BJanta:
Unknown Gunmen Now Known. They Are Igbos Who Kill For Human Organs – Soludo

AFTER wrecking havoc in various communities in Anambra State for several months during which many people were kidnapped, killed and sometimes beheaded, many of the so-called unknown gunmen have, at last, become known.

In a space of one year, no fewer than 30 persons, including security operatives, lost their lives through the activities of the unknown gunmen. Many police stations and operational security vehicles were also burnt by the gunmen during their operations.

The situation was so bad that the November 2021 governorship election in Anambra State was threatened such that the electoral umpire, INEC, almost muted the idea of suspending the election. It was at the height of the unknown gunmen saga in the state that Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of the late Professor Dora Akunyili, was killed. Akunyili was felled at Nkpor in Idemili by gunmen after attending a programme in Onitsha where he picked a posthumous award for his late wife.

Other killings by the unknown gunmen were to follow, including those of the lawmaker representing Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the state House of Assembly, Dr. Okechukwu Okoye, a former member of the state House of Assembly, Hon Nelson Achukwu, a woman and her four children who were killed at UGA and an Onitsha based man, Sir Paulinus Mbanugo.

When Governor Chukwuma Soludo assumed office, he could not settle down properly for work immediately because no day passed without stories of gunmen burning police stations and attacking local government headquarters, or killing people. Many communities had to inform their relations residing outside the state not to come home until the situation improves.

Realizing that no meaningful achievement could be recorded under such a situation, Soludo swore to recover the state first before going into the execution of his promised programmes for the people. And so, the battle began. First, he revived the Anambra Vigilante Group and empowered them to be able to face the usually heavily armed gunmen. From all indications, results of the governor’s action are positively showing.

Recently, eight persons suspected to be connected with the murder and beheading of the late Hon Okechukwu Okoye, the lawmaker representing Governor Soludo’s Aguata Constituency 11 and his aide, were arrested by security operatives. Few others have also been picked and they are assisting security operatives in locating the camps in the forests. In these forests, such items, including coffins, charms, dangerous drugs, women, cars of all makes and large sums of money were common features.

Following the routing and smoking out of these gunmen from their camps in the forests, normalcy is gradually returning to the various communities. The routing started with the destruction of one of the most dreaded camps located in the thick forest along the bank of Oseakwa River bordering Ihiala and Ogwuaniocha in Ogbaru local government area where the supposed king of the gunmen, popularly known as Double Lion, held sway.

On the day he and four of his members were killed, Double Lion didn’t see it coming as they were easily gunned down by their breakaway colleagues who have since repented and are now working for the state. It was gathered that they had to eliminate Double Lion and his gang because they jettisoned the original plan by extorting and harassing people during weddings, burials and other ceremonies.

Double Lion, who hailed from Awoidemili in Orsu local government area of Imo State began his gun activities along the now abandoned Awka Etiti – Utuh- Ukpor- Orsumoghu- Lilu- Mbosi- Isekke axis, which used to be the connecting route between Anambra and other states of Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states because of the traffic gridlock along the Onitsha-Owerri road.

The armed gang also created a new operational camp in the Unubi bush, a town located in Nnewi South local government area of Anambra State. However, when the gunmen made that axis their haven and set up similar camps inside Orsumoghu and Lulu forests, motorists abandoned the route after many people had either been kidnapped or killed.

Happenings on that road made Governor Chukwuma Soludo to impose curfew on the entire Anambra South senatorial zone and banned the use of motorcycles at certain times in the zone.

The governor, who was seriously challenged by the gunmen, swore never to surrender the state to them, insisting that his administration must reclaim and make Anambra a livable state.

In the words of the governor, majority of the unknown gunmen are Igbo. “Let us be very clear: These criminals causing mayhem in Anambra are Igbos (dominantly from other South East states) whose real objective is lucrative criminality and foisting their idolatrous religion on the region. Why is it that everywhere they gather and in every camp they operate, there is a deity/idol to which they routinely offer blood in sacrifice? Igbo are known for their enterprise but these criminals are bent on killing Ndigbo businesses.

“The people of the South East, especially Anambra, are predominantly Christians. But with this gang, idolatry is back with vengeance. They forcefully try to convert people, especially the young ones to idolatry by initiating them into cults, swearing oaths to their deities, with the promise of invincibility. Consequently, these youths join them as members and informants.

“Spilling of the blood of the innocent is considered an abomination by our culture and by our Christian religion. We understand that they and harvest human organs for rituals and human sacrifice in their so called camps.

“With their new religion of idolatry and deadly weapons which they use to kill at random, they have tried to create a culture of fear and silence. More recently, the people have begun to question their propaganda, motive and means and they know that they have lost the sympathy of the people. That explains why they desperately tried to ignite a national inter-ethnic crisis by killing some innocent northerners who have lived peacefully in our state for decades to divert attention from their criminality and then seek to re-brand themselves as “defenders of the people.” They have failed, and would continue to fail.”

Five months gone in his administration, Soludo is winning the battle, such that the so-called unknown gunmen have become known.

Those of them who have succumbed to the superior power of the state security apparatus have been ranting and confessing their escapades in the state.

