Whoa! The post you responded to is one of the MOST ridiculous things ever spewed by a Homo sapien in recent times.
A subset of these weird posters are indeed [with roots from Nigeria] incels, some Muslims who resent America for what is going on in Palestine, and the other set get their warped stories about the U.S. Presidential elections from propaganda secessionist websites that constantly push out unverified, fake news to their gullible readers who then further propagate these warped, defamatory stories about the Dems in favor of the "Rethugs." A credible FACT-CHECK website located in Accra, Ghana also exposed some of the online secessionist sources of these fake news with links to the East of Nigeria and Finland.
1stGenAmerican: Very exhausting. After all the trouble he has been through and has looming on the horizon, he should now realize that he isn’t above the law. The man has a skull made from Dangote cement, things that penetrate into normal brains don’t sink into his. The ending stages of his downfall will be epic.
The other artists that he’s ignoring the rights of will follow in the footsteps of the Hayes’, soon the entire music industry (the few who are still for him) will be dead set against him.
The BOLDED right above cracked me up right here... "Dangote cement skull" You sure have some red-hot, kickass adjectives for this man called Trump. Tbh, watching him ramble on with his misogynistic rants and more can be very "enervating" and It was unwise for RFK Jr to have endorsed Trump with all the weird things we've seen him do lately while looking unpresidential.
Another Donald Trump Presidency would be bad for the United States and the world at large in terms of PR. I can't wait for November 2024 to be over so that we can all have some certainty about where our world is headed.
It's great that the 2024 DNC went well with a lot of fired-up folks commending Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and others for giving resounding speeches (I posted a CNN video on the American Presidential elections thread showing some "undecided" voters in Pennsylvania who gave their pledge to vote for Kamala Harris after the 2024 DNC ended). Kamala was truly presidential in her speech.
In the 2024 DNC states' roll call, the Democrats abroad, Iowa, Indiana and others took us back to the evergreen 1970s and early 1980s with the iconic "Soul Train" hit songs of the O'Jays, Kool and the Gang, MJ, and more. The 2024 DNC was indeed a stratospheric event.

Gistmedia10: A symbol of wealth in the 80s and 90s… This was the typical setup of a wealthy man's living room.
My jaw nearly hit the floor! I didn't intend to post anything on this thread until I saw the massive historical errors in your post.
I have to CORRECT you here on your very misleading post so as to prevent others from following your WRONG account of history. The picture you attached to your post is NOT the TYPICAL setup of a "wealthy man's living room in the 1980s or even the 1990."
For your information, wealthy people in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s either in Nigeria and around the world lived a life of luxury [with pure leather seats, aquariums, marble flooring, silk throw pillows, antique furniture, real wall paintings bought from exhibitions, chandeliers in the dining and all rooms, Persian rugs, well-stocked home libraries with volumes of the iconic Encyclopedia Britannica, etc] NOT this LOWER-INCOME living room setup you posted here. I say this as a man who is a Gen X, who was alive in those decades you mentioned (the 1980s and the 1990s).
Some of you younger ones erroneously think the upscale life we have right now started when you were born 25 years ago or during the social media age or something... That's NOT the case. It's been on at least since the modern Victorian era of the 1800s among the wealthy and upper-class.
Morbeta11: This is precious’ – Botswana president Masisi on discovery of world’s second largest diamond
Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi looks at a large diamond discovered in Botswana at his office in Gaborone on August 22, 2024. – The 2492 carat diamond was discovered in the Karowe mine in Botswana of Lucara Diamond Company. A massive 2,492-carat diamond — the second largest in the world — has been discovered in Botswana, the Canadian mining company that found the stone announced Thursday.
The diamond was discovered in the Karowe diamond mine in northeastern Botswana using X-ray detection technology, Lucara Diamond said in a statement.
Lucara did not provide an estimation of the value of the find. In terms of carats, the stone is second only to the 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond discovered in South Africa in 1905.
“We are ecstatic about the recovery of this extraordinary 2,492-carat diamond,” Lucara president William Lamb said in the statement.
