Politics / Re: Ipob And Politics Of Land Grabbing by kutchs: 5:48pm On Jun 26, 2020
Bulleye:
Land grabbing is the contentious issue of large-scale land acquisitions: the buying or leasing of large pieces of land by domestic and transnational companies, governments, and individuals. This is the definition of land grabbing according to Wikipedia.

The foetus inside its mother's womb in Nigeria knows Biafra is out of bond to non - Igbo. It is exclusively for Ndigbo and it is not in the news that non - Igbo are laying claim to any parcel of land in the south east. It would be suicidal for any non - Igbo to be contesting parcel of land in South East. All south east of Nigeria is secuely held in the hands of Ndigbo. They are comfortable owning their land and without threat from any side.

Presently Ipob is displaying show of force all over the south east. Biafra is for the Igbo and Igbo only. Should push come to shove in Nigeria Ndigbo scattered all over Nigeria have a place to call home: Biafra. However there is bone of contention that is splashed all over the internet and is given so many people concern.

Oduduwa land is being contested by Ndigbo. According to Ipob both Igbo and Yoruba are co - owners of Oduduwa land. Ipob has been rolling out figure after figure to defend their claim. They are are threatening hell and brimstone over the ownership of Oduduwa land. It is an irony that Ipob can lay claim to an inch of other ethnic nationalities homelands while fighting tooth and nail to preserve their right over Biafra.

Should Nigeria disintegrate as Ipob is agitating for, Biafra is in no contention with any other ethnic nationalities, however Ipob is preparing to wreck havock in Oduduwa land. For a long time Ndigbo appear to have been preparing for Nigeria's break up as displayed in their agitation for Biafra. On the other hand Yoruba seem to believe in the unity of the country.

While Yoruba see Ndigbo as fellow Nigerians, Ndigbo however see themselves as invading force grabbing whatever they can lay their hand on. They look at Yoruba as unprepared for the crisis Ipob is about to unleash soon.

How far Ipob will go in its battle to claim Oduduwa land will depend on Yoruba. With disintegration of Nigeria as Ipob is championing, Yoruba may then understand the politics Ndigbo have been playing in Nigeria.

If Biafra is for Ndigbo with no contender, it is natural that Ndigbo should let Oduduwa land be without contender.
The amount of hate in your heart for the Igbo is legendary and if you don't retrace your steps, it will kill you.

The last person that will be described as a land grabber is onye Igbo. He comes to your land, offers payment for your land you have put on sale. He doesn't force you to sale of you ain't interested. So I don't know how that constitutes land grabbing.

In business, of there's no seller, there will be no buyer. A person buys what he sees on the market and that's basically the Igbo.
If you ain't happy he's buying, then stop selling.

Again, inspite of the marginalization of the Igbo, they still remain the most prominent propagators of the Gospel of One Nigeria. Anywhere in Nigeria they find themselves, becomes home for them (which of course you guys are using against them). He buys pand and builds his house or business and lives start.
By so doing, he contributes to the growth of the economy of the area, I don't know which other Nigerians do that.

You're not in the academics, so I will excuse your ignorance of examination administration in the tertiary institution. You could have used any other analogy to drive home your point but chose one you've zero knowledge of.
A HOD is the internal examiner and supervisor of every examination in his Dept. He has the powers to cancel an examination in his dept if he has reasons to. That said, you can't conduct examination in a dept without the HOD and he can declare it illegal by withholding his signature and the rwsuktiof such examination won't stand.

There's no law on the curfew but just a directive. The FG may have directed 10 pm to 4 am but still it allows state governments room to apply it to suit their own peculiar situation. So to that effect, there's no conflict.
Again I ask, what about states that don't observe the curfew, has the FG killed such state govts? This is why people are calling for state police. If the police can't respect a sitting governor but takes order only feom Abuja, even the state governor is at their mercy. It's unfortunate.

I can see people rushing to comment on this topic. If it’s about good things this government had performed people will neglect the topic or their comments will still be horrible. Am sure there will be 1 person out of all the people that condemned pmb on this that boko haram actions during goodluck Jonathan time would have sent him packing from his comfort zone. But thanks to pmb for at least reducing their actions to a minimal one compared to goatluck jona era when boko dominate all the north including Fct, Kano, Adamawa and co.
The rantings of a fool. You don't want people to condemn him for his cluelessness and incompetence in protecting the lives of Nigerians but want praises for the 'good' he's done. What exactly has he done well since he took over other than president over the massacre of millions of Nigerians?
What can be more important to the govt than protection of lives and property?
So you may know, Boko Haram has become more deadlier under Buhari than it has ever been. Under Jonathan, they were attacking soft targets like churches and civilain buildings but now they attack military formations with ease. How many military compounds have they sacked since 2016? I'm sure you don't know.

