GentleToks: Inasmuch as no reasonable person would support the aggressive and insulting comments being made by a Kanu, who purports to fight for Ndigbo, but your piece is even more annoying. By suggesting that Igbos would be attacked in north and south west shows there is an insipid hate boiling inside you. This makes you no different from a freedom fighter Kanu or terrorist Shekau. Why do you always bandy the south west with the north? Can't the yoruba fight their cause irrespective and exclusive of the hausa fulani? Are these the only Nigerians to the exclusion of well-meaning millions of Igbos in Nigeria and beyond? What makes you believe your 'pogrom'fantasy will not be met with even worse aggression from the Igbo or that it will enjoy the kind of diabolic, conspiratorial international support/silence that in 1966-70 ensured ndigbo were annihilated and schemed out and enslaved the entire south-the yoruba inclusive? yoruba and other southerners time to wise up -you are all slaves! 2 Likes 1 Share |

No matter how you look at it, Nigeria exists for the exploitation of the resources of the old eastern region. They went ahead to divide it into south south/south east for ease of suppression. Look at the level of degradation in this region and yet they would never let them enjoy the good of this country. Jonathan merely spent five years and he never enjoyed rest for one day. Allow the core Igbo to rule Nigeria? Lai lai. So the best option is outright secession through legal means. I second this motion intoto. 1 Like |
Politics / Ohaneze/afenifere Endorse Jonathan For Re-election by Kponkwem(m): 4:31pm On Jan 28, 2015 |
7-Igbo States Under Ohaneze,/Afenifere Endorse Jonathan For Re-Election The Igbo umbrella body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday in Awka, Anambra State, endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the presidential election in February. Speaking to journalists, president of Ohanaeze in the state, who is also the chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo State Presidents Forum, Elder Chris Eluemunoh, said the seven presidents-general of the seven states that make up the Igbo nation which include Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers and Delta, resolved to endorse Jonathan “because of the need to implement the national conference recommendations among other things.” A communiqué signed by the seven presidents-general, said, “since the All Progressive Congress (APC) opted out of the conference, it means that the initiator, President Jonathan would be voted to implement it.” It added: “Considering the realities of the forthcoming 2015 general elections, Ohanaeze Ndigbo State Presidents Forum has objectively made a critical assessment of the scenario and our findings revealed that implementation of the just concluded National Conference resolutions is necessary for the sake of equity and fairness. In view of the foregoing, the Ohanaeze State Presidents Forum endorses President Jonathan for the presidential election and urges all Igbos in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja to vote massively for him.” On the alleged crisis rocking the apex Igbo body, the group said Chief Enwo Igariweh and Dr Joe Nworgu remained the president-general and Secretary general of the body. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/45508-2015-ohanaeze-ndibgo-endorses-jonathan A+ A A- Afenifere Meets Jonathan, endorses second term bid The Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, yesterday in Akure endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan’s bid for a second term on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just as the Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, declared Wednesday as work free for the people of the state. Afenifere gave the endorsement at a meeting of its members with the president at the residence of the group’s leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti. Jonathan told reporters as he left the meeting venue that he had gone to pay homage to the leader of Afenifere and Ondo people. Spokesperson for the group, Yinka Odumakin, told newsmen after the meeting that the Afenifere’s endorsement was predicated on the president’s commitment to implementing the recommendations in the report submitted by the national conference convened in 2014. “Afenifere supports the president’s re-election bid because he had the courage to convene the national conference and we hope that he will implement the report. The president also expressed the commitment that he would adopt the report within 12 months of his re-assumption of office on May 29,” Odumakin said. Governor Mimiko, who spoke after the meeting, said: “This is the first time Afenifere will be endorsing any president.” He added that Afenifere remained a credible and dependable socio-political group in the South West. Members present at the meeting include: Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Olu Falae, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Yinka Odumakin, Segun Arisegun, Chief Sehinde Arogbofa and Senator Iyiola Omisore, among others. Earlier, the state government announced today a work- free day for the PDP presidential rally in the state. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/45535-afenifere-meets-jonathan-endorses-second-term-bid |

