TravelRe: Ekiti Airport Runway Is World Class - Aviation Minister by Konquest:
AngelGabbyShara:
*Ekiti Airport Runway, World class, says Aviation Minister*

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has commended the quality of work done on the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado- Ekiti, describing the airport runway as world-class.

Keyamo who landed at the Ekiti airport around 5.15pm on Monday and was welcomed with a water salute, said he was at the airport on a fact finding mission.

He told journalists on arrival that the airport is ready, adding that virtually all the facilities needed for a standard airport have been provided.

The Minister said the delay in the commencement of commercial flight operations at the airport is to give room for non-schedule flight which is the standard procedure across the world.

Keyamo said the agro allied airport has been on the radar of the Ministry of Aviation for a long time and it was high time it commenced operation.

“Well, I am here on a fact finding mission, the Ekiti Agro- Allied Airport has been on our radar for a long time and we felt it was time for us to start operations here.

“What we have approved for now is for the first six months for us to conduct non-scheduled flight. In other words, we will not have big commercial airlines coming in with plenty of passengers now but it is ready for the private jets to come in now to test the facilities here. It's not because it is not ready but that is actually the standard procedure all over the world that you start with non-scheduled flight and test the facilities before bringing a lot of passengers here.

“I can see that the aeronautical side is absolutely ready, the aeronautical where you have runway and am sure you have seen the quality of the runway, this quality of the runway you see here can be compared to any runway in the world”, the Minister asserted.

The Aviation Minister said the airport is long overdue considering the huge agribusiness going on in Ekiti State.

He expressed optimism that the airport would compete favorably with similar airports across the world.

The Minister was received at the airport by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Oyeniyi Adebayo; Commissioner for Transport, Mr Kolawole Ajobiewe; Commissioner for Information, Rt Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun, Special Adviser OTSD, Dr Moyo Ekundayo; Special Adviser Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, and Technical Adviser to the Governor on Airport Project, AVM Sunday Makinde (rtd) among others.

The visit came barely one week after the National Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) embarked on the calibration of landing equipment at the airport .

That's quite impressive. The main terminal building interior of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport that I've seen online looks good as well. Kudos goes to the 98-year-old Ekiti-born legal giant, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, for also donating some millions of Naira (aside from the major funding from the Ekiti State Government) to build that Cargo Airport. Many Ekiti folks living in the Diaspora and other folks can then fly in and explore the tourist (Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort) and solid minerals and agribusinesses investment opportunities in Ekiti State when all is set. There are many well-known and silent multimillionaires, professionals and technocrats from Ekiti State that I know living in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, etc, who will find it easier flying in instead of driving from Lagos for over 3 hours to get to the nearby Akure and then to Ekiti. This airport is NOT just for air cargo shipments but would fly in and out passengers as well just like the Gateway International Cargo Airport is being planned for. I don't know which company handled the Ekiti Airport but if any further building additions are to be made, Craneburg looks like a professional company to handle that.

The Gateway International Cargo Airport in Iperu-Remo in Ogun State whose construction started in 2021 (the video is right BELOW) is being constructed by Craneburg and it looks architecturally well-designed and streamlined. The runway is planned to be the longest in Nigeria and West Africa. The Abia Airport being undertaken as a Federal Government project with contributions from the Abia Government (who has promised to construct the runway), is being undertaken by Craneburg as well. Craneburg looks like a very reliable construction company.

CrimeRe: NMA Disowns Man Who Killed EFCC Operative In Anambra, Says He's An Impostor by Konquest: 9:52am On Jan 21, 2025
Ndimkpurummiri:
The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has described claim that one Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu who shot an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, dead during a raid on his residence in Awka, Anambra State is a medical doctor.

Dr. Obiaeli Ifeanyi, the Secretary of Anambra chapter of NMA said this in a disclaimer issued in reaction to claims in the media that a medical doctor shot an EFCC officer dead in Awka.

There have also been calls that the NMA should intervene in the shooting incident involving its alleged member on the social media.

Ifeanyi noted one of the publications, Ikechukwu who shot the EFCC officer dead in the early hours of Friday 17th January, 2025 at Dr. J.O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka was also referred to as a medical doctor with Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH.

But in the statement published on the X handle of Anambra chapter of NMA, Ifeanyi said findings by the Association so far have revealed that Ikechukwu is neither a medical doctor not a staff of NAUTH.

He added that Joshua Ikechukwu is also not a member of NMA Awka Zone of NMA as no member has been able to identify such a name as a colleague.

“Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu is NOT a Medical Doctor (not even an academic doctor) as widely published by the media though he deals on medical supplies and has been addressed as Doctor,” the NMA said while raising concern about what it described as flagrant abuse of the title Medical Doctor by imposters and quacks, dragging the image of the revered medical profession to the mud.

