Mamacita007: Yes you can and thats what Im using too. My GRE scores are not very good so id rather take the online printout because the original comes with a graph that shows my low percentile,but it doesnt show online.
Actually its not their business if the graph shows u were low, as long as u used it to get admission but u can always leave it out if u wanna. . . .

okpurukata: My question is this. How has Obama,'s presidency affected Africa? Any positive impact? I am not aware of any. He would have ceded the world Bank presidency to Africa as a show of goodwil. As long as am concerned, he is a white man in a black skin. So why don't a proper white rule? That's my stand
Is he president of Africa? Why should he affect Africa? What has GEJ done for America? You ppl are still waiting for white ppl to come n save u. . . .

And is he the person selecting president of world bank now?

ronakoks: Hi all,
Ive been following this thread for more than a year now and i have read through all the post in this thread and the previous ones. This is my first post on this thread.

Now I am a spring 2013 applicant. Im going to a university in the state of Missouri and Im goin to study Masters in biology/biological sciences(that's what on my I20). I was wondering if anyone is also going to the embassy with Msc Biology/Biological sciences. Let us rob minds on how to tackle this F1 interview.

I havn't seen many interview experience on this thread for students going to study biology/biological sciences(except for one or two). most that ive seen are either msc enginering or mba or MPH or computer science/IT.

If you have a background in microbiology or a related discipline in biological sciences like i do and are going to do msc biology in spring, I have a few questions that im trying to rap my head around.

1. why do you want to study in the United States, why not Else Where or even Here in Nigera?...

2. Why this university?
.... i need to be able to defend this school well, because the school im goin to is not a very big school( aprox 12k enrolment). But i applied there cos i was pretty sure i would get accepted as my undergrad gpa wasn't very impressive, 3.41/5.

3.How many schools you applied to?. How may admits?..... I only have 1 admit for now out of the 3 schools i applied to. On my gre score card, there are 6 schools. I never applied to the rest 3. I just sent out scores to them. I hope VO wont think i applied to 6 schools and only got 1 admit.

4.Why msc biology ?( question could also come as "what would this degree do for you?" Quite frankly, i think this is what they mean when they ask you "why this course". Ive come to realize that its not about the passion you have about the course that matters, at least for the purpose of this interview. what you need to do is to explain how you intend to make a good career out of this program - forget passion for now.)

3.what have you been doing since you graduated in 2008 ?

4. did you take gre?.... my gre score was 150 Quants and 153 verbal.. which is just average.. i wish i coulda done better, but the gre revised was harder than i expected.

I cant stop thinking about these question and a few others. Ive guided a number of pple for admission and visa application. Now its time for me to go to the embassy and i feel a bit anxious. I guess this thing is easier said than done. Maybe its because of the course im going to study (Msc Biology), but i needed to get something related to my undergraduate degree, in order to show academic progression.

Please house, we need to be more active on this tread... there hasn't been much post lately by spring applicants. Anyone gotten his F1 yet ?.. please post your interview experience. lets all know the latest happenings at US embassy.
Majority of the past posters were either engineering or biologists. . . Go back to part 1

Christianity EtcRe: Atheists Are More "Moral" Than Christians/muslims (the Evidence). Do You Accept? by kpolli(m): 1:48am On Nov 04, 2012
Logicboy03: Considering the discrimination that atheists receive in many countries, one would think that we are some kind of devilish cult that sacrifice babies to our demon overlord. However, we can see that it is not quite so as many atheists live their lives peacefully. Many religious people say that atheists are immoral and dont want to have any responsibility for their actions. But is it so? Let us review some certain facts in this current time we are living in;

a) Do unto others, as you would want to be done unto you;

Currently, atheists face discrimination by both christians and muslims in very religious countries. Take any sharia country where sharing atheism is met with either an arrest or death(http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia-pacific/2012/06/20126146135415374.html). Take religious countries like the USA where the military has widespread discrimination against atheists (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/26/us/26atheist.html?pagewanted=all).

With all these cases of discrimination, do atheists retaliate? Lets look at Britain or many European countries that have a lot of atheists living with religious people. Do the atheists in these very secular countries discriminate in a widespread manner against the religious in general? No. You will be very hard pressed to find cases where a religious person was discriminated against by an atheist just for being a religious person.

b) Sancticty of Marriage/Family

-Atheists divorce less than christians in America
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/religion/2011-03-14-divorce-christians_N.htm

-Honor killing of wives/daughters is not an atheist thing, it happens mostly in muslim and South Asian communities
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing

-First cousin marriage is not an atheist thing, rather it is more likely to happen in some Christain (LDS sects) and certain muslim societies

c) Equality of women

-Wife beating is permitted in some interpretations of the Quran and hadith (Christian and atheists generally condemn this act.....impossible to find a pastor or an atheist debater that condones wife beating unlike some clerics/imams)
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/damianthompson/3683071/Lessons_in_how_to_beat_your_wife/

-Positions in organisations; Christains and muslims are now changing to adopt women as imams or priests. However, there are till conservatives that feel that this should not. There is no reason why atheists/secular humanists should be against women in leadership positions in organisations.

d) Violence;

I dont even have to talk too much grin grin grin grin

-All I will say is that the most peaceful countries (top 10 on the peace index) have a high percentage of atheists and also have a falling number in church attendance. There is no muslim majority or sharia country in the top 10 peaceful countries.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index#Global_Peace_Index_rankings

-Atheists dont blow up skyscrapers or abortion clinics or churches.

Bludeville: So a friend of mine started dating this guy about three years ago, and last year around April, he proposed, but till today, they haven't fixed a date for their wedding and haven't even started planning or anything.

Anytime she brings it up with him, he gives a wonderful reason why they cant get married yet. First he lost his job soon after he proposed even though she had a job that paid up to 140k at the time and he had good prospects and savings yet he refused to consider getting married even when she begged and said they should make it a very small ceremony.

He got another job but still refuses because his future/career course is 'uncertain' as he is still young in his job. Outside of this, he is very loving and caring, always kind and thoughtful even towards her family members. Almost Mr. Perfect.

Do you think this guy has developed cold feet? If yes, what can this my friend do? if not, how can she handle this cause she cant wait to 'settle down' and start building a home and she is tired of all the waiting...
Sorry but that was very wrong of her. . . He just lost his means of lively hood and she was talking marriage, she sounds too desperate and he might just want to calm her down

Mamacita007: Those of you with GA - Did you get the GA at the time of admission or afterwards? My school offers GA, but they won't allow anyone to apply until they accept you to the program. I just applied today. Should I wait till the GA decision is made before i schedule an appointment at the embassy? Because right now I don't have it.
Am not sure of the process either and if u shud wait, u wud have to wait for them to make a decision b4 u can schedule. . . If u have the funds, apply now. . . . when the GA comes, if there is time, u swap I-20s (if I remember well, u wud have to send back the old I-20 to get the new one). . . so its risky

Mamacita007: Long story. He did diploma with them and after 2years, he passed and joined the department in 200level. Took classes till 400level. When he was about to graduate, they won't let him because they questioned that he didn't submit his WAEC certificate to the department when he transferred. His story is that he didn't know it was necessary since he wrote the diploma entrance exam and passed it. But his trying to 'arrange' his statement of result from the department to see if he can use that for a Masters even though they didn't let him graduate. We actually went to school together. I wonder what really happened.
How would he use it for a masters when he doesn't even hold a B.Sc.? Went to the same school, same method (but my diploma was a year) so i know how useless the institution can be. . . .

So now why doesn't he just submit the waec result now? Plus its the department's fault, why allow someone who didn't submit his waec to be a registered student of the department for 3yrs. . .
