So, imprisoning a man who purportedly abondoned a pregnant woman is the remedy to the pregnant woman's predicament. Does his imprisonment translates to the moral and financial supports of the pregnant woman?

As long as the woman was not raped, she had all the time, right to say 'no' to unprotective sex.

Is it not expedient for government to establish social responsibility centres to handle this kind of case than this 'law rigmarole'?

This kind of law could create a lot of tensions in a relationship between a man and a woman. We may have more female rapists than male, all in the name of getting pregnant for a man who never wants them.

What are all these confused news about? What does it for a journalist to research and confirm his story before publishing.

It was all over news yesterday. I first heard on Silverbird 10pm News. It made The Punch headline of today (08/08/11). What is the gain of all these confusions by our journalists.

It is very embarrassing. Ain't the family sue them for misleading story if the news is confirm to be hoax?

It is not a case of paying the balance or defaulting in the paying the balance. The contract was supposed to be between the OP and the bank, but the bank breached the contract by disclosing the deal to a 3rd party that was apparently not included the contract.

That alone could harm the relationship the Op has with the 3rd party [being his boss]. It is very unprofessional of the bank.

Sue the bank, as you would have been sued if you had defaulted. What you need do, examines all the contract papers signed; especially the terms and conditions of the contracts to be sure there was no clause. Get your lawyer to examine same and interpret any clause that seems confusing. You lawyer should be able to advise you on the next line of action after examining your contract documents.

The unprofessional act of the bank might endanger the trust your boss had on you [if any]. It is suable.

I don't understand why some of us are afraid to do the right thing.

Most children take their parents unseriously if they are scolded verbally ever now and then. To make them realise the seriousness of your constant scolding you need to apply a little intimidating measures like flogging.

When i was a kid the fear of cane was the beginning of wisdom. The fear of flogging deterred us from acting contrary to the instructions of our parents.

If you believe flogging a child is an abuse on the child, then you better think twice. Children of nowadays need more flogging in order for them to step into the footprints of parents. Flogging your child does not make you bad/abuse parents. If the child grows up and become a nuisance to the society, the blame goes to you as irresponsible parents. If s/he is good, you become a reference of good parenting to the society.

Spare the rod and spoil the child, the Bible was not wrong.

I never knew quiting a doctrine could be this complicated. Life is free so does religion, except, it is a cult. You are free to oscillate from one religion/doctrine to other without any fear of persecution.

To me, I see no change in our Police Force. Pay the least rank N150,000 basic monthly salary excluding allowances. The insidious norms of bribery, recklessness, anti-taxpayers attitude, unprofessional conducts and many other ills typical of NPF will continue.

These attitudes can only be changed or reduced when our orientation changed. Until we begin to make laws that bark and bite. Until we see corruption as bane of our general development as a country. Until the president is punish for acting contrary to the constitution. Until we see the constitution as sacrosanct, we will continue to rigmarole and trace the circumference.

I think he did well handling the Minimum Wage issue. He remained Presidential throughout. Quality of the FEC in core areas of the economy is also good; attracting Ngozi and Prof Nnaji and retaining Labaran Maku, who informs the citizenry about government programs without making a noise about it. He has also done well in foreign policy. Boko Haram; I'll say neither here nor there but that's an extension of the challenging security environment in the country. I will score him low on cost of governance and anti-corruption.
Overall, I think he is not a noisy president and I respect him for that. I didn't vote for him but he has done more than I could ever give him credit for.

i disagree with mr. kita tita, i am not sure you are in nigeria. which area in minimum wage pls? nlc proposed strike was only averted not becos the govt of gej handles it well but becos of reasons best known to the stakeholders in nlc and tuc. the strike may be on in August, our fingers are crossed

the present govt has been in power for over a year now, i have not seen any sign of fresh air promised, rather, violence, dead, stable food/resources are out of reach. kerosine now sales at pound rates [more expensive than gold], overblown executives and duplication of functions hence, high cost of governance and avoidable wastes in government. nigerians have decided to let go of power since it has become an incurable ailment. corruption is treated with kids' gloves. no signs whatsoever that nigeria is on the right path and will get it right soon. instead the govt is agitating for 2nd term or single term of 7yrs as they see no respite for the people in 4yrs (4yrs are for godfathers not fulfilling promises).

my take is, this govt is clueless. may be this question is too early to be asked. for now minus 1 (-1) rating.
