CrimeRe: Ondo Police Recover Stolen Babies From Anambra, Arrest Suspects by Konquest:

This is the first time that I'm seeing two alleged people who are NOT Igbos getting involved in this crime of stealing children for sale for decades now. Based on crime data available to me, it has always been highly notorious male and female members of criminal cartels from the East of Nigeria (especially in Anambra and Imo States) that have been physically stealing children FROM their parents in all parts of Nigeria (including Igbo children living in the West, South of South and North of Nigeria). It's CLEARLY evident that a fairly new recruitment tactic by these criminal cartels is taking place right now using people indigenous to an area to steal children in order to reduce suspicion.

This case MUST be investigated properly to ensure that these criminal cartels with deep roots in Igboland are disrupted and brought to justice. In China, and some ruthless countries, these kinds of crimes such as kidnappings of women and children for sale as sex slaves or child labor, gang rapes, drug trafficking, ritual murders, homicides, financial crimes, etc, are punishable with death to serve as a deterant! I have stated consistently for years that MOST Nigerian politicians and lawmakers over the years are totally GUILTY of fueling and enabling these crimes seen today because they have refused to make stiffer laws and the LAME Governors since 1999 have ALSO refused to sign the death warrants of those who the courts have sentenced to death except the former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomole who was brave enough to sign the death warrants. It's a well-known fact worldwide that 70% of ALL crimes are committed by repeat offenders (rate of recidivism). Tbh, the country called Nigeria is indeed acting out like an underachieving country and needs a major reset from a focused politician who has the attributes of a "benevolent dictator" as first stated by the technocrat and politician, Chief Olu Falae!
Foreign AffairsRe: Inflation Forces Nigeriens To Adapt What They Eat by Konquest: 3:40pm On Jan 19, 2025
Great100000:
Niamey, Niger — At a Niamey market, mother of five Rakia Abdou haggles hard for a sack of rice, a staple out of reach for many in Niger due to record inflation.

“The prices of local food are falling but those for imported products are still high,” she said at the Wadata market, lightly coated in dust carried by the wind of west Africa’s Harmattan dry season.

It is almost a year since the lifting of heavy sanctions on Niger imposed by regional West African bloc ECOWAS to protest the overthrow of civilian president Mohamed Bazoum in 2023.

But constantly changing prices mean that many of Niger’s 26 million inhabitants face the grim daily choice of having to adapt or even go without.

Four days after military officers seized power, the Economic Community of West African States slapped tough economic and financial measures on landlocked Niger, one of the world’s poorest countries.

Economist Abdallah Souleymane said the sanctions “completely disrupted the supply chains” and resulted in “difficulties with imports”.

There were “repercussions on the cost of many products, particularly food”, he added in an interview on national television.

Inflation in Niger peaked at a record high of 15.5 percent in June last year before falling towards the end of the year, data from the National Statistics Institute showed.

For 2025 to 2026, it is expected to remain high at 5.4 percent, according to World Bank projections.

Border closed, long detour

Trade unions say the main factor driving costs higher is the closure of the border with Benin, which has the closest port through which 80 percent of Niger’s freight transited.

Niger, which is battling jihadist violence, refuses to open its border with Benin, accusing it of harboring jihadist training camps — an accusation Porto Novo denies.

Niamey has found a workaround via the port of Lome in Togo.

But this forces thousands of trucks to make a long detour and cross eastern Burkina Faso, running through a region also plagued by deadly jihadist attacks.

The new routes entail higher costs that are passed on to customers in the prices of essential necessities.
Source: https://business.inquirer.net/501713/inflation-forces-nigeriens-to-adapt-what-they-eat
It's delusional ego from the Niger Republic military dictatorship that's causing the high cost of food items. As the article report rightly indicates, the closure of Niger Republic's land border with Benin Republic due to the FALSE claims that Benin in harboring terrorists (who those of us who are intelligence analysts know are members of the criminal Jihadist gang called JNIM which is affiliated to Al-Qaeda) coming into Niger Republic from Mali and Burkina Faso has led to food trucks NOT being able to load imported food from the Benin Republic seaport so, they have to go to Lome in Togo to clear the commodities. This has simply pushed freight costs up and cost of production as well.