Take the case of Chukwudi, alias 50, for example. The hoodlum, who said he has been part of the unknown gunmen in Anambra State for the past one year, confessed that he had so far killed four persons, including two policemen and two civilians.

‘50’ was caught inside a forest at Ukpor, his home town, in Nnewi South local government area of the state along with other members of his gang by security operatives.

The security operatives had last week stormed the camp and arrested some of the unknown gunmen and destroyed the camp. Items recovered during the raid include arms and ammunition, police and military uniforms, a coffin containing charms and various kinds of drugs.

He said that although many people had been killed inside the camp, including those whose relations already paid ransom, he had not killed more than four people, adding that the last person he killed before their camp was destroyed was at the instance of their leader who ordered him to kill the man because he was a saboteur.

He said that their leader, Ezemuo, (King of spirits) now at large, was doing most of the killings, along with the late Double Lion who was killed at Ihiala.

Chukwudi said: “We killed some people because they were accused of monitoring us and acting as informants to the police and government. The two policemen I killed were at Ozubulu and I did it because the commander ordered me to do so.

Kenya Airways Agent Delays Nigerian Passenger After Altercation At Nairobi Airport, Says ‘Call Your President’

https://saharareporters.com/2025/02/03/viral-video-kenya-airways-agent-delays-nigerian-passenger-after-altercation-nairobi
The Nigeria lady who flew into Kenya from Manchester, England was delayed for 17 hours as stated in the full video and prevented from flying the connecting Kenya Airways flight to Lagos. She CLEARLY stated in the video that two other White folks had been taken care of and given food by the airline staff but whenever it comes to other African passengers, the Kenya Airways staff become condescending.

The FACT that she needed a change of sanitary pads should have been considered and the Kenyan lady had absolutely NO right to sharply retort condescendingly several times that the Nigerian woman should "call the Nigerian President" when the Nigerian female traveler said she was speaking on the phone to the Finance Minister. That response from the Kenyan woman deserves a very strong reprimand because it shows a total lack of tact on her part. Kenyan Airways will pay dearly for this example of bad customer service if that Kenyan female staff is NOT sanctioned. It really pays to listen attentively to the demands of clients (even the ones you think are being too difficult). You'll be surprised that at the end of the day, those clients who have complained will engage in REPEAT business with you and bring in more clients through referrals and improve your business outlook. This is the real world business environment we're talking about here. It must be Nigeria first just like Trump says America first from here on out! Period.
FamilyRe: Late Dr. Ikenna’s Father-In-Law Reveals Reason For $15,000 Child Support by Konquest: 5:05pm On Feb 03, 2025

https://www.gistreel.com/late-dr-ikennas-father-in-law-reveals-reason-for-15k-child-support/

Francis Van-Lare, the father-in-law of the late US-based Nigerian doctor, Dr. Ikenna Erinne, has shed light on the reason for the hefty child support.

In a Facebook post, Van-Lare dismissed allegations against his late son-in-law while clarifying the reasons behind the $15,000 child support order imposed on him.

This came amid the backlash trailing the Van-Lare family, suggesting that the hefty child support triggered the reaction which led to the doctor’s suicide.

“To set records straight, Dr. Ikenna Erinne’s license was never revoked. He had active licenses in Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Maryland. One state cannot revoke all licenses at once, and none were revoked,” Van-Lare stated.

Addressing the hefty child support payment, he explained that the sum was determined due to the special care required for Erinne’s physically challenged son.

“The child support was set that much because he has a physically challenged son needing special care from different medical facilities, plus attending a special needs school that costs money. Courts consider the income of both parents before making decisions,” he added.

Van-Lare expressed his disappointment over Erinne’s actions, stating, “He is not a victim but failed his son and daughter, who are now left without their father. I just thank God he did not shoot my daughter and grandchildren in his madness.”

Questioning the rationale behind taking one’s own life over financial obligations, he added, “Which sane person takes his own life over money he is supposed to use to support his children? He was asked to pay child support, not alimony or spousal support, as my daughter is self-sufficient.”

Despite his critical remarks, Van-Lare extended his condolences. “May his soul rest in peace regardless. My family will raise the children without him.”

That's Francis Van-Lare, the baddest Nigerian Mr. Lover and grandpops! It's a small world. I never knew that it's his daughter that was married to this young doc that took his life on the 26th of January 2025. It's great though that he didn't shoot his special needs son, daughter, nanny and Van-Lare's daughter.

I'm certain Ikenna was depressed over something and perhaps was saddened that he had a son living with special needs and just didn't know how to handle the situation.
We just might NEVER know the full story if he didn't tell anyone. That can take a huge emotional toll on parents if the child has Down's Syndrome or is autistic.
TravelRe: United Airlines Plane Catches Fire On Runway, Passengers Panic by Konquest: 4:40pm On Feb 03, 2025
Raco.on:
"United Airlines plane catches fire on runway, terrified passengers scream, get off."

A United Airlines flight from Houston to New York was evacuated after the plane caught fire on the runway due to an engine issue. Passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The flight was rescheduled for a later time, and a replacement aircraft was arranged. The FAA is investigating the incident.

