If GJ can deliver steady power in the next 4months, he will surely be contesting 2011 and he will have my vote |
Zodiac61:When mutallab tried to bomb a plane, we have everything to do with managing nuclear threats! |
oge4real:I always suspected something was up between both of them, the way yar'adua avoided going for UN summit and rumour was because of Obama, plus obama too choosing to go to ghana, neways its good that era is over! |
A cting President Goodluck Jonathan will be received today in the White House by the US President, Mr. Barack Obama, at 5.45p.m after arriving Washington DC, at 9a.m (4a.m Nigerian time) this morning for the Nuclear Security Summit. Jonathan and his entourage, travelled late last night to the US on Nigeria Air Force 001, the Presidential jet. This is clearly an indication of the change in status of the acting president as the official aircraft of the Nigerian vice president is the Gulf Stream V. Taking a cue from the US system; only the American Presidents travel on the Air Force One. The US Vice President has his official jet which is Air Force Two. According to the President's itinerary obtained by THISDAY yesterday, Jonathan would be received at the Air Force Base, Washington DC by members of the Nigerian mission in US, led by Professor Adebowale Adefuye. US officials are also expected to be on ground to receive the Acting President. Jonathan will be accompanied on the visit by Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Deziani Allison-Madueke, and her counterpart in the Ministry of Finance, Mr Olusegun Aganga. Also expected to join the Acting President at the meeting with Obama are Adefuye, former Ambassador Hassan Adamu and Nigeria Ambassador to the United Nations, Professor Joy Ogwu. Tomorrow, the Acting President would hold a breakfast meeting with the Council on Foreign Relations and then have lunch with US Vice President, Joe Biden. Jonathan will also meet with the World Bank President, Robert Zoellick, at 3p.m from where he would depart for the opening ceremony of the Nuclear Security Summit at 4:30p.m. The Acting President would spend the whole of Tuesday at the Nuclear Security Summit. On Wednesday, according to the itinerary,Jonathan would have a breakfast meeting at the Center for Global Development and hold lunch with Corporate Council on Africa. A meeting had also been scheduled to hold between him and the President of ExxonMobil at 3p.m the same day. The Acting President is expected to depart US 6p.m on Wednesday for Nigeria after meeting with the Nigerian community at 4p.m. The US trip also marked Jonathan’s first official trip outside the country since he became Acting President. The presidential jet, a Boeing 737-700, was converted to BBJ- a business jet. It has the capacity to travel 10 hours without stopping to refuel. The fuel capacity can therefore not enable the plane to make a direct flight to the US. What this means is that the jet would stop-over either in Darka, Senegal or London, United Kingdom where it is expected to refuel before it continues with the trip. On Jonathan’s entourage are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajuimogobia (SAN); minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Aliyu Idi Hong, Minister of finance, Olusegun Aganga, Wakili Adamawa, Amb. Hassan ÆAdamu, Dr Emmanuel Egbogah, Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum; Dr Martins Uhomoibhi, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs and oil magnate, Mr Femi Otedola. Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke who on official duties is in Los Angeles, United States will also join the acting president’s team in Washington. Five state governors are also in the entourage, amongst whom is Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State, who had earlier gone to the US. His advance team, THISDAY learnt, had left for the US since Friday. Members of the advance team included senior special assistant on strategy, Mr. Oronto Douglas and his colleague in charge of media, Mr. Ima Niboro. All things being equal, former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, will return to Nigeria before the end of May this year, going by laid down arrangement, Sunday Tribune can authoritatively reveal. Ribadu, it was learnt, is one of the few Nigerians scheduled to meet with Acting President Goodluck Jonathan in Washington, United States, shortly after meeting with the US President, Barak Obama, during his trip to America. It was learnt that the former EFCC boss has been part of forces that facilitated the visit of Jonathan to US purportedly to hold meeting with Obama and top officials of the United State’s government. A former aide of Ribadu corroborated this report in a chat, disclosing that his boss had started preparing his papers for homeward journey, having been cleared by the government of Nigeria. Ribadu, who is currently a consultant to the United Nations on anti-corruption matters, has been penciled down for a political appointment, a reason his return to Nigeria is now regarded as a faith accompli. The former EFCC boss, it was learnt, has been considered for a special adviser portfolio where he would, oversee activities of the anti-corruption agencies, through which high profile anti-corruption cases in Nigeria would be reviewed. The Adamawa-born anti-corruption crusader had said repeatedly that he committed no crime, and hence never felt restricted in returning to Nigeria. Ribadu, against this background, made a surprise visit to Nigeria late last year when he stormed the residence of late Chief Gani Fawehinmi to condole with his wife and other family members, a visit reportedly facilitated by a Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana. The Police authorities had doubted his visit to the country, describing reports to that effect as a hoax until some national dailies published a photograph taken by Ribadu with members of Gani’s family. Ribadu left Nigeria on self exile almost two years ago having been hounded by security operatives in the days of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adau, having been exposed to sessions of humiliation starting with his demotion from the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police to a mere Deputy Commissioner of Police shortly after the exit of government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Aside the demotion, Ribadu was also humiliated at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), in Kuru Jos, when he was bundled out of a graduation ceremony he was to feature in, thus denying him the opportunity of collecting his graduation certificate after attending his officers’ course. I keep wondering how someone like Jonathan got involved with a party like PDP, and realised when he ran as deputy governor, PDP was yet to bring out their dirty politics and decide their ill brand ![]() leading to me blaming obasanjo for allowing the party disintegrate into a group of thieves and rogues! Jonathan might be able to rebrand the party if he achieves great success in turning Nigeria around within the next 12months. Watch out 20yrs time PDP can become the People's Party fighting for the common man - politics is really a funny game! |
@ikengawo Are you the Igbo version of Becommrich? pls show us the maps to prove Rivers state is richer than Ghana and recommend Rivers joining Ghana! ![]() |
@labiyemmy: No i think it was the part when he was staring at Hillary's face during her addressthank God Ajumogobia is in the Ministry now, and can represent the country better |
Did anyone see Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Yayale Ahmed signing the new bilateral agreement between Nigeria and the US. The man was looking so confused and disorganised. Hillary Clinton sef was looking dissapointed at who she was dealing with. I know he is not meant to represent Nigeria outside the Country, but because there was no Minister. His attitude shows the man should go and be rearing cattle instead of holding the position of a SGF ![]() |
My advice is you talk to her about it and let her understand how wrong it is, if it continues then im sorry she will rather be with the friend, then the big decision should come then, but have a detailed discussion with her GL |

What have you done in your own little way to aid the fight against corruption? Why not start an NGO against corruption, then try and contact Ribadu after that |
I think his work will be to advise GJ on control measures to reduce corruption and proper governance, I dont think he will have the power to instruct Farida to investigate anyone, I fear for his safety though, Nigerian Politicians are dangerous |
Welcome back Ribadu, all these politicians should start running out of the country or get ready for trial |
Another senseless post! |