Yam Amala is my best.
Always been my best.
Indeed Yam Amala and unripe plantain Amala are very good and go well with all kinds of soups. I just got to know from a YT channel that the Yoruba folks have "Elubo Gbodo" and "Elubo Poroporo" which are made from totally different species of yams. The Elubo Gbodo requires less use of yam flour to make the Yam Amala thicker and men say they like that, while the Elubo Poroporo is used to make fluffier or lighter Yam Amala which women say they like better.

Make I educate Una small...

Tuwo means " Any Swallow food"
That is why U have:

"Tuwo shinkafa" (swallow made out of rice) "Tuwo Masara" (Swalow made out of maize)
"Tuwo Gero" (Tuwo made out of millet)
"Tuwo Alkama" (Tuwo made out of wheat)

"Tuwo dawa" (Tuwo made out of Guinea corn)

So forget Semo, is Tuwo Masara

Wheat swallow is Tuwo Alkama, na there dem copy am.
The Golden Penny Semolina flavor feels, smells and tastes much softer and different from the regular Hausa Tuwon Masara which didn't go too well with my taste buds maybe because of the harder and brittle consistency. I like Tuwon Shinkafa (made from a different specie of small whitish rice) the best and it goes well with any major Nigerian regional soup.

SHOCKING TWIST 🔥 HAUSA WOMEN & OTHERS SEEK ALLIANCE WITH YORUBA & IGBO TO FIGHT FULANI CONQUERORS

In this video, we’re bringing you a story that has shocked many Nigerians. Some Hausa women have come forward with explosive claims about the Fulanis and their hidden plans for Nigeria. Let’s get into it.

These women say the Fulanis have been using religion and power to dominate not just the North but the entire country. They’re urging other regions—especially the Yoruba and Igbo—to join hands with the indigenous Hausas in a fight for Nigeria’s future.

Now, here’s where it gets even more concerning. According to them, the Northern region has been hiding the truth for years. By pretending that the Hausa and Fulani are one people, they’ve created confusion, making it hard for Nigerians to see who the real problem is.

They say the Fulanis are using Islam as a tool to control the indigenous Northerners, especially the Hausas. Did you know that most imams, governors, deputies, and even presidents from the North are Fulani? These women are saying it’s all part of a bigger plan.