A United Airlines flight from Houston to New York had to be evacuated Sunday morning after the plane caught on fire on the runway while it was preparing to take off. The incident spread panic among the passengers who started screaming after spotting flames around the wings.

United Airlines Flight 1382, an Airbus A320, aborted its takeoff from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas, due to a “reported engine issue” just after 8:30 a.m., the FAA said in a statement.
A video obtained by FOX 26 Houston shows flames visible on the plane's wing.

In the footage, a flight attendant can be heard instructing passengers to remain seated, while one traveller exclaims, "No, it's on fire!"
Passengers were immediately taken out of the plane and were carried to the terminal by a bus, the FAA statement added.

The flight with 104 passengers and five crew members has been rescheduled to take off at 12.30 pm local time.

Passengers evacuated using stairs and the emergency slide, according to the Houston Fire Department. A video from the scene shows a group of fliers standing on the tarmac.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. The Houston Fire Department stated they did not have to extinguish a fire related to the incident.

A replacement aircraft is set to depart for New York at 12:30 pm, the Houston Airport confirmed. The FAA is investigating the cause of the incident.

The incident took place as two major aviation mishaps shook the country. 67 people died as a military helicopter and an American Airlines plane collided in Washington DC. Seven people died and 19 were injured when a medical transport plane crashed near a busy mall in Philadelphia on Friday.

Another United Airlines plane getting involved in a fire incident but now straight out of Houston, TX.

Is this just a coincidence OR is there simply a major problem brewing from the poor maintenance of some of their aircraft? The airline management has to sit up from here on out! The United Airlines flight which took off from Lagos for the United States ran into a violent air situation just over the Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire airspace last month as well and these have to stop or we boycott United Airlines. 1. There is a long history of maltreatment against your airline, of Nigerian passengers. These passengers include staff of the NCAA.

2. I have advised the passenger that unruly behaviour is inexcusable at any airport and she can be blacklisted by the airline, and even pay fines. The NCAA does not condone unruly behaviour.

3. There is no basis to have tried to forcefully delete her video.

4. You should not have allowed her to board your flight from Nigeria IF she was not qualified due to visa requirements. You issued her boarding passes and let her leave Lagos.

5. She flew into Nigeria via your airline on the same route.

6. She claims to have called the airline BEFORE paying for the ticket and she was told that she was qualified since she own a BRP.

7. The statements made by your staff were inappropriate for someone in the industry. "Call your president," insinuates a lot.

8. You will be asked to provide CCTV footage showing that she threw her used sanitary towels AT your staff rather than place them on the table when asked by your personnel to provide evidence that she was bleeding.

9. The NCAA has invited your Ag. Station Manager in Lagos to a meeting by 1pm today. We will review all of the issues. Attendance is mandatory.

CelebritiesRe: Kanye West's Wife, Bianca Censori's 'Nude' Look At Grammys Red Carpet by Konquest: 3:57pm On Feb 03, 2025
nlfpmod:
Kanye West’s Wife Bianca Censori Shocks by Appearing Fully Naked on Grammys Red Carpet

There’s “barely-there fashion,” and there’s the look that Kanye West’s wife, Bianca Censori, wore on the red carpet at the 2025 Grammy Awards: essentially, naked.

The couple didn’t last long at the event. They were escorted out shortly after Censori flashed the world, Page Six reports, with speculation ramping up as to whether the pair were even invited to the ceremony. West was nominated for Best Rap Song for co-writing “Carnival,” by rap duo ¥$.

West and Censori arrived about two hours before the telecast was set to begin. The couple initially posed side by side and expressionless, staring down the photographers. He wore an all-black ensemble, while she was wrapped in an oversized coat that appeared to be fur. She then coyly turned around and began to drop the coat off her shoulders.

“Let’s see the outfit one time, Bianca! Let’s see the outfit!” one photographer is heard shouting. It’s likely that he was expecting for Censori to reveal, well, an actual outfit.

Instead, she let the coat fall to the floor, exposing her buttocks.

Her “dress” was a skintight piece of completely sheer fabric. When she turned around to show photographers the front of her…“look,” there were no modesty garments underneath the transparent cloth. Her breasts, her nipples, her nether region:
It was all on full display, as West side-stepped out of the shot for her his naked wife to stand for the feverishly shuttering cameras alone.

The sheer fabric is, technically, a dress. You can see a hem line crossing Censori’s upper (upper) thighs.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/obsessed/kanye-wests-wife-bianca-censori-goes-fully-naked-at-grammys-shocks-internet/
Bianca Censori was actually putting on a dress if you look closely. The dress is made of "sheer fabric" and the "hem line" of the dress is clearly visible. Sheer fabric hugs the body contours and makes you look naked but technically you aren't on closer examination.

Nigerian Patient Tries to Woo Indian Nurse.

A video has surfaced online showing a sick Nigerian man trying to get the attention of an Indian nurse treating him, sparking mixed reactions.

In the video, the man is heard repeatedly boasting about how well-endowed Africans are, while the calm nurse responds, saying she doesn’t like Africans. The man then tells the nurse that Indians are not good. In response, the nurse points out that an Indian is the one treating him, to which he replies that Indians are good at treating illnesses but not in bed. He goes on to say that while Indians have two legs, Africans have three, even inviting the nurse to visit him at night so he could prove what Africans are made of.