This find was “one of the largest rough diamonds ever unearthed” and detected using the company’s Mega Diamond Recovery X-ray technology installed in 2017 to identify and preserve large, high-value diamonds, the statement said.
The managing director of Lucara Botswana, Naseem Lahri, presented the translucent stone, which is the size of a palm, to President Mokgweetsi Masisi at his office later Thursday.
“I’m told this is the largest diamond to be discovered in Botswana to date and the second in the world,” Masisi said, congratulating the company on the find. “This is precious.”
Botswana is one of the world’s largest producers of diamonds which are its main source of income, accounting for 30 percent of GDP and 80 percent of its exports, according to International Monetary Fund figures.
The arid and sparsely populated country, home to around 2.5 million people, was poor at the time of its independence from Britain in 1966.
Diamonds were discovered a year later and today the country is the world’s largest producer by value, the IMF says.
Lucara says it pays a royalty of 10 percent of the gross sales value of diamonds produced from Karowe to the government, regardless of whether the diamond is sold rough or polished.
“With a diamond of this magnitude, I can see roads being built,” said Masisi, as he posed for pictures with the huge stone.
– ‘Will likely see more’ Tobias Kormind, managing director of Europe’s largest online diamond jeweller, 77 Diamonds, confirmed it was the largest rough diamond to be unearthed since the Cullinan Diamond, parts of which adorn Britain’s crown jewels.
“This discovery is largely thanks to newer technology that allows larger diamonds to be extracted from the ground without breaking into pieces. So we will likely see more where this came from,” he said.
Before the find was announced on Thursday, the largest diamond discovered in Botswana was a 1,758-carat stone mined by Lucara at the Karowe mine in 2019 and named Sewelo.
Lucara found a 1,174-carat diamond stone in Botswana in 2021 using the same X-ray technology.
The mine started production in 2012 and has since then sold 216 diamonds for more than $1 million each and more than 11 single diamonds for more than $10 million each, it says.
The diamond mining industry has been hurt by lab-grown versions and weaker spending.
“Diamond prices are going through a difficult time now,” Masisi said.
“But every diamond is precious and valuable. We have to optimise and get the best price for this diamond.”
Value addition to rough diamonds to produce polished diamonds is key to retaining the vast income from these precious solid minerals and not just unbridled export.
It actually happend about 10 years ago but the memories will live with me forever . Although I have not talked about it on social media but I feel like telling the story so that people will learn. It's a long story but I'll make it brief.
I was cohabiting with my girl back in the Uni, we have been like that for a few years , but then one day I came back to my lodge late in the night because I watched a football game on my way back from school. I opened my door and met my girl on the floor. She was motionless and her eyes were wide open, I checked her pulse but I couldn't feel anything. Her teeth and her palms were clenched tight. I panicked and just froze at the spot not knowing what to do. I then called a few people in the lodge and alerted them about what was happening but before I knew it , the whole lodge people have gathered in my room and outside the door.
Nobody could tell what must have happend to her. We thought about rushing her to hospital but the school clinic is closed and there are no good hospitals in the area because the school is in a remote location, and it was almost midnight at the time. Some people did different type of first aid on her , trying to see if they can revive her but after few hours there still wasn't any sign of life. People started suspecting that she might be dead and started taking somethings from their rooms and leaving the lodge immediately. Out of the 30 occupants of the lodge only one person (student pastor) remained with me. The rest ran away from the lodge ,even my best friend .🙁
The student pastor prayed and prayed to see if she will come back to life but nothing happend , at about 4am the Pastor told me that he has done everything he can and that it's in the hands of God now. He then went to his room. It was just the two of us left in the building.
I sat down in my room, I didn't know what to do, I couldn't cry , I thought about how I was going to be arrested and charged for murder when in truth I'm innocent, which nobody will believe because of nigeria justice system. I thought about my parents , how they sacrificed to send me to school not knowing I was cohabiting with a girl . At some point I thought about running away, but that will mean I'm guilty and perhaps how far and how long would I be on the run before I would be caught.
