Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Its Either You Are On First Class Or 2:1.... by kunle75(m): 1:09pm On Oct 25, 2015 |
Tbliss12: Its so pathetic and demoralizing that we leave in a country where certificate is the most sort after by our indigenous firms and even foreign firms. I sat down after going through NYSC and My parents are already looking at me in 3D as regards what's next.
I submitted my spiral bind C.V but the Secretary of that firm quickly glanced through my details but was disappointed to see 2:2 (3.32 CGPA) which stated in it and told me straight-up that I shouldn't be expecting a call!! I was pissed off, do u mean 3.32 CGPA is a poor result? I just went out and up till now after 3month no call from them.
The question is where are we going in this country? Two(2) factors all companies display while placing recruitment adverts; Your Age (24yrs nd below) and supposed good grade (1st class or 2:1). Now tell me are graduates with 2:2 really that lazy while in school? The Answer is simply 'NO' so many factors are really involved, I've seen a brilliant guy in school who felt sick on the day of his set last papers which sucked his GP heavily.
If you've got your 1st class or 2:1 and you are gainfully employed in a cool company with good pay lucky you and I wish you all the best, for those still looking out for a good job the lord shall answer "OUR" prayers but doing something with your saved Allawee is not a bad idea anyway!!
Happy Weekend!!
Tbliss12 i will agree with you to an extent, because your case is similar to mine. i left school with 3.30 CGPA and age was even a disadvantage for me as i was alread clocking 33yrs when graduating in 2004 but i do not allow that to deter me. 1.Think of using internet to your own advantage e.g i joined nairaland as early and i was able to see what other people does to work over there own tribulations. 2.You can start thinking of volunteering your time, knowledge and skills to get more experience and create opportunity for yourself. All these are things i did during my time and today with the help of God i can beat my chest that things are good and will still be better for me. Thats the little i can remember for now. |

Family › Re: My Marriage Is Crashing, I Think I Hate Him...Help by kunle75(m): 12:15am On Oct 24, 2015 |
90love: I've dated my husband for 5years but only traditionally married for 5 months. For most of our relationship we have had financial difficulty but always manage to keep our head above water.
I'm pregnant and have gestational diabetes meaning sometimes i get very weak so I've been unable to work properly, I am also a final year nursing student. The truth is 80% of the time it's me that bail us out of bad financial crises, my husband has not been able to keep a stable job for as long as I've known him and when he gets his fast money he lavishes it, he doesnt think of the home rather he thinks of clubbing, drinking etc. I never look into his pockets as i think its rude to count people's money but the minute he swindlea his money away he starts to count my money to fund his things such as petrol, club, hosting his family coming from nigeria.
And he has 5 sisters, his young ones are very ill mannered dont do house work or even say good morning. They all take turns throughout the year to come to my house and spend 2weeks to one month Including his mother though i can't complain about her because she's his mother even if she was the worst i can manage her.
None of the above has really bothered me until i came to the realisation that im going to be a mother in less than 18 weeks and i have someone else to care for that is more important. I'm starting to think this man doesn't really love me because when i was terribly sick before finding out about my low iron and diabetes i couldnt get out of bed but he never checked on me instead he would spend all evening and night out with friends and all day sleeping, watching tv and looking for quick money.
I decided to return to my parents and have been here for 2+ months. I am properly looked after and it's only 20minutes away, my so called husband never calls to check on me, he has only initiated phone calls twice and he's asked me for money both times for one thing or another. He has never called my parents to greet them or thank them, it's like he abandoned his responsibility, he openly tells me not to come back because he can't cope with my illnesses.
He's very dissmissive and uncaring but he is also like that with his own family. He never calls them. They're always begging him to call them or i beg him to at least call his mum. I always blame his upbringing because he grew up very entitled with everything handed to him, he doesnt know the value of hard work.
