Zainab James seeks U.S.-based Abdulateef (Lateef) Quadri.
He's likely of Yoruba descent... Oyo, Osun and Kwara States based off of those I've seen over the decades within and outside Nigeria. Sheriff Quadry of Nigeria Info on Victoria Island has a different spelling for this "Quadri" BUT you can never tell.
I hope she finds her TRUE father if he's still alive because the father-daugher bond is priceless even in adulthood. A proper DNA test can also be done because some women notoriously have multiple make partners they are sexually active with before getting married so her mother could have gotten pregnant for anybody. It is what it is.
judewrites: That girl you call comfort was provoked by a rude, old and bitter air hostess.
I'm not justifying what comfort did, but it's very clear from eye witnesses that the air hostess overstepped her boundaries by her aggression.
What nailed the air hostess was that video that showed her blocking comfort from alighting....
Which professional air hostess does that?
As a frequent flyer myself who is big on aviation safety, I wanted to do my due diligence to avoid all these fake news online from bloggers and posters, so, I watched 4 different credible FULL videos online just 3 days ago of the sequence of events and she ABSOLUTELY wasn't provoked. I will give you more insights right BELOW.
You've ONLY seen one of the videos which shows part of what occured after landing in Lagos which is what a lot of people are being shown for political propaganda purposes or manipulate public opinion because it is a shorter video clip. If you and others get to see the 4 FULL videos I'm talking about which I've already downloaded from IG and YouTube, you will all change your minds about her.
Because of that girl's highly violent actions before takeoff and majorly after landing, the Air Ibom Captain had already contacted the airport security men to come over and deboard (or get that unruly girl off the aircraft) and this was done after all the passengers had disembarked leaving her behind for the security men to come over to deboard her and this is when she slapped that Ibom Air hostess who was standing at the plane entrance in addition to the other crew she had assaulted before.
To be honest, I too was very pissed off at the air hostess' action for backing Comfort Emmanson because she could have been pushed down from the plane if Comfort who I strongly suspect was engaged in illicit substance abuse or had mental health issues (leading to mental confusions) had totally gone bunkers. The entrance door should have been shut for some time after other passengers had left BUT in reality, the relatively slower response of the airport security men also caused that situation to occur otherwise I EXPECTED that the security men should have reached the aircraft as soon as it landed right in Lagos. However, it was the girl's violent resistance to arrest by the aurport security men that led to her top getting torn and her boobs popped right out as seen in the video. She also slapped another elderly woman who came to intervene after being taken off the aircraft and she further kicked and hit the security men while being driven off in the Coaster bus. What she did was a case of physical assault (hitting, kicking, and slapping) which is a standard criminal offence worldwide. Ignorance of the law isn't an excuse.
However, she has to be evaluated to detect if she has been using illicit substances or has mental health issues which can be treated. There are many people walking around as if they are OK and ONLY a small trigger is what is required to bring out that negative energy in them as seen on the Ibom Air and ValueJet incidents.
TimeManager: For further clarification, it is common practice all over the world that a repentant offender is made to preach publicly against the exact conduct from which he has repented. It is akin to Community Service. It is not paid for, and it is a voluntary service.
“Unfortunately, in Nigeria, some would assume that once you hear the word ‘Ambassador’, it is a big position that comes with the perquisites of office.
“No, it is not. It is free. It is not the first time it has happened in Nigeria, and it will not be the last. Examples abound of such roles given to repentant persons by previous governments in Nigeria.”
“Whilst the Aviation agencies are considering using KWAM 1 for such a role, in my discussion last night with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), they are also looking at the option of using Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who has also shown remorse, as their own Ambassador for good passenger conduct.
These unruly passengers aviation incidents and the reactions to them have further emphasized on the FACT that a vast number of Nigerians are annoyingly functional illiterates and semiliterates or just downright mischievous with the intent to spread massive disinformation online. They require further education and continuous education in multiple Nigerian languages tbh.
How does being an aviation Ambassador (which is a voluntary thing done globally as an act of community service) translate to being paid a huge sum of money as salary like I saw in posts online yesterday?
The most important thing to me and every other sane frequent traveler by air is for the respective aviation bodies to URGENTLY ensure that boarding and security protocols are followed to the letter and that the airport security personnel are well equipped with tasers, leg cuffs and hand cuffs after proper advanced retraining on rapid response to emergency situations after being summoned by flight Captains from here on out. Period.