“By this NMA Anambra State wishes to notify the Media & EFCC that the said Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu is NOT a Medical Doctor and that they refrain henceforth from using the title medical doctor for the suspect.

“We also demand immediate retraction of all defamatory publications from the EFCC & media where the suspect was addressed as a medical doctor. We urge the media to do due diligence before making their publications.

“While we commiserate with the EFCC and the bereaved family on this unfortunate incident, please be rest assured that the medical profession is a noble one and Nigerian Doctors are responsible and remain law abiding,” the Anambra chapter of NMA concluded.

https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2025/01/20/nma-disowns-man-who-killed-efcc-operative-in-anambra-says-hes-an-impostor/
I knew right off the bat that something was totally off about that so-called "medical doctor" who I NEVER believed was one. The NMA Awka branch has finally confirmed it here that he's a bloody impostor! It's the fraudsters within his gang and beyond that deliberately pushed out those fake and highly defamatory stories on multiple online platforms (including NL) to an insidious tiny section of the media defending this crook who shot to death the EFCC official. Justice will now be duly served. Period.
PoliticsRe: Avoid Confrontation With Trump - Tinubu Advised By Bolaji Akinyemi by Konquest:
Bob.loco:
A Professor of Political Science, Bolaji Akinyemi, has advised President Bola Tinubu to avoid confrontation with the newly inaugurated 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Akinyemi gave this advice on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday.

“If I were President Tinubu, I would try to steer clear of antagonising him because there is nothing a bully likes more than taking on people who are not strong enough to resist him.

“You know there is that African proverb that if you are not strong enough to take on a bully and you challenge him, you will only suffer more for it.

“That’s the advice I would give President Tinubu: try to avoid having a confrontation with him, even if that means he does things that annoy or step on the interests of Nigeria. There are ways in which you could address his actions without confrontation,” he said.

The university don, who is a former Director General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs. NIIA, described Trump’s inaugural speech as uninspiring, shocking, and depressing.

According to him, rather than rallying the world for peace, Trump used his speech to threaten the rest of the world with a bouquet of hostile policies, including taking back the Panama Canal, renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, and engaging in tariff wars, among others.

Akinyemi said the US president would soon learn that there are repercussions to policies and jingoism, stressing that the world is in for a rough ride during the four years of the Trump presidency.

The former Nigerian Minister of External Affairs said Nigeria is no longer a focus for the 78-year-old most powerful president, and that Africa’s most populous nation should not expect anything extraordinary from the Trump presidency.

DAILY POST reports that Trump was sworn in as president on Monday, succeeding Joe Biden, four years after an electoral defeat that truncated his second-term ambition.
https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/20/avoid-confrontation-with-trump-tinubu-advised/
The former Minister of External Affairs, Bolaji Akinyemi spoke succinctly here and he has always been a very sound international diplomat. I remember him to be one of the shining stars of Nigerian diplomacy back in the 1980s (during "the dribbler's" government) and beyond that military era.

The ride is gonna be a roller-coaster with Trump now in charge. I never supported Trump because among other reasons, nearly every social media post of his sends the financial markets spinning into chaos. On the other hand, If Trump can bring the Russian and Ukraine War to an end, that would be a plus to him because that infamous war further triggered global inflation. This affecting many countries of the world besides the negative aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdown which fueled a disruption in global tourism for many countries that depended on FX from international visitors and it fueled inflation due to massive disruptions in the global logistics and supply chain.

Insightful. Love to see people abreast with history and truth!

One thing I've learnt over time is history can never be hidden. It always manifests itself in various ways, even through the behaviour of individuals and people. It should be perceived as motivation for improvement rather than a burden.
@NaMe4

I appreciate... Indeed what you posted in the bolded resonates deeply with me. We live in a world of cycles (business cycles, product cycles, lunar cycles, etc) and cycles can easily be predicted by studying patterns in world history. People have made millions from simply having a deep knowledge of what happened in the past decades either due to wars or due to stock market crashes.

DNA testing results from DNA testing companies such as 23andme and AncestryDNA have ALSO revealed a lot about the human past hence corroborating OR disputing some historical narratives and this segues right into what you posted here that "history ALWAYS manifests itself in various ways." Last but not least, you may wish to read my original post again (which I've just re-edited and corrected due to some annoying typographic errors I detected a few minutes ago).

Cheers.

it’s great history and information Chief. Great info. It’s appreciated. Always good to read historical facts. And so there is no reason for wike to be trying to deny his heritage. The Ikwerre tag obviously is a coalescing of different peoples. The man knows what he is and if he says he is not Igbo then he is not 🤷🏽‍♂️
@diamond68

Absolutely well said. The original folks who constitute the Ikwerres claim NOT to be Igbos, but it's a historical fact that during the slave trade, some Aros and their allies settled among the Ikwerres and Ijaws to facilitate that insidious trade in human slaves who the Aros brought from the interior Igbo areas. The folks who descend from the Aros know themselves but are in the minority. The Ogbakor Ikwerre Worldwide which was founded in 1963 (before the 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970) have since 1963 emphasized that they are distinct from the interior Igbos and also affirmed in the January 9 2025 Press Release video right BELOW that they NOT Igbos but of the Ikwerre ethnic nationality which is known to the Nigerian constitution.

