BusinessRe: CBN’s Diaspora-friendly Accounts: Game-Changer For Nigerians Abroad And At Home by Konquest: 5:17pm On Jan 25, 2025
Umarnuhu1990:
Grab a seat because this gist from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is about to shake tables (in the best way possible). Diaspora Nigerians, this one’s for you!. You’re hustling abroad, grinding non-stop, sending cash back home, and then poof it vanishes into thin air. And let’s not even talk about those “account-less” family members who can’t explain where the money went.

But guess what? That stress is officially over! Now, you can save and invest your hard-earned money in Nigeria by yourself. No middleman drama, no long story. The CBN has launched diaspora-friendly accounts designed to help Nigerians overseas save and invest in our beloved Nigeria.

What’s the Tea?

First things first, let’s talk about these new diaspora accounts that the CBN has rolled out: The Non-Resident Nigerian Ordinary Account (NRNOA) and the Non-Resident Nigerian Investment Account (NRNIA).

The Non-Resident Nigerian Ordinary Account (NRNOA) allows Nigerians abroad to remit foreign earnings such as salaries, dividends, and rental income to Nigeria. It also lets you manage funds in both foreign and local currencies at will. On the other hand, the Non-Resident Nigerian Investment Account (NRNIA) is designed for Nigerians looking to invest in Nigeria’s domestic financial markets, offering the flexibility to invest in assets such as bonds, equities, and government securities, either in foreign or local currency.

This isn’t just another boring banking initiative; it’s like opening a treasure chest for Nigerians living abroad. These accounts are specially tailored for our overseas heroes to remit to and invest in Nigeria like never before. These accounts are basically the VIP pass to Nigeria’s financial ecosystem, whether you’re sending money home or looking to grow your wealth.

The Lowdown on Diaspora Accounts
So, you’re thinking, “Why should I even bother? This sounds like plenty talk.” Well, here’s what this means for our brothers and sisters living around the globe?
Easy Access: These accounts make it super simple for Nigerians in the diaspora to open and operate accounts without the usual red tape. You’ve got enough to juggle with life overseas; you shouldn’t have to deal with exhausting paperwork when you want to connect back home. Eligible non-resident Nigerians can open these accounts, provided they provide proof of identity and residency, and they can open these accounts, either in foreign currency or Naira.

Invest in Your Roots: With the NRNIA account, you can invest in Nigeria’s flourishing sectors, from real estate to agriculture. It’s your opportunity to put your funds to work and be part of the economic growth back home while enjoying potential returns! Your money doesn't just sit idle

-It can help create jobs and boost the local economy.

Foreign Currency Flexibility and Transparency: Here’s where it gets truly exciting. You can hold these accounts in foreign currencies! This flexibility means you don’t have to convert everything to Naira immediately, giving you better control over your funds. Plus, you can take advantage of favourable exchange rates when you’re ready to invest or send money to your loved ones—all without those outrageous charges.

What Does This Mean for Nigerians at Home?
Now, for my Naija-based fam thinking, “How e take concern me?” Listen up.
Imagine your sibling abroad sends you money for school fees, and instead of losing half to third-party charges, the full amount drops in your account. Sweet, abi? That’s the kind of seamless remittance flow these accounts enable.

Additionally, transfers between the NRNOA and NRNIA accounts and other local Nigerian accounts further optimize remittance flows, integrating these funds into long-term investments that will help stabilize the economy, create jobs, and boost development.

So, whether you’re in London, New York, or Canada, it’s time to start thinking about how you can leverage these diaspora-friendly accounts to benefit yourself, your loved ones, and Nigeria. For those in Nigeria, spread the word to your japa family and friends so they can take advantage of this platform to send your money seamlessly!
Here’s to making a difference and growing our wealth together! Cheers to you, Naija! The future is bright.

This na herbalist room na. Guy, you be babalawo?

Even if you must stay for one room, let it look nice na.

This is the kind of room that produces generational poverty.
Can you guys stop the generalizations and stereotyping of Babalawos (Ifa priests of the Yoruba religion). Don't say what you don't know here! A Babalawo is NOT a herbalist. Herbalists are folks who use herbs for treating people. From the United Kingdom to Nigeria to China, etc, certified herbalists have taken the center-stage in alternative medicine.