Just as I emphasized in my posts on other threads to this aviation incident as a frequent international flyer myself who has an affinity for in-flight safety as a top-priority, the 3 unruly aviation events which occured within one week were a massive blessing in disguise for Nigeria to upgrade her airports through more funding and retraining her airport security men with tasers, better hand cuffs and leg cuffs to conform with international aviation standards for the immediate restraining of highly unruly passengers while deboarding them. The case of that highly unruly girl on Ibom Air who slapped female crew members, kicked the airport security men and had her cleavages popping out of her torn tops in some of the 4 different FULL videos I've wouldn't have occured.
It could have been WORSE if it was a terror group or lone wolves that got on board. The boarding and security protocols have to be well-thought out from here on out. Period.
I like the FACT that the video report emphasized on the unruly passenger behavior scenes from other countries. A lot of posters online were annoyingly beginning to post disinformation as if it was some kind of Nigerian aviation anomaly, BUT that's NOT the case because globally there are deviants or in reality those who are medically challenged who suddenly develop "mental confusion" while onboard a flight who have to be restrained.
Lifestylecom: Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has clarified that the appointment of Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, as an “ambassador for airport security protocol” will not come with any pay or privileges.
Keyamo, in a post on his X handle, explained that the role is akin to community service, often given to repentant offenders to publicly advocate against the same misconduct they committed.
“It is not paid for, and it is a voluntary service,” the minister said, adding that it is common practice worldwide and has precedent in Nigeria.
The Federal Government had earlier reduced KWAM 1’s indefinite flight ban to one month and withdrawn criminal complaints against him following his public apology over the August 5 incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where he allegedly blocked a moving aircraft and assaulted an airport official.
The decision sparked criticism over perceived double standards, especially as another passenger, Comfort Emmanson, had been detained over “unruly” behaviour on an Ibom Air flight. Emmanson was later released after charges were withdrawn.
It's OBVIOUS to those of us who are well-educated that this community service is what the Ambassadorial role is meant to be, but a vast number of people on the street level are painfully semi-literate or just plain ethnic bigots hence do NOT understand how these things work.
Truly, an illiterate and semi-literate society is a time bomb which mitigates any country's development and the highly embarrassing reactions to Festus's initial comments announcing K1-the Ultimate as an Ambassador for Aviation protocol [which is in infact a "community service"] shows that basic education in all languages MUST be taken as a top priority in Nigeria. Period.
Comfort Emmanson, the viral Ibom Air passenger who recently regained her freedom from Kirikiri Correctional Centre, has received a life-changing offer from Ossai Ovie Success, the Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
In a social media announcement, Ossai pledged to pay Comfort a monthly salary of ₦500,000 and sponsor an all-expenses paid trip as part of his effort to help her start afresh.
The gesture comes shortly after Comfort’s release, which generated widespread attention online. She became the subject of public conversation following the incident that led to her arrest and detention, though details of the case have sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians.
Ossai described his offer as a way to give Comfort a second chance, stating that society should focus on rehabilitation and reintegration rather than prolonged stigmatization.
The announcement has since gone viral, with many praising the Delta State aide for his act of generosity, while others have debated the fairness of such high-profile assistance compared to the struggles of less-publicized cases.
Is this a HUGE joke or some kind of sarcasm from Ossai?
Some men just can't hide their randiness and weakness for some random cleavages. How do you reward a highly unruly female passenger behavior with this as alleged? That girl called Comfort Emmanson physically assaulted and slapped 3 female cabin crew and kicked the airport security men who had been called by the Air Ibom flight Captain to deboard her. I'm certain that this is a fake news but if otherwise, MUST be condemned. Period.
africaBlogworld: From Hillacondji, we rolled smoothly into Togo.
The road was hugging the coastline like it was in love with the Atlantic, and the beaches along the way were so beautiful I almost told the driver to stop so I could “mistakenly” forget myself there.
Togo people like flexing oooo. If you see the number of people that go to the beach at Togo eh, you will marvel.
Smooth transition, no wahala until we got to Aflao Border.
That’s where the atmosphere changed.
The calm breeze of Togo disappeared, and the whole scene switched to action movie mode. Immigration officers were everywhere, documents in hand, queues forming, and people moving like they had personal missions from the United Nations.
We were told to come down from the bus and follow protocols: passport checks, questions, bag inspections.
Somewhere in between all this, my bladder decided it had urgent business. I needed to offload immediately.
At Aflao Border, to use the restroom, you must pay 1 cedi. The problem? I had no cedi yet. That’s when regret hit me like NEPA taking light, I should have changed my money at Hillacondji where it’s cheaper!
But grace came through , the guy manning the restroom let me through without payment. God bless him wherever he is.