Now we're in a major financial crises because he decided to leave his job. We can't pay the house rent and i have no way of bailing us out because i haven't been active at work due to sickness. I have been looking for a way out but he can't even hold a conversation with me about it. The minute i say something about our current finances, he starts threatening me to switch off the phone and raises his voice (i equally raise mine I'm not innocent because I've had enough) I'm so fed up of him and even the marriage. I don't see how he can ever grow up and i feel like im dragging a dead horse.
Whenever there's crises he becomes very mean and he can't cope, I'm always the strong one and have to find money just so he can be nice to me, which sounds pathetic. He comes from a very good home but blames all his emotional problems on not having his dad in his life but i am not excited to see the kind of dad he will be for his own child. I feel like i made a mistake marrying him. I have been as supportive as i can be, i dont rub things in his face, i always try and maintain a happy home but I've had enough! How do you fix a situation where you don't respect your husband anymore? I don't believe he deserves my respect apart from him being a financial burden, he's also a serial womaniser i just got tired of doing csi so i turn the other way. I am so fed up and spiraling into deppression the disappointment to both of our families will be huge I've never imagined having a child in a broken home. If this is worth fixing i dont know where to start because my heart is resenting him. How do i explain to people that im leaving my husband of only 5 months?!!! \ Dont wait untill u died of depression my dear sister a broken marriage is better than a dead relative. Think twice before u wake up one morning and are long gone |

iamdotune: I don't know what to call this, an art of implication or fraud.
My dad and I were coming back from office, we saw a police man that stopped us and pleaded to carry him to his check point, my dad being a kind man allowed him in and then told me to come and seat with him at the back seat so the official can seat in the front with the driver. We never got to any check point before the policeman said he's okay here that he should alight..
We dropped him, then we saw two bullets rolled down from underneath the front seat to my dads leg, we were not conscious, he was like what a pity this man forgot a bullet, we couldn't turn back and give the bullet back so he took it and threw it out from the window. We got to police checkpoint they stopped us, asked for some particulars, though our glass was tinted they asked for that too, the man checking the particulars insisted it was a stop and search we should come down, then I started thanking God that what if we never found the bullet..
They searched and searched and found nothing they made a signal and one guy went a feet ahead to make a call, came back annoyed then my dad knew what was going on, I'm pretty sure he never thought of the bullet then he said haven't you searched enough and then they let us go.. That was wen he said did they want to implicate me or what when i was thinking they forgot a bullet..
It's not a joking stuff o.. Please be security aware i have long gone stop helping people i dnt know been a uniform man of not. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Sordid Experience As A Female Lawyer Job Hunting. by kunle75(m): 10:28pm On Oct 16, 2015 |
queenfav: My joy knew no bounds when my landlord's wife called a lawyer she once worked with to get me an interview appointment with his firm. Despite my tiredness after the POP ceremony, I managed to wake up early to get there by 8.am. My hopes were high with the possibility of getting a job barely 24hrs after POP. That's how I waited till 10.am o, before the man showed up. He ushered me into his office, and the interview began.
First off, I pride myself as a lady who dresses decently both for corporate and for casual occasions. So, this wasn't a case of immoral dressing on my part. That's how the managing partner interviewing me started looking at me to the point of me wondering if something was amiss. The next thing he said was, "you look really smart, and pretty. I like you already counsel."I just mumbled "thank you Sir". As a lawyer, he asked some pretty tough scenario based questions, which I scaled through by giving my legal opinion. He then asked for my credentials, which I proceeded to give him. That was when the man proceeded to leave his seat and placed his hand on my shoulder. I was so pertrified! I shook free and he got the message that he should keep his hands to his damn self.
The interview then took a personal turn. He started asking about my relationship status. I quickly responded that I was engaged. His reply was "me too am married, can't you see my ring", I like you a lot...you are a very pretty lady. I am sure a lot of judges are fighting over you in this state. Your credentials are great, you seem smart, just my kind of woman..what if I want to date you?". I was so shocked!! That was when I told him straight off that I don't date married guys, let alone one who may become my boss. Also that I am in a very committed relationship and don't condole cheating. He was a bit stunned, but took it in good faith. He asked a few other questions before ending the interview, saying his other partners would interview me on monday, that's when I will know if I am getting the job.