Conversely, Babalawos who are alternatively called Ifa priests of the Yoruba religion spread around the world from Nigeria, to Benin Republic to Togo, Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, United Kingdom, etc, do NOT live in these sorts of dingy, poor conditions in the OPs attached picture. Ifa priests (Babalawos) are the equivalent of Imams or Church priests.

The internationally respected Professor Wande Abimbola (the former 2-term Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife), is an internationally respected Babalawo (Ifa priest). He visits Cuba, Brazil, the United States and other countries regularly to interact with adherents of the Yoruba religion. In Cuba alone, there are about 10,000 Babalawos alone from Havana to Matanzas and elsewhere. Prof. Wande Abimbola is NOT poor but lives a life of comfort.

There are many respected professionals from a Professor of Geology that I know, to Lawyers, etc, who are Babalawos or Ifa priests as well who live in wealth, comfort and luxury and not in dingy, one room settings portrayed in those highly despicable Nigerian home videos of the past. I read an article over 10 years ago stating that this is one of the reasons why legitimate Babalawos stopped taking part in some Nigerian movies to protest the irresponsible stereotypings by some movie producers.

Oba, Oko,Oru, Oshimili , Ika etc do not have historical relationship with Yorubas same names settlement.

Ifaodu corpus talks about Yorubas version which are not same , even Afa of the Igbos of Eastern region's version is not same. Kolanut divination may be, three lobes, four lobes, eight lobes among Yorubas still remain different when doing the lotcast or divination.

Ika is also an Odu in ifa corpus which is among the first set of 16 odus that came to earth when Orunmila ascended to heaven in Yoruba cosmology. There is historical account to the reason of how the first became the last and the last became the last among the 16 odu.

So, positing that some places are Older than Yoruba settlement is a bit controversial as far as some information is concerned but one cannot take away some views if well verified.

Yes, Farooq is linked to Ibariba but not Ibariba are linked to Yorùbas. The same way Yorùbas have genetically link with white and Africans does not mean all white ordarkskins are Yorubas.

The Yorùbas you find in Ibariba were of different eras. There was a time when Elempe-Tapa-Nupe attack old Ọyọ́ and the Ọlọ́yọ́ of that era moved for safety with his people which led to dispersion. So finding Yorùbas within Ibariba enclave is the same as finding Yorùbas of Olukumi among Ìgbò speaking people in Aniocha environment.

Living in Ibariba land is no big deal. Infact, in around early 1800s Ojo Aburumaku , a descendants of Gaa went to Ilọ́rin to capture Afọnjà but he could not captured him because he was betrayed by the cowarriors who did not support the present Ọlọ́yọ́ at that time whose predecessor sent Afọnjà to attack a community under Iléifẹ which Afọnjà which was wrong and led to the fall of Ọyọ́ land.

After Ojo Aburumàkú saw this betrayal, he relocated to Ibariba land and lived there till he passed on. Beside, many Yorùbas moved to Ibariba land also apart from war because of the cordial relationship Yorùbas had with Ibariba people even intermarriages is known among them.

Many of these people claiming Ọyọ́ in Ibaribas are mostly, Alara descendants Aresa's, Ikoyi's,Igbọ̀n's Oje's etc. So, there is no doubt about Yorùbas in different places inclusive Ibariba.

Yes, Katunga was not originally Yorùbas land but of Nupe people whom the ancient Yorùbas called them Elempe. Orànmiyan ruggedness made this land became Yorùba's afterhewagewarashewasgoingfarthertoavengehisancestorsdefeatbysomewarriors.Unfortunately he turned back when he could not go through Songhai Empire due to the setup of this land.

Interestingly, contrary to speculation Orànmiyan was not a king in Katunga but a leader because he was a warrior prince who wage war after this christened name "Orànmiyan."To be a A king, such personality must be crowned by chiefs and sacrifices must complied with. His real names were Odede and Jegbe respectively.

After awhile he left katunga land to Iléifẹ to take over his ancestors throne which was taken away from his father's lineage Ògún by the rebellious ifẹ. Eventually he arrived iléifẹ safely and chased away Ọbálùfọn who was a descendant of Ora paternally, popularly called Ora ifẹ or Orafẹ or Oramfẹ and was crowned after his ancestors title identified as Ooni (owner of ifẹ) ifẹ.