Relieved and feeling like a new man, I decided to get a Ghana SIM card. Communication is life, and I needed to call my sister in Ghana to prepare for my arrival and of course let my family back in Port Harcourt know I had “entered the land of gold.”
The Ghana Immigration process? Fast, simple, smooth, and seamless. I had to give them kudos for doing their job like pros. No stress, no unnecessary drama.
By now it was 7:00 PM, and we were finally on the last stretch to Accra. As the bus cruised into the night, I thanked God for the journey so far and started making my calls with my brand-new Ghana SIM especially to my sister, who was going to guide me through my first hours in Ghana.
I had done it. I made it to Ghana.
Stay tuned — the Ghana Chronicles are just beginning.
Picture I took was to remind me of what I saw at Togo. Our mothers are wonderful
YOU write so well and this further affirms that you have a good oral English diction which I'm a stickler for. I can't stand sloppy convos and typographic errors in English (or any other language that I speak as a multilinguist with people who are long-term speakers). However I can tolerate those who are just learning to speak within the last 5 to 10 years.
From Cotonou, our bus was gliding along so smoothly you’d think we were in a presidential convoy. The roads were spotless, the lanes well-marked, and motorcycles even had their own right of way. I couldn’t help but still imagine : Can Nigeria ever be like this?
But as every seasoned traveler knows the closer you get to the next border, the more “vibes and inshallah” takes over.
Soon enough, we were rolling out of Cotonou and passing some toll gates, then onward until the pilot announced:
“We’ll make a short stop at Hillacondji.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but that name Hillacondji alone sounds like a movie character. It was around 5:30pm, and the driver told us to take a little break, stretch our legs, use the toilet, maybe change some currency for the journey ahead.
I didn’t waste time. I jumped down from the bus and headed straight for the first mission: empty the bladder. Thank God I did oh if not, by the time we hit the border, my bladder for don write petition against me.
Mission one complete, I turned to cross the road… and that’s when I saw it: a suya stand that seemed to be whispering my name like an ex trying to come back into my life.
As a certified meat lover, I couldn’t resist. I went straight to cure my “meat konji at Hillacondji” before we crossed the border.
While waiting for my suya to roast to perfection, I also changed some money with the Bureau de Change guys hanging around.
Fun fact — they still accept naira here, so my ₦2000 suya transaction went smoothly.
The suya was too good to keep to myself, so I shared it with a few fellow passengers who had become my border buddies along the way. Meat and travel stress ; that’s a friendship formula right there.
With stomachs satisfied and pockets adjusted for the CFA economy, we re-boarded the bus and headed straight towards the Benin–Togo border… and that’s where the real “Border Chronicles” continued.
Hit the like button to motivate me to continue. Thanks
africaBlogworld: Contrary to social media news, Ghana is peaceful and Nigerians here are good except those who indulge in nefarious activities thereby tainting our image
If you have the funds to finance it, sure why not give it a go. Am rooting for you
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Magnificent Choice Services Project and Engineering Ltd, Jeremiah Akinsele, said the road is still under construction, and it’s reasonable to assume that the necessary infrastructure, including drainage systems, will be put in place before its completion. Given the magnitude of this project, it’s unlikely that the constructors would overlook such a crucial aspect.
He added, “I am confident that the design includes provisions for drainage to effectively manage water flow and prevent potential damage to the infrastructure. The drainage system will likely be designed to channel water into the lagoon or other designated areas, ensuring that the road remains functional and safe for users.
It’s reassuring to know that the relevant authorities are working on this project, and I’m sure they’ll take all necessary measures to ensure its durability and sustainability. With proper planning and execution, this road will be a valuable asset for the community, supporting economic growth and development.”
WizardOfNG: I have repeatedly insisted this is what will happen but some enemies of progress continue to believe Atiku and his gang of born-to-rule Northern supremacists have a chance in the South.
What we see today, as Frank Kokori (RIP) hinted in 2022, was fairly predictable for anyone who knows the character of Tinubu.
I.e his natural bravery , self-confidence and independent-mindedness that means, in power, he will be a champion for Southern leaders by showing them how it is possible to lead progressively for Nigeria via defying the North's natural inclination for backwards, oligarchic and welfarist governance.
It was always obvious Tinubu will become an 'alagbara' to Southern leaders who have always prayed a Southern leader will rise to defy Northerners so that progressive governance, that even the North will benefit from massively, wins.
Tinubu was not President.when he contested in 2023. He will be President in 2027 when he seeks re-election and precisely a President that has shown Southern leader that progressive governance of Nigeria is possible. Southern leader will support Tinubu overwhelmingly in 2027.