Did you know that Alex Otti, the current Abia State Governor is also of Aro descent whose ancestor migrated from Arochukwu in Abia State and settled in the Aba region in the 1800s? He actually said this himself in an interview he granted to Punch newspaper in the 2010s when he wanted to contest under a different political party. He went on to say that their was some resistance to his becoming a Governor then because he was of Aro descent. He further claimed that the Aros and Ibibio migrants of centuries back in the Aba axis constituted about 10% of the population while the Ngwas who migrated from Mbaise in Imo State were in the majority in the Ngwa/Aba area.

I remember that interview because of my gravitation towards advanced world history for decades now and I have a fascination with how the Aros evolved (from the original Ibibio settlement of 400 years ago) and went about organizing small colonies in areas outside their enclave while engaging in the notorious slave trade of majorly Igbos of the interior and more.
PoliticsRe: I’m Not Igbo – Wike by Konquest:
diamond68:
it's a question of displaced people assimilating into the bigger tribe. For example some Brazilians moved to Lagos state years ago and their future generation all speak Yoruba today and have Yoruba names. But will they be wrong to say I am not Yoruba I am Brazilian? Just cuz someone from ikwerre speaks igbo and has igbo name doesn't mean they are igbo
@diamond68

Just for further emphasis and clarity.

The vast majority of returnees from Brazil and Cuba to Lagos Island (Eko Island) from the mid-1800s were Yoruba people from the Bahia region in Brazil, then from Cuba, some Yorubas stayed back to take advantage of opportunities in business and other trades while others returned from Matanzas Province and Havana (Habana).

Many of them (such as the FIRST ever Nigerian Pounds Sterling millionaire, Candido Darocha was of Ijesa ancestry through his father who was taken as a war captive and got shipped on a Portuguese slave schooner to Bahia in Brazil in the early 1800s) were highly skilled people who had a high standard of living leading to them being very wealthy through international businesses, exporting and importing commodities with ships between Lagos Island and South America before 1900!

NOW, to the Ikwerre issue, the Ikwerre folks that I've known since the 1990s right from back when I worked with a major multinational oil and gas company in Port Harcourt ALL told me emphatically that they are NOT Igbos. I did ask them about why SOME similarities exist in their names and the interior Igbos and it turns out that acculturation took place. This isn't strange though because acculturations occur a LOT in the border areas where different cultures and ethnicities converge. The ONLY recognized Ikwerre sociocultural organization established since 1963, "Ogbakor Ikwerre Worldwide" ALSO rejected the Igbo tag and affirmed again in the video BELOW just this January 9 2025 that they are of Ikwerre ethnic nationality.

Right in Kogi and Northern Edo States for instance, there are Ebiras and in parts of Akoko Edo (who are ALSO ancestrally related to the Ebiras of Kogi State) that are NOT Yorubas, BUT they understand Yoruba language in addition to their indigenous languages and some bear Yoruba names. There are Ebira communities (that share direct boundaries with the Okun-Yorubas of Kogi State) who speak and bear Yoruba names due to intermarriage and acculturations. You will NEVER find the rest of the core Yorubas of Okun in Kogi State, Kwara State and the entire 6 Western States of Nigeria forcing themselves rudely on the Ebiras and Akoko Edo people despite some shared similarities!

It's this FACT of historical acculturation that some of these ignorant younger Igbos don't get into their heads. Even the different Igbo subgroups in the core 5 Igbo-speaking states of today historically underwent acculturation and borrowed some cultural practices in the areas of loan words, foods, dressing, religion, etc, from their neighbors of different ethnic groups (Edo, Igala, Idoma, Ibibio, Annang, Ijaw, etc) along the border areas. The RED CHIEFTAINCY cap is NOT indigenous to the Igbos BUT was originally brought by the Igalas into the Nsukka area of Northern Enugu State within the last 500 years from where it was copied OR spread to other parts of Igboland that NEVER had direct contact with the Igalas. Igbo culture is also NOT monolithic but varies from one community to another with different dialects. I've seen viral YouTube videos of some irresponsible young Igbo members of ipob threatening to wipe out and/or deport Ikwerres to Benin and take Ikwerreland for the Igbos which is highly irresponsible and further portrays Igbos as the aggressors who do NOT respect people's wishes. Similar video threats have been made by these irresponsible ipob boys to capture Ijaw areas such as Bonny Island and Edo State areas and include them in Igboland and they mean it! These acts of ipob Igbo aggression and toxic hate speech have led to Ijaws, Bini-Edos and Esan-Edo firing back (in recent videos I've seen threatening to deal with Igbos from henceforth).

