200,000 which was crowd funded and paid into a business POS account provided by the dealers. To God be the glory, they released the two job seekers while slaughtering and separating the body parts of other victims for sale.
Iweakbro: See the old fool that wants to split Delta, and become governor of Anioma. Useless pig. He doesn't care if we will begin to sit at home.
He doesn't care about the insecurity that we are experiencing from the igbo criminals running from soludo.
He doesn't care about the rampant kidnapping in Ogwashi, Azagba Ogawashi, Isele Ukwu, and some parts of Asaba.
He doesn't care about executing his constituency projects.
Al he cares about is creating a looting channel by wanting to add We Anioma to the east.
Did we beg you? Did we complain of marginalization? Is power not being equally shared? Fool!!!
That's serious. The kidnappings are practically going on in Aniocha South and Oshimili LGAs. The steps taken by the Azagba of Asaba and his team as reported online looks sufficient on paper but a more detailed use of advance technologies such as surveillance and attack drones would be needing by the government in addition to the complementary use of undercover law enforcement agents. The death penalty by electric chairs and lethal injections is what I have advocated for years for all these crazy crimes yet the Governors and lawmakers keep pussyfooting on the use of capital punishments. Till date, that notorious armed robber and kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike who is from Anambra State and his vicious gang members are still alive since getting arrested in 2017 for armed robberies, murders and kidnappings commited from the early 2000s in Lagos State, Edo State, and the the Eastern States before he migrated to Lagos with his ill-gotten money pretending to be a legitimate business person while living in the elite Magodo Estate where current and retired senior officials of Lagos State Government and moguls live. Imagine the nerve. He's now asking for a plea bargain through his lawyer. What about the families of those he killed and kidnapped for ransom in Lagos State and the East of Nigeria? How would they feel about that and the ridiculous slow criminal justice system?
Iweakbro: Foolish idiot. I am from Oshimili North LGA. Atuma to be precise. I am saying the mind of we Anioma people. Walk on the street of Asaba or anywhere and ask an Anioma man what he thinks about the state creation and listen for yourself.
All these Igbo tools. You want to claim us by force. We speak Igbo but don't want to Identify with your inferiority complex. Efulefu!
I did advanced web searches because I'm very Internet-savvy and could ONLY find a few past cases but NOT this current case of the "military" confirming it. Give me a Web link to the current confirmation by the military if you have it so that it can be followed up ASAP.
Mbanda: That's not true don't even go there. Ogun state na Baba in the whole world. Ogun state governor suppose to be doing this not soludo.
Take that your lie elsewhere.
The random events that annoyingly happened in Ogun State is absolutely NO where near the goings on in Eastern Nigeria especially Anambra State where a dangerous mix of many evil spiritualists and Dibias, ritual killers, armed robbers, rapists and vicious kidnappers are working together (as bluntly confirmed in the media by Governor Soludo) commit heinous crimes that can ONLY be compared with the vicious crimes that occurred back in the late 1990s to the 2000s when Anambra, Abia, and a few other Igbo States were hit hard by armed robbers, rapists, Kidnappers, etc.
NO such sequence of criminal events as described above is going on in Ogun State as I type this as confirmed by people that I know on the ground who are moving around peacefully in the cities and towns of Ogun State (which houses the largest number of manufacturing industries in Nigeria ahead of the nearby Lagos State).
No doubt, eternal vigilance is key, and the security agencies have surreptitiously swung into action to know who the few random fake Scammers hypnotizing some random idiots to mine skulls in that state are. It's not a case of people just acting on their own... and these cases of mining skulls is all over Nigeria based off of the crime data reports available to me from all the majority 5 Igbo-speaking states, to the Niger Delta states, to the North of Nigeria with arrests of some Fulanis and others for skull mining over the years into recent times. A lot of these cases can be found by doing a simple Google Search of the keywords: "Ritual killings in Enugu," "Ritual killings in Delta State," "Ritual killings in Anambra State," etc, for instance and you will see lots of these cases even till recently.
They Yoruba folks I have observed are notorious for always exposing these cases of criminalities in their midst and the major media in the West of Nigeria readily report these cases and that's why it wrongly seems like Ogun State where the founder of this Website hails from is in the news.
olatade: Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko seem to be going through marital troubles as speculations of a new wife arise.
Regina, who recently returned from London after attending the premiere of Ayo Makun’s movie The Waiter, has unexpectedly deactivated her Instagram page.