This interaction has sparked diverse opinions—some believe the man should have focused on recovering from his illness rather than attempting to woo the nurse treating him.

The creepy guy in the video above CLEARLY has an Igbo accent and he's the one filming and recording the conversation. I'm wondering if this is a psychiatric hospital where mental health cases are being treated or just a regular hospital?

By all standards, Indian men don't like this kind of sexual harassment of their woman and have been known to viciously attack and kill people of African origin in the past. So, these folks visiting India should be guided in their utterances. Period.

Bump.

That attached screenshot of the IG post (which had 4,000 likes as of December last year) was obviously intended to play the role of a "devil's advocate" and trigger an online conversation.

That's an extreme scenario of a young lady who allowed herself to be used as a doormat because that's an absolute turnoff. NO "real man" on Earth subconsciously wants that kind of woman in his life for the long-term...Balance is key.

After the nonsense that happened in Wadata plaza last week, it will be almost impossible for the PDP to go to court to declare any seat vacant. All they have to do is claim leadership wahala from the chairmanship of the party.

This leadership matter has been happening since but last weeks fighting on video just gave more people the confidence.

More of this might happen unfortunately and put more strain on the opposition.

ogododo:
FOLLOWING the infiltration of bandits, Boko Haram and ISWAP members in the South-West, monarchs in the zone say they have activated the traditional means of securing the zone.

The traditional rulers also vowed to ensure that the South West would not be a haven for bandits or insurgents.

We’re providing traditional support—Deji of Akure

When asked what steps the monarchs are taking to curb the rising insecurity and influx of bandits, the Chairman, Council of Chiefs in Ondo State, the Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, said they are providing traditional support to address insecurity.

The monarch, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeleye said: “The influx of bandits into some parts of Southwest as raised by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is a pointer to the fact that the Military is seriously working and their efforts at flushing out bandits from the country is yielding the desired results.

“However, with the recent information of their possible influx into the southwest, let me say categorically that the South West cannot be a haven for any bandit group being displaced from far away north.

“The traditional institutions are working with the South-West Governors to ensure that our area is secured.

“On our part, we are reaching out to all our Olus and Chiefs in the forest reserve areas to look out for any strange faces and ensure that they do not allow their subjects or residents of their various communities from harbouring strange faces.

We’ve taken enough steps —Oba Faboro

Also speaking with Vanguard, the chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Ruler. Oba Olori Faboro, said though Ekiti has been peaceful, the fear of invasion only exist in the social media.

Oba Faboro said: “We have taken enough steps, we have Amotekun here and about this time last year, the Governor set up the Agro Marshall, and they patrol our farms. The incident of kidnapping here is not the way it was before over a year ago.

“The police have been doing a fantastic job. All these social media news, I don’t subscribe to them.”

Collaboration between govt and monarchs needed— Orangun of Oke-Ila

Stressing the need for constant collaboration between government and traditional rulers to tackle the menace, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, said: “We must all be vigilant. The Federal Government must be in constant dialogue with traditional rulers to check the menace.
We are the ones in the rural areas, we know the terrain; we know the people”.

We’ve established community vigilance groups — Okere of Sakiland

The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Khalid Olabisi, equally said that steps are being taken to curb the influx of bandits and prevent the rise in insecurity in his domain, Oba Olabisi, in a telephone interview with Vanguard, said: “We have established community vigilance groups to monitor and report suspicious activities fostering a culture of awareness among residents.

“We are collaborating closely with local law enforcement and military units; we ensure effective communication and rapid response to threats.

We lack powers to check insecurity —Eselu of Iselu Kingdom

On his part, the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North local government area of Ogun State, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi said with the present Constitution operated in Nigeria, the traditional rulers do not have any power to check insecurity but urged the government to do the needful in securing their territory.

Oba Akinyemi said: “Due to the porosity of the nation’s border, the government must inform all the security agencies at the border to be on alert.”

DesChyko:
Depends on the output wattage. For a power bank to charge a random laptop:

1. The laptop needs to have a Type C port since that's readily supported.
2. The power bank should be able to output 45W and above. Older laptop models may require less power but those hardly have Type C charging ports.

In summary, use only a power bank only if specified to charge laptops. The power drain on unsupported power banks will damage the batteries in the power bank.
Impressive takes.

I Retired at 53 With Over ₦1 Billion in Assets — Here’s How I Did It
I invested early, and now my retirement is secured for life

Written By: Aisha Bello
Last Updated February 1, 2025

In 1998, this 53-year-old retiree took charge of her financial freedom with small, consistent investments. Over the years, she strategically grew her assets and positioned herself for an early, comfortable retirement.

This is how she made it work in Nigeria.

As Told To Aisha Bello.

Model not affiliated with the story. Actual subject is anonymous.

I spent my entire career as an accountant in an insurance company, helping people plan for retirement. During my active years, I saw firsthand what happens when people don’t prepare early enough — the anxiety, the regrets, and the desperate attempts to stretch out insufficient pensions.

I was 26 when I received my first paycheck, and I never wanted that to be me.