DeLaRue: I suspect that all southern Governors will ensure that no Northern presidential candidate gets 25% of the votes in their state in 2027.
If they achieve that, no Northern candidate can become president in 2027, even if that candidate gets 100 million votes in the North.
The Nigerian President Tinubu, his economic team and the Governors and their Commissioners still have to ensure they deliver the key CNG-fuel infrastructure to ALL the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria before 4 years run out and then use that cheaper CNG to massively drive down the cost of living (prices of foods and more) I'm the 36 States of Nigeria.
Second, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his team led by the dynamic Ms. Abisola Olusanya who is the FIRST EVER female Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State will be crashing the price of food items in Lagos State by 50% of the current value soon with the launch of the Phase 1 of the Epe Central Agro Food Hub. Already 150 40 ft CNG haulage trucks have been launched for the "Produce for Lagos" program.
That's the BETTER way to get re-elected by those obviously unhappy masses on the street level due to the EXPECTED consequences or headwinds from the subsidy removal of 2023. The guys in the political space now have ONLY used 2 years and 3 months so they have just 1 year 9 months left to the end of the first-term in office to deliver on cheaper CNG fuel to boost the agribusiness ecosystem, industries, semi-finished exports, infrastructure, advanced and decentralized community and State Policing, and the constitutional amendments.
Diasporans too will start heading back more frequently to the Motherland to invest further triggering a sustainable economic boom.
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State said he is supporting President Bola Tinubu because of the President’s bold steps on the economy and structural reforms.
Soludo made the remarks while speaking to journalists after meeting with President Tinubu on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He urged political parties that identify as progressive to form a broad coalition to advance not only democracy, but also economic and social development in Nigeria.
Soludo stated, “The President is in such high spirits, hale and hearty, and it was such a pleasure to meet with him; it was quite a pleasant meeting.”
Masterstroke4: The Airline's actions are questionable, from restraining the girl to bundling her off the flight.
Why was her top ripped? Why was the video shared? Instead of escalating the situation, the airline should have called a qualified counsellor or management team member to de-escalate the situation and escort her off the plane politely.
The girl's anger and frustration are understandable, and the airline's response is unacceptable.
They have a lot to answer for, and legal action may be warranted.
I watched 4 FULL videos on the Air Ibom flight unruliness by that young female passenger WITHIN the last 48-hours and I can affirm here and NOW that her top WASN'T ripped off! It was while being deboarded that she kept on resisting arrest and turning violently and that led to her light top being torn, revealing her boobs because she had NO bra on. Many of those commenting haven't watched the videos probably because some may NOT have enough funds to buy Internet data or are posting deliberate disinformation out of mischief.
Comfort Emmanson was very violent and was involved in multiple physical assaults. She indeed slapped air hostesses, punched some of the security men called in by the Captain of Ibom Air plane to debord her, then while off the plane she slapped an elderly woman who came to intervene, then continued kicking a male security man in the Coaster bus. These are hallmarks of either someone involved in substances abuse or a medical ailment that leads to mental confusions. All these were captured live on video.
Contrary to what the OP wrote above, her anger released as NEGATIVE energy WASN'T justifiable at ALL knowing FULL WELL that she slapped up to 3 women while also kicking and punching the security men who came to deboard her and those in the bus. That's a case of physical assault which is a serious crime under the law of any decent country!
9jatriot: Kai, once again, the system fails to apply punitive measures because of our culture of begging after the facts. The major beneficiary in all of these is KWAM1, this lady just created the perfect excuse for the government to give him a slap in the wrist. Too many people getaway with a lot of things in this country, that is why we always have the boldness to say "Do you know who I am?"
Now, hope folks can now see why the aviation security guys did not manhandle KWAM1, because the security personnel involved would probably have been secretly sacked, if not today but in the future for very flimsy excuses.
When you reduce the authority of those who have been empowered to act in certain situations by not punishing the offending party, you water down the effectiveness of the systems you put in place. From now on, air hostesses will no longer seriously want to enforce passengers switching off their phones because if they now realize that they get slapped in return, the system will not protect them.
This is one of the reasons police do not arrest some class of people because they know that it would sometimes be them who face the consequences of doing their job whereas the so called big man gets a slap on the wrist or teachers who no longer correct children in school because the big man parent will assault them and nothing will happen.
You made largely valid points in your post BUT it MUST be emphasized that from here on out, ANY unruly passenger will be taken down by MORE efficient airport security men who would have been BETTER trained and equiped with new tasers and better handcuffs to restrain future unruly passengers and prevent the kind of scenarios we saw in several videos of that unruly girl on Ibom Air slapping air hostesses, resisting being deborded by security which led to her cleavages popping out like hot air balloons for the world 🌍 to see.