A swift confirmation by Gistreel revealed that her account was no longer accessible but may be restored sooner or later.
Adding to the speculation, the actress did not publicly celebrate her husband’s recent political move to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Observers also noted that she had stopped posting about him and had not been engaging with his social media updates.
Amid the ongoing rumors, reports claim that actress Chika Ike, who recently announced her pregnancy with maternity photos, has welcomed a child allegedly fathered by Nwoko. According to online sources, Chika is now set to replace Regina and move into the billionaire’s mansion.
Controversial blogger Gistlover fueled the speculation with a cryptic post, stating: “Hello Tueh Tueh, GLB Nation! Wahala don happen! Another senior actress don born for billionaire, little billionaire wife don run comot for Instagram. Ah, which kind wahala be this?”
This story is unverified yet. The so-called "gist lover" is a rogue publication to me and has been known to publish misleading and highly defamatory information in the past. That the 24-year-old (who is married to Ned Nwoko) cannot be reached online via IG can be due to many things.
Ned Nwoko is someone that I know full well doesn't tolerate defamation against himself by others as an international lawyer. Whoever is behind this "gist lover" and the story about the 40-year-old Chika Ike's pregnancy had better be correct otherwise Ned will not take things lightly. He is NOT like the Nigerian President Bola Tinubu that is annoyingly laid back about punishing those defaming his person and family online and offline. Besides, Ned has a penchant for picking all his women when they are in their late teens right up to 20 years of age... So, this pregnancy story looks suspect. Period.
mauchiz: Girls/ladies should stop walking about, they should leave men alone, except you are courting someone.
We in nairaland.com should educate our female relatives and neighbours, let's inform them on what is happening in Nigeria now. They are doing organ harvesting, forest between River State and Owerri, River State and Abia state is full of dead bodies, they sell people's body parts to doctors.
Organ harvesting is the yahoo yahoo in Nigeria, be careful, trust no one, everybody is a suspect.
Let's educate people around us, kidnapping and killing is going on everyday in Nigeria.
Why has Tinubu not sentenced this people to death by hanging, is suspicious, how can a president not do anything to people that are caught with human parts?
We need to impeachment Tinubu for this offence, they should let Nigerians know if they are the ones sending them, if they are not, why are they still alive?
Why has he refused to sign there death warrant.
Nigerians should better wakeup, Nigeria politicians will not allow Nigerians have a life, why?
Everthing is expensive, security not guaranteed again in Nigeria. Everybody is quiet as if everything is OK, we need to take this issue seriously. Nigerians have a right to live and not be killed by ritualists.
If Tinubu is not ready to kill this people by firing squad, he should resign. Why are we quiet over this issue? Why?
Nobody knows the next victim, People are kidnapped in River State forest, if parents don't meet up, the victim is killed and there body parts sold.
Nigerians wake up from sleep, there is fire on the mountain, nobody knows who will be there next victim
What is your source for this information and why hasn't the Police hierarchy in Rivers State and Abuja and your local politicians in Rivers State and Imo State been informed?
I don't fully doubt that such crimes like this exist because during the President Buhari era, I read online and here on NL that such things are going on between the Rivers State and Abia State borders. Abia State was fingered as the origin of the criminals who kidnapped people and killed those whose families could not pay the ransom monies. A female survivor narrated the killing of kidnapped victims (for rituals and supposed body parts sales) in her presence after her family paid for her release.
Last but not least, you guys in Rivers State and Imo States have Governors, the mass media, Federal and State lawmakers and more you can reach. Tinubu is NOT the one to be impeached here for any offence but you have to impress it on your local politicians to act fast if the story is true. Period.
PressMyButton: However, the Northern minorities distanced themselves from the plot to oust Tinubu.
One of the notable northern minority groups, the Middle Belt Forum, stated that the region had decided to support a southern presidency in 2027.
The MBF argued that the region had received a better deal under the current administration than under former President Muhammadu Buhari, despite prevailing economic hardships.
According to the MBF’s spokesman, Luka Binniyat, the Middle Belt has secured more political appointments at thenational level and more infrastructural projects than under the previous government.
Sunday PUNCH noted that Middle Belt indigenes in Tinubu’s administration include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume (Benue State), and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda (Plateau State).
“We are having a better deal under Bola Tinubu than under Buhari, even though we are all experiencing economic hardship like everyone else.