I do not support GEJ, but I think Bihara's inability to present even a primary school certificate is an insult to millions of graduates in Nigeria, many of whom are without jobs. Nigerians, who are going to vote, must resist the imposition of mediocrity on the country. The Bihara I saw at the APC rally in PH is so incoherent, incomprehensible and ill-equipped to grasp the simple concepts of economic issue. This man will lose the election to GEJ just for lack of credible alternative by APC. 20 Likes |

Politics / Niger Gov Allegedly Planning To Blackmail Aspirant by Kponkwem(m): 10:30pm On Dec 27, 2014 |
By Paschal Chiduluemije “Nobody goes to politics without being smeared. And you stand the risk of making more enemies than friends. The purpose of life is the pursuit of happiness, which is not necessarily accomplished in active politicking”- late Chief Abiola. The above words of exhortation by late Chief M.K.O Abiola aptly capture the ongoing travails of no other politician than Engr. Muazu Hanafi Sarkin Sudan in Niger state. Consequently, a top political stakeholder in Niger state has accused Governor Babangida Aliyu of plotting to blackmail Engr. Sudan, a strong contender for the governorship seat in the state, in order to pave way for his anointed candidate. According to the politician, the Governor is allegedly involved in orchestrated plans to sponsor people to dig out unfounded issues about the aspirant to pave way for his own anointed candidate Umar Nasko. The purported victory of Nasko in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary is still hotly contested by Hanafi Sarkin Sudan, who came second. In his suit before an Abuja Federal High court, Hanafi Sudan wants the court to nullify the primaries for not conforming to the party electoral guidelines and the electoral Act. The PDP stakeholder asks “if PDP is busy nullifying primary elections in other states, why can’t they take a stand on the bad conduct of the primaries in Niger state?” Apparently peeved and worried by the seeming reluctance on the part of the national leadership of the party, the stakeholder appears to even doubt the sincerity of those who organized the primaries. According to him, “Don’t let me believe the allegation that members of the PDP electoral committee for Niger state were bribed”. Nevertheless, no matter what seems to be the political “sins” of Engr. Hanafi Sudan, it is behooves on Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state as a law abiding citizen of Nigeria to shelve whatever blackmail he is alleged to be using against the former and allow time and the court to determine justice on the matter pertaining to Niger state PDP gubernatorial contest. A word is enough for the wise. Onyiorah Paschal Chiduluemije writes from Abuja via duluemije4justice@yahoo.com. http://eaglereporters.com/2014/12/27/niger-gov-allegedly-planning-blackmail-aspirant/ |

Vivly: If I may educate you, you don't understand the indices of devlpt. If Abia isn't a state then there are no states in Nigeria. I've been to 25 of Nigeria's 36 states, and only few can compare to Abia. As am typing now I'm in Abeokuta. Apart from the industrial clusters around Ota, Ewekoro, and Ifo, the whole place is a big slum. Umuahia is one of the neatest state capitals, with streets fashioned after French, Dutch and German inner city patterns. Abiriba, Arochukwu and Igbere are medium towns with fine roads and houses comparable only to those in Maitama, Abuja and European cities. Aba is an industrial hub but lacks adequate sewage system, refuse mgt and road networks. Abians are highly skilled and informed with good tastes for themselves without govt intervention. So where did you visit in Abia and how do you rate devlpt? Agreed that there low govt intervention in Abia but the state will still be judged a more asthetically and environmentally friendly place to live than say Kogi, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo, parts of Lagos, Rivers, Ebonyi, Yobe, etc. Talking from experience though. 3 Likes |