Therefore, I do NOT see how air hostesses will hesitate to tell passengers to switch their phones off because the rules are NOW gonna be higher with zero tolerance for any unruly passengers or lone wolves.
babablogger: It’s the beginning of a new year. And while we may be making resolutions on new habits we want to acquire and others we want to drop, some of our dreams such as travelling are still very much achievable. To bring your fantasy of wanderlust to reality, what exactly do you have to do you may ask? To give you an idea on how you could get this done, I have put together some ideas that I am certain could work if put to practice. Don’t just read this, start parking and start exploring right away.
(1) Pick a place. Sometimes the problem is we are waiting to be rich enough to travel to the most exotic places all at once, or we have this fantasy of round the world trips all at once. In reality it doesn’t really work that way. Just pick a place, a state you have never been to. Or a nearby country within the continent you have never been to. Start with the ones your country shares a border with. Once you have your mind set on where you want to go that is close and affordable, you are one step closer to meeting your 2018 travel goals.
(2)Get a travel Buddy. Traveling solo has its perks. But for a first time adventurer, you might want to have someone to tag along with. This move has safety and economic advantages. You get to split the bills with someone as well as have someone look out for you as well on your adventure. A travel buddy also makes the trip twice the fun.
(3)Research your destination. It is important for you to research your destination as the first part of planning your trip. Know what transportation options are available, know what the weather is like. Find out what the currency is and where to change if going outside the country. Know about points of interests that deserve a visit.
(4)Use Social Media to find new friends in your destination. As part of researching your destination, you could also use Social Media to look out for friends who are in your destination. Looking forward to meeting new people in your destination can be a motivation for traveling. Be careful though and make sure that these aren’t new persons you are only beginning to talk to, the older and more verified these people are the better. Also, do not meet them alone. Ever. Public places serve a good meeting point for meet ups.
(5)Cheap Hotels Some of the heaviest cost for travelers are incurred on hotels and accommodation. Skip this barrier by searching for cheap hotels in Abuja, cheap hotels in Lagos, cheap hotels in Kaduna or wherever your destination is. As expensive as some of these cities could be, there are really decent hotels for the budget travel with top services that would give you a comfortable stay. Use the filter on the hotel booking portal to select cheapest first. You would be amazed by the results you would find.
(6)Discount. Vouchers. Promos. Look out for hotel and flight promos, hotels discounts codes and vouchers. This would help reduce cost and get you great deals on luxury services you may otherwise not have been able to afford. Jumia Travel is currently offering Anniversary discounts so you might want to take advantage of that.
(7)Travel off Peak Period. Peak period in Nigeria for travel is the 2nd week of December through the 1st week of January, the weekend of Easter, between July and September, as well as, every other weekend all year round really. To avoid the hike in prices on bus tickets, flight tickets, hotel rooms and food, its best to travel during the periods out of the window listed above.
(Travel Light One of the biggest deterrents for many on making the trip they have always wanted to make is that they do not know how to travel light. And when faced with packing for a trip and not going at all, they would rather not go. If you want to achieve your 2018 travel goals, learn to travel light. Have a small bag that is a dedicated travel bag and endeavor not to pack anything beyond that and a small handbag for personal effects. He who travels light, travels far. Some wise person said that.
(9)Collaborate Another way to achieve your travel goals is to collaborate with individuals and corporate bodies. Have an idea, look for people who are willing to work on it with you. From photographers to writers to environmentalists and NGO’s if there is something you can offer to these people on your trip, they would be no doubt willing to work with you and offset some of your bills as long as you are bringing something of value to them in return.
(10)Travel with Expedition and Tour Groups. There is a lot of travel and tourism small businesses organizing trips for Nigerians and foreigners within and outside the country. These groups visit some of the exotic tourist locations in Nigeria and around Africa from time to time. Among them are Social Prefect, The Village Pot Adventures, The DARE Experience, Naija Nomads, Unravelling Nigeria, Globe Jaunters and a couple of others. Trips are planned all year round for exciting places like Bauchi and its amazing Forest Reserve and natural green landscape, Kajuru Castle in Kaduna, Obudu Moutain Resort in Calabar, the ancient Olumo Rock, The epic Erin Ijesha Waterfall and so many similar places around the country. Going with a group helps you past the barrier of having to plan the trip and take care of the finer details of your adventure.
PRESS STATEMENT: DECISION TO WITHDRAW CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST MS. COMFORT EMMANSON AND TO ADDRESS RELATED MATTERS
1. In the last 48 hours, I have been in consultation with critical stakeholders in the Aviation Sector and those involved in the unfortunate incidents regarding the unruly behaviours of certain individuals at our airports of recent.