“The Middle Belt Forum, for sure, still stands for a southern presidency in 2027. So, it is up to President Tinubu to up his game to attract the Middle Belt when an alternative candidate emerges in 2027,” Binniyat said.
Similarly, indigenous Hausa Christians of Northern Nigeria dissociated themselves from the plot to remove Tinubu in 2027, stating that they would not be pressured into making a decision that could negatively impact the social well- being of their people.
According to the Christian group, Tinubu’s administration had demonstrated a commitment to addressing the insecurity that has plagued many northern states.
“All we want at the moment is inclusivity, as we have many qualified individuals and seasoned politicians capable of holding political office.
“Instead of calling for the President’s removal in 2027, we are urging him to consider some of our people for appointments, as we refuse to inherit anyone’s enemies,” said the National Chairman of the group, Daniel Musa.
Some indigenes of Plateau State also declared support for Tinubu’s second term. Speaking with Sunday PUNCH under the auspices of the Plateau Initiative for the Development and Advancement of the Natives in Jos, the indigenes acknowledged the President’s contributions to the development of their region. The association’sSecretary General, Dickson Auta, said,
“He (Tinubu) has indeed shown that he is a detribalised leader because he has been striving to spread developmental projects across every part of the country.
“Our people are only concerned about good governance, and if Mr President continues on this developmental path, I am sure our people will have no choice but to support his ambition in 2027 should he decide to run for a second term.
In fact, we are already supporting him.” Also, the Southern Kaduna People’s Union commended Tinubu for appointing individuals from Southern Kaduna to key positions.
A spokesperson for SOKAPU, Josiah Abraks, cited the appointment of Gen. Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff and the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Science, Kachia, as examples of the President’s inclusivity, which has benefited the people of Southern Kaduna.
“The southern part of Kaduna is willing to partner with whoever is ready to work with us to ensure our growth and development,” he added.
The disposition of a large part of the Middle Belt or North-Central of Nigeria is heart-warming but that shouldn't be taken for granted at all. It's not the politicians that will largely go out to vote, but those folks on the street level.
President Tinubu and his team (including the State Governors) have 2025 to early 2026 to ensure governance is further decentralized through restructuring of items in the exclusive list... Then make sure that security improves in major black spots with massive deployments of small-sized attack and surveillance drones while ensuring that the artificial inflation and high cost of living in Nigeria drops. They have to economically stabilize things and take note of the FACT that Donald Trump is already working out a major deal to end the Russian-Ukraine War and he also wants global crude oil prices to drop in 2025 while revving up U.S. crude oil sales to India (which is now the country with the largest population in world ahead of China since 2023) and other countries.
Once that is done and the cost of living improves, the far Northerners on the street level and most folks in different regions in Nigeria will be happy to vote him and his VP for a second-term. Just pay attention to the angry complaints of folks on the street level and solve the pain or problem they are rightly complaining about otherwise the 5th columnists and enemies of Nigeria will take over to return Nigeria to the feudal status quo. It's NOT rocket. Period.
DuBLINGreenb: I did this, I am from Rivers State I didn’t see any DNA match who is Igbo.
I matched a lot of Deltans, Bayelsans, Rivers, Some carribean people etc.
But 0 everybody else.
Admittedly I saw 1 Fulani and a few Yorubas but that’s through marriage of my 4th great grand mothers sister on my mothers side that sister had a child who probably married a fulani or Hausa or someone who would later give his or her children Arabic names but in my results I am 0% Yoruba 0% Hausa 0% fulani 0% Igbo
99.7% Ijaw 0.3% unassigned
So igbo people, Rivers state is not Igbo. Thank you.
Regions: Delta, Edo, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa
@DuBLINGreenb
That's massively insightful... Congratulations. Are you originally from Bonny Island?
Second, did you take this test with 23andme? They did an update to their database back in 2023 and added more ethnic groups especially from Africa.
AncestryDNA also uses this percentages format and has an updated database of DNA samples. I have followed these DNA testing companies since the early 2000s and the fascinating works of Dr. Kittles from the late 1990s (who is a co-founder of the DNA testing company AfricanAncestry based in the United States).