He married Obálùfọn's daughter, also married Moremi after her husband rejected her for playing the brave role of being caught by ubo/Ibo/Ugbo/Igbó people of Yorùba extraction and not modern day Eastern people identified as ìgbò. The Yorùba Igbó people are Obámakin descendants who adorn Seeséfun crown. While Adé Aare belong to Ògún and lineage strictly.

Are you sure ? In terms of Ọyọ́ history and other related groupings in old Yorùba setup, there is no doubt about usage of Arabic names.

This does not make such people foreigners and also this does not mean Tapa,Ibariba aren't assimilated into Yorùba setting. Infact, the same way,Edos,Ibos,Arabs,Hausas,Kanuri,Ogu-Egun etc were assimilated into Yorùba setup.

These being acknowledged had nothing to do with position of Báṣọ̀rún! The position of Báṣọ̀rún is a sensitive one which is second to the king. And no one can attain this post except he is an ibilẹ̀(indigenous) for that matter.

Mọgàji as a title and other names did not come through Hausas, rather the Arabs within Yorùba setup . Beside, from the time of Òrànmiyàn in late1100AD who brought Tapa when he fought and won against these people. He married one of their daughter who was a princess called Torosi.
This woman was the mother of Dada, who was popularly known as Ajasa or Ajaka and ItiElú or Itiolú who was popularly known as a replica of Ṣàngó.

It was through Ọrànmiyàn that Tapa were assimilated under his father's House with Oriki/ panegyric distinction in iléifẹ though ancestrally as his Sword bearer . Nupe people are called Elempe or Tapa people who are led presently by Baba Eredumi in Iléifẹ.There a lot of cross breeding so if such happens, can you call such person or people non Yorùba after much intermarriages ?

Furthermore If you claimed the names you pointed as foreign which is same as English names to us being bore by Yorùbas because some people claimed Islam came to Nigeria through Hausa before it reached Yorùba land. How true can these be? Kindly ponder over these.

Why is it true that Lord of the House in Arabs do not have same cognate with Hausa as found in Yorùba language ?

Why is the word for Father in Arabic language is same with Yorùba and not found among Hausa 's ?

Why is it that the word for fire or light as found in Arabic word is same with Yorùba but does not exist in Hausa language ?

Seriously, there are load of words that are having same cognate between Arabic and Yorùba that do not exist in Hausa language, despite the assumptive claim of Hausas being Islamised. So, it not about their identity because these people are Yorùbas.

Ṣọ́ùn father's was a son to an Ibariba and son to a Yorùba mother. Ṣọ́ùn himself was a son to his Ibariba father and Yorùba mother.

Typical example is Ṣọ́ùn Ogbómọṣọ.
Ṣọ́ùn and Ọlọ́yọ́ daughter fell inlove which he impregnated her because Ọlọ́yọ́ will not allow a commoner marry his daughter. Is Ṣọùn not a prince in Yorùba monarchial system ?

Plainly, these people were not foreigners in all ramifications.
Bump.

I do not even think the gains from the lower taxes Trump proposes would be enough to offset the cost of these businesses moving their operations from a country where they have already established a well-oiled manufacturing process while also maintaining significantly low overhead to a country with high cost of living where increase in labour costs is guaranteed and eventually will lead to a rapid increase in the price of their finished products. This increase in price will eventually lock their market reach within the US and they'll have to calculate if it's going to be worth it in the long run.

A United Airlines flight, UA613, traveling from Lagos to Washington, D.C., declared an emergency and made an unexpected return to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following a technical issue, News360 Nigeria reports.

The Boeing 787-8 aircraft, carrying 245 passengers, eight flight attendants, and three pilots, experienced the emergency over Ivory Coast airspace.

Several passengers and crew sustained minor injuries during the incident.

According to a passenger who wished to remain anonymous, the plane suffered a sudden loss of pressure, resulting in sharp descents that caused panic and injuries.

The passenger recounted, "We had unfastened our seatbelts after being served meals when the plane suddenly dropped. I hit my head on the ceiling and briefly lost consciousness.

The sharp descent occurred three times, injuring some passengers. Initially, the pilot announced we would land in Ghana, but we eventually returned to Nigeria."

The airline confirmed the incident, stating: "Flight UA613 from Lagos to Washington D.C. returned to Lagos to address a technical issue.