God will surely punish all those suppoting these calamity of a man. The blood of innocent Nigerians shed in these senseless killings will forever haunt them to death.

MinorityOpinion:
The main purpose of IPOB’s campaign of misinformation is to confuse many Igbos with contradictory lies that will be repeated here and there until Igbos do not know what the truth is. For years, Igbos have allowed IPOB to spread lies that have poisoned the trust between us and the rest of the ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

The cutting words of IPOB is worse than a bowstring. While a cut may heal, the cut of the tongue does not. Ultimately, what IPOB has succeeded in doing is stir up hatred between Igbos and the rest of Nigerians. So, I stand bold to state that IPOB is a disease; the lies and venom that they are vomiting through Nnamdi Kanu do not have to make sense to be successful as a disease.

C. Okonkwo
The only person working to stir up hatred between the Igbo and the rest of Nigerians is Buhari. How has Buhari giving the Igbo a sense of belonging in his govt? Hasn't he through action and words shown the Igbo the don't matter to him?

IPOB is fighting a just war, what the group is agitating for is their right protected by international charters. How has the govt handled their affair. You proscribed the growth whose activities have been largely peaceful and non violent but allow the murderous Fulani herdsmen to roam the streets of Nigeria wrecking havok.

My wife and I both work. She knows how much I get in a month and I know hers. Once salary alert enters I tell her and when hers enters, she tells me. We aren't obliged to do so but it has served us so well the past 12 years we've been married.

Yes, I don't control her spending, it's not because I can't and not because I earn far more than she does but because it's the fruit of her labour and she respects me for that. Before we engage in major projects from any source, we discuss it and agree. Openness with finances in marriage is very important.
Politics / Re: How Hypocrisy Of Civil Servant Is Draining Nigeria's Purse In Covid-19 Lockdown. by kutchs: 5:13pm On Jun 05, 2020
dokitalafa:
Straight to the point. Some might see this ranting but honest truth need to be stated the way it!

There has not been any deafening noise or protest against the economic lockdown we are experiencing due to the current lockdown imposed by the presidency over the Covid-19 pandemic mainly because the millions of civil servants across the federal, states and local government areas are getting paid for staying at home doing nothing for past two months or so.

You know why there has been no protest by them? Because whether you like it or not, the government at all levels are paying them salaries for not working for those period of time and so all other non civil service workers can go to hell

Imagine what would happened if the government had declared 'a no work, no pay' conditions due to the pandemic? Trust our civil servants to draw the sympathy of fellow Nigerian against the government at all level to resume work with immediate alacricity. There would have been protest across the length and breath of this country. That's when too much grammar that are not inside oxford dictionary supporting 'life must continue' stand of them

The truth is that a lot of Nigerians are selfish to the bones. Some don't value the economical welfare of fellow Nigerians. Just because you and your family are very comfortable doesn't mean every other person is!

Been in touch with some of my friends who are civil servants and a lot of them don't feel like getting back to work for meantime because to them, 'everywhere is still not safe due to the Corona pandemic as seen in daily figures released everyday by NCDC'

Imagine this very selfish, reckless and distasteful statement coming from some people because they are getting paid for not working or still have enough reserve to feed them and families but don't have any form of empathy for those whose livelihoods depend on daily income they get!

Is it not same America that has been the center of the Corona virus epidemic that has killed over 100,000 people now having their lockdown totally relaxed? Is it not same USA that we now have millions of people protesting on the street against racism with most of them not even bothering to wear facemask?

Compare that to our dear country where the wuruwuru livescore of Covid 19 figures are been dished out on a daily basis. Then you understand the selfishness of some people

Oh, you don't still know that we have been on technical lockdown since May 6th that Presidency announced partial ease?

