Greeting all hope you week is going well...at least you've made it past Monday... grin

So I wanted to share my joy with you guys and also get you opinions. I went on a website called africanancestry.com and paid for a maternal dna test. Basically what they do is trace your roots back until they find a 100 percent match ( if there is one to be found).
I waited for this test for two months and when I finally got it back I jumped for joy! The results could have come back indian or something but lucky for me my family stayed in the heart of slavery and currently are in the same area. My results traced back to the hausa and yoruba tribe or present day nigeria. I wondered how could I be both so I asked those who sent me the kit. They stated that one of my grandparent was hausa and one was yoruba...wow! grin
So how do you guys feel about Black Americans tracing their roots and could we be accepted as who we really are? I tell everyone I'm Nigerian now because I am, and damn proud of it! grin
I now desire to learn yoruba because for some reason I feel closes to them, it could be because I look so much like them..idk...but yeah what do you think?

No jokes about how I'm standing, I really liked the face in this pic so..it's a keeper.. grin
Bump.

Is this NOT another resurgence of the notorious Ijaw bandits who thrived in the creeks of Arepo, Ikorodu, and in the stretch of Lagos, Ogun to Ondo creeks and waterways during the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency (engaging in vicious armed robberies in Arepo, the elite Isheri North estates while gang raping women, murdering, kidnapping, stealing petrol from System 2B pipeline, etc) but finally got flushed out through massive Nigerian Air Force airstrikes in 2016 during President Buhari's tenure?

Another Operation Awatse is gonna be needed here if my guess is accurate.

They don’t know the plays yet and need to be reorientated.

You can make it big from the prison system if you smart and know when to quit.

Drugs and mobile phones are hot cakes that can quickly get you rich. Make the money from the system and leave the country before you get bursted.
That's NOT allowed in any UK or American Correction Center. If a prison officer is caught smuggling drugs, mobile phones, food, or having sex with a male or female inmate, they get promptly FIRED! Besides there are CCTV cameras around. You should read a lot more about the male and female correctional officers who got dismissed in the past, then you'll know that ANY person of Nigerian descent who is fortunate to get employed there but violates the code would be disgraces, dismissed and charged to court. Period.

I met a Doctor in Lagos last year, who told me he has been living with a tumor in his brain. He's almost removing it when another senior surgeon warned against it. He said 20 years after, he's still alive with same tumor well managed.

I agree on second opinion
@davodyguy

Indeed, as long as it's a BENIGN brain tumor as of 2004 till now, then it's absolutely better to leave it as is, so as NOT to complicate issues through surgery.

I don't mean to use a broad stroke to tar all of them, but some medical folks can unintentionally put you in danger with wrong advice due to fatigue or lack of retraining on the current trends in the medical field. There's a gentleman (Dr. Ikudayisi is his name) based in Florida who has also introduced the use of adult stem cell therapy (regenerative medicine) back in Lagos, Nigeria, so, things are panning out right in the medical field on the Motherland as well.

PoliticsRe: Abuja-kaduna-kano Road To Be Completed In 14 Months – FG by Konquest: 3:54pm On Jan 17, 2025
TimeManager:

“The President has given a matching order, and the National Assembly is also given them the necessary cooperation and there will be no issues.

“Within 14 months, we are going to have a brand new road from Abuja end to Kano,” Idris said.

Meanwhile, Umahi explained that there was an extension of the road to Aminu Kano International Airport and another five-kilometre extension on the Abuja-Lokoja end of the road.

According to Umahi, Section 1 of the road starts at Zuba Junction, Zuba Interchange and terminates at Kaduna Western Bypass in Kaduna.

He said that the road, which will have solar lights, would last between 50 and 100 years

“Note that the existing pavement between Abuja to Kaduna has undergone different levels of deterioration over the years.

“This has caused failure due to alligator cracks, corrugation, shoving, underground pumping, rutting, ravelling, potholes and poor drainage.

“The ministry quickly intervened by commencing emergency repairs on this stretch in order to ameliorate the suffering of the road users.

“The maintenance work is in progress in four different stretches simultaneously in order to fast-track the repair works,” Umahi said.

Explaining why the contract for section was revoked from Julius Berger, minister of works Senator David Umahi, said Julius Berger Plc drastically reduced the pace of work on site and wrote a letter to the Federal Ministry of Works requesting for a review from N797bn to N1.5trn representing an increase of 88.21%.

An amount the federal government was not willing to pay.

He said after so much back and forth a Selective tendering process was used in which six contractors including Julius Berger Plc were invited to tender.

According to him, the six contractors are as follows: M/s Julius Berger Nig. Plc, M/s Hitech Construction Company Limited, M/s Infouest Nigeria Limited, M/s CBC Nigeria Limited, M/s CCECC Nigeria Limited and M/s CGC Nigeria Limited.

https://www.channelstv.com/2025/01/17/abuja-kaduna-kano-road-ready-in-14-months-fg/
Just pray that Julius Berger doesn't sue the FG for contract termination. I remember when the Ogun State Government during the time of Gbenga Daniel wanted to fix bad sections of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway at Sango Ota because Julius Berger had totally stopped work on the major road, JB threatened to sue Ogun State in court if they went ahead. Yar Adua was the President and because of his illness, approvals were NOT being made for the funding of the reconstruction of strategic roads.