After landing safely, the aircraft was met by first responders to attend to reports of minor injuries among passengers and crew."

Video footage from the incident obtained by News360 Nigeria, shows aftermath of the incident with medical personnel attending to shaken passengers.

-Kiss the truth!
It's indeed a very good project on paper, BUT the current reality is that in a retaliatory move (based off of useless suspicions and LIES that Benin Republic is responsible for allowing terrorists into Niger Republic), the crazy Niger Republic military junta has ordered a total boycott of the Benin Republic sea port for all imports and exports and now uses the Togo port which has added more to freight and overhead costs for the truck owners with truck drivers now driving longer distances and hence leading to higher costs and inflation of goods and services in Niger Republic.

The other Sahelian countries of Niger Republic, Mali and Burkina Faso have bungled up their fight against Jihadist insurgency since the Russians were invited and the French and Americans were told to leave, with more than HALF of the total landmass of those three Sahel Ian countries now under the control of the Jihadist terror group called JNIM which is affiliated to Al-Qaeda, thereby leading to insecurity in the agricultural belts and reduced productivity and exports.

A way must be found to ensure that this far-Northern Nigeria railway project succeeds and becomes self-financing (or pays for itself) starting with boosting whatever cross-border trades that can be mopped up from Maradi in Niger Republic which is right across the border and NEXT to Jibia town in Katsina State, then boost trade along the famous and largest trade route in Nigeria which is the Jibia to Kano to Lagos trade route (LAKAJI trade route).

The usual panic modes and loud screams of "blo**d of Jezuz" in a "violent air turbulence" from some over religious passengers. I've been in a few of those kinds of situations in the past while on international flights and it's usually the same kind of reactions. I encountered one such violent air turbulence years back which lasted for over one minute with the lights completely going off leaving us in total darkness while the widebody Airbus A310 I was in was flying over the Atlantic Ocean after leaving the Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire airspace. It's uncanny that almost the same kind of situation happened to this United Airlines flight (which was headed for Washington, D.C., in the United States with 245 passengers) around the Abidjan airspace.

I'm glad it wasn't a "wind shear" like the one that knocked out the ill-fated Bellview Airlines over Ogun State which nosedived right into the ground on impact. Nice they made it back to base.

Thanks for that. My interest has always been the pre-Oduduwa era of the kingdom of Ufe. I opened a thread about it sometimes ago on nairaland hoping to see people with facts to come forward. Luckily enough I stumbled on the books by Prof. Banji Akintoye, Prof Toyin Falola and some other scholars that shed light on prehistoric era. A section of Igbo (especially part of Anambra) is actually of Ufe Origin. Have you wondered why they have Oba, Ora and Oko in Anambra. Is that just per chance or something to decode? Those three words: Oba, Ora and Oko are central to prehistoric Ufe. The assertion of Akinrintan is one of the problems why we have distortions in history. It is just a fight for supremacy. Let us leave it at that.
Indeed, the U.S-based Prof. Toyin Falola, Prof. Banji Akintoye and Prof. Jide Osuntokun (former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany) are the iconic leaders on ancient and modern Yoruba history that I've ever read.

OK! I found the thread you're talking about right BELOW:

https://www.nairaland.com/6896727/inquest-into-pre-oduduwa-history-yoruba#108522287

The Oba, Ora, and Oko are said by the Anambra folks to have different meanings from the Yoruba meanings though. There's an uncanny similarity between some other Yoruba words (such as NIKE, OJO, etc) and the Old Anambra State (Now Anambra and Enugu States) words. Other CLEAR words of PURE Yoruba origin OR etymology such as Ogede (plantain and banana), Iba (fever), Akuko (cock), Okuta (rock or stone), Egusi (melon seeds), Egungun (masquerade), Ogun (God or deity of War and Iron), Ogun (medicine), Ewa (beans) etc, which are found MORE in use in Igala as words with slight spelling changes for some words (such as "Egwugwu" meaning masquerade, "Ogwu" meaning medicine or war or deity, "Egwa" meaning beans, in Igala language) and (as BORROWED or LOAN words directly from the Yoruba/Igala region in Igbo lexicon to a lesser degree). Same meanings BUT different spellings for some words. The Longman English to Ibo dictionary for instance which was co-written with an Igbo scholar CLEARLY states that the word "Egwusi" is a LOAN word (BORROWED) from Yor. (The Yoruba word EGUSI). "Elili" is the name some other Igbo groups call Egusi