This experience left me very shocked and sad, that an interviewer would blatantly ask me out. Whatever happened to work ethics and morality? I just hope I don't get experiences like this again. Its very insulting and demeaning to say the least. Please, Nigerian men this is so wrong. A woman should be interviewed and hired for her brains and academic intellect, not because she is pretty and you just want a new plaything. I was so close to insulting him, I just had to keep calm and address the issue in a very firm way. May God help all female jobseekers o. If there's anything I am not ready to do is to sleep with any man, because he is in a position to give me a job. Not after 6 years invested into my legal career. Not now, not ever! God will bless you for that bravity you put up even in the face of uncertainty. Your job is on the way,and by the way i can also advise that you start looking at giving voluntary service to gain experience and develop your skill set such that you don't appear too desperate to your would be employers . However continue to hold your head up and high your miracle is on the way. |

2. By law you can carry an amount less than $10000. If you plan to carry more than $10000 you will need to declare it to custom at point of departure. I will advise that carry maybe 1000 euro in cash and the rest on you master/visa card. Thanks for the info sir,i just want to be sure that there is no minimum amount to which one can move with except for th maximum which is 10k. Thanks |

jabbok: Kogi Guber: Audu will return the N11bn he stole if elected - APC Chairman
Kogi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo, has assured Kogi people that his party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship poll, Prince Audu Abubakar, would return the over N11 billion he allegedly stole while in office.
Audu is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, for misappropriating N11 billion of the states’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003.
Responding to the questions from the media regarding Audu’s 11billion naira EFCC case, he said “Nobody is a saint. No governor can claim he has not done any malpractice or stolen anything during his time in the office.
“We heard of Saraki’s case, even Tinubu is being accused of stealing funds but the truth is that Prince Abubakar Audu has pledged to return the money to the Kogi treasury when he gets elected on the November 21st, yes he will return the 11billion naira or even more than that and that will add to the Kogi economy”.
Ametuo, who rated Audu’s first term in the office more than the current government of Capt. Idris Wada, added that Audu deserved the electoral votes of the Kogi people due to his experience and achievements in his first time at the Lugard House. .

Romance › Re: I'm In Love With A Married Man. by kunle75(m): 8:36am On Sep 23, 2015 |
VICTORIA91: Dear NL,
I'm 25 years old, I met this guy online via chatting and before i knew, we met and we fell deeply in love. This guy is irresistible when we met and i never prayed for something more, because he was so caring, lovely and loving, not only that he is so tall and handsome as i have always prayed for. After a month we knew each other better and every minute i rang him up, he later told me and revealed to me everything about him, because he is not the flamboyant type of guy, i hardly notice that he is loaded.
At age 33 he has a lot of properties and work with a Ministry in Lagos, seconded employment with one int'l institution, he got me int'l passport and took me out of Nigeria shore for the first time in my life. I am from an average family and I'm not easily moved with material things, I'm a working class lady earning moderate salary and living well, i had a relationship before him but not a stable one.
He later revealed to me that he has something to tell me that might tear us apart, i made up my mind since it would not lead to my death, i bet i have reached my bus stop, because he is also in love with me. What a perfect match!. Until the day he bursted it out that he is married with kids and he was sweating and breathing so restlessly, waiting for me to breakup with him, i reassured him i will still love him at that, he explained he impregnated the girl and his family forced him to marry the girl...in short, three kids, two boys and a girl from the woman,(first boy and a twins).