I'm aware for decades now that due to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, the Aros and their Abam and Ohafia allies in the present Abia State captured a lot of interior tribes now collectively called Igbos (Ibos) in modern times and brought them to the coastal areas such as Bonny and Kalabari for sale to the Ijaws (who acted as middlemen) for the final purchase by the White slave traders in the 1700s to the early 1800s. Historical and archival records kept by the White folks show that an estimated 80 percent of the Ibos sold as slaves in that period to the Americas through Bonny alone were females! That's essentially how Ibo presence got to those Ijaw areas including the notorious, deported middle man Chief Jaja of Opobo who was originally from Amaigbo in Imo State but was sold as a slave in the 1800s and brought to Bonny as a child.
I'm aware that historically, Arochukwu itself is originally Ibibioland, but a war that took place between the 1690s and 1720 led to the Ibo invasion. A lot of Aro culture in terms of foods, religion, clothing, language loan words and writing in form of "nsibidi," etc, are copied directly from the Ibibios and their Efik and Ejagbam (Ekoi) cousins of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States
I read an article from Punch newspaper a few years ago in the 2010s where the Head of the Ogoni Council of Kings said Ogonis are a fusion of Ibibio people and migrants from Ghana. He stated clearly that a lot of words in Ogoni language are similar with those from Ghana but he didn't say which part of Ghana but I have no doubt it was Ghanaian boat people or migrant fishing communities from Ghana.
The Ijaws too are said to have migrant Ghanaian boat people in their bloodlines and I'm NOT surprised that Ijaws are matrilineal like you have in some Ghanaian ethnic groups. Unlike other Nigerian ethnic groups, Ijaws are NOT paternal or a patriarchal society where you essentially choose or identify with the Ancestry of where your father originally comes from.
You have to be careful with the comments though, because many of the comments, especially fawning comments, can be from vested interests or AI (in this case CBN-sponsored)
Indeed, thanks for the reminder here which serves to alert every reader of this thread.
I do have a vast knowledge of netiquete and Internet security issues since the mid-1990s when I actively started using the Internet and how these trolls and those who engage in phishing, etc, post all kinds of comments to distract and scam unsuspecting online users.
YouTube has its negatives in that regard but they also rely on we the users to report any suspicious activities. I have reported a highly misleading YouTube video to the YouTube moderators in the past and the fake video was removed for promoting falsehoods and pure incitement.
shrinkchido: Renowned broadcast journalist and gender advocate, Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, has secured a multimillion-naira endorsement deal as the brand ambassador for Beauty Secret Luxury Med Spa.
The partnership aims to promote women's wellness as a crucial pathway to holistic mental healthcare. Onyechere Sydney-Jack, known for her advocacy and media influence, is expected to amplify the importance of self-care in achieving overall well-being.
This collaboration marks a significant step in bridging beauty, wellness, and mental health awareness for women across Nigeria and Africa at large.
Didn't realize that Adaora Onyechere in now married... Sydney-Jack must be a Rivers State dude. Nice one.
komek: They should pull down that community they call Cable Point in Asaba. Go to Oduke and Bonsaac areas. These are the hide out of these criminals in Asaba .
They are mainly from across the Niger. If I become the governor of that state, I will make I sure I chase them out of that State
Goodvibes007: Not the first time. Some skull miners arrested not long ago in Ogun state were also also from Anambra and Imo.
Indeed, I remember that heinous crime you talked about took place in 2024 and was widely circulated in the online and offline media and posted here on NL. A lot of vicious crimes taking place in the Western States of Nigeria are usually committed by non-Yoruba criminals.
Because of the cosmopolitan nature of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo States, you have especially young Igbo criminals, foreign Fulani illegal herders and some Niger Delta Ijaws (crimes in the waterways of Lagos, Arepo in Ogun, Ondo) committing all kinds of vicious crimes in those states based on credible crime statistics and data available to me for over 3 decades now. One notorious NL troll and creep had started insulting Yorubas right on page one of this thread without realizing that those who committed this latest crimes are his fellow Igbos (Arrested Anambra indigenes are usually the major criminals and culprits I have seen from the crime data over the decades from the 1990s, but you have some from Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, etc).
Look at them here too caught while trying to kidnap in Abuja👇
I tweet this early last year that all the kidnappers in Abuja are 99.9% Ibo'sCriminals. They want to complete with Northerners who their parents are FX bnessmen and farmers through kidnapping innocent people.
haven't brought crime to the West. Many crimes are committed by some young Igbos in the West and other parts of Nigeria and West Africa because of the ease of movements across States and borders.