Besides, we know there are indigenous Yorubas in Kogi State which shares direct borders with Anambra and Northern Enugu where Igalas are also indigenous (just like the Igalas are indigenous to Anambra State) and very active historically. The book entitled: "Ibo-Igala Land Border" written by an American lecturer who was at UNN in Nsukka in the 1960s and 1970s indicates that both Igalas and their fellow Yorubas were regular visitors and hunters in the Nsukka area over 300 years ago long before British colonialism.

However, because Igala is classified as a Yoruboid language (just like spoken Itsekiri), and according to the late Attah of Igalaland [HRM Dr. Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni] who granted an interview published on August 26, 2017 in Saturday Punch indicated that Igala language and people evolved from the migration of a sizeable group of people
from Wukari [Jukunland] in Taraba State centuries ago and they moved along the confluence of River Benue to Amagede, then to Idah where they settled and MERGED with a sizeable group or population of Yoruba people, Bini people, and to some
extent a small group of Ibo, etc.

"So the Wukari migrant population merged
with them to form the language called
Igala as a people." ~ late Attah Michael Oboni of Igalaland

PoliticsRe: I’m Not Igbo – Wike by Konquest:
Makavelli001:
@ Kon.quest

I do wonder what you benefits from this rift. You didn't say anything about the community names I mentioned in my earlier post. The establishment of ogbakor ikwerre in 1963 was not to identify as a distinct ethnic group as you claim, rather it was for political mobilization. There was similar groups like that among various Igbo subgroup. Like the orlu progressive union.

Elechi Amadi that you mentioned, registered in the Nigerian army as Igbo man. He only started fabricating lies when he saw that IGBOS were no longer in advantageous position in Nigeria after the civil war.

I lived in ikwerre land for decades and I can tell you emphatically that there is no doubt that some individual might have migrated from bini centuries ago. Those set of individuals are at the minority. They eventually rose among the elites in new rivers state after the war, and generalized that all ikwerres are not Igbo. I really don't blame them for their misguided attitude because during the war, the Nigerian grand design was to wipe out the entire Igbo race. So it was logical and justifiable to deny being Igbo at that time.

for your information, Elechi Amadi hails from a village called mbodo, which means 'foreigners' in Igbo language.in the olden days, that village was often segregated among the near by community. they were always the last to participatew in community rites. What do you expect from someone from that community?

Aro that you mentioned. Do you know the history of Aro in lkwerre land? Do you know that Aros were in that land before the arrived of the so called akalala from bini?

IGBOS do not really need ikwerres for anything provided they let go of what belongs to the IGBOS that they have.

If you are in Lagos or southwest, you should know better that an average Igbo man don't give a dime about ikwerre being Igbo or not.
Just as I said before, anyone who is not Igbo is definitely a nuisance.

Port Harcourt is to IGBOS what Lagos is to Yorubas.
I know many ikwerres that proudly identify as Igbo.

This is a photo of an ikwerre chief back then in the early 1900s. Before independence.
If you had read my post that you quoted properly, you would have seen where I clearly stated that I lived in PH back in the 1990s to the 2000s and also worked with a major multinational oil and gas company in Port Harcourt right in Ikwerreland. I'm currently a Diasporan of Nigerian descent but I fly into Nigeria from time to time. I clearly stated that I asked most of my Ikwerre friends who are highly educated folks who occupy top positions in the society (from very influential and prominent families) about the Igboid names and similarities in the names of places (Rumuokoro, Rumuola, etc) and more, so, I didn't have to repeat all that because they are obvious.