The REAL FACTS that I've gleaned from the Ikwerres is that the FEW among them who are claiming to be of Igbo origin are of Aro (Arochukwu) descent who settled in their midst in between the 1700s to 1800s during the infamous slave trade. It turns out that the Aros settled in many interior Igbo communities and other areas such as Bonny Island in Ijawland from where they organized the notorious slave trade (where many interior tribes now referred to as collectively as Igbos) were captured and brought to the Atlantic coast to be sold to the White men who bought the enslaved people while the Ijaws made money by acting as the middlemen in the trade based off of what the Aros brought to them. The Trans-Atlantic slave ship records and other advanced archival documents that I've read since the 1980s show that 80% of the "Eboes" Igbos shipped out of Bonny Island were females while the rest were males. Jaja of Opobo himself was sold as a slave from the Igbo interior in the early 1800s (he was from Amaigbo in Imo State) and was brought to Bonny Island where he was acquired by his Ijaw master and made to undergo Ijaw initiation rites to become Ijawnized after he became a free man. However, an internal political war in Bonny led to Jaja (and others of different pure Ijaw and Ibo slave ethnic origins) to flee to Ibibioland (Ikot Abasi) in 1870 where he and his fleeing team were given land in Ikot Abasi (Opobo). As a matter of fact, the advanced history books state that Jaja would have been killed, but his British trader friends that he knew from Bonny saved him by repelling the better armed political rivals from Bonny Island who chased Jaja and his team to where they fled to.

The Aros actually worked in partnership with their allies from Ohafia and Abam (all in today's Abia State) to raid for many captives in the Igbo interior who were sold as slaves in Bonny, and other slave ports of the Ibibio and Efiks. This is the reason why Asari Dokubo who identifies as an Ijaw today emphasized in some of his videos that his direct male ancestor Ediabali (an Abam man) was part of an Aro team (or contingent) from Obosi that got retained by the Ijaw ruler who needed his services in the Palace.

Leave people to make their choices regarding their identity now. Na you go force them to attach by force? This attitude of yours will make your Biafra dream a pipe dream for centuries to come because even if the whole ethnic groups in Nigeria agrees to break up, as more and more people are now tired of you guys, the fear amongst the other big tribes is that you guys will try to grab other people's land and resources which will lead to unending wars. Haba, bini and itsekiris shared same ancestry, similar names, culture and tradition with the yorubas but you will never find any Yoruba person who is interested in forcing them. The moment you start to adjust the map you will open a floodgate of unending conflicts as we see in Gaza. Just because your people are in the US will you go and claim their land? For me, I truly support the exclusion of Igbo land and people from Nigeria and will mobilize everyone to vote for Biafra if there is referendum tomorrow because we are all tired of you people but my biggest concern is that there will SURELY be a war without end between the igbo and their minority neighbors. Jonathan said something similar at a university in the US last week.

I agree with Obi of Onitsha.

But more importantly,
There is no thing traditional about igwe's and obi's in Igboland of which Anambra is part of.

They were started by British invaders as a means to subdue the people, Igbo had no chiefs, talk less of warrant Chiefs, nor Kings.

Nze and Ozo were socio political Societies, with Pyramid structures that allowed several people to provide leadership based on their level of title in the society. It is similar to a parliamentary government, with no Prime minister, only the leadership of the House. There morality and court were provided by Nri theocracy through the transfer of Ofo!

Soludo- can we stop deceiving ourselves. Do away with all the Igwes and Obi and replace them with the people's congress (which we have as town unions already) led by three elected persons forming a trinity to be known as Mayor or some igbo name 'Izu'. Trinity so they countercheck each other. Pass a law that establishes them as an extension of the state Government, but synchronize with Local government ment laws by electing them as councillors. This will make for faster more people oriented development, and also force the judicious use of local Goverment funds as they can be shared for community administration by the state Government irrespective of who answers local Government Chairman. You make the non performing Local Govt. Chairmen redundant.

Today, there’s almost an app for everything. Games, fashion, modelling, you get apps that claim to help you in one way or the other. That is one advantage that comes with the digitization of services worldwide, especially over the Internet. In Nigeria, the craze has caught on as well with all commercial banks having apps that customers can use to perform basic transactions, instead of having to visit the banking hall. However, what many people need is a way to monitor and in most cases inmprove their personal finances. Most bank apps will not do that on a neutral basis, but there are apps that will do. These 3 apps were recommended by Investopedia as the best apps in 2017 for managing personal finances.

Your entire post contains serious historical errors.