Also, I didn’t grow up rich. From a young age, I understood that if I wanted financial security when I was older, I had to build it myself. So, while most people were thinking about how to spend their salary, I was thinking about my retirement plans.

That’s why, from my first paycheck, I made a non-negotiable rule: save and invest 40% of my income, no matter what.

27 years later, I retired at 53 as a director, with a portfolio worth over ₦1 billion spread across real estate, stocks, bonds, forex, and fixed deposits. Over the next 20 years, I’ll also receive a monthly pension of ₦500,000.

This didn’t happen by luck. It was the result of deliberate decisions, smart investments, and some hard lessons along the way.

Breaking down my Retirement Portfolio
Here’s what my assets look like today:
Asset Class Current Value
Forex $25,000
Real Estate N500 million
FGN & FGN Savings Bonds N300 million
Fixed Deposits N65 million
Stocks (including specific shares) N22 million
Monthly Recurring Pension (20 years) N500,000

Now, let’s talk about how I built each of these.

Fixed Deposit: The early money move that made a difference (₦65M)
In 1997, I started my career as an entry-level accountant, earning ₦16,000 per month. At this point, the Nigerian minimum wage was ₦450 before President Olusegun Obasanjo passed a new wage bill to give workers ₦5,500 in 2000.

At the time, I wasn’t investing; I was just saving aggressively. But everything changed when a friend at National Bank introduced me to fixed deposits.

That small decision laid the foundation for the rest of my financial journey.

My organisation had a unique payment structure: I received a portion of my salary monthly, while the rest was paid upfront at the beginning of the year. My basic salary (₦16,000) accounted for 60% of my total income (₦26,000 per month), while the remaining 40%, which covered housing and furniture allowances, was paid in bulk annually.

In 1998, I decided to take a risk with my annual upfront salary, which was about ₦128,000.

Subsequently, I saved my annual upfronts in fixed deposits with the National Bank until the bank failed to meet the Central Bank of Nigeria’s capital requirement in 2002. The CBN took control, and three years later, the bank was acquired by Wema Bank. Afterwards, I made fixed deposits with different banks to grow my savings.

Today, I no longer use banks for fixed deposits — except for VFD Microfinance Bank, where I’m a shareholder. Instead, I invest through asset management companies like Vetiva, FSDH and Anchoria because of their higher interest rates.

For instance, GT Bank’s fixed deposit rate is 5.25% per year, and FSDH’s returns can be up to 10% per annum, depending on the investment amount.

Right now, I have ₦65 million in fixed deposits and earn fixed interest annually.

Real Estate: My biggest asset class (₦500M)
I’ve always believed that owning property is key to financial security in Nigeria.

In 2001, I bought my first property in Isolo, Lagos, for ₦7 million. When I sold it in 2008, its value had appreciated to ₦100 million, a 1328% increase.

In 2009, I bought a plot of land in Ajah for ₦3 million. Seven years later, I sold it for ₦45 million. The value skyrocketed because of rapid development in the area; new housing projects were being built, and the road network improved significantly, driving more people to rent homes there.

FGN Bonds: My safety net (₦300M)
I prioritise security, so Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) bonds have always been part of my plan. And as an accountant, I’ve always known about them.

FGN bonds are managed by the Debt Management Office (DMO), which allows the government to borrow money from citizens in exchange for interest payments.

Regular FGN bonds require a minimum of ₦50 million, and these predominantly long-term investments range from three to fifty years.

FGN Savings Bonds, which are short-term, offer a more accessible option. They have a minimum subscription of ₦5,000 and a two- to three-year term. Once the bond matures, the principal is returned.

With FGN Savings Bonds, I receive quarterly interest (coupon payments), while longer-term FGN bonds pay interest twice a year. At the beginning of every month, the government issues savings bonds for those who want to buy; the most recent interest rate was around 18%.

My children also have FGN Savings Bonds, and they’re already earning passive income, with quarterly interest payments deposited into their accounts. Since they don’t need the funds, I reinvest their earnings to compound their wealth over time.

To get FGN bonds, you need an agent. I have bought through GT Bank, FSDH, and Vetiva in the past, but I currently use Afrinvest. I reviewed their financials while working, so I knew it was safe to go through them.

I hold both short- and long-term FGN bonds worth ₦300 million.

Foreign Exchange Investment: Beating inflation with hard currency ($25,000)
For foreign exchange investments, I use Zenith Bank and FSDH for fixed deposits and Vetiva for my Eurobond investments. This is different from online forex trading, where people actively buy and sell various currencies to make a profit. Forex trading is high-risk and requires active monitoring.

I focus on foreign currency investments by depositing dollars in fixed-income instruments like Eurobonds and dollar-denominated fixed deposits. This protects my money from naira devaluation while earning a stable return.

I started investing in forex two years ago when the naira started losing value. My initial investment of $23,500 has since grown by 6%.

Stocks: Slow and steady growth (₦22M)
I invested heavily in stocks until the 2008 stock market crash changed everything. The market dropped by at least 70%, and people lost their lives over the financial ruin. At the time, I had invested ₦500,000 and later bought rights issues worth ₦4 million to increase my shares. Rights issues allow existing shareholders to buy more shares when a company wants to raise capital.