I didn't know who to call , I was just bereft of ideas. I decided I'll submit myself to the police in the morning and explain what happend and possibly face the consequences. As I sat there waiting for day to break, I started scrolling through my phone contacts. Mind you, I believe in God but I'm not a very religious person. I came across one pastor that gave me his phone number a long time ago. I then decided to just try my luck and call him. I called him and he picked up the call immediately as if he was waiting for the call. I wanted to tell him what's happening, but he cut me short and told me he already knows. That he was disturbed in the spirit and God revealed it to him so he started praying but he didn't know it was for my situation he was praying for at that time.
He told me I should not be afraid , that everything will be fine. He asked me if I have any sachet water around , I looked around and got a sachet water . He then asked me to put the phone ontop of the water so her can pray in it. I did as he asked. After praying , he then asked me to try and force open her mouth anyway I can pour some water inside ,then sprinkled the rest all over her body.
I did everything he instructed. He then told me that everything will be alright and ended the call. By then it was almost 6am in the morning. I just sat there starring at her , then I saw her hand move a little bit, I cleaned my eyes and got closer to her so as to be sure my eyes were not deceiving me. Her hand moved again , then her legs . Before I knew it she opened her eyes and sat up. I couldn't believe my eyes, I was in shock and was wondering if I'm imagining the whole thing.
Then she spoke and asked me what's happening, and why is her body wet with water . I rushed out and called the student pastor who came running in to witness the first miracle of my life. He was singing praises to God. I knelt down and prayed to God and thanked him for the first time in a very long time . I made her a cup of tea after which she has a shower.
At about 7am in the morning, none of my lodgemates have returned . I looked outside the gate from my room and saw some of them with other people gathered in small groups whispering, waiting to get the full gist of how my girl died in my room .
I called my bike guy to come to the lodge because I want to take her to the hospital for checkup, I then came down to the gate with my girlfriend. As they saw her , they opened their mouth with shock and we're too surprised to talk.
To cut the whole story short . I learnt some valuable lessons . Cohabiting with anybody you are not married is very risky, you wouldn't know the risk until something happens to him or her. The second lesson I learnt was that, when you get in trouble that's when you will know that you are alone, people will run away from you.
Anyways , we continued dating, but I rented an apartment for her so stay separately. I also stopped her from sleeping in my place. Untill we eventually parted ways after I graduated.
Akanabaa: The cyber w@r between Nigerians and South Africans has taken another dimension, as Nigerian booked over 40 bolt drivers, and they all arrived at the same spot.
naptu2: The road has been in a terrible state since the early 2000s. Successive federal administrations have promised to do something about it, but nothing has been done (it is a federal road).
The Ogun State Government applied to take over the road during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. They said that they would partner with the Lagos State Government to fix it. Approval was eventually granted and work has now commenced.
Odua4life: Lanre Shittu Motors, an Indigenous automaker, has unveiled a locally assembled 100 percent compressed natural gas-powered buses in Nigeria.
The company also says it is willing to support those buying a large fleet including state governments with the installation of mobile CNG stations across different locations.
Taiwo Shittu, managing director of Lanre Shittu Motors, told journalists in Lagos on Monday, that the CNG vehicles are being assembled at the Amuwo Odofin assembly plant in Lagos.
He said 100 units of the buses coming in two specifications would be introduced in the first phase to support President Bola Tinubu’s CNG initiative of easing public transportation and cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
On his part, Joseph Osanipin, director general of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, expressed delight with the initiative.
He said buyers don’t need to bother about the cost of conversion because the vehicles are already factory-fitted.
“Those that need 100 percent CNG buses are mainly the commercial transporters. We at the NADDC are working with LSM to test-run it. LSM will provide the expertise while Pi-CNG (Presidential CNG Initiative) will provide the necessary support and NADDC will ensure the training of people that will handle it,” he said.
On the new CNG vehicles, the LSM boss said while the first bus, a 31-seater, would be deployed for the intra-airport shuttle, the second spec, a 54-seater also accommodating 25 persons standing, would serve as a mass transit city bus.