Let me EDUCATE you historically here with the recorded FACTS which can be further verified. I have a 2017 newpaper link attached BELOW where the Benue State-born General John Atom Kpera who was an Army 2nd Lieutenant as of January 15, 1966 said MOST of the officers in his Squadron were Igbos and ONLY 4 were non-Igbos who took orders from their senior officers without knowing and so did NOT know that they were being used to plot a coup! I do NOT want to derail this thread so I will keep it as succinct as possible. I have had cause to watch archival videos and read advanced books since 1981 as a veteran of Nigerian Civil War history and the geopolitical events preceeding it, so, I have a very vast knowledge of the events that happened from the different political and military actors on all sides based off of the books in my vast personal library.

Role I Played in 1966 Coup – General Atom Kpera
Published on December 31, 2017
By John Owen Nwachukwu

=>https://dailypost.ng/2017/12/31/role-played-1966-coup-general-atom-kpera/

First off, the reason why that coup of January 15, 1966 has been called an "Igbo Coup" right from the 1960s is simply because those irresponsible young men in their 20s who opened direct gun fire and brutally killed Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Tafawa Balewa, Aare Ona Kakanfo Ladoke Akintola, Chief Okotie-Eboh and several other Northern and Western senior military and civilian officials Without killing ANY Igbo leader were Igbo-speaking military junior officers! As of 1964 to 1965, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Timothy Onwuatuegwu, Chris Anuforo, Don Okafor, Humphrey Chukwuka and Adewale Ademoyega were already preparing for the coup which was led by Emmanuel Ifeajuna.

The RECAP of the other core plotters includes:

1. Kaduna Nzeogwu
2. Don Okafor
3. Timothy Onwutuegwu
4. Chris Anuforo
5. Adewale Ademoyega
6. Humphrey Chukwuka
7. Nwaobosi
8. Ben Gbulie
9. Orji.

The others guys were simply junior officers from other non-Igbo ethnic groups who took orders from their seniors without knowing what the event was all about.

Second, in an interview which Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu (who is from Okpanam, near Asaba in Delta State) granted in 1966, he accused the other coup plotters who were majorly Igbos from the East of River Niger of TRIBALISM because the ORIGINAL plan of the coup plotters was to eliminate some of the political leaders in all the regions of Nigeria but the Igbo officers allegedly tipped Michael Okpara off and he escaped. Nnamdi Azikiwe himself NO doubt knew about the coup plot because he failed to return from his supposed medical trip abroad despite the fact that a Commonwealth Heads of State Summit was taking place on Lagos Island and it was totally strange that Azikiwe failed to arrive from abroad despite the fact that his aides had returned to Nigeria. Ifeajuna who was the leader of that coup is a direct relative of Nnamdi Azikiwe. Azikiwe's political party's Alliance with the Northern Nigeria party (NPC) had been floundering or experiencing problems so, it wasn't surprising that a plot was going on underground.

Third, this is why in a 1999 Guardian newspaper interview that Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye granted which I still have, (Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye is the father of Ijaw nationalism from Bonny Island) he accused the Igbos of trying to rival the Yorubas who were far ahead of them in many positions (and also took a swipe at the Igbos and the young coup plotters who he referred to as "school boys" stating CLEARLY that they were SENT to plot that January 1966 coup with the knowledge of the Eastern political leaders). He further said that as part of the plan of Igbo domination of Nigeria, Aguiyi Ironsi NOT only failed to prosecute the coup plotters who where overwhelmingly of Igbo origin but also created the Unification Decree 33 of 1966 which made it eligible to immediately send Igbo civil servants to the North, South of South, and West of Nigeria to occupy civil service and public positions. Dappa-Biriye said in his own words that the act of promulgation Decree 33 sent shivers of concern of Igbo domination down the spines of the Niger Delta people and the Northern Region of Nigeria. This also caused concerns in the Western Region of Nigeria as well.

Fourth, General John Atom Kpera (rtd) was a junior officer of the rank of 2nd Lieutenant from today's Benue State who was INNOCENTLY dragged into the senseless January 1966 coup plot BUT he and other non-Igbo officers didn't know it was a deadly coup that was ongoing. Majority of the officers in his Squadron were Igbos. He later got to know that he was illegally used for coup and this is why he rose to the rank of a Nigerian Army General because the Army was satisfied that indeed he didn't know but only innocently joined the coup plotters thinking it was a normal military routine they were going for. He granted an interview on this issue in the media as well.

BELOW is the EXCERPT of the 2017 interview publication about the Nigerian Civil War veteran General John Atom Kpera. He is still alive in Benue State.

