Carlosein:lol hope not |
Carlosein:lol, ok just poking fun. Carlosein:ok work hard o. |
I keep hammering and almost sounding like a broken jukebox that organised religion is 99% beliefI am trying to see how this is any different from what I have been saying. But even you have to know that some beliefs arise because of proofs, and that there have been sufficient proofs from Christianity. You however can decide if it is proof enough for you. That is why we have the Bible and non-christian writings for goodness sake. It is factual that a man named Jesus walked on earth, it is factual that he died on the cross, it is factual that his followers believed him to be the messiah. Now then we have to prove the belief of his followers, we do so by reading their writings. And then for thos ehwo grace has been given, even after the followers recorded the events that took place with this man's life, millions of others have also experienced proofs and have shared it with the world. Now when these proofs are in order and do not contradict each other, it is hard not to believe. So you may think that belief is something that can't be derived with proof, but in fact it is almost always derived with proof. You accept some things abotu science because it has been proven by someone else or at least that or those people claim to have proof of it. I was not there during the pre-cambrian and cambrain period but those who have "proofs" have written about it and I learnt it in my biology class. Atheists believe in the big bang when infact they didn't see the big bang and there isn't sufficient proof of the big bang. Should we then say that atheist have their own organised religion? (I say so really, they just don't know it). Most of what we all know is based on the findings of someone else (proofs) and their documentation of it. If you will read theirs and accept it why not read the writings of the apostles and accept it. Afterall it is a documentation of the events that took place in history. Claims need to be supported if they are to be taken seriouslyI do agree with you, but in the context of God, my response again would be the Pope's words. God isn't an inanimate object that can be experimented with. If you are trying to do so, then simply say that you are not trying to find God. Because you aren't. He isn't a scientific experiment, he isn't subject to your own conditions, if so, then you would be God and he would be an object. So truly you are not looking for God, but looking to make yourself God and him subject to your conditions and what you want. Now can we move on to the story of Achan?Yes we can!!! |
Carlosein:Lol, yes I am. I am confined to this bed for at least the whole day. It might be the flu, I didn't get a shot |
Carlosein:Lol, absolutely, gotcha. A friend of mine received a mail some days ago that was sent in february. lol. he sent me mail and i didn't receive it for a while. so it might still be on its way. |
Carlosein:YAAAAAA!!! WELCOME BACK *scratches head* Did he disappear? lol ![]() Carlosein:yup, let me know when u join so i'll tell you how to find me. Carlosein:hmm dats right, lawyer is on facebook? hmmmm lawwwwww, can you be my friend on facebook? |
Carlosein:Oh yeah, I can do that. Well here's one for everyone in purgatory. Carlosein:I didn't get it. |
Carlosein:I saw the pic, and all things are possible, you never know what's in ones heart, so he is very welcome to explore. But this is the perfect response. He should contact the parish imhotep:Lol, you certainly want this man to be scratching his head abi? |
open your eyes and see the world as it really is, there is much more to life than what your catholic faith tells you. have you ever heard about the suratul jinnus in the koran? go and find out about it before claiming to know things you have little or no knowledge about.Lol, I have read the quran. R u new to this thread? Because if you aren't you should already know this information by now. I know a lot about Islam, it's in my blood. I choose to be A Catholic Christian. My eyes are open, they were once blind when I didn't know the Lord, but oh how open they are now that I know him. how do you know that there are different demons with different powers? have you ever had an encounter with any? who told you that they are selfish? how do you know that a demonic world without love exist? are you for real?your assertions are completely ridiculous. pretending to know what you don't know is really the lifeblood of religion. . . .Once again Lol, you seem to think you know everything. I have followed your posts and all I can do is laugh at them and your ignorance of the world, you know a few things I can give you that, but dear you are quite lost on a lot, but hey you are human and so am I. The difference between me and you is that I rely on perfection and you rely on what you know will never be perfection. How do I know that there are different demons, I have experienced them in my life. I have econtered them and I am grateful to God, I once said to Chris that I have had experiences and I wish not to share it with people because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. I'd rather they believe without seeing. Demons have no love, if they did, they won't be demons, they would be angels. Love heals all things, with love one can conquer all things. If I love you, I won't hurt you, If I have love within me I won't hurt anyone. How can demons have love within themselves, if all they do is cause hurt? Sometimes I wonder about you "rational" beings. How can you be so irrational? Pretending to know what you don't know is really the lifeblood of religion? Well then I guess you have your own religion and you believe in it. You speak of yourself and don't even know it. |
Ok truly my heart is gladdened to see everyone who posted here, even those who came to make a mockery. God loves you too and so do we. Carl, I am sick and in bed pray for me. Everyone please remember everyone in your prayers. You are right Carl. We have to keep praying and stay faithful to Our Lord |