Till date, there is a section of that Expressway from Sango Ota that hasn't been completed or has NO drainages which have been featured many times in online videos since former President Obasanjo started the dualization of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. Multiple contractors should always be hired to speed up work on Expressways such as the Lagos-Ogun Expressway just as you have 6 contractors handling different sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road to be completed in 14 months.

It took Babatunde Fasola and PMB to further release money to Julius Berger and a lot of work was done on the road, yet information online still shows that the drainages haven't been completed by JB at Sango Ota since the time that OBJ left the Presidency. During the heavy rain falls, the lack of drainages usually leads to further flooding and damage on that Expressway which is a major route that international visitors take to get to tourist sites in Abeokuta.

A lot of these African countries with in-demand mineral resources such as gold, tantalize, diamonds, and more haven't learned enough lessons yet!

Instead of having gold beneficiation facilities set up in their countries to ensure that refined gold bars are produced for storage in their central bank vaults for the benefit of their citizens and economies, they stupidly allow these raw gold to get smuggled out. They have to wake up!
InvestmentRe: How Illegally SMUGGLED GOLD Is Fueling The U.S. Gold Boom by Konquest(op): 2:21pm On Jan 17, 2025
Tens of billions of dollars of gold are illegally smuggled out of Africa each year. Ghana, one of the world's top gold producers, has seen the impact of that illegal mining. While the vast majority of world’s gold comes from large mining companies like Newmont, Barrick Gold and Agnico Eagle, gold is also a source of income for millions of small artisanal miners, a source of revenue for many African governments and the cause of human rights violations and environmental degradation.

And gold prices are surging. In January 2024, spot gold rose to more than $2,600 an ounce. U.S. gold futures have seen similar levels. One reason for that growth, in difficult economic and geopolitical times, investors bet on gold for its ability to store value. So what do investors need to know about how gold is sourced, and will the price continue to soar? NBC's Zinhle Essamuah traveled to Ghana to find out what impact illegal mining is having in Africa and the global gold trade.

Is this not the Space X craft that is scheduled to bring back the two Americans still stranded in outer space?

It's an emergency and they gave us December, 2025 date.

My goodness! December 2025 for a medical emergency? That's a dysfunctional NHS system. I'll have to make this a talking point this weekend with my younger brother who lives in England with his fam.

I wish your relative a quick recovery... But read on till the end to gain some further insights

To be honest, with advancements in the field of medicine right now in the area of stem cell therapy or regenerative medicine and more, people simply have to find ways of getting first, second, and third opinions in the medical field in treating themselves and close relatives. The famous American public speaker and writer Anthony Robins (who stands tall at 6 foot 7) talked about a very painful medical condition that occured when he had a very bad fall while skiing in Europe. The shoulder pain was very severe for weeks whenever he tried to move his arms, so, he met different American doctors who said he had to go for a major surgery which would have led to him being off the international public-speaking circuit for over 6 months while taking a bed rest from the surgery.

Fortunately, Anthony came across another doctor and scientist who said Anthony didn't require ANY major disruptive surgery. He was recommended to visit the "Panama Stem Cell Institute" in Panama where he got placental stem cells injected into the extremely painful shoulder and within just 2 days, the pain had stopped! Even the lower back pain that Anthony Robins had earlier for over 10 years also miraculously disappeared within those 2 days and NEVER returned. A visit to his cardio specialist also showed he was performing more optimally and he was estimated to be 10 years younger than his age. I intuitively sensed that sense of medical urgency in your post and this is why I'm sharing these profound medical insights with you. The use of placental stem cells for treatments of ailments such as cancer, neurological disorders, extreme pains, and more is already redefining modern, cutting-edge medicine. All these and more are contained in Anthony's massive book of over 800 pages entitled "Life Force" which I have read, but haven't finished yet. The first 100 pages of Anthony's book where fantastic to read.

As I type this, MOST orthodox medical professionals worldwide are NOT fully trained or aware about current trends in medicine so they have to be retrained. This is why when you go from one doctor to another, they give different opinions and results. So, it's important that you do your due diligence by getting first, second, and third opinions from medical experts.

Enjoy your day.

Ciao.

Very impressive.

Maintenance culture by facilities managers for these train projects must be maintained.