So, based of off the archival materials available to me, I've been aware for many years now that some of the British colonial records grouped or classified Ikwerres as "Ibos." So, the picture you attached here of the alleged Ikwerre man isn't strange to me. The difference folks now called Ibo that the British colonialists grouped as one entity after 1900 NEVER referred to themselves COLLECTIVELY as Ibos before 1900! It was the British that created the concept of an Ibo ethnic group and "central Ibo language" (distinct from sublanguages) was also created from this same colonial plan. Prior to that, every group identified with the names of their independent subgroups (such as Mbaise, Ngwa, Aro, Abam, Ohafia, Oka, Owere, etc), with some of them being hostile to one another. The etymology of the name Ibo (Igbo) is actually derived from an "impolite" OR "derogatory" term that the ethnic neighbors surrounding the peoples living East of the River Niger location refered to the peoples living there. The word Ibo (Igbo) is derived from the ethnic Igala word "Onigbo" referred to the primitive people lived in the bush, who ate human beings (ate human beings for food) and were captured by the Igalas as slaves to be sold to Aboh in Delta State. The Binis and other Edos also used the derogatory term "Igbon" meaning "slave" to refer to people East of Niger. The folks of Asaba and Onitsha also used the term "Onye Igbo" to refer to those living East of Onitsha. There are screenshots of well-researched books by Nigerian and international authors that clearly talk about this fact of history.

However, from 1963 when Ogbakor Ikwerre Worldwide was formed, what currently subsists as of 2025 is that as the APEX body of all genuine Ikwerre sons and daughters worldwide consisting of the membership of all major Ikwerre traditional rulers from the 7 Ikwerre kingdoms, the stand of that sociocultural association is that they are NOT Ibos! All the traditional rulers of Ikwerre communities as can be seen in the video right BELOW emphatically endorsed the actions so far carried out by Ogbakor Ikwerre. Furthermore Azuta Mata has been excommunicated from his community for identifying with the Ibo Ohaneze organization and further punitive measures against him and his family members have been set in motion.

AZUTA MBATA STRIPPED OFF IKWERRE TRADITIONAL TITTLES FOR ACCEPTING OHANEZE NDIIGBO OFFICE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meTU97WTUhM

Unless Ogbakor Ikwerre Worldwide's leadership and the Ikwerre traditional rulers who are also members of Ogbakor Ikwerre Worldwide come out today to say that they are Ibos, Ikwerres will remain members of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality to me and other decerning people who know how the interior Ibos flooded right into especially PH and started trying to dominate the Ikwerres. My Ikwerres friends and associates over the years told me how the Ibos from other places came to lord it over them right from the Colonial times till during the Nigerian Civil War with the subsequent liberation of Port Harcourt in May 1968 and other surrounding Ikwerre communities from the secessionist rebels by gallant troops of the 3rd Marine Commando Division led by the then General Officer Commanding (GOC), Col. Benjamin Adekunle. It was they who released Elechi Amadi from prison detention of the secessionist because Elechi Amadi refused to fight on the side of the rebel secessionists!

Last but not least, I will find out more about the history and name of Mgbodo Village in Aluu, Ikwerre LGA, where the academic, author, and retired Nigerian Civil War veteran, Captain Elechi Amadi was born in 1934 to know if indeed they were called "foreigners" and "ostracized" as outcasts (more like what core Igbos still do to the "Osu" people in their midst till today) because I know people who are connected to the Elechi Amadi family.

Moblux:
You are very correct 👌. The remotest of the rulers of the first dynasty is Àjà. He is believed to be the ancestor of Oramfe and Jio. Odùduwà descended from Oramfe just like Idu, the ancestors the Binis.

Why would Binis talk about the sky-rulers or sky- god-rulers and the ancient Ufe would talk about Àjà- lọ́run? Àjà was ruler and a priest or mediator who dwelt on very lofty abode like mountain according to Ife sources. His descendants were powerful men and two stood out, Oramfe (the one that cracks and scatter with fire) and Jìó (that invented a big light ball called òṣùpá Jio that light up the community). Unfortunately, nothing much about Idu except that he migrated out and founded Idu now Bini and his descendants ruled as Ogisos before Oranmiyan got there on the instructions of Ufe.
@Moblux, I deeply appreciate the deeper insights you gave right here. More folks and school kids have to know these advanced historical specifics (that have been in existence for years) in UPDATED curricula of school history books instead of those "elementary Oduduwa and Ife stories" we learned decades ago from Social Studies books. What I know today about Ufe (Ife) was learned from other advanced historical sources.