Thank You Lord for the lives of all these, catholics professing their faith in nairaland. My petron saint is first and fore most ,The Blessed Virgin mother, mother of sinners, the seat of wisdom, help of the afflicted, my other patron saint is St. Anthony of Padua, known for recovering missing items(OH GOD,IT REALLY WORKS). Oh I can't wait for the canonization of Blessed Mother Theressa, known for her exceptional love for the poor and the needy and of course Blessed Pope Johnpaul the 2nd.I can testify to their holy lives on earth.Isn't this the truth. My goodness, I have lost too many things and have found them thanks to him. are you quoting someone or you have a personal experience?both. I do know some men who don't want to enter that vocation because they just don't see the austerity with them. Maybe it's here in America, things are different in America, everything is different in America. Our society is in shambles, pray for us. |
Mine is St. Joseph for being the father of our saviour.the guardian of the mystical body of Christ - the Church. He guards us well as he guarded the physical body of Christ while he walked the earth. I love him. We don't give him enough credit though, he is the perfect example of a father on earth. |
@~Lady~Because the austerity seems to be vanishing. Some are caught up in their "knowledge" that they forget God. Bring austerity back. Let's not take away the mysticism. |
how are they in action? can you state how they operate on this forum?1) If I actually believe this, I would have to ask you, how do you know they won't respond to Christian prayer, have they ever tried Christian prayers on aljanu. 2) I find this very hard to believe because I know muslims who've become christians because the imams tell them they don't do stuff like this, so they go and find a priest and the priest performs an exorcism, and from them on they start believing in Christ. This is big in Egypt. 3) There are different demons with different powers, some more powerful than the others, and can easily torment the others, they're selfish and want to prove who has the most powers, there is no such things as love in the demonic family so they don't actually care for one another, and they would destroy each other quickly. That is probably what you are seeing in the muslim and hindu incantations. They are protecting their own territory. |
For those who say christian witches, muslim witches, hindu witches. Did it ever occur that these are the same spirits that are called different things in different places? Maybe there aren't christian witches, muslim witches, and all. Maybe there are just evil spirits and different languages with different names for them? @topic How would an atheist know that they are being attacked, if they don't believe it is real? The best way for evil to creep in is to make you believe it doesn't exist. So if you just say "oh it's not real" well you won't know it's there |
Chrisbenogor:Lol, ok o keep thinking that. Look we just know how to hide our thoughts. lol |
Chrisbenogor:I see you are hell bent on justifying yourself and your straying from the faith. If you were on the right path you wouldn't be searching or itching to discredit God. But if you want to take this on case by case, ok. So go ahead and bring it. Oh I am reading a book by Pope Benedict XVI titled Jesus of Nazareth. It takes us through Jesus' life and the events that took place and I am just in the second chapter and already learning so much. It breaks it down and ties things together that I would never have thought of. You might want to pick it up to read, just for the sake of it ![]() But here is something that he wrote that reminded me of you and several others on nairaland: This is talking about Jesus' 2nd temptation by the devil and his response to the devil "The point at issue is revealed in Jesus' answer, which is also taken from Deuteronomy: "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test" (Deut 6:16). This passage from Deutoronomy alludes to the story of how Israel almost perished of thirst in the desert. Israel rebels against Moses and in so doing rebels against God. God has to prove that he is God. The Bible describes this rebellion as follows: "They put the Lord to the proof by sayng, 'Is the Lord among us or not?'" (Ex 17:7). The issue, then, is the one we have already encountered, God has to submit to experiment. He is "tested," just as products are tested. He must submit to the conditions that we say are necessary if we are to reach certainty. If he doesn't grant us now the protection he promises in Psalm 91, then he is simply not God. He will have shown his own word, and himself too, to be false. We are dealing here with the vast question as to how we can and cannot know God, how we are related to God and how we can lose him. The arrogance that would make God an object and impose our laboratory conditions upon him is incapablle of finding him. For it already implies that we deny God as God by placing ourselves above him, by discarding the whole dimension of love, of interior listening; by no longer acknowledging as real anything but what we can experimentally test and grasp. To think like this is to make oneself God. And to do that is to abase not only God, but the world and oneself too." Amazing huh? You will never find God that way. |
Oby1:YOU'RE VERY VERY WELCOME |
Chrisbenogor:lol, come o which historical examples did you present? I didn't present the works of scholars. I actually presented my knowledge of the Jewish people and their culture and law. Knowing their full culture and law, there was no way she was sacrificed as a burnt offering. But I do agree the Bible does not explicitly state what happens to her, but with reasoning and knowledge of their culture and law it can be deduced that she was never given as a burnt offering. You would have a better position if you said she was shot with an AK47. Plain and simple, what you are concluding could never have been. |
Chrisbenogor:come who tell u sey it's easier for women? church workers are not employed, they volunteered. Priests are not employed either. |
I think it would be better for them to have that choice irrespective of them being priests. Havent you noticed the high number of child molesting cases among celibate prieststhat's the thing, there isn't a high level of molestation cases among celibate priests. we pay more attention to them because they are priests. there's a high level of rape, molestation, and all forms of sexual abuse from relatives and it is on the rise, but they're not priests so no attention is paid to them. there is a high level of pastors cheating on their wives by molesting children and sleeping with men, and women in their churches, but they don't pay any attention to them because they are not priests. So nope there isn't a high level, we just give it a lot of attention. I have spoken to a few priests and their response is, if I wanted to marry I wouldn't have become a priest. Now there are some who wish to marry and they are so minimal, but majority a big majority of them would tell you, why did i become a priest if i wanted to marry? I know several who were going to walk down the isle when they got the call, and they spoke to the ladies expecting a big deal, but the ladies just smiled and said ok as if they weren't affected, and they knew that that was where they needed to be. Priests are uncomfortable with these other priests that have done such idiotic and hurtful things and are angry because it has broken the confidence the people had. They are working hard to restore that confidence. We need to pray for them instead of looking for a "solution" |