And it doesn’t stop there. Farmers in the North have been attacked at will, and more Fulani people are reportedly entering Nigeria from the Sahel, invading communities. These women claim it’s a deliberate effort to take over and rule completely.
~~~~~~
And it doesn’t stop there. Farmers in the North have been attacked at will, and more Fulani people are reportedly entering Nigeria from the Sahel, invading communities. These women claim it’s a deliberate effort to take over and rule completely.
What’s worse, the Fulanis have allegedly brainwashed the Hausas into following whatever they say—good or bad. They’ve blurred the lines between religion, culture, and language, teaching Hausas to hate anyone who isn’t Muslim, even if they’re fellow Hausas. Christians, they say, are given derogatory names like Mauzawa to divide people further.
But these women are saying enough is enough. They’re calling on the indigenous Northerners to wake up, separate religion from culture, and see the truth. They believe this Fulani dominance must end before it’s too late.
Guys, I’ll let you watch this video for yourself so you can see exactly what I’m talking about. Also, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to this channel if you haven’t already done so.
Amala and Fufu are roten food. Not healthy for normal people. The process of making Fufu and Amala is not healthy. The most healthy swallow is Tuwo Shinkafa, Tuwo Masara and Pounded yam
Kool Moe Dee (One of my favorite rap OGs from when I started listening to rap music in the early 1980s), aptly said "Knowledge is King" in his 1989 rap album.
You have typed a very MISLEADING information on "Amala" which is made from 3 different kinds of Elubo (yam flour, unripe plantain flour, and lafun OR fermented cassava flour) here. It's WRONG and highly disrespectful of YOU to come on an online discussion forum to post demeaning comments about other people's ethnic cuisines that have been eaten for centuries. I've eaten Tuwon Shinkafa, Tuwon Masara, Tsire (the standard Hausa word for grilled steak meat and chicken), Asun, Boli and grilled fish combo, and a wide range of properly made Nigerian street foods and foods served in standard restaurants and hotels over my decades of travels and they are largely good. The ONLY foods I won't ever eat are sushi (Japanese uncooked fish dish) and monkey meat including grilled OR pepper soups made from crocodile, snake and dog meat, which is personal to me because I dislike eating meat from carnivorous animals.
Just so you know, the term Amala is a Yoruba word which refers to the final swallow that is made from boiled water mixed with the 3 different types of Elubo [Elubo is the Yoruba word for powdered yam flour, powdered unripe plantain flour, and powdered fermented cassava (lafun) flour].
Elubo is made from 3 sources of either sun-dried OR better yet industrial oven-dried peeled yams, peeled unripe plantains, and fermented cassava (lafun) which are then milled and turned into packaged FLOUR brands of yam flour, unripe plantain flour, and lafun (cassava flour) which you can find in top department stores and food shops worldwide.
Elubo Isu (Yam flour)
Elubo Ogede (Unripe plantain flour)
Elubo Lafun (Fermented cassava flour).
It's these 3 different types of Elubos (yam flour, unripe plantain flour, and lafun (fermented cassava flour) that the Yoruba folks use to make "Amala" which is the final swallow.
1] Amala made from oven-dried and milled "yam flour" is colored light to dark brown.
2] Amala made from oven-dried and milled unripe plantain flour is colored light brown.
3] Amala made from lafun (fermented cassava flour) is colored white and this is why it is called WHITE Amala.
GloriousGbola:
simple question has the corpse of the officer been flown to sokoto for burial?
if so - at whose cost - on whose budget?
also why is a corpse involved in a criminal case buried rather than autopsied as this is now an official criminal case?
let everyone come out with their own version of events
@GloriousGbola,
Those are fundamental questions you asked right there. He has been buried already. It's definitely the EFCC's duty to do all that explaining of flight and burial costs.
But then again, since the young EFCC operative who got killed is a Muslim from Sokoto State, he had to be buried the same day. Based off of my years of knowledge of Islam, they don't believe in autopsy. Once there is NO sign of life, the body is buried the same day in a shroud at a cheap cost.
My major problem here is the FALSE inclusion of the name of the Chief-of-Army-Staff in this tardy publication. It's very unprofessional of Omoyele to publish that FAKE news without proper verification from Army HQ. Many times, Omoyele has come out to APOLOGIZE for publishing misleading information through his online Website. How long are we gonna continue with that kind of behavior after originally misleading the public?
Aside from the fact that I liked Omoyele Sowore because of his active student union activism back in UNILAG in the late 1980s through to the 1990s that nearly got him killed after he was injected with an unknown substance by a campus gang, I used to read Omoyele's SaharaReporters for credible information back in the 2000s and 2010s, but it has now gone to the dogs within the last 5 years. Peoples Gazette is an even WORSE online publication than SaharaReporters.
CrimeRe: EFCC operative, Halisu Sahabi killed during Awka raid, buried in Sokoto - SR by Konquest:
fergi.e001:
Halisu Sahabi, an Assistant Superintendent of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who was killed on Friday by a suspected internet fraudster, during a raid in Awka, Anambra State, has been buried in Sokoto State by his family.
SaharaReporters learnt further from family sources that ASE II Sahabi was planning to get married in the year after the "next fasting season" before his untimely death.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Anambra State Police Command on Saturday arrested the suspect, a medical doctor, who attacked the operatives of the EFCC.
