Jobs/Vacancies › Re: FAAN Recruitment 2015 - My Tales Of Woe Part 1 by kunle75(m): 10:34am On Mar 20, 2015 |
naira0: I got the highest insult of my life yesterday at the Enugu center, Federal Road Safety Command, Udi, where I was scheduled for interview with Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
I got a text on 17th March, 2014 inviting me over and I swiftly honored the invitation. On my arrival at the Enugu center, numbers were assigned to us according to our order of arrival. But afterwards, the FRSC men started their own private selection by introducing their loved ones who had no numbers, thereby distorting the number system earlier implemented. But that did not upset me until when my group was supposed to go for the screening process.
Time check was past 5pm and all of a sudden a list came out from nowhere and candidates were invited in batches to check the list. There were people who couldn't find there names despite their high score, others who did find theirs but scored lower than 70% were asked to leave the compound. This became more frustrating having witnessed tons of candidates who didn't pass too comfortably but who had been screened earlier that same yesterday.
Well, having come that far, nobody was willing to leave. We decided to hang around to see how it all plays out.
Later on, the FRSC officers devised strategies and forcefully pushed us out of the compound. I was the first casualty of this unfair treatment as FRSC officials treated me like a complete tout. After a little protest, I acted the gentleman and quietly left the compound. I was outside when I saw others who had been physically harassed, and a few others taken to their cell, by FRSC officers probably acting on their own authority, doing what the interview coordinators never instructed them to do.
Sadly, the FRSC Commander, Mrs Emeordi gladly watched events unfold as her officers physically harassed innocent candidates. Men and women were thrown out of the compound like criminals. Remember it was the FRSC officers doing all this. Never did we hear from the main coordinators or officials of FAAN. We didn't even see any of them with our eyes. After all this experience i do hope you know that everything rise and fall on leadership . please vote wisely this time so as to prevent further occurrence of such ugly treatment |

Segeggs: what goof? If not that our reasoning as nigerians has been so bastardized by our corrupt leaders that we can't see how the president's visit is connected to the robbery(not saying he perpetrated it).
Robbers of such calibre do not operate without solid information. How well do you think they can operate when they get info from the police themselves about how majority of their men will be at alert concerning the president's visit? Maybe these robbers have been studying the trend of mr president's visit and must have noticed how concentrated on him the nigeria police are whenever he visits any state, a thing they took advantage of.
It's just so sad that here in nigeria, we ignore little signs that might lead to the solving of big cases.

Volunteer service in your area of interest will be a good start. e.g in my own case i have always wanted to do something info tech so i took courage to approach some internet service provider company's,though it took me time before i could get a place but the bottom line is that i eventually got a place and the rest was history. Also look for mentor and attend seminars that will develop your mind it helps, but if u sit at home and waiting for manners you might wait till only God knows. |
Politics › Re: No Gains For Almajiri Schools’ Graduates – Fashola by kunle75(m): 9:19am On Mar 16, 2015 |
AreaFada2: .
Almajiri schools are meant to combine elements of Western education with their typical Madrasa education in a controlled environment.
Should we leave impressionable youngsters at the mercy of radical clerics to fill their minds with hate for every moderate person including fellow Muslims? 1.4 million people did last JAMB, should people not aspire because we don't have 1.4 million places in uni/poly/monotechnics? Or because all graduates cannot get Shell BP jobs upon graduation?
Did any other president/HoS proffer a better solution to Almajiri issue since 1960?
In all prosperous countries worldwide, are all kids not compulsorily in school up to age of 14 to 16? Failure of previous governments contributed to the huge population Boko can recruit from. Should we not start doing something to prevent similar stuff, 20 years from now?
Or you think it should be all about fire brigade approach of here & now? You made a point on the Almajiris issue but my main concern is which sector of our society will employ the graduates of those schools when they are through with their education?Abi they will also be thrown into the over saturated labor market? And i don't think such schools are also enough reason to score a cheap political point as i believe education is a right of every kids be it home or abroad, and that's what i think fashola is trying to point out. |

theoctopus: The first and most important gain of basic education is not skills acquisition. Non of us acquired any skill in primary school.
the most important gain is to give the child a basic foundation for life. to open their minds to modern society and give them the ability to reason independently and rationally. Even boko haram knows this that is why they hate it. Since Fashola doesnt know this, then its sad to say he is an olodo In as much as i agree with your jabs on Fash to an extent , Please do you by any chance have a glance at the Almajiris school curricular?. If yes can you please tell us your findings, maybe that will help our collective intelligence and criticism of the govt and the opposition. because whatever they learn at their formation stage will go along way as you and i know. |