“We are the first to have full CNG vehicles for sale, others are converted engines or hybrid. Any state that is really interested in saving costs should be talking to us. We have two specifications, one for airport shuttle, and the other for mass transit city bus,” he explained.
Taiwo Shittu also said the city bus was built with seven cylinders and could travel for 450-500 kilometres before recharge.
According to him, the airport bus, also built with seven CNG cylinders, has a lot of space for boxes and two wheelchairs like the city bus.
“They all have charging stations. While on the move, you can charge your phones. The bus is air-conditioned, durable and installed with viewing screens,” he added.
He said that the LSM-branded CNG bus would guarantee a complete 70 percent reduction in operation costs.
“For instance, while the CNG costs N200-N230/kg, diesel is sold from N1,200 to N1,400/litre, depending on the state you are buying from.
“While some drivers have the habit of siphoning fuel from a vehicle for the purposes of selling or using it elsewhere, this cannot happen with CNG. The money saved could be utilised to solve other vital problems including paying workers’ increased salary based on approved new minimum wage.”
Lukman Shittu, deputy managing director of the company, said the company was willing to install mobile CNG stations across different locations, especially for large fleet buyers.
“We can deploy mobile CNG stations across different locations; we can install for people around their locations,” he said.
He explained that the company had also embarked on the training of its workers in the CNG technology using its technical partners.
“We have technical partners. They have trained our workers. We have the expertise; we are going to Ekiti State with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to train people in CNG technology. We are also going to other states.
Odua4life: How Tinubu got money to acquire used jet from Arabs — Aide The Eagle Online Aug 21, 2024 6:15 AM
The Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to the President, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has revealed how the Federal Government raised money to acquire a presidential jet for the use of President Bola Tinubu despite the fact that it was not appropriated for.
The presidential aide was quoted to have made the revelation in an interview he granted BBC Hausa Service, monitored by Vanguard.
The Eagle Online recalls that the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had confirmed the existence of a new presidential jet on Monday when he said that was what Tinubu used for his official trip to France.
Speaking in the interview with BBC Hausa Service on Tuesday as reported by Vanguard News, Abdulaziz said the fund for the purchase of the Airbus A330 was from the Service Wide Vote.
The Eagle Online is reporting that the Service Wide Vote is a part of the yearly budget of the country devoted largely to contingencies.
In some cases, it constitutes more than 5 percent of the annual budget and it is not regularly replenished as statutorily required by law.
Abdulaziz also told BBC Hausa Service that the presidential jet is not a brand new one.
He said it was a fairly used aircraft bought through an auction conducted by a bank, adding that a Saudi Arabia-based company owned it before it was bought by the Federal Government.
The Eagle Online recalls that the National Assembly approved the purchase of the aircraft after the one in use, a Boeing B737-700, had safety record issues and became cost inefficient.
The now 19-year-old Boeing B737-700 was bought during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the new Airbus A330 with an elaborate VIP configuration, is 15 years old.
The aircraft, with registration number: 5N-FGA, was manufactured in September 2009 and delivered in November 2009 with registration number: VP-CAC, to Midroc Aviation, which is based in Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Arabian aviation company operated the aircraft for 12 years before it was acquired by AMAC Aerospace in April 2021.
AMAC Aerospace is a Switzerland-based company, which operated the aircraft for three years before it was acquired by the Nigerian Government and upgraded to its current status.
The deal was reportedly brokered by L & L International LLC, an American aviation firm based in Miami, Florida, United States of America.
The Daily Trust report said the Federal Government of Nigeria paid over $100 million to acquire the new jet.
fergie001: She is the second woman to be sworn-in as CJN
Landmark decisions Kekere-Ekun upturned the decisions of the lower Court and tribunal, thereby preparing and delivering the judgement that sacked Emeka Ihedioha and affirmed Odidika Hope Uzodinma as Governor of Imo State.
She also prepared and delivered the judgement that affirmed Yahaya Bello as Governor of Kogi State following the imbroglio between the APC & Yahaya Bello against James Faleke after the death of Abubakar Audu.