The suspect is identified as Chukwuka Josiah Ikechukwu Nnamdi who hails from Ifite, Awka, Anambra State.
SaharaReporters had learnt from top police sources on Saturday that Dr Ikechukwu Nnamdi was arrested while he was hiding in the ceiling of his neighbour's room after the crime.
SaharaReporters had reported that Halisu, who was confirmed dead after the shooting by the suspected fraudster was flown to Sokoto State for burial.
SaharaReporters had learnt that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, reportedly visited Awka, the Anambra State capital, to arrange for the transportation of the EFCC operative to Sokoto State for burial according to Islamic rites.
"He was buried in Sokoto this afternoon according to Muslim rites. Salisu was billed to get married after the next fasting season but he died tragically in the line of duty after his team was dispatched to confront alleged internet fraudsters in Awka, without bulletproof vest," a family source explained to SaharaReporters.
Speaking with SaharaReporters on Saturday, a top police source had earlier revealed, "The gunman was arrested by the police and EFCC operatives in the ceiling of his neighbour's room.
"After shooting and killing the EFCC operative he threw out the gun, a short pump action gun owned and licenced by his father into the bush.
"He hid at first in his ceiling and then crawled to his neighbour’s ceiling from where the police arrested and detained him."
"His father went to the police station to state and support his position that he killed in self-defence.
"All the EFCC operatives dispatched for the night operation had no bulletproof vest. They just wore their branded EFCC jackets."
"His killer, Chukwuka Josiah ikechukwu Nnamdi from Ifite, Awka, is currently detained at the SCID and he is likely to face murder charges even though he claimed he shot and killed the EFCC operative in self-defence."
Police sources further told SaharaReporters that Dr Nnamdi threw the gun out of the window after firing shots that killed the EFCC operative and injured another operative.
"This was the gun he claimed was licensed to his father," the police source added.
Omoyele Sowore and his usual embellished stories again.
How can SaharaReporters claim they learned that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, reportedly visited Awka, the Anambra State capital, to arrange for the transportation of the EFCC operative to Sokoto State for burial according to Islamic rites?
Damn!
It's completely impossible for a whole Chief of Army Staff to visit Awka to transport the body of an EFCC operative that was killed in a takedown operation against suspected fraudsters.
NO standard ethics of Journalism being followed whatsoever!
That's a highly irresponsible and asinine publication from Omoyele and his despicable gang which further emphasizes the importance of taking anything SaharaReporters and that other highly notorious People’s Gazette publish online with a pinch of salt! It's time to start penalizing these so-called overpampered publishers of online news Websites with "very heavy fines" for the relentless dangerous destabilizations, fake news and distortions of historical facts" which didn't start today but gained more traction within the last 12 years," involving even the more notorious non-state actors.
WhiteIverson:
Eat foods high in protein. If possible eat 6 times a day. You'll notice changes in 1 month.
Lean meats: Chicken breast, beef, turkey
Fish: Salmon, tuna
Eggs
Greek yogurt
Peanut butter
Oats
Avocado
Almond milk
Protein powders
Try to eat 2500-3000 calories a day
If you can eat 6 times a day, more if possible.
Don't forget to workout, so you can convert all that fat to muscle.
Most important: You need money to add healthy weight and maintain it. You can decide to cheat by eating junk food and gain weight but that is unhealthy gain and you will be at a high risk of multiple sicknesses later in life.
So, eat healthy, bulk healthy.
Also, don't forget to get lots of sleep.
That's a largely tested meal plan in addition to the resistance exercises for especially ectomorph body types.
FoodRe: This Is Tuwo Shinkafa: One Of The Most Popular Swallow In Northern Nigeria by Konquest:
LocalFARMERS:
Tuwon Shinkafa (Rice swallow) is made from 100% Rice. It is a major swallow in Northern Nigeria. So many eat this as their major swallow at home, on a daily basis. It is also served in special occasions like weddings, naming Ceremony, Birthday parties, special occasions etc.
Tuwo Shinkafa go well with either Egusi soup, bitter leaf, Groundnut Soup, vegetables etc. It doesn't go well with draw Soup (my opinion).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HngF98XQXAc
What do you mean by "draw soup?"
In my travels, I've tasted tuwon shinkafa and it goes well with ALL kinds of Nigerian soups.
Tuwon masara doesn't go well with my taste buds though.
Not the North but specifically and categorically the Hausa fulani Kanuri Muslims of the North
They love it when they wield power against the rest Nigerians.
Very Wicked, Heartless beings
Look, you have to exclude Kanuri people from that list of yours. Kanuri folks are known to be moderates despite haven practiced Islam for over 1000 years before British Colonialism started and long before the Uthman Dan Fodio-led Fulani Jihadists who came in from the present Niger Republic, Guinea (Futa Jalon area) and Mali started their 1803 war in Hausaland (Hausaland extends from Niger Republic to Northern Nigeria). The objective had more to do with subjugation and land grabbing including the despicable slave trade.