"Role I Played in 1966 Coup – General Atom Kpera"
Published on December 31, 2017
By John Owen Nwachukwu

“That is why I said I participated in it blindfolded. I wasn’t the ONLY one; ALL our officers, probably ONLY the Igbo officers knew that it was a coup. In that squadron, we were four that were non-Igbo, every other person was an officer of Igbo extraction. That was how it went.”
=>https://dailypost.ng/2017/12/31/role-played-1966-coup-general-atom-kpera/

Now, it must be emphasized here that it was an Igbo-dominated coup! Forget about Major Adewale Ademoyega's naive presence among the coup plotters. The current Oba of Ido Ani in Ondo State (The Alani of Ido-Ani, Oba Olufemi Olutoye), graduated from Cambridge University, joined the Nigerian Army and retired as a Major General in the Nigerian Army in 1977 before becaming the king of his town in 2014. He was also secretly informed by Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu about the coup plot in 1964 before it took place on January 15 1966 when they went for a military course in India but Oba Olufemi Olutoye told Sunday Punch newspaper that he REJECTED it when he heard that the political leaders of the regions of Nigeria were to be killed and he said he tried to dissuade Kaduna Nzeogwu from the coup plan. He said he was shocked when the coup of January 15 1966 and the killings of political and military leaders took place and thought to himself that: "this boy eventually carried out this coup." So, this is another evidence that Nzeogwu indeed planned that the leaders would be wiped out BUT the betrayal from among the coup plotters of Igbo origin East of the River Niger is the reason why Nzeogwu accused the coup plotters of TRIBALISM!

1966 coup plotters planned to make Awolowo Head of State — Olutoye
31st July 2016
=>https://punchng.com/1966-coup-plotters-planned-make-awolowo-head-state-olutoye/

EXCERPTS of the Sunday Punch interview.
The coup seemed to have been targeted at military officers from a particular part of Nigeria and it was also tagged, ‘Igbo Coup’. Why?
It later turned out to be so, although all the six majors who plotted it were Igbos except one — Major Ademoyega from Remo, Ogun State. I want to assure you that, that was not Nzeogwu’s intention. As I told you, the coup was planned as far back as 1964. Maybe between 1964 and end of 1965, he changed his mind. I can’t say why he did so but those that showed interest in the coup turned out to be Igbos. Even his utterances when the coup took place on January 15, 1966, showed that he didn’t mean it to be an Igbo affair but unfortunately, it turned out to be so that an Igbo man could also become the Head of State.

So, it was indeed an "Igbo Coup" masquerading initially as a nationalist coup with just a TINY sprinkling of officers and soldiers such as the Benue born (Tiv) 2nd Lt. John Atom Kpera and Major Adewale Ademoyega from other ethnic groups. This led to the revenge coup 6 months later leading to heavy loss of lives as well, then the pograms occurred and made worse due to certain Igbos who were stupidly jubilating and taunting the Northerners on the assassination and death of Northern military and political leaders, saying in Hausa, "shi ne maganin ku" meaning "That is your medicine" and openly playing that music titled (Ewu na ebe akwa) used to taunt the Northerners which originally was a song by Rex Lawson, an Ijaw music icon. This is why Aguiyi Ironsi promulgated another decree in 1966 alongside Decree 33 banning the spread of inciting public comments and hate speech!

All that is now in recorded history and it's uncalled for for anybody to hold Igbos guilty in perpetuity because it's in the painful PAST, BUT it's ALSO highly IRRESPONSIBLE and insulting to the memories of those who lost the lives of family members for young persons of Igbo origin to get up in 2025 to engage in blatant FORGERY by twisting history while saying this CLEAR "Igbo-dominated coup" of January 15 1966 didn't historically happen as an "Igbo Coup." If the betrayal and tribalism of some Igbo officers as told by Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu had NOT taken place and some Eastern Nigeria political and military leaders had been assassinated the way leaders of other regions had been ruthlessly selected and killed, NOBODY will be talking of the infamous "Igbo Coup" of January 15 1966 right from the late 1960s till today! Aguiyi Ironsi too acted very STUPIDLY by delaying the trial of the coup plotters thereby giving room for the second revenge coup of 1966 six months to take place.

Indeed... Those who FAIL to learn from the PAST will LEARN the very hard way. Period.
PoliticsRe: Diezani Denies Ownership Of Repatriated $52.8m Loot, Reveals Owner’s Name by Konquest: 12:38am On Jan 20, 2025
ogododo:
Diezani Alison-Madueke, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, has distanced herself from the $52. 8m recently repatriated to Nigeria from the United States of America (USA).

Contrary to reports, the ex-minister, who has been in the United Kingdom (UK) since she left Nigeria, said the money does not belong to her.

In a statement titled “There is no such thing as Diezani Loot, Alison-Madueke claimed the money that was reportedly linked to her belongs to a Nigeria’s oil magnate, Kola Aluko.

In the statement released through her counsel, Prof. Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the ex-minister insisted there was nothing like “Diezani Loot.”

Explaining how the looted money came by, Alison-Madueke said the $52. 8m dollars came from a vessel seized by the American government from Aluko.