I almost fainted, but pretended as if all is well, at least he still managed to tell me to let me decide to continue or not. We both continued and this month make our 6th month and he is already talking about our marriage, he tried divorcing the first wife, but get warned to let her be to make peace reign, i noticed he loves me so much and also loves his children too well too. He is traveling out soon to study for his PH.D. He wants me to get pregnant for him and do the needful with my family and declare his intentions of taking me as his second wife to his first wife and family...But at this stage i have doubting mind maybe i'm ready to go on or not..i don't feel like ruining the woman's home, and i don't feel like losing this my sweet love, he is not forcing me and he wants me to decide for myself....
Please help me dearies, abuse are allowed at least maybe it will straighten my brain..but i sincerely love him, he promised to settle me down in another state and assured me that all will be well. The issue is i'm so CONFUSED. You are simply irrational and a thief, just wait and see the fire you are playing with after you married him.imagine if he can do that to a woman like you and you think all is well for now. It will dawn on you soon |

Politics › Re: OPC Condemns Killing Of DSS Operatives By Pipeline Vandals by kunle75(m): 4:08pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
OnankpaBa: The Director of Media and Publicity of Oodua People’s Congress, (OPC) led by Otunba Gani Adams, Barrister Yinka Oguntimehin, has condemned the gruesome killing of 10 members of State Security Operatives by pipeline vandals in Isawo, Ikorodu , Lagos state.
Oguntimehin in a release made available to the media in Lagos on Thursday described the action of the vandals as “highly condemnable” and “brazen in its criminality which is injurious to the national psyche only perpetrated by sub – human beings who are not fit to live.”
He lamented that, “it is sad that some miscreants who are being financed by a sinisterly powerful and deadly oil mafia have put paid to the lives and brilliant carriers of 10 wondrous well trained members of the Department of State Security Services.”
Oguntimehin pointed out that the death of those men of honour at the point of service in such a gruesome circumstance was a pointer to the fact that the war against pipeline vandals is not a tea party’s affair which can be taken or approached with kid’s glove
“The death of the bright DSS operatives though sad and sorrowful is a testimony to the fact that the war against pipeline vandals and protection of our common wealth should not be localized within the confine of the regular security agents alone “
“This unfortunate event should kindled our sense of perception and reasoning and task patriotic feeling in us to always treat national issues without sentiment.”
He charged the Federal government that it, ”must realized that oil pipeline vandalism has grown from being a past time of petty and tiny miscreants of the society, it is has assumed an organized high level criminality dimension being controlled by powerful and blood tasting mafia who cannot not be dislodged solely by the regular security agencies.”
Mr Oguntimehin suggested that “it is high time for the Federal government to stop being mono focal in its effort at putting a stop to the activities of vandals with the regimentation to the belief that only the regular trained security agencies can do it. ”
He pointed out that, “The recent , three months monitoring of the pipeline by private groups has proved to all that the engagement of the so called irregular or the socio – cultural groups brought modicum of stability and sanity to pipeline vandalism. This is a pointer to the fact that the war against pipeline vandalism should not be restricted to the regular armed forces.”
“As it is , the Federal government should confront this dare devilry act of pipeline vandalism by involving both the regular armed agencies and the socio-cultural groups which have been tried and successfully monitored the pipelines without major calamity and waste of human resources like this.”
He therefore called on the Federal government to set up a dual joint action task force which should include the regular security agencies and the socio-cultural group to combat the deadly activities of pipeline vandals in Nigeria.
Barrister Oguntimehin while commiserating with the Nation over the death of the DSS operatives tasked the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the gruesome murder.

Romance › Re: He Ran Away And Never Came Back After Our Wedding Introduction, Help! by kunle75(m): 1:03pm On Sep 14, 2015 |
AmicableEd: Please help me, i need to know what people in my shoes would do if this had happened to them.
I had a great love story. Yes, it seemed then. The man came like a rolling stone and hit me so so badly and left me. He felt his pre determined action was accomplished, while l was left nearly a fool.
We met through my close friend. He saw my picture on her Display picture on BBM and pressured her to link him to me.