One thing I've always admired Lagos State for is that right from 1999 till date, ALL the Lagos State Governors have always been technocrats who are well-traveled with vast work experiences and great education. Former Governor Bola Tinubu who is a chartered accountant was a senior technocrat who rose to become the Treasurer at Mobil Nigeria Lagos HQ (now ExxonMobil), Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu worked in investment banking and also rose to the senior position of a bank Treasurer before becoming the FIRST boss of the successful Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and also a Commissioner.
The Governors have always followed the laid down developmental master plans of Lagos State brick-by-brick leading to the emergence of iconic projects such as the Lekki Deep Seaport in Ibeju-Lekki , Lekki Free Trade Zone in Ibeju-Lekki, the emergence of Dangote Petrochemical Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki which was originally planned for Ondo State by Aliko Dangote, the legacy rail transportation networks, etc, to decongest the roads. It's NOT been a one-time transformation but a gradual one. There's more to be done especially with managing the influx of population from other states and other countries into Lagos State leading to overpopulation and the stretching of facilities in some places.

The MAJOR gift that the current President of Nigeria (who was the first Governor of Lagos State after full democracy was restored in 1999) can rapidly give to Nigeria is to make sure that there is more devolution of powers to the 36 states in order to remove all the inefficiencies in the ecosystem and ensure that people don't have to migrate from their states of origin to Lagos, Ogun, Kano, Rivers, and Abuja in order to live or earn a better life. Vast opportunities exist in each state of Nigeria for their indigenes to thrive and sell semi-processed and processed agri-produce to other Nigerian states and for export. With maximum security against those illegal gun-wielding foreign Fulani herdsmen and other local and foreign bandits in full swing, Benue State, Zamfara, Southern Kaduna, Plateau State, Taraba, Katsina, Borno, Kwara, Ebonyi and Niger States for instance have absolutely NO business with poverty and being regarded as underachieving states.

Bigboytinz:
UK patients are “coming to harm” with hospitals so overwhelmed people are dying in corridors awaiting treatment amid a “collapse in care standards”, a report said Thursday.

In the latest indictment of Britain’s beleaguered state-funded National Health Service, nine in 10 NHS nurses surveyed by the country’s nurses union said, “patient safety is being compromised.:

Nearly seven in 10 (66.8 per cent) said they were delivering care in “overcrowded or unsuitable places” on a “daily basis”, including in corridors, converted cupboards, car parks, and even bereavement rooms.

“The experiences of over 5,000 nursing staff across the UK highlight a devastating collapse in care standards, with patients routinely coming to harm,” said the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).

The report condemned the “normalisation” of so-called “corridor care”, with nurses unable to access life-saving equipment in cramped spaces.

One nurse in East England said corridor care in their hospital trust was “not an exception, it’s the rule”.

Last month, some 54,000 patients in emergency departments in England had to wait over 12 hours until a hospital bed was available, up 23 percent from December 2023.

The report is a result of a Royal College of Nursing request at the end of December, asking members to fill out a short survey.

The report includes “the raw, unedited and often heart-breaking comments” of the thousands of nursing staff working across the UK who responded, the RCN said.

The report comes as NHS figures released separately Thursday revealed that last week was the busiest yet for the health service this winter, with hospitals “jam-packed” with patients.

Some 96 percent of all hospital beds were full, said Julian Redhead, NHS national clinical director for urgent and emergency care, warning that despite a drop in flu numbers “winter viruses are much higher than usual for this time of year”.

The RCN report included testimonies from nurses treating up to 40 patients waiting in a corridor, as well as reports of pregnant women miscarrying in corridors.

Some said the overcrowding in corridors impeded them from giving life-saving resuscitation (CPR). One nurse recalled a patient dying after a cardiac arrest “by the male toilet”.

Another alleged having to treat cardiac arrests “with no crash bell, crash trolley, oxygen, defibrillator… straddling a patient doing CPR while everyone watches on”.

“This devastating testimony from frontline nursing staff shows patients are coming to harm every day”, said RCN General Secretary Nicola Ranger.

“Vulnerable people are being stripped of their dignity and nursing staff are being denied access to vital lifesaving equipment. We can now categorically say patients are dying in this situation,” Ranger added.

In June 2024, the RCN declared a “national emergency” over hospital overcrowding and care being delivered in unsuitable places.

Health Foundation charity’s assistant director of policy Tim Gardner said record delays in emergency care “were a rarity before the pandemic, but are now the worst we have seen since records began in 2011”.

There are some 7.5 million people on the NHS waiting list, with more than three million having faced delays longer than 18 weeks for treatment.

Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was elected in July on a ticket that included fixing the NHS, rolled out a plan at the start of the year which included expanding community health centres to reduce pressure on hospitals.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting on Wednesday said corridor care was “unsafe” and “undignified” but it would “take time to undo the damage” to the NHS.

We finally took the case to court, and we noticed that the same land grabber is clamming that they bought the land from the same person that sold the land to our father, although we have witness which are the children of the man that sold the land to our late father and other people that bought the land together with my father.

Now, in court the defence team is claiming that we abandoned the land for more than 15 years, that is why they are laying claim to the land.

Is there any law in Nigerian that said you can claim a land that is inhabited in the bush and it becomes yours ?

Note: the said land is in the bush and no developments is there presently and the land grabber only put pillars on the land.

Secondly, should in case we win the case, can I claim damages for trespassing in to our land and wasting our time and resources on court case.

The land is in our rural town.
