Politics / Re: Over One Million Killed In The North Since 1966, Says Buhari by Kponkwem(m): 8:52pm On Sep 20, 2014
These Northern power usurpers will never talk without resorting to the civil war; a war fought and won for them by external forces for oil booty seeing they have nothing in their region to offer. The figures he is taunting may be correct if u add the pogrom against easterners- 100,000 and various religious killings with tens of thousands deaths. The north is bloody region, a subdued cauldron always eager to explode.

Those who make peaceful change impossible invariably makes violent change inevitable, am sick of being in a country with people who wants to kill me because of my religion, to your tents oh Israel.

Scotland has stoked a serious fire on seperatism and self determination around the world. The lie for instance on Nigeria must be exposed. If this country cannot stand, let's seperate! The era of threatening people especially, the Igbo of losing their lives and properties are over. After all, after this Scottish vote, the two nations will agree on assets management and transfers. Politics / Adekunle, Niger Delta And Igbo Biafrans by Kponkwem(m): 10:52pm On Sep 14, 2014
Adekunle, Niger Delta and Igbo Biafrans

The ruthless and inhuman operation carried out by the now late Col. Benjamin Adekunle, the half Yoruba, half Bachama commander of the 3rd Marine Commandos have been justified on the grounds that the ill-armed Biafran forces/civillians were dealt with for occupying Niger Delta territory.

I have read this lie told overtime even on this NL forum with the effect that some riverine peoples despite high inter-marriage and cultural fusion with the Igbo still see Igbo as enemy. Let me make it clear like many people, that I do not support a return to the geo-political 'one East'. For the peace, security and comfort of the various groups in Nigeria, the six geo-political zones must stand. The hypocrisy of one region where a particular group lords it over the others, massacres the minorities, try to convert them against their religious beliefs by force, claim their fertile lands, deny them political power, infrastructure etc as is happening in parts of Nigeria especially North, have never and can never happen among the liberal, stateless ethnic groups on the eastern side.

So the fallacy that the Igbo went after ND oil? Nothing can be farther from the truth. It is part of the barefaced distortions of historical facts. Such lies are responsible for Nigeria's continuing backwardness, inter-group suspicion, violence, political, economic and social chaos.

This lie has been used to justify the now equally devious and rapacious occupation and squandering of the same Niger Delta oil by far-flung ethnic groups from Nigeria's multifarous and diverse ethnic constituents as part of either war booty against the peoples of the former Eastern region and Mid-West or as a 'shared national asset'. Agriculture and solid minerals on their side have been abandoned. Agitations for more constituents of the sharing is increasing and corruption has reached a crescendo.

If the truth must to be told to those who keep repeating this deception: 1)the ND was part of the Eastern region before the civil war. And Igbo was the largest ethnic group in the region followed by the Efik-Ibibio, then the Ijaw, Ogoja-Bekwarra, Ogoni etc. News broadcast in the East was in this order. So there was no issue of this occupying that, otherwise can you tell me the differences culturally among the eastern groups.

2)The peoples of Eastern Region through the Constituent Assembly, which had been in place since the colonial rule in 1967, following the despicable bloodbath in Nigeria, mandated the establishment of an eastern seperate republic from Nigeria 'as soon as practicable', the practicability being adequate weapons, men, materials, international support, home mobilisations etc. Whether all these were available before Ojukwu's 30th May, 1967 announcement is now history.
3) That the pre-war killings in Nigeria did not spare any ethnic group of the East being mainly christians and the sentiments for seperation from Nigeria were virtually the same except that the enemy manipulated the fear factor against these groups vis-a-vis the Igbo.

In the book, 'In Biafra Africa Died' the author factually showed what happened in the period. The truth is the Biafra lost that war because of Ojukwu's purely narrow conception of the war as a war of survival from the pogrom that was going on against easterners in Nigeria under Gowon's watch. By the time he realised the economic dimension (sending adequate troops to secure the coastal areas), which would have secured him international support (he who has the oil has the supply of weapons etc), Gowon has occupied the oil fields of Bonny and the Bight of Biafra. The difficulties of the riverine terrain also compelled Ojukwu to strike a deal with the obviously pro-Biafran leaders of the ND to use whatever weapons they could to defend their areas or declare for the federal side to save their lives in the interim, while the few troops he could muster would try to push the federals away from the Igbo mainland. This was exactly what happened. You may read further details below:

(In the course of its existence, Biafra was believed to have symbolised a prototype of an ideal multination state in Africa. People used to listen to Biafran news in Igbo, Ibibio, Efik, Ijaw and Ogoja beginning with Igbo. Every person in Biafra was accomodated in the structure of the state. The name Okoko Ndem, non Igbo, dominated the air and most people did not know whether he was Efik, Ijaw, Ogoja or Igbo.