According to her, the vessel was later sold and its proceeds was returned to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Describing reports that linked her to the repatriated money as false, the ex-minister the purveyors of the information were hellbent on tarnishing her image, adding that she has nothing to do with the purchase, use and sale of the seize vessel.

The statement reads in part: “We note with concern the recent deliberate attempt to link her with what has been described as a civil forfeiture of a yacht Galactica, the sale of which was said to have yielded $52.8m to the US government; which sum has since been repatriated to Nigeria.

‘This is a clear example of the mischievous and cruel sport of tarnishing the image of the lady through a bouquet of consistent, persistent and unrelenting cocktail of falsehoods and misinformation.

“The purveyors of this line of misinformation term it “name-and-shame”. To sell the storyline, the architects ensured they attached Diezani’s name to a recovered yacht which is not in any way linked to her.

“They now falsely termed it “Diezani loot”. Nothing of the sort ever happened. She was never involved in the purchase, use and sale of the said yacht.

“The yacht Galactica, from information readily available in the public domain and in open sources, was purchased by Mr Kola Aluko who had used the vessel until he agreed to its forfeiture to the United States of America.”

She, therefore, advised those peddling unfounded, defamatory information and indefensible narratives about her to find better use of their time and leave her alone.

PoliticsRe: We Steal Children In Ilesa, Ondo, Sell For ₦‎500,000 In Anambra — Suspects by Konquest: 12:25am On Jan 20, 2025
Y.ibo:
Three suspects allegedly involved in child trafficking have been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command following a sting operation.

The three-member child trafficking syndicate, identified as Lukman Isiaka, 43; Abosede Olanipekun, 23; and Sabira Izuorah, 68, were apprehended with no fewer than 14 babies and toddlers stolen from Akure, the state capital, and Ilesa, Osun State.

The babies and toddlers were recovered from the ‘orphanage’ of Izuorah in Ihiala, Anambra State, where they were trafficked by Lukman and Abosede, who are both a couple.

Among the stolen babies were three weeks old, two weeks old, and two months old, among others.

While being paraded at the police headquarters in Akure, Izuorah, who claimed to have retired as a Director from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Anambra State, admitted to having received the children from the couple.

She said, “I have a registered orphanage. I took care of children. The name of my orphanage is Clarion Children’s Care and Reforms Initiatives, and it started full operation in 2020.

“Lukman and his wife brought a total of 11 children to me. I don’t pay them; it is the adoptive parents who pay them. The adoptive parents don’t pay me; they give us food items and supplies.

“I stopped Lukman and his wife from bringing children for me in November 2024. All the children were no longer with me, but I went to recover them from their adoptive parents. It didn’t start with me, and it will not end with me.”

While confessing to being involved in the crime since 2023, Lukman, a bricklayer, stated that Izuorah introduced him and his wife to the illicit trade when he left Ondo State to work in Anambra.

According to him, Izuorah always paid him N500,000 per child, which she in turn sold to her prospective buyers for N1 million and above.

He said, “I have been stealing children since 2023. I have given a total of 11 children to Izuorah. The method my wife and I use to steal the children is when we are going, and we see any child roaming about, we call them and say we will buy soft drinks and biscuits for them.

“After telling them that, they will follow us. After walking for about 10 minutes, we will board a bike to the park, where we will board a vehicle to Anambra State to give Izuorah the children.

“She normally gives us N500,000 for each child that we bring to her. I met Izuorah when we went to Anambra to work. I’m a bricklayer. She was the one who introduced me to the business after training me, and since then, I have been giving her children.

“I don’t know anything about the two-month-old and four-month-old babies. She is the one who can say where she got them from. I only operate in Akure, Ondo State, and Ilesa, Osun State.”

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Wilfred Afolabi, who hailed the spirited effort of the police operatives in rescuing the victims, stated that intelligence-led policing made the operation a success when Lukman and Abosede were traced to Ottah village in Edo State, where they were arrested.

Afolabi added that the arrested couple led the police operatives to Anambra State, where Izuorah was arrested and moved to Akure.

“A case of a missing child was reported at Okuta Elerin-Nla Division in Akure. A complainant reported that Abosede deceived her by claiming she wanted to buy biscuits for the baby.

“Meanwhile, Lukman distracted the complainant by engaging her in a personal conversation and requested that she follow him to Olukayode Plaza in the market to get a mobile phone. On getting to the market area, he abandoned her and left. When the complainant returned to the shop, she discovered that her child was missing, with no trace of Abosede, the supposed sister of the man she followed to the market; thus, a report was made at the Division.

“During interrogation, the suspects admitted to abducting the child and other children from Ondo and Osun States and selling them to Sabira Izuorah, aged 62 years, in Ihiala, Anambra State, at the rate of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) per child.”