It has always been like that for over 30 years now based on credible crime statistics that I have followed for years. It was very bad from the late 1990s right into the late 2010s with luxury bus robberies, kidnappings, bank robberies, child stealing for trafficking purposes, etc.
BadNews: What Is Really Happening Inside This OGUN
Stop asking these kinds of stupid questions. Those who commit a lot of crimes such as murders, traffic robberies, luxury bus robberies, bank robberies, kidnappings, some ritual killings, baby factories, drug trafficking, etc in the Western parts of Nigeria especially in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, etc, are usually done by people from other ethnic groups (with Igbos especially Anambra indigenes leading the pack) based on several crime data from many decades ago that I have seen.
I thought about someone reporting Davido to this man then I went to check the age of Oyetola. It is possible to have a nephew who is your mate but the minister and Tinubu are just 2 years apart. The Governor is somehow cheeky for reminding us that they are nephews, it has a political undertone
Some uncles are even younger than their nephews. There are several cases like that in largely Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.
It's NOT set in stone that an uncle must be older than his nephews or nieces.
The supposedly "cheeky undertone" is what I find rather amusing. Perhaps the reference to Gboyega Oyetola being the "nephew" wasn't originally intended to be denigrating but a lot of inferences can be deduced by different readers.
DaddyCoool: Thanks 4 the link. See some of the comments below.
So basically the difference is that you can open and fund the account from abroad. But they need your proof of income and proof of residence.
My take is that it will make it easier for governments to keep track of you and your money and I don't think that's smart. There is a reason people put their monies in Swiss accounts
@DaddyCoool
My pleasure.
I like the fact that you attached the screenshots here and paid attention to the comments. The comments sections of Internet platforms such as YouTube or IG can be very revealing with user-generated feedbacks. It would do well for the CBN folks to fine tune the NRN accounts program and remove any inefficiencies.
It's better for Diasporans to stick with what's currently working (and a little more efficient in terms of funds transfers and investments). If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
PressMyButton: The Asagba of Asaba in Delta State, HRM Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge SAN, has banned the activities of ‘Eze-Nwanyi’ (female native doctors/goddesses) and other unregulated traditional practitioners.
The decision comes amid concerns that these groups are fueling criminal activities, including kidnappings and ritual-related crimes.
The palace maintained it was a decisive move to curb rising crime in Asaba and its environs.
The announcement follows reports linking native doctors and shrines in Asaba to the murder of an Anambra lawmaker, Justice Azuka, whose body was discovered on the Niger Bridge.
The Asagba, addressing a press conference, expressed grave concern over the situation, stating, “Anything that happens on this land affects us more than anyone else.
It is unacceptable that Asaba has become a hub for these nefarious activities. Consequently, we have decided to take proactive steps to restore peace and order.”
Ban on Female Native Doctors, Shrine Restrictions
The monarch emphasised that many of these practitioners are not of Asaba origin and have taken over the land with criminal motives.
“We have banned the activities of Eze-Nwanyi, who are not of Asaba extraction and are unknown to us. Their activities, I dare say, are nefarious.
“With the recent revelations linking an Anambra lawmaker’s murder to Asaba-based native doctors and shrines, it is clear that they are not just supporting ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ fraudsters but are also involved in kidnappings. From today, they are banned,” he declared.
Additionally, all native doctors operating in Asaba must now register and be regulated under the authority of the Otu-Ihaza, the legislative body of Asaba. The monarch also restricted visits to the Onishe shrine, citing desecration concerns. “That place is being desecrated. People go there for all sorts of reasons. Henceforth, nobody, whether from Asaba or not, may visit the shrine without the approval of the Otu-Ihaza.”
Operation ‘Know Your Tenants
Highlighting the rapid and unmonitored influx of strangers into Asaba, the Asagba introduced Operation Know Your Tenants, mandating landlords to document and keep an inventory of their tenants.
“We do not even know who lives in Asaba anymore. Criminals see Asaba as a safe haven. We are now declaring Operation Know Your Tenants.
“Every landlord must have proper documentation of their tenants so that at any time, we can account for who resides where,” he added.
The monarch urged property owners to cooperate, warning that security measures would be tightened to identify and expel criminal elements.
Hotel Surveillance
Further, the palace will deploy a special task force to hotels across Asaba to inspect guest records.
“We will be going round hotels to check their guest lists. The palace is already collaborating with security agencies to ensure that those using hotels for criminal hideouts are exposed,” he asserted.