While the minorities Rivers area of Biafra was being threatened by Nigerian troops, Col. Ojukwu asked the tribal (ethnic) chiefs of the two southern provinces of Yenogoa and Degema, to come and see him. He told them the nature of the terrain they lived in was unsuitable for defence, that he could not offer great hopes of the Biafran Army being able to prevent the Nigerians from overrunning them. Therefore he offered the Chiefs the chance that if they wished to opt for Nigeria and save themselves from eventual reprisals, he would draw up his defensive line north of the two provinces and cede the remainder to Nigeria. The chiefs wished to reply at once, but Ojukwu told them to go back home and talk it over in council. The next day, a messenger arrived with the Rivers people's answer. THEY WANTED TO STAY WITH BIAFRA. They hoped for every defence possible and would help all they could. They realised this would bring reprisals and were ready for them.

If the above was the true representation of what actually transpired between the Biafran Head of State and the minority leaders of the southern provinces, it may be hard to sustain the argument about Igbo coercion of the minorities against their will to be part of Biafra. Perhaps one of the objective methods which could have settled this question beyond doubts was Emeka Ojukwu's call for a plebescite: "If Nigeria believes that she is really defending the true wishes of the minorities, she should accept our proposal for a PLEBESCITE in the disputed areas of Nigeria and Biafra) page 88.

I do not believe in the so-called Adekunle heroics. It was just a matter of circumstancial coincidence that he was in the terrain even when die-hards like Isaac Adaka Boro had started rebelling against Biafra. Mind you Biafra was not fighting only westward but also northward, and later southwards from the coast which must distract and polarise any strong army. If you fight me from my back, as Adekunle and other Yoruba fighters did, then you are a coward. These men coming through the coast suffered thousands of losses to their troops for their foolish gambit.

In conclusion, there were no heroes in that war, all were cowards. After claiming the oil booty, Gowon declared: 'No victor, no vanquished'; the half-Igbo, half Edo Col Alabi Isama called it 'The Tragedy of Victory'. And if we are wise, we must avoid a repeat of that folly even if oil resources survive for years longer than expected to run out of relevance.

In Chelsea, he quickly signed a five year deal, which ties him to the club and which means selling him will cost Chelsea dear and since no club can loan him, he wouldn't mind remaining on the bench and signing millions of naira each week.

Rawani: When progressive nairalanders called for the investigation of Ihejirika, they were called gullible and not logical for believing the Aussie, on the basis that there was no evidence tying him to BH.

Now reasonable evidence of his possible roles and motives which could link him to sponsorship of BH has been offered, and all we hear is "He is a Christian, He is Igbo"

Ihejirika is Igbo? The Igbo greed for money is legendary and globally acknowledged, and our military, specifically Army budget has never been this high and we have seen NOTHING come out of the trillions allocated to the Army, does that not say something to you?

Ihejirika is a Christian? Was Gowon not a Christian and son of an evangelist? Did that stop him from using the same army from decimating 3 million Igbos?

Ihejirika is a southerner? Was it not Bayelsa State Govt that owned the house in Lagos where BH terrorists (including a chadian) were arrested in March last year? http://thenationonlineng.net/new/bayelsa-govt-owns-terrorists-lagos-hideout-says-monarch/

Ihejirika/Sherrif were named by an unbiased party, whose credibility has not been proven to be compromised despite sustained attacks on his person.

Where is the logic in not allowing the investigation of these accused men?

We can only hope the truth is revealed as soon as possible and perpetrators are dealt with. I also hope that the soft pedaling on this issue by the FG will provoke the Aussie to release irrefutable evidence to nail sponsors, including those in the CBN and the opposition because right now it's not about PDP/APC or North/South, but about Survival.

Who fed you with the crap that Nigerian Army decimated 3 million Igbos? Can the Nigerian Army face a well-armed group? My brother forget it, Igbo civillians were felled by hunger brought about by Awolowo's blockade. The facts of that war shows the Biafran Army decimated more number of Nigerian soldiers in thousands than the Nigerian, which included all ethnic groups of Nigeria, did against ndigbo.

But the question remains why have BH captured more territories under Minimah's four months than it did under Ihejirika's three years?

Lordlexyy: According to the report, Ihejirike emergence and the introduction of the 7th armoured brigade completely demobilised the proactiveness of the CJTF who all the while had prevented the re-grouping of the insurgents. Also, some of the army commanders who were conversant with the terrain were redeployed on the ground of sabatage. The crux of this information doesn't exactly focus on the alleged complicity of the former army chief but on his poor professional handling of the crisis. Further more, the evident death and destructions of civilian lives and properties respectively by the NA under the watchful eyes of Ihejirike was also captioned independently. Could it have cost the former COAS staff anything to collect bribe, kill civilians, supply bh with arms, enrich himself and allow them to reign for all he cares, after all, it was a northern affair?