The Nigerian stock market has only recently regained some stability. After the 2008 crash, I stopped actively investing in stocks, though I held the ones I already owned. I still receive annual dividends from solid companies like GTB, First Bank, Flour Mills, Nestlé, and Transcorp Hotels. At this point, I’ve already gotten my initial investment and continue to earn from them.

The only new stock I’ve bought recently is VFD Microfinance because I trust the company’s growth potential. I initially invested ₦5 million, then bought their rights issue for ₦8 million.

Today, my stock portfolio is valued at ₦22 million.

Anyone interested in stocks can’t just walk into the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) building on Lagos Island to buy shares; you need a licensed stockbroker. They handle buying and selling on your behalf. I used to use Meristem but now work with FSL Capital Limited.

Pension: The passive income that gives me peace of mind (₦500K/Month)

In 2004, the federal government introduced a new pension scheme that required me to contribute 8% and my employer 10% of my salary towards retirement.

I also had the option for voluntary pension contributions, which I locked into because it meant more pension income. Before this, we had a fixed system where every employee had to pay ₦4 monthly, while the employer added ₦10. That didn’t do anything, but the new scheme meant my pension was directly proportional to what I earned in service.

When it comes to pensions in Nigeria, you can either choose Programmed Withdrawal (PW) or Annuity. With Programmed Withdrawal, you receive a set amount of money for a set period, say 10 or 20 years, after which the payments stop.

An annuity, on the other hand, is paid for life. When you opt for an annuity, your money is transferred to a life insurance company that administers income until you die. This type of pension is for life but can be transferable to living family members based on the specific terms of the contract.

I opted for Programmed Withdrawal because, as an accountant, I prefer to have control over my finances. With an annuity, I’d need to transfer my entire balance to an insurance company and receive fixed payments for life. I don’t need any company to manage my money; I have the experience. With Programmed Withdrawal, my funds remain invested, and I can still benefit from returns.

I now receive a monthly pension of ₦500,000 and will continue to receive that for the next twenty years.

In addition, I bought a personal pension plan from the insurance company where I worked. A year before retiring, I stopped the plan, took my money, and invested it in other assets.

Investment Diversification: Not all eggs in one basket
If a project requires funding, I liquidate some of my investments to finance it. Then, when I have more funds available, I’ll reinvest.

But the rules are different with government bonds. If I invest in a two- or three-year bond, I wait until maturity to access my funds. Although I can sell the bond, it’s not a liquid asset, and I won’t get my money back immediately.

In contrast, fixed deposits with banks are more flexible. If I invest in a one-month fixed deposit, I can withdraw my funds at the end of the month or even before that if needed.

I’ve had real estate projects that required funding, so I terminated some investments to finance them. Then, when I generated returns, I reinvested what I took out.

I believe in diversifying my investments, so I don’t put all my eggs in one basket. I mix fixed deposits, government savings bonds, real estate, and shares. I’m also into foreign exchange investments. If I decide to run a business now and invest some funds, that’s diversification.

This way, I can rely on others for support if anything happens in one sector.

My Two Cents on Investing For The Future

Economic challenges are constant – inflation, downturns, market volatility, and instability have always existed and won’t stop. Regardless of any economic downturn, you must plan and invest towards your retirement to ensure a secure financial future. My two cents:

Start early, no matter how small.
The best time to start investing is with your first paycheck.

Prioritise investments over saving. Think of savings as money you can access anytime, but it doesn’t grow much. And investments as money locked for a period, earning higher interest.

When you save, your money sits in the bank, earning minimal interest, but when you invest, you put your money to work.

Don’t worry if the interest seems small at first; consistency is key.

Increase your investments as your income grows.

Aim to save at least 30% of your salary.
If 30% is too much, start lower and increase it gradually.

Remember to make voluntary pension contributions. I recommend using a pension fund administrator (PFA) like Stanbic IBTC Pension Manager because they reinvest your contributions, allowing your pension balance to grow with the added interest or returns.

Bottom Line
Don’t be greedy about earning high interest rates. Explore low-risk investments, start investing early, be consistent, and aim to invest at least 30% of your income.

PoliticsRe: US-based Nigerian Doctor Kills Self Over $15,000 Child Support by Konquest:
drstranged:
A 36-year-old United States-based Nigerian cardiologist, Ikenna Erinne, has reportedly committed suicide after losing a child support case to his yet-to-be-identified ex-wife.

The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday, January 26.

It was gathered that the Anambra-state-born late doctor had a prolonged divorce battle with his estranged wife, including the custody of their children.

He, however, lost the case after a US court ruled in favour of his ex-wife and ordered him to pay a monthly child support of $15,000.
Confirming the incident in a post shared on X.com, a Nigerian-American, Clayton Udo, said the court’s verdict took a severe financial toll on him, leading to his tragic death.

He wrote, “The abuse of African men in the USA must come to an end. In a deeply troubling case, Dr. Ikenna Erinne, an American-trained cardiologist, allegedly took his own life after an American court ordered him to pay his ex-wife $15,000 monthly, following a prolonged and contentious divorce case. This tragic incident highlights the systemic issues within the legal system that disproportionately affect African men.”

