Nobody is talking about the big Elephant in the room, which is lack of electricity. This week I've spent 58,000 naira on fuel for my generator for work, that is full tank for alot of cars every week, and the car owners are complaining, what about us that need Electricity to work. I barely get 6 hours of electricity, I tried buying solar, but the conditions are too much, turn off this, turn this on, don't use this bulb. Mehn, plus I can't turn on AC while working. Since my work is from home I decided to buy a laptop worth 1million here on Nairaland (thanks to Nairaland )just to ease my work, atleat I get 4 hours of break in severe heated room with my laptop.

How else can someone survive in this country with this low electricity, is there any state that is better? Or is it a must I have to travel to another African country just to get simple electricity to work. My generator just went off and my fuel gone, that why I came here to rant. I'm going to buy feul at 615 naira per litre

I'm wrong for talking a bit tough, but my intention is to make you look at the brighter side of opportunities around. I will tell you a story, its real because I know this person.As we speak, he can feed i and my family effortlessly.

This guy, was squatting with a cousin after NYSC, an estate, the brother was into yahoo. After a while of being fed, do you know what he did?

One morning , of course its a highbrow estate. He picked a bucket and started washing his neighbour's cars WITHOUT BEING TOLD. Neighbours will come out only to meet their cars clean,so they started paying him. Infact, they started giving him car keys for the interior. Sometimes to meet up, he would wash from dusk to dawn.

He continued this for more than 3 years till he had a damn breakthrough. This guy during Xmas, got different kinds of car perfume as gifts for his 'clients' Omo! One of the neighbours wives who works in a ministry couldn't take it, she processed and took his CV. HE got a very good job and Last time I heard rumours about him from a mutual friend,he sells cars too.

You don't need to be connected to get clients.
You can do this, If you have access to middle/ highbrow neighborhood, write several letters of introduction and what your services are, attached each letters to envelopes, email and phone numbers.

Start clearly the materials you use for washing, like detergents and how they are the best to keep clothes still in shape and quality. Impress them, you pick up and deliver,etc

Start with a target of 50 houses per day. Invest in the struggles of getting as much clients and possible, you must surely be called.