Read and Listen to your nonsense post. So CJTF is now the legitimate and trained troops to confront BH? This sentiments being expressed will continue until BH captures the rest of N/east under the nose of another Army Chief, who may never be attempted to be roped since he is not Igbo. Ndi ara!

brainpower: There is a difference between being a descendant of Igbo and being Igbo. Benin have descendants from yoruba but are not yoruba, go to Opobo, you will find out that they speak igbo but that doesn't make them Igbo. There are many examples of tribes or ethnic groups that descend from another, infact every tribe has descendants from another place especially the Fulani's who are widely believed that they are immigrants that forced themselves on Nigeria but it doesn't take away their right of being Nigerians. So no matter where the Ikwerre's descend from, they are an ethnic group and a tribe and therefore their rights should be respected.

The truth is there is so much ignorance on Nairaland. That people had different route of migration does not detatch them from their central pool or convergence of ethnic identity. For instance the Ikwerre are just one or two local govts of other Igbo states and they have their clear migratory history. The Onitshas, Ndoni, Ohafia areas also trace their origin to Benin while the Abiribas, Abams, Arochukwus trace theirs to Efike Cross River axis and Benin respectively. The conclusive factor has always been that the progenitors all bear Igbo names. Onitsha-Ezechima; Abiriba- Nnachi Enwo; Ikwerre-Akalaka. All Ikwerres by speaking the dialect, use the same cultural symbols, food, proverbs, royal titles, and share similar cosmological view etc all point to their clear Igboness. All the Igbo attacking them should blame the civil war effects and also pray that oil depletes from Nigeria or that core riverine areas be carved out from the upland, then they will come back to senses. Problem solved!

The North fought ndigbo to secure Nigeria which they will lose if ndigbo leaves, the SS betrayed ndigbo despite being majorly Igbos..

So who are the real enemies?

I conclude that the evil was hatched by the north and the ndiofes to cause the mistrust between brothers, that so by ensuring no abandoned properties in their areas only within the east-PH to be sure.

Igbos Are At Home In North, Seek Political Participation

The president of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Kaduna State Branch, Chief Austin C. Amaechi, has said that the Igbo would not abandon their multi-billion naira investment in the North. He said his people in the region would not be forced to go back to the East despite the wave of insecurity, adding that they are at home in the North.

Speaking yesterday at his inauguration as the newly selected president of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Kaduna State Branch, Amaechi said that since there are a lot of Igbo people in most northern parts of the country, it is important to have a leader that can enhance peaceful co-existence between them and their hosts, as well as protect their investments.
“The Igbo currently have investments of over N40 billion in the North. So how can they leave that and go to the East? Economically, we are at home in the North. We also want to participate politically. We will therefore ensure that we pursue peace with our host communities and among the Igbo communities. This is because once there is peace, our investments and other people’s investments will be secured. If there is no peace, it is not only the investments of the Igbo that would be threatened; other Nigerians would also be affected.
“There are a lot of Igbo people in most of the northern parts of the country. So there is the need to have a sound leader to ensure that the good relationship between them and their host communities is sustained. My mission is therefore to enhance an understanding between the Igbo in Kaduna State and their host communities,’’ he said.
Amaechi was selected to replace the late Engineer Andrew Nwaekwe, who passed away in 2012. He called on the people to disregard the call by some groups that the Igbo should leave the North ahead of the 2015 general elections.
“I am aware that our brothers in the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have called on the Igbo in the North and outside Igbo communities in the East to come home. As the new Igbo leader in Kaduna, I hereby call on our people to realise that we are comfortable here in the North. We are waxing stronger and stronger. We are feeling at home; hence we have no reason to think of going home. We are not just coming to the North; we have been in the North from the beginning. I call on all the Igbo in the North to participate in the 2015 general elections and ensure that credible leaders, who will protect, not only the interest of the host communities, but the interest of the non- natives, are elected into offices.
“I also want to say that during the Nigerian civil war, the properties of the Igbo were secured by northerners. And after the war when the Igbo came back, our properties were handed over to us, including the money collected from rents. That helped us to re-establish ourselves after the war. I don’t want to point to other parts of Nigeria where the investments of the Igbo were declared abandoned properties. That never happened in the North. That is giving us the confidence to continue investing in the North despite the security challenges. I can assure you that the investment will continue because very soon, the security challenges will come to an end by the Grace of God,” he said.

If we secretly finance ruling party and opposition parties of our host foreign nations, we could use influence the political decision of our host nations to favour Biafra