The Fulani Jihadists attacked the Kanuris as well in the 1800s wanting to conquer them but they resisted, losing a few battles but the Kanuris largely inflicted major blows to the Fulani invaders in partnership with their Kanuri (Kanembu) cousins in modern Republic of Chad. A lot of Kanuris such as Ali Eisami who was the son of a Kanuri Islamic scholar was captured and sold into slavery in the early 1800s by the Fulani invaders till he got to the Atlantic Coast. Fortunately he and others got rescued by the Royal British Navy from the slave ship he was on and set free in Freetown Sierra Leone. At a particular point in the mid-1800s, over 700 Kanuri people were rescued from slave ships in total and set free in Sierra Leone with most being victims of the Fulani-Kanuri wars of the 1800s.
So, aside from that infamous military dictator and criminal of Kanuri ethnic origin (Sani Abacha) who in the 1990s blatantly STOLE over 4 billion USD of Nigeria's money through the Central Bank of Nigeria into offshore accounts (which foreign governments have been returning gradually to Nigeria after lawyers collect their own cuts), the Kanuris I've personally known since the 1980s are highly educated, largely warm and do things for the benefit of all.
The Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum (SKJF) has lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of a Federal University of Applied Sciences and a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Southern Kaduna.
In a statement issued yesterday, SKJF chairman Ango Bally praised the collaborative efforts of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Marshall Katung, and member representing Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Amos Magaji.
The forum credited their legislative and administrative synergy for securing the approval of the two landmark projects.
“The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, sponsored by Senator Katung, and the Federal Medical Centre, initiated by Hon. Magaji, represent transformative milestones for the socio-economic and educational development of Southern Kaduna,” Bally said.
The university, which will include an additional campus in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area, is expected to provide quality education, technical expertise, and foster innovation in the region.
“The establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, will significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Southern Kaduna and surrounding areas,” Bally added.
The SKJF applauded the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu and expressed gratitude to Vice President Kashim Shettima, who announced the presidential assent during a condolence visit to Southern Kaduna on December 28, 2024.
Shettima assured the region of continued federal collaboration with the state government to improve road infrastructure and other developmental projects.
The forum emphasized the importance of unity among political leaders, commending Governor Sani, Senator Katung, and Hon. Magaji for prioritizing the interests of the people over partisan differences.
“As custodians of information and public opinion, we pledge to support initiatives that promote peace, unity, and development in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Nigeria at large,” the SKJF statement said.
SportsRe: From Riches To Bankruptcy: Footballers Who Lost It All by Konquest: 3:59pm On Jan 18, 2025
Akinpedia:
The glamorous world of professional football often paints a picture of immense wealth and luxury.
However, the reality for many players is a stark contrast, with financial mismanagement, extravagant lifestyles, and unforeseen circumstances leading to devastating financial ruin.
This thread explores the unfortunate cases of several high-profile footballers who, despite earning millions, found themselves facing bankruptcy and financial hardship.
Ronaldinho Gaúcho: The Brazilian magician, once a global icon, was shockingly found to have only €5 in his bank account in 2020. He was even arrested and detained for entering Paraguay with a fake passport. This incident highlighted a pattern of financial mismanagement and alleged fraud.
Taribo West: The flamboyant Nigerian defender, known for his eccentric hairstyles, amassed considerable wealth during his career with top European clubs. However, he reportedly lost millions through ill-advised investments and extravagant spending. He has since embraced a new life as a pastor.
Celestine Babayaro: The former Chelsea and Newcastle left-back faced severe financial difficulties in 2011, with creditors relentlessly pursuing him for unpaid debts. This situation serves as a stark reminder of the precarious financial situations many footballers face after retirement.
Eric Djemba Djemba: The former Manchester United midfielder declared bankruptcy in 2007. Despite earning significant sums, he struggled to manage his finances, with numerous loans and extravagant spending draining his resources.
John Arne Riise: The Norwegian full-back, known for his powerful left foot, also faced bankruptcy in 2007 due to failed business ventures, including a hotel. This highlights the risks associated with diversifying investments outside of football.
Diego Maradona: The legendary Argentine, arguably one of the greatest footballers of all time, faced bankruptcy in 2009 due to significant unpaid taxes from his time at Napoli. This case underscores the importance of sound financial planning and tax management.
David James: The former England goalkeeper experienced a dramatic fall from grace, losing much of his fortune after a divorce. He was forced to auction off personal belongings to make ends meet, a humbling experience for a player who once enjoyed a life of luxury.
Royston Drenthe: The former Real Madrid winger filed for bankruptcy in 2022, revealing staggering losses of over £3.2 million. His story serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of impulsive spending and poor financial decisions.