Ikwerreboy: Small boy you can't help it for this is yet a small trinkle that will soon turn to ocean. The mainland Igbos have every right to Ikwerre and other Rivers towns. Except you can do an open protest against it which I know will be unconstitutional moreso all Ikwerres are Igbos. In the far North especially Kaduna and Kebbi States, I saw many Igbo with LG Letters and they are accepted by the other citizens. In Rivers State, since the time of Nnamdi Nwokekoro ten years ago, an Ikwerre mayor of PH, many mainland Igbos were given certificates of LGship. Big cities that sprawl from huge hinterland populations always have this remarkable socio-cultural diffusion. Same as Lagos for all other sub-Yoruba groups in jobs and scholarships, same is PH for all Easterners including many of Efik-Ibibio friends in PH. Its even very difficult to distinguish between mainland Igbo and Ikwerre Igbo. So cry all they would, the Ikwerres can't run away from their shadows. 2 Likes |
Politics / Peter Obi And The Rubbishing Of Ojukwu's Memory by Kponkwem(m): 8:28am On Oct 08, 2014 |
Peter Obi and the Rubbishing of Ojukwu's Memory The news of Peter Obi's decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) away from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is ominous sign of the final obfurcation of the memory of Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu, former leader of the Republic of Biafra and the greatest Igbo leader ever. By leaving the party that brought him to relevance, Obi has sounded a death knell on the APGA, the legacy of Ojukwu and the hope of Igbo political renaissance. When in 2003 Obi, a relatively unknown private sector billionnaire, was running for the Awka Government House, it took the presence of Ojukwu to persuade Anambrarians to vote him to power. Ojukwu then raised his hands at rallies proclaiming that "ndi be anyi, unu tunyelu nwa m, unu akwaa m n'ndu." This means "My people if you elect 'my son' you have immortalised and interred me in life." Peter Obi coasted to victory in a popular poll against the money bags of the Uba brothers and the Obasanjo-led Abuja machinery. When Obi's mandate was stolen, again it took the roaring lion of Nnewi to egg him on to reclaim his mandate through the courts. Fast forward to October 2014, Ojukwu is dead but his memory and legacy still lives among the Igbo and all true Africans. An Obi, who professed love for and one of the biggest beneficiaries of the man, has jumped ship! He has began the process of burying the party which serves as Ojukwu's legacy. Ojukwu must be turning in his grave! The visioner of APGA Chekwas Okorie must be reeling in anguish! All true Igbo are in shock! Aru eme! Of what benefit is this defection to the people? This is betrayal! The Igbo as a giant race (Enyimba) must rise up against this men that have sold the people's destiny for a mess of porridge. |

There is no magic to make the North more populated than South. The LGs in the far north are ghost hamlets unlike in the South. And the conclusive evidence of Southern population supremacy is the fact that Southern territories are more ancient settlements with indigenous populations that have lived and established their civilization for over five thousand years. I.e Nsukka. For the North, you have recent strings of migrations from neighbouring west African states like the Uthman Dan Fodio conquest of the 1800s. I dare say that there is no Hausa Fulani kingdom that is up to 700 years in existence. So how can settlers be more than indigenous peoples? 1 Like |

Demdem: Get the hell out! Which place is ND? The so-called SS will be the most hotly divided part on the issue of Biafra. After over 50 years of the war, these parts are yet to come to terms with the choices they made either for or against secession. Till today Mr Kalada Jeni, a prince from Bonny is still leading protests and filing court papers for the recognition of what he calls 'indiginous peoples of Biafra'. You know the role played by Uche Okwukwu of the former Rivers Action Congress in the MASSOB agitations? I'm both CRS and Abia and there are so many who are eastern bilingual like me I can tell you that its just too close. Yes, the fear about seperate country is there even among core Igbos; resentment and what's not, but not really deep to boiling point. But with the exception of force, has any group been given the chance to vote in a referendum? Let's try and vote, without war you will be amazed the choice the so-called ND will make, it certainly won't be to follow Nigeria. The truth is the division of the Igbo and minorities was sown and germinated from outside. So take your crap away! 1 Like |

It is unfortunate that everything in Nigeria is clouded with sentiments. Infact, the diplomatic dimension to the tragedy demands that he sees the incident first hand before reaching out to his colleague President of SA. #GEJAlwaysOnPoint |