karlie4nia:aww thank you. i only posted that because i know certain people here wanted to see her, but that's all they get. i don't mind posting pics of myself, i have rebuked all evil in Jesus name, but of my babies, no way. So carl you wanna get on fb so I can get this one down? pls? |
@ Chris Reading your post, I notice you put your own opinion into instead of focusing on what it actually is. What Sahel and I bring is the history, culture and law of these people, not our own opinions. In this instance we're the ones bringing the facts and you're the one bringing the opinion, weird huh? The Bible cannot be looked at from one verse alone, that is why I constantly say don't take things out of context. Everything in the Bible ties together, unfortunately when people interpret the Bible they pick one verse and run with it, instead of looking at the bigger picture. The bigger picture in this case being that Jephtah couldn't sacrifice his daughter evenif he wanted to, because as Sahel already said a sacrifice of burnt offering had to be male. So if this was a son, you're argument point may be considered, but the fact that she's male throws out of the question that she could have been used as a burnt offering. Also it is against the law that humans be used as a burnt offering, seeing that his daughter is human, that throws out your argument point again. Point blank she couldn't have been used as a burnt offering. If he did use her as a burnt offering you would have known, since that is a law of God and he would have rejected the offering and punished him for breaking his law. Another point you are trying to make is that God ordered the killing, not once did God speak in the passage. So all the points you are trying to make doesn't make sense or add up. But hey you already made up your mind. So it doesn't matter what Sahel and I say. You want to see what you want. |
The difference between the Bible and Quran. The Bible contains history of a people that included what we would call violence today. It doesn't command you to violence The Quran simply commands you to violence. |
@Olaadegbu thank you for your concern, please answer the questions I posed, dodging them does no good to anyone. For the many times you have insulted the Church, you should be able to answer questions to the truth since you seem to know them. SO please answer the question. Also about the Bible being the final authority, no where in the Bible will you find that. The Bible calls the Church (not the Bible) the pillar and foundation of truth. The Church came first then the Bible, the Church defined the Bible. The authority is from the Church. Christ didn't give scripture authority he gave apostles, men, humans authority. No where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the authority. The authority was given to the Church not the Bible. When Christ gave the power to forgive, cast out demons, and preach, he gave it to men not the Bible. So get it in order, the Church, then the Bible. The Bible was compiled for the Church, not the Church for the Bible. The Bible is accepted today based on the authority of the Church. If the Church didn't say that those books were to be considered scripture you wouldn't consider them scripture today, if this isn't true then why don't you consider every book that was written by the apostles as scripture, after all plenty of letters were written by them. So please stop misinterpreting the Bible and using it for your own gain. Now answer my questions. |
Oby1:yeah ur one of the people that are allowed to see it. i have a restriction on friends in the first place and then for the album with her in it, I have it even more restricted. Oby1:When you create an album, you can go to album and then from there you will see the link that says privacy setting for album, you click on it and then you can choose which friends see what album. I mean you can specifically choose who can view an album, even if it's just one person. No one else can see it, even for notes that you write. So you can write a love note to that speacial someone and no one will know, lol |
Like some people already stated, Catholic priests do not marry not because of any decree in the bible but because it is thought that juggling both marriage and service to the church will ultimately prove strenuous. Ideally I would like for them to have the choice to choose.they do have the choice, just as you have the choice of living anywhere you want to. there are rules and regulations that come with it, if you can't live there pack up and go and don't be a nuisance to the society. same thing with the priests, if they can't sustain they shouldn't become one. if you read my above post, you will see that they have 10 years to figure it out. 10 YEARS. They usually start off after college (one of the rules for some orders), so they'll be around 21, if by the time they are 31 and they can't tell if they can sustain, then there's something wrong with them. By the time they are 21 they should already have an idea, and that's when they're beginning. |
I agree with Adam Brody without the insults. |
sahel lady:yes very sad indeed. what scholars don't know is that univerisities were started by monks and priests. The teaching styles that we have today were started by them. if only people knew. |
sahel lady:i have to commend u, u did a great job explaining it to him logically. christianity is logical, even while spiritual it is logical. spirituality doesn't mean illogic and i wish ppl will see that. |
At last some fun in the religious section. Thank God, or Allah, or anyone you dey worship.lol, u are a lapse catholic, u need to come home dear. |
Carlosein:u have to join to see all the pics o, they have more security on facebook. i can post what i want and restrict the ppl that can see it. so u only see what i want you to see |