That was how we got talking. Before you know it he asked me to be his woman. I was glad because l loved him. The attractions was not spontaneous. It grew against all odds.
People cautioned me saying he looked more of a playboy only ready to break hearts. I confronted him with all these things. To my surprise, he did not hide who he was. To him, that was his past. He had ran away completely from it.
I admired his 'sincerity' and 'honesty'. And l felt that truly many of us had had an ugly past, and when you say you have come to Jesus, and you are seen behaving like a follower of this Christ, who then can condemn you?
This made me grow to like him more. Do l say like? I think he swept me off my feet.
Then he proposed in a dramatic way and we had a beautiful introduction between our two families. Even the way it was packaged, it was more like a wedding ceremony, that you would not expect another.
But that was the way he wanted it. He was traveling out of the country, and would start processing my papers from then, so l was made to believe.
I am 25years old but God, l have seen deceits. I have experienced broken heart. Despite the fact that l prayed. I thought l prayed and received direction.
However, the happenings after the introduction proved otherwise.
I now got to understand that he asked for the elaborate introduction ceremony because he was applying for a marriage visa in UK and he needed pictorial evidence.
I learnt he had already got a fake wedding certificate but needed me to do an appearance for him.
His intention was that once he was out of the country he would cut off all communications between us and leave me waiting endlessly for him. God is gracious.
My supposed fiancé was expected to process the traveling documents for both of us, but he had gone to the embassy for the interview. Yet he kept me from knowing this. Now, it is almost a year after the introduction ceremony, l have not heard any word from him.
You would say where are his family members in this?
When we were dating, he was the one coming to meet me. We stayed in different but close states. He knew all my family but l only got to know his own on the introduction day.
One friend of his who said he did not want to hide anything from me because he sensed l am too decent to be treated in this manner, had to open up to me on many things. He confessed most of them, on getting to know me felt bad that such was being done to me.
One of them was the way my lover tried setting me up, using another friend of his to toast me and work on me to see if l would fall for the ploy. He wanted to use that as a strong reason for leaving me, that he caught me with another man.
He failed. But l am no more engaged.
My parents are not into the know now. They felt we were passing through a phase as we have some irreconcilable issue we are still working on. Please tell me. How do l tell family members and friends who witnessed the ceremony and those who had heard about it that l have been left unprotected. No one to call my own. That l am starting again. But, is it not too soon?
The whole thing looks like a bad dream? Let me quickly wake up from it, Lord.
The shame!
This is my true story. I am devastated that l could fall for a 'sucker'. I was blind and deaf to all signals received prior our introduction.
Now, l am alone. Where do l go?
I can not stand to hear,'So you have seen what we were telling you.'
Help me.

The way he goes about it is even heartbreaking, he does it like his into a love relationship with them and not just for fun.
There is this particular girl that he calls like 3 times everyday because I check his call log and saw they keep in touch more than twice everyday. I stupidly called the girl and warned her to stay clear off my man and she confessed he didn't tell her he was married, I confronted my hubby and he was forming defensive and was telling me dat am accusing him wrongly and he will soon start cheating. I called the girl back in the evening and she told me that even as am calling that his call is entering her phone, that he called earlier to beg her to give him chance to explain..The next day I left with my children to a far away state and he pleaded that he will change and all that. The issue is that he continued with this shameless behaviour, our live-in nanny later confessed to my cousin last month that he approached her and I was so devastated. He knelt down and begged and I easily forgave him..