2. Though regrettable, we think valuable lessons have been learnt by all sides to these incidents and airport security protocol, especially, have been well highlighted for the travelling public. If nothing at all, the episodes have undoubtedly helped to raise public awareness about appropriate conduct within the aviation space.
3. As highlighted in my previous statements on the last two incidents, clear wrongs were committed by both the offending passengers and staff of the airlines involved from all the evidence available to us and those available to the public. It is clear that all the actors involved cannot continue to highlight the injury or injustice done to them without acknowledging their own equal culpability.
5. Therefore, after reviewing the entire incidents, including appeals made by well-meaning individuals and remorse shown by the actors, the following decisions have been reached:
THE CASE OF IBOM AIRLINE AND MS. COMFORT EMMANSON (a) In the case of the unruly passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, on the Ibom Airline on Sunday, the 10th of August, 2025, I have conferred with Ibom Airline to withdraw the Complaint against her today. When the Police took her Statement in presence of her lawyer, she exhibited great remorse for her conduct.
(b) Subsequent to the withdrawal of the complaint by the Complainant, the CP of Airport Command and the Police Prosecutor will immediately take the remaining steps to facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within this week.
(c) I have also conferred with the leadership of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and have appealed to them to lift the life-time flying ban imposed on her, to which they agreed. The details of the resolution will be made public by the AON subsequently.
THE CASE OF VALUEJET AND WASIU AYINDE MARSHALL (KWAM 1)
(d) In the case of KWAM 1, the NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward.
(e) Having publicly demonstrated penitence, the NCAA is also to withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 earlier lodged with the Police.
(f) In the case of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba of VALUEJET, the NCAA is to restore their licenses after the same period of one-month ban after undergoing some mandatory professional re-appraisal. The details will be announced by the NCAA.
AIRLINE OPERATORS, AVIATION AND OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
6. I have directed all relevant Aviation agencies in collaboration with other complementary agencies outside aviation to IMMEDIATELY begin a retreat NEXT WEEK to properly retrain and prepare our Aviation security personnel on how to deal with errant and disruptive passengers and how to deescalate potentially explosive situations. The retreat will be fully covered by the Press with the opportunity to ask all the relevant questions.
7. The Airlines will also have their own session when the conduct and attitude of their staff towards members of the travelling public will be in full focus.
FINAL COMMENTS
8. These above decisions were taken by Government and the airline operators purely on COMPASSIONATE grounds as Government will never pander to base sentiments, politically-motivated views or warped legal opinions when clear encroachment of our laws are involved.
9. We are also sending a CLEAR MESSAGE that we take safety and security in the aviation sector very seriously and we have decided to draw a line after these clemencies.
This is a very good way to deescalate this situation after the remorse shown by especially Kwam 1 and Comfort.
That's what is called an out-of-court settlement. This here is another way to engage in "alternative dispute resolutions."
It's good to know that Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba of ValueJet are gonna get their licences back after 1-month via the NCAA.
However, the 1-month travel ban MUST persist for the 68-year-old Kwam 1 and the other unruly girl on Ibom Air while both of them MUST be tested for any prior "substance use" OR illnesses which medically can trigger these sorts of violence seen (especially in that unruly female passenger) due to irritability and mental confusion. These are the two things I suspect may be involved in both cases.
Then Kwam 1 can be an Ambassador for FAAN pro-bono with reference to airport security protocol after serving out the 1-month travel ban.
Credible nformation available to me indicates that Captain 'Ranti Ogoyi, the female Captain (pilot) and the First Officer Ivan Oloba of ValueJet have had their license suspensions reduced to 1-month by the NCAA just like Kwam 1 will serve out his travel ban of 1-month. The other unruly female passenger on that Ibom Air flight has also had her life-time ban lifted and reduced to a manageable timeframe. She's ALSO been released from the Kirikiri correctional center in the meantime.
Why this Punch newspaper didn't include those other important details in this article is mind-boggling. It's an irresponsible and deliberate attempt to spread disinformation and generate a needless talking point online and offline.
In any event, this episode is indeed a blessing for the aviation industry in Nigeria because it would enable more attention to be paid to the response times of airport security men to urgent deboarding issues instead of the relatively slow response to the Ibom Air incident, improved airport boarding and arrival protocols, and the purchase of tasers and handcuffs to immediately restrain unruly passengers. As a frequent flyer myself, I can affirm that this would skyrocket the trust in the aviation ecosystem. Period.