Udo, who claimed to be an expert in psychological and mental abuse, revealed that the deceased had spent thousands of dollars in legal fees before the court’s verdict turned out in favour of his ex-wife.

He further explained that the late doctor lost his license as a cardiologist to the case, adding that he died after shooting himself.
He shot himself to death. He spent thousands of dollars in legal fees – wasted money. I am talking about a process that impoverishes you. You go to court and they take all your money.

“He lost his license as a cardiologist in this case plus they slammed on him 15,000 dollars a month plus restricted access to his children,” he added.

Another member of the Nigerian community in the United States, Obim Onujiogu, also confirmed Erinne’s death in a post on Facebook.

Onujiogu described him as a compassionate healer and devoted family man.

He, however, disclosed that his funeral would be held Monday in Maryland, the United States.

Onujiogu wrote, “In Loving Memory of Dr. Ikenna C. Erinne. It is with heavy hearts that the ASA DC family announces the sudden and untimely passing of Dr. Ikenna Erinne Dr. Ikenna C. Erinne, was a beloved father, son, brother, and esteemed cardiologist, who departed on January 26, 2025.

"Born on March 4, 1988, Dr. Erinne was a compassionate healer and devoted family man. He is survived by his children Ugonna and Munachi, parents Engr. Chris and Mrs. Chinwe Erinne, and siblings Chuks, Onyi, Kenny, and Gechi.

“A celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home in Elkridge, MD, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM , followed by interment at Meadowridge Memorial Park.”

He said, “Like I said, I am not a Yoruba man, I’m an Okun man. I’m not from the southwest; I’m from Kogi State. And as a Muslim, the Sultan speaks for me and represents my interest. So when a group of barbarians in the so-called Yorubaland, southwest Nigeria, the Yoruba nation terrorists and their apologists, when you see the unprintable names that they have been calling the Sultan.

“This is just a warning. Alaafin of Oyo is not someone that we cannot also drag, the Ooni of Ife is not somebody that we cannot drag. https://saharareporters.com/2025/02/01/kogi-jihadist-threatens-yoruba-people-rejecting-sharia-law-its-time-start-preaching#google_vignette
First off, the FALSE reference to Okun folks being non-Yoruba is predictable and common among some well-known and ill-informed people outside Yorubaland and this is obviously a completely FAKE news report laced with hate speech. Okun people of Kogi State are a major subgroup of the larger Yoruba ethnic group of over 70 million people spread worldwide and who are indigenous to Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, with presence in Ghana, Abidjan in Cote d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, and other major population centers of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, etc

Second, the DSS and other intelligence agencies have to pick up the deluded source(s) that created this work of fiction reported by the Sahara Reporters correspondent and Omoyele Sowore himself in order to know how this story evolved. NO Okun person from Kogi State would say he identifies more with a Fulani maternal heritage more than his or her ancestral heritage. Most Okun folks of Kogi State are largely NOT even Muslims.

Third, after the Hausas, the Yorubas have the SECOND largest indigenous Muslim population in Nigeria followed by the Kanuris who are the THIRD highest. The total population of Fulanis in the entire West Africa is approximately 18 million so they are NOT up to the indigenous population of Kanuris of Nigeria and Chad OR the Hausas who are indigenous to Northern Nigeria and Niger Republic (with some in Northern Ghana) with a total population of 80 million plus OR the Yorubas who are over 70 million. Fulanis are MINORITIES in Nigeria, so, the irresponsible subservience to Fulani hegemony is uncalled for and highly ridiculous! Fulanis being a minority who are NOT originally indigenous to Nigeria shouldn't be left to teleguide anybody on Islamic matters through a so-called Fulani Sultan. Islam has been practiced in Yorubaland for over 500 years, in Kanuriland, Islam has been in existence for over 1,000 years. Uthman DanFodio's great grandfather's were NOT even born when Islam arrived in the Oyo Empire with the first mosque being established in Iwo.

Last but not least, unknown to a lot of people, Sharia Arbitration Panels have existed in some Yoruba States including Lagos a cosmopolitan state for years without any problems, so, for those majority States or communities with indigenous Muslim Yoruba populations such as Oyo, Osun, etc, it might NOT be an issue. Other Yoruba-speaking States with majority non-Muslim populations, such as Ondo, Ekiti, Kogi, etc, might NOT need Sharia panels immediately. Lagos, Ogun, and Kwara States have significant indigenous Yoruba Muslim populations but a very significant non-Muslim Yoruba population exists in those states. However, full-blown Sharia Courts that involve executing judgements based on stoning people to death in public, beheadings and amputations, etc, should NOT be allowed but Sharia Arbitration Panels can be allowed to oversee issues for Muslims who want adjudication or arbitration on family matters such as family inheritance issues and marital issues such as marriage divorce. The Yoruba Muslim Ummah are NOT asking for full-blown Sharia Courts but Sharia Arbitration Panels here to oversee family issues based off of aspects of their religion. The Muslims can embark on awareness programs to let others know that Sharia Panels are harmless and prevent 5th columnists from outside Yorubaland to hijack this by planting inciting, FAKE STORIES all over cyberspace. Islam and Muslims have attracted major suspicions and gained negative notoriety worldwide because of the terror activities carried out for many centuries now by certain extremist adherents who engage in heinous crimes and the creation of terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, JNIM operating in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, ISIS in the Middle East, the Taliban in Afghanistan, Al-Shabab in Somalia, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houtis terror group in Yemeni backed by the Shiite-led Iranian leadership, etc. These situations have led people worldwide to be very paranoid and suspicious of ANYTHING full-blown Sharia law or Sharia Courts because they are often precursors to the internal collapse of a lot of places where they are implemented. I write this as a non-Muslim who has a better understanding of the situation in terms of world religion, comparative religion, etc.

