There were strong indications on Sunday that the Presidency had imported two life support machines for use by ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua, preparatory, apparently, to his planned return later this week. A very reliable source in the aviation sector disclosed to our correspondents that the equipment arrived in the country from Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The source, who declined to be named due to the security implication of his disclosure, explained that one of the machines was for dialysis while the other would be for managing Yar’Adua’s heart-related condition. Our correspondents gathered that the machines were as big as those of Coca Cola vending machines. According to him, the arrival of the machines came exactly two days after two of the President’s children (a male and a female) and a grand child arrived from Saudi Arabia in a smaller chartered aircraft. Investigations revealed on Sunday that the children that arrived on the special flight on Thursday night were Musa and his sister Nafisat who is married to the Bauchi State governor, Alhaji Isa Yuguda. The President’s grandchild that was also on the flight is said to be Nafisat’s baby. Yar’Adua has seven children from Turai (five females and two males) and two from his second wife, Hauwa. It was gathered that the charter services aircraft which brought the President’s family could not bring the life-support equipment as planned, due to the huge size of the expensive machines. Our source said, “A bigger aircraft had to be arranged to fly the machines to Nigeria because the one that brought the children back to Nigeria was small.” The small aircraft, our correspondents learnt, belongs to a foreign airline that has a Nigerian as its chairman. b4 the 14days Yar'adua will send a letter to the National Assembly that jonathan should be made acting president, and the drama continues, |
Something is wrong if the Foreign Minister has not spoken to the President after Muttalab incident no worries FEC's time is running out all of them from Andoaka to Mduekwe will pack themselves and go the guy is not even sharp since he admitted to not talking to the president he should have just said our president is undergoing treatment and the Foreign Ministry is on top of things, he dey talk 10yrs experience rubbish! |
who knows the truth might even come out that Yar'adua has been dead! For Ojo Maduekwe to go on BBC and say he hasnt spoken with the President since left and even after dec. 25 attempt, the man might not even be alive again, Turai all your acts will soon be revealed |
what we were asking for was "acting president" thank God what we might get now will be a New President Goodluck I dont believe FEC has a choice now unless Yar'adua shows up before 14day which i doubt his era is over |
ABUJA— FOLLOWING the controversy surrounding the handing over to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan in a constitutional manner by President Umaru Yar’Adua, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, urged Yar’Adua to tread the path of honour by carrying out what was expected of him. He however did not state what was expected . Obasanjo who said God should punish him if he picked Yar’Adua as the nation’s President knowing well that he was not going to perform, stressed that as a President who was leaving, it was not going to augur well for the country to have a southern president succeeding him hence the choice of Yar’Adua as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. According to Obasanjo, “If you take up an appointment, a job, elected, appointed, whatever it is and then your health starts failing and you will not be able to deliver to satisfy yourself and satisfy the people who you are supposed to serve, then there is a path of honour you are supposed to take. There is a path of honour and morality and if you don’t know that then you don’t know anything.” Obasanjo who was responding to a question on why he gave Nigeria a sick President at the seventh Annual Trust Dialogue explained that prior to the emergence of the ailing president, three qualities were set out for who must be his successor. He gave them as enough intellectual capacity, sufficient personal integrity and enough broad mindedness to manage the affairs of Nigeria and the president had them. A lawyer in Abuja, Mr. Kayode Ajulo has filed a suit at the Federal High Court to declare that the telephone call to the British Broadcasting Corporation of Tuesday 12 January, 2010 by President Umaru Yar’Adua constituted a declaration under Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. In the suit filed last Friday, the lawyer is asking the court to declare that Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has become the Acting-President and therefore should be discharging the functions of the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation pending and the President would transmit another written declaration to the contrary. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201001171781557 |

The House of Representative members have decided to send a delegation to Saudi Arabia to discuss what it called “issues of national importance” with ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua, as protests mounted for him to stand down over his health. The reps who met in Abuja today, said there is a need to check the true state of the president’s health. The 58-year-old Mr. Yar’Adua is reported by close aides to be undergoing treatment for a heart condition in Saudi Arabia since November 23, a situation that has agitated opposition politicians and Nigeria’s civil society groups. The president has not been seen or heard from by Nigerians since he was flown out of the country on November 23, 2009 to be treated for acute pericarditis, an inflammation of the membrane around the heart. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/National/5510908-146/story.csp FINALLY |

We need to know the true status of Yar'adua's health the govt (PDP) owes the Nigerian public the truth!, cant we demonstrate or something this people are going to leave a failed state for the next generation |
This is becoming senseless how can we not know the condition of our President for 43days now. Nothing to show if hes alive or dead. This government has failed! everyone that is part of it has failed the Nigerian people, now we have been categorised among these freak countries What is wrong with this County? |
In my opinion US had 2 options one was to reduce the Visas given to Nigerians, the other was to increase checks on Nigerians coming in, however Nigerians bring in a lot of funds to the US, either for school or business or pleasure, so the best option was to increase checks, and i want to believe the checks is for mainly Nigerians flying local within the US, |