‘’Kwam1's apology on the airport incident. To err is human'' ~ Abike Dabiri-Erewa's tweet on X
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa who is one of the iconic NTA News veterans from back in the 1980s was totally RIGHT in her short tweet right ABOVE. Comprehension of basic English language, pure bigotry, and knee-jerk reactions are major issues that I'm seeing in a lot of young people online and offline tbh. Paying attention to little details is very important before spewing out disinformation.
NOW, Abike Dabiri-Erewa who I'm aware is well-read and has a very good command of the English language being a veteran broadcaster (with the likes of John Momoh of Channels Television, 'Sola Omole who moved to Chevron, Ruth Benemaisia, 'Tokunbo Ajayi, etc, who were with NTA as well from the 1980s) and she DIDN'T advocate for Kwam 1 NOT to be charged to court in her short tweet, (BUT she and some folks online and offline ONLY emphasized on the FACT that with ALL humans, "to err is human" after Kwam 1 made the apology video which seemed sincere). She wasn't asking for him NOT to be prosecuted and serve his 6-month travel ban (now reduced to 1-month as of today) which I'm in total support of because he nearly got himself injured or even WORSE when the ValuJet aircraft was beginning to taxi off with Captain Ranti the female pilot in command. Dabiri-Erewa is also a notable Ijebu woman from Ikorodu in Lagos State (just like the Forbes-listed Mrs Folorunso Alakija) while the 68-year-old iconic musician and investor, Kwam 1 is an Ijebu man from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State and he's the "Olori Omo Oba" (a prestigious aristocratic title in his Ijebuland).
It's ONLY highly impulsive people like the so-called young man named Macaroni and those insidious NL bigots and paid trolls posting right from Page 1 who would read any tribalist meanings into Abike Dabiri-Erewa's tweet. This is the same Macaroni who I read got rusticated from his Uni for unruly behavior. His reaction to that tweet was totally off. There's really a wrong brain programing with a lot of youths like Macaroni and these incels, and IRRESPONSIBLE paid online trolls having deep low self-esteem and wanting to be applauded or validated by their ilk with likes and shares online.
To be fair, I won't condider weed a hard drug, I don't toke by the way, as I have been around people that smoke it and it seems to make them chilled.
In fact I knew a guy we played set with that was naturally aggressive, as soon as we all sat down after the games and the blazing cannabis was passed round amongst those interested, his funnier, much more pleasant side kicked in.
Maybe if you mix it with other things sha, you start losing your bearings and all hell breaks lose. That I don't know.
Lol. Indeed, some folks have a strong tolerance to these substances while other lose their bearings especially when mixed with more substances.
I was gleaning through some NDLEA raw data and the figures aren't looking good for Nigeria in parts of Lagos, up North, the Owerri area and more due to the deadly methamphetamine (ice) penetration of higher institutions by the South East hard drugs cartels according to the NDLEA... (Even Liberia as a country is on the brink with an epidemic of drug abuse for both males and females).
aswani: I never really thought about the substance abuse part of things but it does seem plausible, very much so in fact.
I wish you a lovely day too.
@aswani Thank you.
Just a quick one for you to further ponder on. Do you remember the then 21-year-old Chidinma girl who stabbed Michael Usifo Ataga the Super TV boss to death in Lekki and stole his ATM, money and laptop which she insidiouly sold off at Computer Village in Ikeja? She was using hard drugs as well (weeds inclusive). It's important to NEVER trust ALL innocent-looking men and women. Some could by psychos.
Reality is being heavily distorted by the hour with these photoshops and deepfakes. We ALL have to really look deeper at photographs and videos to ensure that they are NOT photoshopped and deep fakes which can be used for blackmailing those who aren't digitally savvy.
: Good morning sir, you were one of the people whose take on the matter I was looking out for and I am somewhat reassured that our thoughts on the incident are not too dissimilar.
On a more concerning note is the preponderance of mainly younger females on here brazenly posting about how the airline had to right to tell her to switch off her phone and trying to say she had put it in flight mode as mitigation. I know it is the phone that is the focus as they can't do without it for even a minute.
Some even suggested because they are not told to switch off their phones on more modern aircrafts run by international airlines, they shouldn't have to on any other flights.
We seem to have a wider moral issue in this country I now feel. In more saner earlier times, if your parents knew your teacher had disciplined you, part two was waiting for you at home.
I fear the pendulum has swung and too far too, instructions are now things to be forcefully challenged including ones to do with the safety of yours and others. How exactly did we get to this point I ask?
To paraphrase the baird himself, "Shame, where art thou?"