The Asagba reaffirmed his support for government efforts in tackling insecurity but stressed that traditional institutions must also take an active role in protecting their communities.
“We stand with the government at all times, but there comes a moment when we must be more proactive. Asaba must not become a breeding ground for crime,” he concluded
FreeStuffsNG: Watch moment man is swallowed by humpback whale
A humpback whale briefly trapped a kayaker in its mouth off Chilean Patagonia before quickly releasing him unharmed.
Adrián Simancas was kayaking with his father, Dell Simancas, when the massive whale suddenly surfaced, trapping the young man and his yellow kayak in its mouth for a few seconds before letting him go.
Dell, just meters away, captured the moment on video while encouraging his son to stay calm.
"I thought it had eaten me and swallowed me", Adrián said.
That was indeed a lucky escape. He could have easily suffered from aphasia.
I cracked up a bit after seeing this video knowing full well that the story of the biblical Jonah getting swallowed by a whale before being spat out was just a complete work of pure fiction because whales can't swallow humans due to the small nature of their throat passages.
seunowa: The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a $45.3 million contract for the feasibility study and engineering design of a rail route linking four seaports in Nigeria’s western region—Badagry Deep Sea Port, Tin Can Seaport, Apapa Seaport, and Lekki Seaport—to the hinterlands.
The Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali disclosed this on Tuesday during the Global Business Report on Arise News, where a clip of his remarks was aired.
Nairametrics obtained the information from the broadcast, noting that the approval was granted during the FEC meeting on Monday, February 3, 2025. Alkali explained that the proposed rail alignment will run from Badagry Deep Sea Port to Tin Can Seaport, Apapa Seaport, Lekki Seaport, Ijebu-Ode, and Kajola, where it will connect to the Lagos-Kano-Maradi Railway Modernization Project. The goal, he said, is to integrate the western seaports into the national rail network to boost freight movement and economic growth.
“The Federal Executive Council has granted approval for detailed feasibility studies and the engineering design of a proposed route alignment from Badagry Deep Sea Port to Tin Can Seaport, from Tin Can to Apapa Seaport, from Apapa Seaport to Lekki Seaport, and then to Ijebu-Ode and Kajola. At Kajola, it will connect to the Lagos-Kano-Maradi Railway Modernization Project. The goal is to link the western ports to hinterland cities,” Alkali stated.
He added, “The contract was awarded at a cost of $45.3 million.”
The minister highlighted that, currently, only Apapa Port is connected to the rail network, with a standard gauge track inside the APMT Terminal used for freight movement between Lagos and Ibadan. A rehabilitated narrow-gauge railway is also operational for cargo transportation from Lagos to Kano.
He further emphasized that linking all four western seaports to the hinterlands would significantly contribute to GDP growth and stimulate economic activity.
What you should know The Federal Government flagged off the first cargo movement on the Lagos-Ibadan rail corridor in September 2023, addressing concerns over the underutilization of the standard gauge railway two years after its commissioning.
During his first official tour of the corridor on September 12, 2023, the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, inaugurated the cargo service at Apapa before traveling to Ibadan via the 157-kilometer rail line.
In October 2024, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) awarded a three-year freight service license to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to operate on the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway until October 2027. The initiative aims to improve rail freight efficiency, reduce road congestion, and lower transport costs.
The licensing of CCECC marked a milestone for Nigeria’s rail sector, making it the first company authorized to operate standard-gauge rail freight services in the country.
Freight services on the rehabilitated Lagos-Kano narrow gauge railway were relaunched on June 6, 2024. Before the official resumption, a trial run successfully transported multiple 40ft import containers from Apapa Port in Lagos to Dala Inland Dry Port in Kano within a few days.
That's an impressive move since the LAKAJI trade route linking the West of Nigeria to the far-North (Kano and Jibia right on the border with Niger Republic) is the busiest in Nigeria based on credible business data from AGOA and other chambers of commerce.
The primary aim of the passenger and cargo rail transportation is to massively lower costs and create better connectivity from one regional economic hub to the other. Costs can essentially be lowered by converting the trains to use dual CNG-diesel fuel which would be much cheaper. It ain't rocket science. Period.
DaddyCoool: Well, the apps charge to make transfers. Also you don't have money in the apps - it's a 3-way biz.
The only thing I don't understand is the difference between this and domiciliary account.