She prepared and delivered the judgement that affirmed ex-Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola against Ademola Adeleke in 2020, citing the absence of the Tribunal chair in one of the sittings.
Kekere-Ekun also prepared and delivered the judgement that affirmed PDP's Nyesom Wike against Dakuku Peterside in 2016, after the tribunal and Appeal Court had nullified Wike's victory and called for a fresh election.
An impressive profile of the new CJN.
She subsequently attended the Nigerian Law School from 1980 to 1981 and was called to the Nigerian Bar on 10th July 1981. From 1981 to 1982, she was engaged in the compulsory NYSC at the Ministry of Justice, Benin City, Bendel State (now Edo State). Afterwards, she proceeded to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where she obtained a master’s degree in law in 1983.
After qualifying as a lawyer and obtaining a Master’s degree in law from LSE, she worked in private law practice for a few years.
That's another great feat right above from among the elite London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prominent lawyers that I know right off the bat who graduated from the elite LSE in London are Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, Wale Tinubu who is the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, and Tunde Folawiyo of Folawiyo Group who was educated at the London School of Economics, where he obtained a B.Sc. degree in economics in 1980, and an LL. B in 1984, etc.

Individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact the nearest police station, the state’s command control number or the FHQ via Pressforabuja@police.gov.ng and other helplines.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians, and it will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace, stability, and the rule of law throughout the country.”
Kidnapping In Benue In the past six years, the federal highway from Otukpo through Ugbokolo in the Okpokwu Local Government Area down to Odoba and Otukpa in Ogbadibu Local Government Area has become one of Nigeria’s dangerous roads to travel due to the notorious kidnap syndicate controlling the thick forests and vast ungoverned spaces.
The deployment of the cheaper non-combat and combat-ready drones to those identifiable notorious areas for aerial surveillance would help to deter and solve cases of kidnappings and armed robberies that can easily lead to the economic collapse of that state or any other state.
folake4u: Actually, Aloma Mariam Mukhtar is the first female Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN). I vividly remember her swearing in ceremony.
@folake4u,
I just logged in again after over 24 hours and saw your mention among others.
Indeed, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is the second female CJN ever. Justice Aloma Mukhtar... That was 12 years ago before you even got to read law in the Uni. I'll bet she's one of those who inspired you from afar to read law right till you graduated from Law School. I actually had no immediate recall of Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar until I saw the feedbacks here. I've attached two videos of the swearing-ins of the two female CJNs right below for historical references.
"Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is now the second Nigeria female jurist to serve as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, after Justice Mariam Mukhtar Aloma, who was the Chief Justice of Nigeria between July 2012 and November 2014."
gideonjeta: Born Efunporoye Osuntinubu Olumosa around 1805 in Ojokodo, Egbaland — Her mother’s name was Njieddee. After her first husband died, leaving her with two sons, she took to business and succeeded before marrying Prince Adele Ajosun In 1833, which resulted in her moving to Agbadarigi (Badagry), Lagos amid claims that she seduces men with charms. Sadly, she lost two sons to malaria while in Badagry — a famed slave port in Nigeria that transported over 550,000 slaves across the Atlantic. While her husband returned home in 1835, she stayed back and prospered through her newfound status. By this time, she dealt in arms, ammunition, tobacco, salt and most importantly, she became a slave trader. After Oba Ajose died, she used her influence to install Oluwole , the Prince as King, despite the circumstances and married her husband’s military strategist, Yesufu Bada .
Slave Trade By this time, Pulse reports that her, “ continued to grow her business and created a monopoly in the palm oil business and in slave trade well. The ammunition she got from selling slaves were used in the Yoruba wars of 1840s and 1850s. Her business acumen in this area made her very rich and powerful. ” Just as this was happening, she established Palm Wine trading routes with Brazil , Portugal and Europe which opened trading opportunities with the British for slaves. Reports however exists that she couldn't distinguish between Nigerian and foreign slaves. Upon the sudden death of her son, Oluwole, she again made her brother-in-law, Akintoye to become King of Lagos to whom she became the close ally. Akintoye in turn rewarded her with an incredible status in real estate and influence for her business. She however contacted trouble when she wanted to stop slave trade after she learned of their torture and sufferings aboard slave ships and in plantations.