That video clip were her oversized mamaries (whose attention from men I suspect is part of the reason for her lack of regard for authority) were exposed for the world to see apparently didn't show where she also assaulted ground staff in continuation of her bad behaviour.
I am hopeful that the one good thing people will learn from this sordid encounter is that they need to follow simple instructions, especially concerning their precious phones. I won't be betting any money on that though.@aswani
Greetings again.
Your post is a class-act.
You stated what is CLEARLY wrong with the emerging society of young people.
There are rules that I simply like to follow for the sake of societal orderliness. Flight instructions, medical instructions, and Police instructions (No matter what, obey the law) because safety is critical in life.
Indeed, I have watched 4 different FULL videos (showing the girl's violent behavior on the Air Ibom and after being denorded) from IG and YouTube which I posted on one of the threads just yesterday in order to get a proper hang of what happened on that flight with that unruly female passenger because as usual I knew that FALSE rumors and disinformation would start flying around from some hungry bloggers and paid ipob troll farms.
Comfort Emmanson to me was definitely involved in "substance use" due to her violent actions of slapping the air hostess, using the extinguisher to destroy some things on board, and violently resisting arrest with led to her top being torn and her cleavages popping out while she was throwing wild tantrums. All these were captured right in the videos.
NEXT time though, I hope the security men will be using tasers and handcuffs to simply immobilize any unruly passenger in any flight. The Kwam 1 ValuJet scenerio and that female passenger's Air Ibom unruliness are a blessing in disguise for Nigeria to quickly upgrade the gadgets that airport security men use as part of standard international aviation protocols.
He ONLY made 400 USD from the scheme and got 3 months jail term with the forfeiture of his phone.
I think this intolerable crime should be made stiffer with an extention to one year jail term with extra community service to serve as a strong deterant. Identify theft is totally bad. This is why I set my IG account and other platforms to private. I don't want random people with insidious intentions stealing my personal data. Period.
Pythagoras001: at this point i think you are deliberating deflecting. how is the bolded relevant to the offence which she herself has committed.
between the flight crew have every right to detain her and in my earlier post i talked about the proper way to restrain the passenger. and i repeat for emphasis the flight crew should have contacted air control before they landed security should have been waiting for the plane before it taxiied to a stop nobody would be allowed to disembark from the plane untill airport security has entered into the plane identified the lady and have are are cuffed so as to prevent the messy situation. Their delay and allowing people to disembark is probably was caused the entire fiasco
the point i initially made was that she commited several offences and she could be charged . if she has video evidence or wittnesses that the flight attendant assualted/battered her she has the option to press charge against her for assault/battery . she also can sue or bring criminal charges against the people who published/reshared or are in poession of her nude photos online . i made this point clear in an earlier post
for anyone who flies regularly please obey every safety instructions of the flight crew/ airport staff locally or internationally disobedience and been unruly is an offence.
if you feel agrrieved for any reason use all available legal channels at your disposal instead of taking laws into your own hands . everything no be by gra gra and this do you know who am i syndrome.
Pythagoras001: you seem to be missing the point. The flight crew are the final authority on the aircraft. If 99 local airline do not require you to switch of your device is completely irrelevant here. The question is did she disobey orders from the flight crew to switch her phone off during take off or landing. If yes she committed an offence if no she did not. Did she assault/batter flight crew/airport security if yes she has committed an offence if no she has not. Ignorance of the law is no excuse that was why I pointed you in my previous post to read prior legislation and regulation. That the laws was not enforced on Mr A is not a defence when it is enforced on Mr B the only issue is that it is immoral and create the impression that some are above the law. I repeat again read the act and regulation I quoted earlier. Yes I know not switching off your phone does not affect air craft safety but You most obey all safety instructions from the flight crew refusal to do so is an offence.

Pythagoras001: yes they do operate under aviation law and it is not the same everywhere in the world although there are similarities. have you read the ncaa act 2022 section 85 and ncar section 17.97. ? i can send you relevant sections screenshot if needed.
does not matter what cause he was fighting for he was uunruly and disrupted airline operations which is an offence. there are legal ways one can channel their grieviances which he could have explored
i perfectly understand that putting your phone on flight mode is as good as putting your phone off. but the flight crew lawfull instructions to you are final.
i have seen someone who was forcefully removed from their seat and arrested for refusing to change seat when he was told to do so by the flight crew. he was seating on the row close to the emmergency exit and did not understand english. read the prior post https://www.nairaland.com/8496044/ibom-air-fracas-other-passengers#136425850
Indeed. This is a reality that will reset the brain cells of ignorant people and passengers who have NO knowledge of flight protocols.