The police commissioner, however, stated that some children are currently on the missing list while efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue them. He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

Truly pathetic! I said it earlier that this is the new trend of recruiting agents with millions being paid to the indigenous people of an area by these Eastern Nigeria-based child stealing criminal cartels majorly in Anambra and Imo States to deflect any suspicions. It's time to make these criminal laws stiffer and punishable by death NOT just for this type of crime but for other crimes such as drug trafficking, ritual murders, homicides, armed robberies, and kidnappings to serve as a deterrent. Period.

CrimeRe: EFCC mourns Operative, Salisu Sahabi Killed In Awka Raid, Names Suspect by Konquest:
fergie.001:
EFCC PRESS STATEMENT

EFCC Condemns False Narratives on Loss of Officer

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, expresses grief on the loss of one of its officers, Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, ASE II Aminu Sahabi Salisu who was killed in cold blood while on a legitimate duty on January 17, 2025 by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu.

Additionally, the Commission views with great concern the irresponsible, callous, inhuman and outrageous narratives being circulated on social media on the whys and wherefores of the fatal accident. It is heinous to reduce the death of a gallant officer who was carrying out patriotic and official duties to social media razzmatazz.

More worrisome is the fact that some faceless commentators are pitching their tents with an alleged criminal who unleashed terror on officers of the EFCC in their line of duty. There is no justification whatsoever to rationalise a murderous act. The milk of human kindness demands that a grieving family, Commission and nation should be spared the shenanigans of false narratives and conjectures on the death of the slain officer.

Salisu, alongside other investigators of the EFCC, were at Dr. J.O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka, Anambra State, to arrest some suspected internet fraudsters in the early hours of January 17. The operation was duly documented at the Anambra State Command Headquarters and Area Command of the Nigeria Police in line with operational protocols.

The operation was initially smooth sailing with 37 suspected internet fraudsters already arrested at a two-storey building housing Ikechukwu and other occupants of the house.

However, Ikechukwu, who sighted the investigators through a CCTV Camera mounted at his doorpost and who also confessed sighting them, declined to open his door for the investigators who politely demanded entrance to his apartment. Defying all the introduction and physical sighting of the investigators, he resorted to firing shots at them and killed Salisu in the process and wounded another officer detailed to conduct a search in his apartment.

Preliminary investigations showed that Ikechukwu was involved in coding and online medical supplies of doubtful legitimacy. Two laptops, ipads, several recording devices were recovered from his apartment and his involvement in internet fraud is already established. Though currently in police custody owing to the murderous dimension of his case, the Commission will surely bring him to trial.

The EFCC also wishes to alert the public that the activities of internet fraudsters are becoming patently hazardous to public safety and security. Intelligence has shown that these criminals are carrying arms, involved in kidnapping, banditry, ritual killings and other deadly acts. The public should not fold its arms or allow itself to be deceived that they are mere “Yahoo boys and girls”.

As for the EFCC, every subsequent attack on any of its officers will be met with the force of the law. The Commission will not fold its arms and allow any of its officers to be killed again in cold blood. As a law enforcement agency of repute, the EFCC is unrelenting in riding the nation of internet fraud and other acts of corruption.

While mourning the loss of its officer who paid the supreme price in the service of the nation, the Commission appreciates the invaluable support, condolences and prompt response of sister agencies and well-meaning individuals standing shoulder to shoulder with it at this trying time.

Car TalkRe: Police Recover Two Stolen Vehicles Through The e-CMR Platform by Konquest: 6:53pm On Jan 19, 2025
BluntCrazeMan:
POLICE RECOVER TWO STOLEN VEHICLES THROUGH E-CMR PLATFORM

The Kano police command says it has recovered two stolen vehicles in the state.

A statement on Friday by Abdullahi Kiyawa, the police spokesperson, said the vehicles were recovered using the electronic central motor registry (e-CMR) platform.

Kiyawa said the suspects stole the first vehicle during a car test drive in Abuja, while the other car was taken in Kano where it was parked.

“The Kano state police command has made significant strides in the recovery of two (2) motor vehicles reported stolen through the NPF Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) Platform,” the statement reads.

“On 1st January 2025, a complaint was lodged by a resident of Abuja, stating that unidentified individuals approached him at his car stand located in Zuba, Abuja, expressing interest in a Toyota Corolla 2014 model.

“During a test drive, the two suspects brandished a pistol, threatened the victim, and subsequently fled with the vehicle including original documents and two keys. Similarly, on 4th January 2025, a Mercedes Benz C300 parked in front of Luxirian Event Center in Nassarawa GRA, Kano owned by a resident of Hadejia Road, Kano was reported stolen.”

The police spokesperson said the operatives, after obtaining relevant information from the e-CMR platform, recovered the stolen vehicles behind old airport in Bauchi state, and Shagari Quarters in Kano state respectively.