Exile and Slavery Abolition In May, 1856, she challenged the power of British Consul, Benjamin Campbell while rooting against the British government and their rule. He retaliated by confronting her with gunboats to exile her from Lagos. Of her later years, she “moved to Abeokuta where she traded in firearms and gunpowder being a major supplier during the war against Dahomey. Through her political influence and power, Madam Efunroye was able to get many traditional rulers including Oba Akintoye to sign documents that ended Africans selling other Africans to the Europeans .” She later also flourished in her coconut oil business, as news of her witchcraft spread far and wide. However, she was named ‘Iyalode of Lagos ’ which roughly translates to, “ Women leader”, an influential post that belonged in the king's inner circle. While rumours swirled that she continued slavery till her death, she died in Abeokuta in 1887. Tinubu square is named after her.

Antoeni: DAAR Communications PLC announced the retirement of members of its Executive Management with effect from October 31, 2024 in compliance with Code of Corporate Governance as well as Company’s Internal Control Policies and Procedures Manual.
A statement signed by the Company Secretary, Miji Jonah, said the affected officials have spent over 10 years in such capacity.
iwaeda: The attention of NNPC Ltd. has been drawn to a press release signed by Mr. Paul Ibe, a Media Adviser to the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
In the statement, the former Vice President was quoted to have lamented “the criminal hijack of the NNPC by corporate cabals around the current President".
He was also quoted to have listed the retention of Mr. Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd as a compensation for the alleged acquisition of NNPC Retail Ltd. by OVH in which he claimed Mr. Wale Tinubu held 49% stake.
He further alleged that the NNPC Retail Ltd—OVH acquisition deal was part of a grand scheme by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to integrate his personal business interests into Nigeria’s public enterprises at the federal level.
NNPC Ltd. wishes to set the records straight with the following facts:
1. We are a commercially-focused and profit-driven company managed by professionals who are committed to adding value to the nation.
2. Investment decisions by NNPC Ltd. Management are strictly determined on the basis of commercial viability and national interest.
3. At the time NNPC Ltd. acquired OVH in 2022, Oando (in which Mr. Wale Tinubu has equity interest), had fully divested its equity in OVH to the other partners – Vitol and Helios. Oando actually began its divestment in 2016, with Vitol and Helios coming in as equity partners, leading to the change of name from Oando to OVH. In 2019, Oando fully divested its equity interest in OVH resulting in Vitol and Helios holding 50% equity interests, respectively.
4.Upon acquisition of OVH by NNPC Ltd, both NNPC Retail Ltd. and OVH effectively became subsidiaries of NNPC Ltd. However, based on professional advice and sound commercial considerations, NNPC Ltd. opted to merge NNPC Retail Limited into OVH, and thereafter retain NNPC Retail Limited as the company name post-merger.
5. The first step of merging NNPC Retail Ltd. into OVH has been completed and the post-merger renaming as NNPC Retail Ltd. is ongoing.
6. Contrary to the false alarm raised, neither Wale Tinubu nor the President has any interest in the OVH acquisition.
7. As a businessman, the former Vice President should know that effectiveness in business leadership is best measured by balance sheets and bottom lines rather than pedestrian considerations.
8. The management of NNPC Ltd., under the leadership of Mr. Mele Kyari, has done very well in growing the company’s fortunes as shown in the 2023 Audited Financial Statement (AFS), where it reported N3.3 trillion as profit after tax.
9. NNPC Ltd. as a commercial entity is devoid of political interest and shall continue to conduct its business full of commitment to national interest and value creation for the benefit of all stakeholders. NNPC Ltd. shall resist any attempt to draw its Board and Management into partisan politics.
Jubril A. Gawat @Mr_JAGs The Lagos State Government keeps the SELF-DEVELOPMENT on a steady. This is a great concept tbh. Kudos to Lagos State.