The Nigeria Export Promotion Council, NEPC, has confirmed that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has approved CFA Franc to be captured on Nigeria Export Proceeds, NXP, forms for the repatriation of export proceeds.

Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, Executive Director of the NEPC, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the Non-Oil Export Performance for the year 2024 in Abuja on Friday.

Ayeni said that the council had earlier engaged the CBN on the inclusion of the CFA Franc to boost trading.

She said that the currency was one of the currencies to be received as export proceeds by the bankers.

“I am delighted to inform you that the CBN has magnanimously approved CFA to be captured on NXP forms for the repatriation of export proceeds.

“We will be working with CBN and the banks to ensure full implementation. “I must say that this is a remarkable breakthrough for the council and further reaffirms the impact of the council’s current flagship programme,” she said.

She also highlighted other efforts by the agency to facilitate exports, including certification of 400 small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) exporters.

He said that kidnapping had become a major threat to the safety of residents and, therefore, required decisive action by the government. “This law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom. “The law stipulates that, where a victim dies in the course of kidnapping, the suspect is liable on conviction to death. “Security is of utmost importance to our administration, and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos State. “Our justice system will be required to execute this law in absolute and make sure that any criminal caught faces the full wrath of the law,” he said. Recall that Evans himself had advised kidnappers or intending ones to desist from the act, saying it does not pay any longer. He had said that if he can be caught, then nobody can escape the police being that the force has improved greatly in her anti-crime fight. Evans, a "billionaire" kidnap kingpin had successfully coordinated and masterminded several high profile kidnappings and armed robberies within Lagos, Anambra and Enugu States. According to him, “My advise to them is that as they are watching me standing here with policemen, they should stop everything about that, it doesn’t pay.” He gave the advise to other kidnappers while leading police operatives to two houses in Ejigbo and Igando areas of Lagos state where he keeps his victims until huge ransoms are paid. According to him, he keeps most of his victims in the two houses for months. He said he even pays up to seven hundred thousand Naira, (700,000) yearly for a three bedroom flat çells’ where the victims are kept. Upon departure from Igando area Evans had opined, “The Nigeria Police is not what it is used to be. They are far more advanced than they were. If they could arrest me, there is no criminal they can’t arrest.”

Bump.

8 whole years down the road (2017 to 2025). This foxy criminal named Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alongside his vicious armed robbery and kidnapping gang members criminal cases should have been concluded by now so they can face the capital punishment (in the face of overwhelming evidence against all of them!). That country called Nigeria and her criminal justice system can really be exasperating.

The judicial mediocrity stinks sky-high!

NCAA revokes licenses of two aviation operators over regulatory breaches

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) of two aviation companies Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited over violations of regulatory standards.

According to the NCAA, both companies were found to be in breach of Part 1.2.1.5 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs), which prohibits falsification, reproduction, or alteration of applications, licenses, certificates, logbooks, reports, or records. Under Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs, such infractions warrant the revocation of the Air Operator Certificate as a penalty.

As a result, the AOCs of Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA/AOC/12-15/002) and Eastwind Aviation (EAL/AOC/03-24/001) have been officially revoked, rendering them unable to operate aviation services in Nigeria. According to a post on the NCAA x handle.

Omni-Blu Aviation, a Lagos-based helicopter service provider, has been actively involved in the Oil & Gas sector, offering offshore transportation services. Similarly, Eastwind Aviation is a global commercial aviation services provider specializing in helicopter operations for the Nigerian Oil & Gas and Government sectors.

“In efforts to further sanitize the aviation industry, the NCAA has revoked the Air Operator Certificates of two operators:

“Eastwind Aviation Logistics Services Limited
Omni-Blu Aviation

“The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs on Falsification, Reproduction, or Alteration of Applications, Licences, Certificates, Logbooks, Reports, or Records.

“Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs provide the sanction for such fraud as revocation of the certificate.

“Consequently, their respective Air Operator Certificates OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 are hereby revoked,”

The NCAA’s decision underscores the agency’s commitment to upholding strict safety and regulatory standards within the aviation industry. Given the high-risk nature of offshore helicopter services, the regulator emphasized the importance of compliance with safety measures and documentation integrity.

Recall that in October 2024 a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter operated by East Wind Aviation and contracted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited plunged into the Atlantic Ocean near Bonny Finima, off the coast of Calabar.

The aircraft was carrying six passengers and two crew members.

The NCAA has reiterated that it will continue to monitor all licensed operators closely and take necessary actions against any entity found violating regulatory provisions.