Forgive me for my long episode but I really need your help on how to punish him cos I went to his call log yesterday and saw the same girl that made me take the risk to leave with my children to another state calling him again and he is reciprocating the calls..his a very jealous person, he goes crazy when a male friend calls me..I want to make him pass through all the pains I have endured all these years.. What do I do pls? please its better you pray than to cheat or punish him in any way cos you will be at the receiving end at the end of the day. trust me |
Travel › Re: My Shocking Experiences In Public Buses----ladies Be Very Vigilant! by kunle75(m): 2:19pm On Sep 02, 2015 |
Mspread: Dear Friends,
I am here to expose the acts of some guys who indulge in silly acts in public buses and also to seek how these evil acts can be curbed. I dont know the section to post this, so please Mods you can help by channeling to appropriate section. Thank you. Please find below my experiences:
Two months ago, i boarded a bus home after work on a friday night. I was so exhausted due to workload at the office and also the struggle to get a bus. I managed to get settled in the bus as the seats were so tight. I was seated directly behind the driver by the window. As we were transiting, I tried to chat with my friends on BBM so I wouldnt sleep off. I hardly sleep when transiting but that day I was too tired to even chat so I kept my phone inside my bag and placed it on my laps, then i rested my head on the driver's seat to take a short nap as my destination is still far. I boarded the bus from iyanoworo going to Ikorodu.
While sleeping, I felt something on my b**bs but I thought it just some imagination and then i dozed off again. I felt same thing again then i noticed that the guy sitting beside me was actually touching my b**bs but I wasnt so sure so I pretended i was dozing again and as soon as he repeated the act, i held his hand but he quickly dragged off his hands. I was too shocked to believe . I was perplexed. I couldnt say a word. I gave him a stern look and I told him to adjust himself. The reason I couldnt shout was because I didnt want to be embarassed by the passengers. The guy could actually lie about it as there were no evidence and the passengers were mostly men in the vehicle. I was just shaky and the guy was just humming along with the music been played in the bus and nodding his head like nothing ever happened. He alighted at the next bustop. Then, I promised myself that I would be more vigilant in the bus.
But this recent one really shook me . I boarded going to CMS around 5:30am last Monday. I sat at the back sit and here came this guy who sat beside me. He was well dressed, had his suit on his hands and he was putting on recommended glasses. As we moved, the chilly breeze blew across our faces which made about 80% of the passengers sleep. I dint sleep as usual but I wasnt comfortable because I was sick over the weekend so I was still feeling feverish. I dropped my bags on my laps and was trying to just BE when i felt something on my laps. I thought it was the heavy loads i put on my laps so i readjusted. The bus I boarded was on high speed making so much noise and bumping into different potholes without caution. So i was really uncomfortable. To cut the long story short, as we got to CMS Ajah park, the man that sat on my left side alighted which made me shift to his position. Then this guy also shifted closely beside me. I wondered why he sat that close when there were spaces but I ignored it since it didnt disturb me. As we got to our final destination, I carried my bag up so as to prepare to come down, Lo and Behold, this well dressed guy had his left hand on my laps just underneath my bags where my kitty lies while he had his suit on his second hand. I was so furious. I shouted at him, insulted him, asked him what he was doing. He didnt even mention a word, he was just murmuring. When we got down, I held him and was shouting but then what would that do? He just kept on walking away and he told me am embarrassing myself. I felt humiliated and assaulted. I was bitter. Some men asked me what happened and i explained. They said I should just ignore him and go so I dont embarrass myself and that I should go and pray. I was so sad that I almost cried . He wasnt even remorseful.
But i thank God i anointed myself that morning. This is what I do every morning before I step out, I also take a shot of the anointing oil and pray with it. It is a kingdom mystery that I partake in. So whatever evil he might have attempted, It has been destroyed by the anointing. Ladies, please be very sensitive and vigilant in public buses. These monsters are out there. Its strange but true. Only God knows if they do it for diabolical purposes. I had a lot of questions running through my mind: Since when was his hand on my laps because I still adjusted for the other man to come down? How come I didnt even notice not until we almost alighted? How did his hands get there? God will definitely judge him.
Ladies, Please do share your experiences if you have encountered such before so as to serve as a warning to others. Responsible men in the house, is there a drive that makes some guys behave like that or you think its just for diabolical purposes. Your comments are highly appreciated. Thank you.