Asamoah Gyan: The Ghanaian striker, once one of Africa's highest-paid footballers, declared he had only £600 in his bank account during a divorce proceeding. He also faced challenges due to assets being held in his brother's name, complicating the financial settlement.
Emmanuel Eboue: The former Arsenal and Galatasaray defender suffered a tragic fall from grace. He lost all his assets to his wife after a divorce, as he unknowingly signed documents that transferred ownership to her. This heartbreaking case highlights the importance of legal and financial counsel when navigating personal and marital matters.
Lessons to be Learned:
These cases underscore the importance of:
Financial education and literacy: Players need access to quality financial advice and education to make informed decisions about their earnings.
Sound financial planning and management: Diversification of investments, prudent spending habits, and tax planning are crucial for long-term financial security.
Professional financial guidance: Engaging with qualified financial advisors can help players navigate complex financial situations and make informed investment decisions.
Protecting assets and income: Players should ensure their assets are properly protected and that they have adequate insurance coverage.
While these cases highlight the unfortunate realities faced by some footballers, they also serve as valuable lessons for aspiring and current players.
By prioritizing financial education and making informed decisions, players can safeguard their future and avoid the pitfalls that have led to financial ruin for others.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Has Joined BRICS As Partner Country by Konquest: 3:21pm On Jan 18, 2025
Topman7:
Nigeria's acceptance as a BRICS partner country offers several potential benefits:
1. Economic Cooperation: Partnering with BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—can enhance Nigeria's trade relations, opening new markets for exports and attracting investments.
2. Currency Flexibility: Engaging with BRICS may allow Nigeria to conduct trade in local currencies, reducing dependence on the US dollar and mitigating exchange rate volatility.
3. Infrastructure Development: Collaboration with BRICS' New Development Bank could provide Nigeria with access to funding for critical infrastructure projects, fostering economic growth.
4. Global Influence: As a BRICS partner, Nigeria can participate in shaping policies that reflect the interests of developing nations, enhancing its diplomatic standing.
5. Knowledge Exchange: Partnership facilitates sharing of technological innovations and best practices in sectors like agriculture, energy, and education, contributing to Nigeria's development.
While these opportunities are promising, Nigeria must navigate challenges such as aligning its policies with BRICS objectives and ensuring that partnerships yield tangible benefits for its populace.
Start using creatine. Do work out while using it. As little as 20 squats and 20 pushups daily. You will gain muscle not just fat. Before 3 months you'll see the difference.
Creatine Monohydrate intake should NOT be too much because it damages the kidneys leading to kidney failure. Some stubborn sportsmen (rugby players, American football players, pro-body builders, etc) who wanted faster muscle bulking results have paid the heavy price as a result of kidney damage. So, a standard intake of Creatine, Whey Protein, lean meat, and Omega 3 intake with resistance exercises (those standard squats and push-ups you recommend) will do the bulking especially for hard gainers within the required time frame.
Science/TechnologyRe: Meet Silas Adekunle, World’s Highest Paid Robotics Engineer’s Brainchild, Awarri by Konquest: 3:00pm On Jan 18, 2025
Great100000:
Silas Adekunle is the co-founder of Awarri, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) research lab startup. Alongside his partner, Eniola Edun, Adekunle established Awarri to ensure Africans have representation in the rapidly evolving field of AI.
Awarri was born out of the need to democratise access to AI and robotics technology across the continent. The startup uses MekaMon, an innovative gaming robot, as a tool to inspire young tech enthusiasts and spark interest in STEM fields.
MekaMon is a four-legged robot that moves like a real creature, bringing video games to life through robotics and augmented reality. An app developed alongside MekaMon allowed users to control the robot and enjoy an even richer gaming experience.
Last year, Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Communication, and Digital Economy, announced a partnership with Awarri to build Nigeria’s own large language model (LLM).
“Awarri, along with nonprofit Data.org and two government bodies, will build an LLM trained in five low-resource languages and accented English,” the minister stated.
Before founding Awarri, Adekunle and Edun were more prominent in the gaming industry. Edun had launched Gamr Africa, a startup aimed at advancing gaming culture in Lagos, while Adekunle gained international recognition through Reach Robotics. Reach Robotics achieved a major milestone when it signed a deal with Apple for the distribution of MekaMon.
Awarri later acquired the rights to MekaMon, integrating the robot into Nigerian schools to teach children computer science and coding skills. “MekaMon has been a powerful tool in introducing students to technology in a hands-on and engaging way,” Edun noted.
Continuing its mission of fostering AI talent, Awarri launched a data annotation lab in Ikorodu, Lagos, in November 2023. The lab is designed to serve as an AI talent development hub, particularly for the densely populated suburban area.
In the same year, it launched LangEasy, a platform that allows anyone with a smartphone to help train the model through voice and text inputs. LangEasy gives users sentences to read aloud and asks them to save the audio on the app. The app will help crowdsource data for Awarri’s LLM.