Since the early 1990s (1991), I noticed all kinds of irresponsible non-Yorubas twisting Yoruba history while churning out highly misleading online articles and bogus videos on YouTube claiming falsely and delusionally that Ufe (Ile Ife) and Yorubas originate from their area. As of 2005 and even much later, the Palace of Oba Frederick Akinruntan, Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom in the oil-and-gas rich Ilajeland, in Ondo State had to issue a strong press releases warning the Ibos to desist from referring to the Ugbos (who are originally autochtonous to modern-day Ile Ife) and Ibos (Igbos) as the same people.

Enjoy the rest of the day and have a fabulous year ahead!

At what labour and operational facility rate sir?

When I can get get far cheaper rates in Malaysia, China, Indonesia, India,Thailand and Vietnam.

Trump thinks it's a forceful and mechanical approach with tariffs that will address the American decline.

Oga, America has reached its peak, and another order in global trade and power is about to set in.

These steps will create an artificial inflation in the USA soon, and create an isolation of it's economy.

The only way he may delay it, is perhaps, fund more research for inventions, and reduce or cut off excessive spending on proxy wars and foreign aids. Then, re-appropriate the derived proceeds into more manufacturing and exportation.
You've stated things brilliantly here.

The unintended consequences for Trump and his economic team is that in the short term to medium-term, there would be retaliatory higher taxes as well on all U.S. imports, thereby canceling out whatever advantages he's looking for. Balance is key! NO country on Earth is in isolation from the other. Period.

For all of you hailing this man. This is gibberish nonsense. The minimum wage in the US is $15 dollars an hour. Any product made in there will be very very expensive. He thinks he love his country but he is about to put them in trouble.
Indeed, if LOWER TAXES are offered for multinational companies that would eventually move to operate in the United States, then things might pan out right. On the other hand, to threaten VERY STIFF taxes on imported goods from other countries would also trigger a rash of higher taxes on imported American goods thereby nullifying whatever advantages Donald and his economic team are trying to achieve. So, each country has to find a BALANCE when engaging with international business entities.

These are the push-and-pull dynamics you get to encounter in international trade.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday told world business leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to manufacture in the United States or face tariffs.

Trump stated this in his first major speech to global leaders since returning to the White House this week.

DAILY POST recalls that since his swearing-in on Monday, Trump has said that Washington could impose steep tariffs on major trading partners Canada, Mexico and China as soon as February 1.

The Republican has also signed a flurry of executive orders, pulling the United States out of the Paris Climate Accords and the World Health Organisation.

“Come make your product in America and we will give you among the lowest taxes of any nation on earth.

“But if you don’t make your product in America, which is your prerogative, then very simply you will have to pay a tariff,” he stated.

In his speech, he added that he believed lower oil prices would help end the war in Ukraine instantly.

Trump said he expected to have a very good relationship with China, stressing that all they want is fairness.

Ideally, if the total cost of production, taxes and other overheads are low to produce significant profit margins for manufacturers, why NOT? "It's America first" innit?

That's highly impressive of the gallant military troops. More Intel must now be extracted from him, then "take him out completely." There's absolutely NO amount of reformation that can be done for any Jihadist terror member because many examples from all over the world show CLEARLY that they always go back to the same crime after claiming to have repented. Period.

How many Ekiti people can afford flight ticket? We need railway more than airports in Nigeria.
You are NOT aware of some facts which I will state right below...

There are many Diasporans of Ekiti descent that I know living and working as top-notch professionals in various fields and multimillionaire business moguls in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, even right in Lagos State, Ibadan and Port Harcourt who will be MORE motivated to fly in and explore all the solid minerals and agribusiness investment opportunities in Ekiti State when all is set. The fantastic Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort @GoSeeIkogosi, is a resort of international standard that will attract more tourists and these would stimulate the local economy.

Driving for over 3 hours to get to Ekiti State through Ore town, Ondo City, then Akure in Ondo State from Lagos State can be tiring for a lot of folks. Airports generally stimulate a lot of economic activities especially for people and ethnic groups that have a large Diaspora population living abroad.

Indeed, the rail networks would enable folks within other income ladders in Ekiti State and other states in Nigeria to also easily travel. I stated in one of my earlier posts that Ekiti State has to be linked to the nearby Osogbo by rail. I read an article online where the former Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State said former President Muhammadu Buhari gave his word that a rail spur would be constructed to link Osogbo in Osun State to Ekiti State but that wasn't fulfilled as of the time he left office in 2023.