Lets break it down

- Millions of students across primary, secondary, tertiary and even nursery/creche are totally on lockdown
- Airports that service millions of people on monthly basis is grounded
- Millions of legal related porfrssionals like lawyers, paralegal etc are grounded
- Millions of civil servants are grounded and so virtually no contacts to execute
- Interstate travels that supports millions are virtually grounded except those who are using strong head to do so

So in essence, the economy is on technical lockdown!

Don't get me wrong on the following
- Corona is real.
- Its important to keep safe.
- The lockdown was imposed by the Presidency
- Lockdown was necessitated to ensure the containment of the spread
- we don't have a strong healthcare system in Nigeria which was damaged by successive including the present one

The grouse here is the hypocrisy that stinks to heaven of our dear civil servants if they are not been paid for doing nothing for over two of stay at home.

And before you conclude whether it is hunger that makes me to write this 'ranting',
Your post here amounts to emotional blackmail against civil servants. Civil servants aren't the cause of the pandemic and they ain't at home by choice. Many aren't even happy with sitting at home and doing nothing so you don't have anything on them.

You can't compare this situation with a labour feud induce 'staying at home' where mostly govt is at fault for breaching agreements.

Again, the appointment letters of civil servants state that they will be paid once every month, so the govt isn't doing anything extra ordinary doing what it agrees to do.

Salary cut as is done elsewhere should be on terms agreed upon by the two parties. This unilateral decision to cut the salaries of workers is wicked and dictatorial.
As a result of the lockdown, many civil servants now have many depending on them for survival, thus if you cut the little they are getting previously, you compound their problems.
The war against Covid-19 can be won without having to cut salaries, but if salaries must be cut then the affected workers must agree to it.

Yes he be rude and uncouth sometimes, but he never had to wait to be asked to do something before doing it.
Obasanjo never outsourced governance, he took charge even if he didn't always got it right but at least he never shirk from his responsibilities.
Again, Obasanjo never compared himself with anyone, he took responsibility for his failings, he never blamed Abdulsalam Abubakar or the larger military community (which he's part of anyway).

Your last sentence show how you guys arrogate so much powers to yourself with a messiahnic complex.

1) IF Nigeria agree to insert secession clause in the constition, the secession will not be for only Igbo States but for ANY State that want to leave the Federal Republic of Nigieria.

2) Referendum for Biafra can not be approved in the ways you guys talk because there is no constituent part of Nigeria called Biafra.

Igbos States can unite after secession and call themselves Biafra or whatever name they like.

3) ANY State that want to secceed will then follow the laid down procedures e.g two-third majority vote in their Houses of Assembly ,approved by two-third majority of the National Assembly etc.

I've been reluctant to join this argument since it broke because for me it's needless as it is useless but I'm being provoked by your unintelligent comment to come in.
When I say your comment is unintelligent, I do not mean any insult but just stating it as simply as it's because you do not really understand what is involved in the question for self-determination.

First and foremost, your claim in no 1 above is wrong. The question to be asked is who is entitled to a claim to self-determination? The international community recognizes 'a people' as possessing the right though what characteristics such people must possess is still not settled yet.
States in the Nigerian context is a political construct established for administrative convenience. States delineate a people segments but a people which most people have come to equate with ethnic and national groups are both social, cultural and natural. Thus, states in Nigeria as currently structured don't have a right to self-determination but the 'people' or nations within the Nigerian state.

In no 2, while there may be any part of Nigeria called Biafra, there are however people who recognize themselves as Biafra. The issue now anyway isn't what they want to call themselves but if they have a right to self-determination and again a claim to self-determination.
Do the people who recognize themselves as Biafra have a right to self-determination? Yes
Do they have a claim (morally or otherwise) to self-determination? Yes.

The right to self-determination is one that's been recognized by United Nations in article 1, the African Charter of Peoples and Human Rights of 1981 and many other international charters, so it's not open to debate.

I'm sure you know the Igbo and Yoruba nations have been accepted as the 45th and 46th members of the UNPO, they didn't join as Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos, Ogun or Imo, Ebonyi, Anambra states but as the Yoruba and Igbo nations.

I'll be willing to educate you more on this if you show the willingness to learn. Thanks.

All you need to do to see whether what you call "their personal stories of tribalism" represent their views of the larger section of the people is to conduct a referendum. In every struggle there must be leaders or front men if you like, not everyone is going to speak at the same time but if you want to know whether the front men speak for the people, give the opportunity to voice out through a UN supervised referendum such as was done in South Sudan.
